Problem printing photos in Pagemaker and PDF

I publish a newsletter that contains lots of photos. I do layout in Pagemaker. The last issue when I printed out the document to proof it all the photos printed in solid bright blue, even the black & white photos. The same when I converted to PDF. However the file is fine. I burned it on a disk to take to my printer and he had no trouble. Photos print fine in preview and in photoshop. Old Pagemaker documents are also fine, just anything new or anything I make a change to and then save. My non-Mac son seems to think it could be a corrupted printer driver, but I'm nervous to download a new one for fear I won't be able to print anything.

Not sure what's causing this, but you'll get more exposure of your question in the Tiger printing forum at http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=756
Suggest you repost there.

  • Epson R300 prints photos very dark and oversaturated

My Epson R300 recently began printing photos much darker and heavily saturated relative to what I see on my monitor. It seems to print ok directly from a CompactFlash. Photos I printed in the past no longer print good. I tried different programs (iPhoto and Photoshop) and print settings. I replaced all cartridges and reset the driver using Print Setup Utility. Any idea what I can try? Thanks.

Have you checked that the ColorSync profiles are OK,
and have not been changed? Use the ColorSync Utility
    to check them.
This appears to be a printer problem and not a setup issue. The printer worked good for nearly 2 years. The color isn't just a little off. All colors are very dark like too much ink is being delivered to the paper.
There is a definite red cast to whites in photos. Printing directly from a CF card (bypassing my computer) shows the same problem. I deleted and reinstalled the drivers. Tried all of the various settings. With/without Colorsync, printer color vs photoshop color. Tried iPhoto vs Preview vs Photoshop. Epson Print vs Gimp Print. Replaced all cartiridges. Used different paper types (Glossy Photo, Matte). Very frustrating!
Is 2 years the lifetime of an inkjet printer?

  • Photosmart C310A problem printing photo`s

Hi, I have always had a problem printing photo`s on any 6x4 photo paper over 180gm, the tray delivers the paper but it just seems to be to heavy for the rollers to drag the paper out, the sheet gets half way out of the tray and seems to jam, can anyone help please.
                             Cheers

    Hi roadsign-man,
Sounds like you need to clean the feed tires. Follow the instructions below.
    Clean the paper pick rollers
Dust or paper residue on the rollers inside the product can cause paper feed issues. Follow these steps to clean the rollers.
    Clean the paper pick rollers
    Gather the following materials:
A clean, lint-free cloth, or any cloth that will not come apart or leave fibers
Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (tap water might damage the product)
    A clean, lint-free cotton swab
Press the Power button ( ) to turn off the product.
Turn the product so that you can access the rear side.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Remove the two-sided printing accessory (duplexer) from the rear of the product. Push the right side of the duplexer to the left, and then pull out the duplexer.
Figure 5: Rear view of the product showing the duplexer
    Set the duplexer aside.
Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with bottled or distilled water, and then squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth.
Press the cloth against the rollers inside the product, and then rotate them upwards with your fingers. Apply a moderate amount of pressure to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
Figure 6: Clean the rollers in the product
Look inside the rear access area of the product to find the pick rollers. They are near the center of the product behind the paper feed rollers.
Figure 7: Location of the pick rollers
NOTE:You might need to use a flashlight to illuminate the pick rollers.
Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cotton swab, and then use it to clean the pick rollers.
    Figure 8: The pick rollers
Allow the rollers to dry for 10 or 15 minutes.

  • IPhoto 7.1.1 Under Leopard 10.5.1 Will not print photo under "save as PDF"

    iPhoto 7.1.1 Under Leopard 10.5.1.
Select a photo, choose "print" icon at bottom of iPhoto window.
    Choose "print".
    Choose "Save as PDF".
Result: Unknown error message appears with white space (no text) in message box, but with "OK" button.
    Hit "OK button".
RESULT: iPhoto prints a screen shot of the iPhoto window and renders it to a PDF file.
In other words, *the print function under iPhoto does not work*. It yields an error every time that does not have a message, then *instead of printing the selected photo, takes a PDF screen shot of the iPhoto window*.
This is an example of poor programming. And of course, there is no way to fix it, or to get help.
Is anyone else having this problem?

This is an example of poor programming.
How do you come to this conclusion. It's working fine for me. You're the first to report such an issue.
First repair disk permissions with Disk Utility and delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. A corrupted pref file can cause all sorts of unusual performance problems. If that doesn't help, log into another account and try from there. If it still doesn't work a reinstall of iPhoto seems warranted. To reinstall iPhoto you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder.
    It iPhoto performs correctly in the other account then your primary account is the culprit and may be a preference file other than iPhoto's that's at fault. To determine if that's the case try the following;
    Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Problem printing photos in a lab with an exported iPhoto CD

    Hi all,
I wanted to print photos from my iPhoto library. I filled a complete CD with photos (altogether 317 picutures) and brought it to a printing shop (Pharamprix in Canada) to let them do the printing. Please note I have done that with my Windows PC before and it worked fine.
What has happened is the following. When I picked up the photos I could not believe what I saw, because I received around 700 printed pictures. Half of the stack was a blury, very grain pictures and the other half of it was clear.
So my guess is that the export (as I read in another article) of photos puts also other images (is guess also the thumbnails) on the CD.
Those images were intepereted by the photo shop and where printed accordingly. When I inserted the CD in my iPhoto it shows 317 photos, if I insert the CD into a Windows PC it shows roughly 700.
Did anyonee experience the same problem? How can I export it so that I do not have the problem again.
    Is Apple aware of this???
Any thoughts on that will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Gerd

Did you burn the CD by using the Share->Burn Disc menu option? If so then you burned an iPhoto formatted disk that included all of the thumbnails, original files of those you've edited and the edited files, all jpg files. The photofinisher's software look for jpgs and printed every thing it found.
To burn a CD of the photos you want to print, after selecting those images use the Share->Export->File Export menu option. In that window select full sized images. (It's best if you crop the images to the size you want printed beforehand so you don't leave the cropping to the automatic machine at the photofinisher.) Then export to a mounted blank CD and burn in the Finder.

  • Problems viewing dashboards in Word and PDF

I use Xcelsius 2008, service pack 3 and when I export dashboards to Word and pdf others cannot open and view them.  I send them the files via email, some people can open and use, many cannot.  I have Windows XP sp3, and Office 2007.  This is a problem because some clients can open and use, others cannot.

    Hi,
Craig is on the right track, it is most likely a Adobe Flash Player Version issue.
Read the Supported Platform guide for Xcelsius 2008 SP3 for more details.
                  http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/50fdb3d2-50cc-2c10-e392-a2e481f71694
Make sure they have Adobe Flash Player 9.0.151.0 and above installed.
Another quick test they can do, see if they can open SWF file directly on their Internet Explorer. I doubt the issue is related to WORD or PDF at all.

  • Problem printing opacity in Pages and Preview

Printing from Lion to a Canon 3080 Copier / Printer using the Canon ir C3080 UFRII driver. Pages Doc's All items with opacity print at 100% regardless of the opacity settings. This only happens in Apple Pages and PDF's in Preview.  Photoshop, Indesign, Acrobat X and MS Word are all printing with Opacity fine. Any clue why a PDF prints fine in Acrobat x , but all opacity prints full100% in Preview and... Pages documents print Opacity full 100%... but when exported as a PDF and printed in Acrobat X print fine?

I take it that should be EXCEPT Pages and Preview.
Still don't know what version of Lion nor of Pages.
What happens when you print your Pages document to pdf?
What other programs are you printing from that are OK? Most don't have transparency, and if they are Adobe Indesign or Quark XPress they are not using OSX's print engine.

  • Having a problem printing photos from Iphoto.  Seems that "themes" are required in order to accomplished the task.  Where are the Themes found?

Where can I find the themes, possibly formats, for printing photos for Iphotos?  Are these still being used or have they been upgraded to another program such as ilife?

You'll need to reinstall iPhoto.  If you MBP came with Lion preinstalled move the iPhoto applicaiton to the Trash bin in the Dock, go to the App Store, go to Purchases, download and reinstall iPhoto.

  • How to print photos in portrait and landscape from mobile phone

    Hi there,
Have just set up my new HP Envy 5532 printer and am having a few issues with printing photo's from my mobile phone.
Could someone please let me know how to choose between portrait and landscape.  Also, when I print photo's from my laptop, the settings let me choose which paper size to choose - does anyone know what a 6' x 4' print setting is?
Thanks so much and I hope I have made some sense with my questions!
    Monkey-Nicks

    Hi @Monkey-Nicks,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I  gather that you would like to learn how to print pictures on your mobile device to your Envy 5532 printer.
You didn’t mention whether you are using an Android mobile phone or an iPhone so I’ve included the document for each operating system.  If you would like more print options than what you currently have available, I would suggest downloading and installing the HP ePrint app.  It gives you the type of options that you are looking for.

  • Printing Differences btwn IDCS2 and PDF

IDCS2  and Acrobat 7.0 Professional - Vista Home Premium.
I am working on a book, with planned dimensions of 6 x 9. The text block is 4.5 x 7, with a 1/2 inch inner and a 1 inch outer margin. I save all files as both Indesign and as a pdf.
When I check the output of a given file, the Indesign file is faithfully followng the preset. However, I've noticed that sometimes the PDF text block is only 4.25 x 6 5/8. There doesn't seem to be any obvious pattern to the deviations, because other sections of the book print PDFs that do follow the preset dimensions.
I've looked at the settings on the PDF print dialog but don't see anything amiss. The preset dimensions haven't changed.
I need to straighten this out before I can send the final output to the printers.
    Where have I gone astray?
    Thanks,
    Ed Bebee

    Bob:
I've set the print dialog to print out the margins and text box guides. That is what I'm measuring. This does not seem to bother ID CS2, but the same file prints about 1/4 inch less width for the text box and about 1/2 inch for the height of the text box when printed with Acrobat.
I'll check the scaling setting, but don't recall setting it. I assume that it should be "off" or "zero" or whatever means that it isn't set.

  • Print problem - prints fine in photoshop and windows but direct from illustrator is off centre when printed.

when printing a full page image from illustrator the print is off centre and does not print the image in line with the paper. the same image prints just fine in photoshop and as a jpeg from windows own program. the positioning is zeroed in the dialouge box and the preview image shows how it should print, but it does not print as shown. please help.

    clarke,
What happens if you Save a Copy as PDF, then print from Acrobat or Reader?
If that helps, you may consider trying to (find and) use a PostScript (emulatin) printer driver to your printer, if possible.

  • Problems printing with Mountain Lion and Epson WorkForce 645.

Ever since I installed Mountain Lion I've been having problems printing on my Epson WorkForce 645.  My initial problems started while trying to print from Google Chrome.  The printer would always jam once I tried to print from the browser. I would have to open another browser (like Safari) and print from there.  After driver updates from Apple, my printing problems got worse.  I'm now not able to print from Microsoft Excel or QuickBooks anymore.

  • Printers having problems printing PAGES 8 -  HP and Cannon

I am trying to print a tri-fold church bulletin using the duplex option. My HP (7410 All in one) cuts off a half inch of the trailing edge on both sides. So I decided to use my Cannon (iP6700D)- the same document has been spooling for 20 minutes. Is Pages 8 a finished product - it looks great on the screen. Both printers are wireless. I never had a problem with version 6 that I remember. Any help is appreciated.

the trailing edge problem is inherent to the printer and the driver. If you have a borderless option for your printer, try using that.
As for the Canon problem, again that is going to be a printer driver issue.
My suggestion would be to save the file as a PDF and then try printing the PDF. This removes Pages from the equation for testing purposes.
(If these problems never showed up in iWork '06, then it may have been a global variable you had set in that program or driver. Once you set the printer you can view the layout and see how the unprintable areas will work. Avoid anything that is in the grey border and your printout should be fine.

  • Problem printing fra Acrobat 8 and Indesign CS3

    Hi Forum
My setup is a Powermac G5 with 10.5.8 and a Epson 1400 and a Epson c8500. I have checked, that I'm using the latest drivers from Epson.
My problem is then I print A4 PDF documents to these two printers, the prints will be cropped, it actually seem like the top and bottom margins of the printable area are wrong. Scaling is set to none and I have also tried printing as an image.
I have tried using Acrobat 8, Adobe Reader 9 and Indesign CS3, also behave the same.
If I use Preview, my prints will look just fine.
I tried the same from a Macbook pro with 10.5.8 and Acrobat 8 and 9, and from this computer things work correctly.
So it's seems to be a problem with an Adobe related file or setting.
    anybody seen this before?
    kind regards
    Lars

Our office is printing fine from ID & PS CS3. This is from Intel & PPC Mac's running 10.4.9.
What is your printer and how is it configured for printing, ie USB or IP.
Also, have a look at the cups error log. You can find this via System Profiler > Software > Logs. This will show which process is failing for the spooled job. You can post it back here for more help.

  • Not printing text-only graphics on Canon. Not printer problem-print ok on Brother and another network Apple prints ok on Canon. Believe a computer setting was inadvertently reset. What setting and how do I reset?

Not printing text only on Canon--grahics print ok.  Not printer problem.  Prints ok on a Brother and another network Apple prints ok on Canon.  Believe a computer setting was inadvertently reset.  What setting and how do I reset?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
    System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.
