Problem printing tabloid size

Just a bit of information first:
• I'm running CS4
• Printer: Canon ImagePress C1
• Printing on a network printer, it's called Canon iPR Server Q2 V2.0 in Printers & Scanners (not sure if that's helpful)
The issue at hand:
I recently installed Mavericks. Since then, I'm not able to print from Photoshop. I could print from Illustrator (but now I can't, I'll get to that in minute). In my attempt to fix the issue, I removed the printer from 'Printers & Scanners', and readded it.
I still can't print from Photoshop (the software freezes and then quits). And if I try to print from Illustrator, I don't have any of my 11x17 (or tabloid) options. I've tried adding a custom size through Page Setup. It looks like the size shows up in my print dialogue menu, but when I print the printer chooses Letter size. I'm guessing when I removed the printer initially... some of my printing preferences/options were also removed. Is there a way for me to add these back in? Or am I looking at probably having to call a tech support/print technician? I can print the standard media sizes from Illustrator.
I've included some screenshots of what my print window in Illustrator looks like.

I'm a detailer|draftsman, using Autocad and this effects my way of earning a living. I have to spend extra time printing check drawings. I loose a lot of time with the mechanics of printing.
I have the same exasperating problem with my Deskjet 9650 (with Deskjet 9800 drivers) HP doesn't have updated drivers for the 9650. It's been a few years since I found out I couldn't use the Deskjet 9650 on MY computer.
That computer died and I now have Win7x64 on a 64 bit machine. There is still no relief!!
I use my husband's XP-Pro 32 bit machine. the only drawback is tranferring files to his machine so that I can print.
It is not a satisfactory situation.
I've come to the conclusion: NEVER to buy another HP product!

  • Problems printing smaller sizes in Lightroom 1.4 Windows Vista-64bit, R800

    Hi All,
I am having problems printing smaller sizes in Lightroom v1.4, WIndows Vista-64 bit, on an Epson R800 (driver version 6.5cAs, the latest one) . When I try to set the printer settings in both the page set up and the printer setup, it displays as 5X7, but somehow when it actually goes to print, the print dialogue box reverts back to 8.5 X11. I can print 5X7 in CS3 with no problems on the same machine. The prints coming from light room look ok, they are just the wrong size for the page. Some how it appears that lightroom is not able to change the printing size defaults from 8.5X11. The prints in lightroom are fine as long as I use 8.5X11 or print in CS3. Any help to fix this would be great.

make sure your ventilation ducts are clean from dirt, Vista put lot more strain on every component of your laptop, so the temperature increase should be normal. Xp is lot less demanding on computer compoents, however it does sound like your heat ventilation fan and fins are clogged with dusts. So open up the laptop to clean away any dusts that maybe there.

  • Problem printing custom size document

I am trying to print a custom size document (4.4"x7.2") that I created in Microsoft Word.  I have set the Page size in Word, tried to create a custom size page in my Printer, and am unable to select this paper size in the properties of my printer (using the control panel).  I am at a loss at how to eliminate the "Paper Mismatch" error.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  (I have two other size papers I need to generate documents for as well...4.4"x6.2"  and 4.4"x8.2")
    Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I doubt I will get any thanks for this; some days are just like that.  Smiling.
While there are several instances where the Specification Sheet is actually in error and Windows does support Custom sizes for some printer models in a similar printer class, I do believe that in the case of THIS printer model, the specs are correct:  Only Mac OS supports Custom paper sizes.
More simply said:  You cannot get there from here.
You are likely stuck with the paper sizes supported by the printer as specified in that Spec sheet.
I could not find the necessary file  Create Custom Paper Sizes in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Mac OS X  for YOUR printer model that one would expect to see in the How-to Support pages if the "Custom" paper sizes are supported for Windows.
I could be wrong -- I have been wrong before.   I do not mind being wrong if it means you get what you need.
If you had something even close to what is allowed, you might be able to select something from the list, adjust the paper in the printer and try to get away with it by adjusting the Printing Preferences.

  • Problem printing custom size 3.5 in x 5 in from InDesign to Canon i9900

I am working on a small project where I need to print a custom size. The cards are 3.5 in x 5 in. I set up a custom size of paper in InDesign CS3, but every time I print to my Canon i9900, I get only a small bit of the design in the upper left hand corner as if my paper size is set to 8.5 x 11. I have tried everything to get it to print correctly. Also, how do I set the paper for borderless printing? It seems that it still has a margin when my printer prints borderless. This seems like if would be elementary to me so I am a bit frustrated that I can't figure it out.

My experience is with CS2 on OS 10.3.9 and 10.4.11, so this may have changed in CS3, or 10.5....
Setup a custom paper size for your printer.
This can be accessed from within the InDesign Print window.
    File > Print
    Select your printer from the
Printer: pulldown menu (if not already selected)
    Click
Page Setup... at the bottom left
    Click
    Settings and then select
Custom Paper Size from the list of options
    Click
New, name the style, define the paper size and printable margins, and save it.
Click OK to exit the page setup.
In the InDesign Print Window, Click on
    Page Setup... again
    Select
Your New Paper Size in the Page Setup
Paper Size: pulldown, then click OK.
    InDesign Print window
Setup should reflect the new page size and list the paper size as "Defined by Driver"
If your document page size is the same as your paper size, then the preview in the lower left should reflect that.

  • HP J4580 problem printing legal size after downloading Windows 10

I downloaded Windows 10 yesterday.  Last night I finished a spreadsheet (8 1/2 x 14) and attempted to print it out.  No go.  It wanted to print on letter size.  So, I tried to reset the paper size, but it wasn't on the list.  Microsoft says that I probably need to update drivers.  So, I go to HP and am told that I'm up to date with drivers.  Now what do I do?  I need to be able to print on legal size paper.  I hope someone here can help me.

Did you download this software for the printer ? http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL31046/mp-109152-2/OJ_AIO_J4500_Full_Win_WW_140_404-4.exe Have you run Windows update to check that you have all the updates needed?

  • Problems printing after OS X 10.5.6 Upgrade

Hope someone has an answer for me.  On Friday I finally upgraded my office Intel iMac to 10.5.6 (upgraded from Tiger), running the CS3 Suite.  We print primarily on a 6 year old Phaser 7700 and had no problems printing until today.  Now when printing in any program in the suite, mainly Illustrator,  we get what appears to be a postscript error.  We will try to print tabloid size and all that prints out is letter size paper and only one line of odd characters on multiple pages.  We have gotten simple graphics on letter size to print through Illustrator, but there is no rhyme or reason why they go through and other's don't.  Illustrator is running in Rosetta, and many of the work arounds I have found are not working for me.  Unfortunately upgrading our printer at this time is not an option, so I hope someone knows of a fix for this.  All other programs on system print with no issues, it appears to be only with Adobe suite.
    THANKS!

I have found many threads posting similar problems and it seems to be a postscript error dealing with raster images.  It most definitely seems to be an issue with CS3 operating under the new OS.  (not sure why??)  I am continuing to get pages and pages of garbage when trying to print out of Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign or Acrobat when there are images involved.  I can print if the the graphic contains no links or if I have embedded the links (Illustrator only).  Photoshop will not print at all.
I have tried to change the printer's protocol to TBCP - didn't work.
I have tried using a generic PPD - didn't work.
I have reinstalled manf. PPDs - didn't work.
I have changed output from binary to ASCII/85 - didn't work.
An upgrade to CS4 is not in the company's budget right now, nor is a new printer.  Would an upgrade even work?  Any other suggestions?  Anyone?  Thanks!

  • Indesign CS3 & Epson r2400 not printing tabloid paper

Indesign CS3 & Epson r2400 not printing tabloid paper. MAC OS 10.5.6. Have tried all configurations of page set up 11 x17 and 8.5 x 11 spreads, custom page sizes and default paper set up. The print comes out cut off. Epson says it's an Indd problem. Very inconvenient. Got any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with IDCS3 5.0.4 and an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 on Mac OS X 10.5.6 with version 6.11 of the Epson driver. I have a 17x17 document in InDesign that I am trying to print on 17x22 paper. The paper spools a little less than half-way down and the print begins, but it prints about 1/4 of the image--it is as if it cropped at 8.5x11 at the top right corner of the image.
I have had to resort to saving the file as a high-res jpeg and printing from Preview as a workaround. Unreal.

  • Epson 2400 - Can't print tabloid

Having a problem in our studio right now ...
Recently installed Leopard on one of the G5's. Went to print this morning on our Epson 2400 and we cannot print tabloid - the page contents will clip at letter size. Same problem no matter what application we use ... InDesign, Acrobat, etc ...
We are using the latest driver from Epson.
Is there something we're missing here or is this a bug? TIA.

    Try this!
Q: Since I upgraded to Macintosh OS X 10.5 Leopard, some printer driver options are missing. What should I do?
A: Make sure you’re not using the Macintosh OS X 10.5 Gutenprint driver. Follow these steps to check if you’re using the Gutenprint driver and change it if necessary:
From the Apple menu, select System Preferences.
    Click Print & Fax.
If necessary, click once on your printer’s name in the Printer list. (You don’t need to do this if only one printer driver is installed).
If you see Gutenprint next to your printer name, go to step 5 to change the driver. (The Epson Stylus Photo RX620 appears in the example below, but you’ll see your printer or all-in-one name instead).
If you see only your printer’s name, you’re using the correct driver, and you can skip the remaining steps.
    Turn off the printer.
Click the button to remove the printer from the Printers list, then click OK.
Go to the Macintosh Leopard Support page and select your printer or all-in-one from the appropriate list.
After you select your printer or all-in-one, the web page will either inform you that the driver for your model is included in Mac OS X 10.5 or give you a description and download option for an Epson driver for your printer.
If the driver for your model is included in Mac OS X 10.5, go to the next step. Otherwise, download and install the Epson driver for Mac 10.5 before continuing with step 8.
From the Apple menu, select System Preferences. If necessary, click Print & Fax.
Turn on the printer. Your computer should add the printer automatically.
If your computer does not add the printer or if it adds the Gutenprint driver again, contact Apple for assistance. You may need to reinstall the Epson drivers provided with Macintosh OS X 10.5.
Note: To check ink levels, click the Utility button, then click EPSON StatusMonitor. The Supply Levels button will not show remaining ink levels for your Epson printer.

  • I can't print tabloid 11x17 on my 9650 deskjet, help!

need complete install software for hp9650 that works with windows 7,  I cant print tabloid 11x17 help

    Hi,
A Windows 7 full software is not available for your product.
As described below, you should use the Deskjet 9800 as alternative driver according the provided steps:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01796821&lc=en
*If the printer is connected by USB, make sure to set the port as USB001 and not as LPT as mentioned above.
By adding the driver, i could verify a Tabloid paper size is available within the 9800 options.
If you facing any unique behaviour while trying to print with this media size, please clarify the exact response.
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos thumb up in the post.
If my post resolve your problem please mark it as an Accepted Solution

  • Canon Pro9000 no longer prints tabloid on Snow Leopard

Just got new 2 new iMacs w/ Snow Leopard. My partner installed software and latest drives for Canon Pro9000 on his computer. Now, when I'm on my computer and in InDesign CS5 and I try to print a tabloid size paper. However, the Indesign file prints the wrong orientation (landscape instead of portrait).
I've tried changing the Page Setup and also within the InDesign print dialog. No matter what, the file prints incorrectly.
Also, my partner tries to print a #10 envelope on my computer (Canon iP4500), the orientation is also incorrect on that.
Any thoughts on this? Printing 8.5 x 11 on either computer is not a problem. It's just when the orientation must be changed that we run into trouble.

You mention that the Pro9000 is connected to the other iMac and that when you print from ID CS5 you get the orientation issue. If you print from ID CS5 on that iMac, or if you connect the Pro9000 directly to your iMac, does the symptom still exist?
Yes, it also appears that it has to do with InDesign. I've been able to print out PDFs to my partner's printer on tabloid paper w/o a problem. My partner can print out the correct orientation from his computer to his printer.
Also, in reverse, it sounds like when the other iMac attempts to print to the iP4500 connected to your iMac the orientation issue exists. But if you print the #10 ENV, is the orientation okay?
Yes, if I print a #10 env to my printer from my computer, it is okay.
Just trying to determine if the symptom is only present when printing to the shared printer - not the direct printer.
Yes, it looks as if when the printer is shared and using InDesign CS5.

  • Problem Printing to Large Format Printers From SGD

I am having a problem printing to large format printers when using the PDF printing option for SGD. The SDG Universal PDF Viewer recognizes the print format that I specify but on the client device side the pdf that is produced is always Letter size. If a larger format is speciied the client side pdf displays a small portion of it - almost as if it were clipped at the Letter size. Has anyone experienced this. Is it an SGD problem per se or is it an issue with the Ghostscript configuration and if so is ther a way I can change the config?
I am running 4.6.2 in an RHEL5 environment. The application server I am primarily working with is Windows Server 2008. The printers I have tried to print larger formats to are HP CLJ 2800 PS (Tabloid size), HP Designjet Z6100 (E size), and HP DesignJet 4020ps(E size). In all cases the plot appears to have been clipped into a Letter size format on the client device side.
    Thanks,

You may have encountered a limitation with the GARO driver, especially if it is connected to the USB port of the Express. We have an iPF8100 but it is connected directly to our network via Ethernet so I've never tested the printer via USB. But if the driver is anything like the consumer inkjet drivers, there is often issues with the driver determining the printer model on the end of the USB and this stops the printer queue creation.
Have you tried connecting the printer via Ethernet to the Express and then seeing if you can add the printer queue? You will have to set an IP address in the machine if DHCP is not enabled.

  • Quality problem printing in Windows 8.1 with CP1215

Recently purchased new laptop with Windows 8.1 Pro.  I have had my printer for years, CP1215, via USB, without having any problems printing to it with Windows 7 Pro. I first noticed that the quality of print I receive out of my printer on the new laptop is darker.  The darkness comes from black lines going diagonally across the page.  I would estimate at approximately a 2 degree angle.  I would also estimate that the lines appear every 4th pixel row.  I have attached 2 images, printed on 2 different printers.  The one on the top is the one off of my CP1215, the one on the bottom is a color copier in my office.  I have zoomed in incredibly on the prints to show the lines.  Just never had problems with this printer in pre Windows 8.1 days.  Tried installing ljcP1215-HB-pnp-win64-en.  Tried uninstalling printer, rebooting, then installing, still same problem.  I also have another problem with printing, but suspect it is more of a Microsoft problem.  My laptop thinks a network printer goes offline, stopping and restarting the print spooler service seems to fix that.  I had to make a .bat file on my desktop to do it, it happens at least 2 times in an 8 hr work day.

Hi paulie99, Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! I understand the printer isn't printing properly from Windows 8.I will be happy to help you. Check your printer driver settings. 1. On the File menu in the software program, click Print.2. Select the driver, and then click Properties or Preferences.3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.4. In the Type is or Size is list box, select the correct media type or size. Set the quality to ImageREt 2400. I have provided a document to install the Windows print driver to see if that makes a difference.Installing the Printer Software in Windows 8.1 for a USB or Network Connection. For the network printer I would setup a static IP address. Please let me know the results if you are still having issues. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.Have a great weekend!

  • Problem with font size, not showing up as expected.

I've been wrestling with this for a few weeks now, but surely must be getting closer to having it resolved. It's just a problem with font size on just this one page.
    http://www.kgngroup.net/logos_and_packaging.html
I want the body text to be 10px, but after two weeks, have played with every conceivable way, altering body font size in CSS and in the document itself. I've viewing it in Safari but others on Windows machines tell me that it is out of whack also.
My main problem is that I can change the font size to extremes but it still shows up as the same size in the browser (about 12px.) I know changes can be made because I can modify the wording and that does change online. It's just a problem with the font size. Oh, and in the third column, the one to the right, in Dreamweaver, the font looks like it is miniscule, cannot even be read, but in the browser, since the style11 is applied, all three columns look equal size.
Not sure where to go from here. I just want to get the body font down to 10 pixels.
    TIA,
    Ken

I guess this a follow up to your earlier thread

What would really help you in diagnosing issues such as this is to install the Firebug add-in for Firefox (as suggested in the earlier thread).
Firebug shows you visually what CSS rules apply to whatever element you click on the screen.
In this case, you have a confusion of CSS font sizes cascading on top of each other and that's confused again by mixing units for no real reason. .style11 is unnecessarily applied to lots of individual <p> tags. Remove those classes and delete the rule.
    e.g.
The tiny font in the RHS column is affected first by
    .style8 {
    font-size: 0.5em;
    affecting the <td> then by
    .style11 {font-size: 75%}
    affecting the <p> tag.
End result = tiny text (approx 2px).
In these cases of mass confusion, my approach is to strip out all font sizing from the CSS and start over.
    Avoid %. Use px.
Apply font sizing rules logically starting from the <body> tag downwards.
That'll give you a solid baseline without weird effects.
Ah, I find your answer worth repeating.
Very cool that you have diagnosed so well and spelled it out here.
I will get the Firefox add-on you mention, plus, print out this response and follow it like a recipe.
It makes perfect sense and you have saved me from the 'clutter' of being wound up in too many directions with this because I could not make all of the connections that you have done here. I appreciate your help very much.
    Thank You,
    Ken

  • Xerox Phaser 7300dn will not print tabloid

I have a user with an 20" iMac running 10.6.4 and Adobe CS4. In that office they have a Xerox Phaser 7300dn color laser printer. The user cannot print to tabloid paper. Everything prints on 8.5x11 paper regardless of settings. Happens in Illustrator, Photoshop, whatever. There are two older white iMacs on that same printer that are running 10.5.x, and they have no problems printing to tabloid on that same printer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers from Xerox. I've updated the firmware on the printer. All the options show up in the print dialog boxes. This has to be an issue with 10.6 since the other Macs running 10.5 and a PC running Windows XP don't have this problem. Anybody else experience this issue? Any fixes? I'm getting desperate.
    Thanks.

I used to be able to collate just fine on my Laserjet 5000, but no longer.  I, too, found that it made no difference whether I checked the box or not. Is this still another bug in 9.4.5?  And yes, it is highly irritating.
