Problem printing landscape files to postscript

This is a recent issue, starting when I got a completely new machine and a fresh install of Acrobat Pro 9.12 (WinXP).
When printing to landscape oriented documents to postscript (using any driver), the resulting PDF has a normal first page (turned to portrait) but all subsequent pages are scaled down to thumbnail size (on the correct size page, though) and are flipped as though they were negatives.
I've attached a mocked-up file to illustrate the problem.

Just to add one interesting tidbit: So after printing the first presentation in Landscape - which always comes out wrong as described above - I go ahead and print out that one again and some others which all turn out fine.  However, if I then go to print a regular report in Portrait and change the print settings accordingly, lo-and-behold the first page is flipped in Landscape mode with the rest of the document in Portrait as I want it.
So it seems to be the act of changing the orientation of the document that causes the first one printed to come out bad.

  • Problem printing eps files

Every time we try to print a document or file with our logo embedded in eps form, it just gets stuck somewhere on the way to the printer - it never arrives, the printer jams up, and nothing can get printed until we turn printeroff and clear the jam. Not sure if this is a mac problem with eps files, or a printer problem. Any ideas? Lucy

Please explain step by step what exactly you're doing and show some screenshots/photos .

  • Problems printing to file in LR4

I am trying to print a jpg to file in LR4. All the settings in the print module seem to be correct an I have done this before. I am print (to file) a 20X16 print at at 240 ppi  sharpening = standard  paper = glossy
jpg quality = 100% . Printing to a Costco profile and intent = perceptual.
When I click print (to desktop) process bar comes up and very quickly progresses. The "print" appears on the desktop as an icon and not a thumbnail. It will not open. When I look at the file info: it is 15,763,189 bytes and has a dimension of 0 x 0 (?).
I have tried this with several different files and get the same result.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks  CJR

The fact that you are producing an extremely large jpg may mean that your Cell Size setting is much bigger than 20x16.  Try adjusting your Cell Size to something closer to 20x16.
I used a Costco profile and produced a good jpg using your parameters.  If the above suggestion does not work, try using another profile to see if your profile is corrupt.

  • Problems printing old files after downloading Adobe 11

I cannot get my pdf files to print after downloading Adobe Reader 11.  I had 9 & now every time I want to print it takes me to the Save As.. file & wants me to save as .pm file.  It won't even let me save as a new pdf file saying the file is corrupted.  Help!

I took it back to Adobe reader 9 & now my pdf files say there's no pages to print even though I can see them in the file.  I did have print tyo file checked so I took it off & it still can't read any pages.

  • Color issues when printing AI files on PostScript

First off, please forgive me if this is  not the right forum or if I am not using the right terms.  I am the network admin for our company and I'm posting this on behalf of our designer.
We recently added PostScript drivers to our Sharp printers, and we have been seeing odd printing results when printing embedded .AI files.
We use CreativeSuite CS5, and our developer has hundreds of images with pure white and transparent backgrounds stored in .AI format.  When these images are embedded/linked to an Indesign document they print with a solid black background and what appears to be an inverted color pattern, almost like a photo negative.
All embedded EPS files print fine.  The affected .AI files print fine when printed directly from Illustrator.
The embedded images print fine using a PCL driver.  We are trying to implement the Postscript driver for better color quality.
    Any ideas?
(We are using Windows XP SP3, x86
Server based network printing on Windows 2003 x86)
    Thanks in advance
    Matt

You'll get better and faster responses if you post in the Adobe Illustrator forum.  This is an application-specific question rather than a color management issue.

  • Problem printing Landscape documents

Hi I have an unusual printing problem.
I just received a new Windows 7 machine and am running Acrobat 9.4.1 on it.
I receive a lot of documents in landscape mode (i.e. presentation slides), which I have always diligently printed out by hitting the print button, changing my orientation to Portrait on the Page Setup tab, then going to the Finishing tab to select Two-sided Printing, Short-edge binding, and finally Staple + Collate with staple in the upper left-hand corner.
Until getting this new machine I never had any issues with having this print out just fine.
However, when I do this now I get a printout that has the first page of the presentation flipped into Portrait mode, with the rest of the document printing exactly the way I want it.  Even more interesting is that if I hit the print button again - not having to change any settings since they were already in there from the previous print job - then it prints out perfectly fine.
I've tried this on different printers and am getting the same problem so it's not a print driver issue.

  • Problem printing Illustrator files, and PDFs containing Illustrator files

I have encountered weird problem with differenf Adobe file formats. Here are the files I had problems with
    1. opening PSD / JPEG files which had placed or embedded Illustrator graphs/ charts.
    2. printing PDFs from an InDesign file which had a placed or embedded Illustrator (eps) file
    3. printing original Illustrator files, or PDFs saved from the original Illustrator files.
Initially I thought that  the problem with with my external drive, where I had versions of the InDesign and PSD files stored. But then I tried removing Illustrations from PSD and Indesign files and they printed without any problems.
Some illustrations are created in the Illustrator itself, others were downloaded from a stock photography site.
Please help me figure out what is the problem.
    Thanks,
    Marina

    Hi Jacob,
I will find out re Post Script driver.
The printing window shows that I am connected to the printer (it's a network office printer) and that the document is printing, but nothing really happens. Meanwhile none of my colleagues can print anything because my file freezes the printer (if this is possible).
    It sometimes says "client-error-not possible"
And below is the error message that i see when i try to open some of the Illustrator files (this one contained graphs and charts). It does open the file, however, and i can even edit it. But, both, a PSD and a JPEG file that contain graaphs from the Illustrator file below fails to open on my colleagues computer.
I forgot to say that I work on a Mac.
I am wondering whether the files are damaged, or the Illustrator needs to be reinstalled.

  • Problem printing specific file.

I have one specific PDF file that will not print from my computer.  I have tried from multiple printers. shows it is printing, then nothing.  No files show as pending in my printing queue.
This file will print from other computers on the same network.  I am using Adobe Acrobat 10.1.6 on Windows 7 Pro SP1 - 32 bit.  All updates current.  Would appreciate any ideas or suggestions - co-workers are getting tired of me having them print it for me.
I even tried having one of them print the PDF to the PDF printer hoping for a way around - no luck.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Having problems printing ai files in the U.S that were  designed in Taiwan? Does anyone have any recommendations?

They look fine digital, but when sent to professional printer, it doesn't translate.

By "translate" do you mean color shifts?  What is it about the prints that are incorrect?  Do you have document color mode info?  What are the Color Settings in the Taiwan Illustrator application vs. the U.S.?

  • Printing landscape pdf to Linux CUPS shared printer

I'm having a problem printing landscape pdf documents from Preview to printers on my Linux CUPS server. Documents print portrait style, with the right side of the document cut off. This occurs in both 10.4.11 and 10.5.2.
Using Adobe Reader or printing the pdf from the command line using lpr work correctly to the shared printer.
Printing directly to the printer (not through the server) is the only way Preview prints it right.
    My CUPS server is:
    Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
    CUPS 1.3.7

I'm having the same problem. I have a Lexmark x9350 that is shared through Airport Extreme.

  • Not printing acrobat files from Reader 9.4/Win 7 64 bit

I have just had to get replacement PC with Win7 64 bit and have loaded Acrobat Reader 9.4.(Prior to demise of old PC Win XP SP3 and Reader 9.x)  I have an HP Deskjet 960c printer connected through a NAS as a network printer.
I have problems printing acrobat files  PDFs (which used to print on old PC) to that configuration. I open document (displays fine), select print, press OK. Goes through spooling doc - 100%.; Then nothing happens - nothing shows on doc list on printer - JUST GETS LOST IN THE ETHER.
Same file prints on printer if direct USB connected.
Word/Excel files print both through NAS as server and on direct usb connect.
Still printes from another XP machine fine.
    Tried XP compatibility no change
ONLY does not seem to work on printing PDFs via NAS Print Server.

Ok, I have now gotten Reader 10 installed, can open files from my desktop but IE 9 keeps crashing when I try to open PDF files even though I exited and relaunched IE 9.  I did take ownership of all the folders containing Reader 10 and then clicked OK when I got the error notice about the shortcut being installed.
