Problem Printing to a Canon MX700 Printer

I have a new Macbook Air (love it) and I want to print to my Canon MX700 printer. I have the driver properly installed on the MBA and I can print a test page to the Canon MX700 from the MBA. However, when I send an actual file to the printer, it never goes beyond the status of "spooling" in the print cue. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for the feedback. I should have mentioned my Canon MX700 is installed/connected to a Window XP desktop. The printer is being shared across my network and can be seen/printed to from a Windows laptop on my network so from the windows side, it is good to go.
I deleted the MX700 printer and re-added it by selecting "add printer or scanner." However, the printer only shows via the "windows" view (4th icon), where I can navigate/access it accross my network. I can add it, select the driver and install it just fine.
Still no joy printing an actual job to it though...

Suddenly,my IPad and iPhone stopped printing to my canon AirPrint printer. Both pc and Mac print wirelessly ok so signal is there. IPad and iPhone both get "no AirPrint printer found" message. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi cjvandeveer, The Windows 7 operating system has a mini-driver built-in for the printer. You can plug in the USB cable of printer into the computer and then turn the printer on. If Windows 7 automatically recognizes the printer, it will appear in your DEVICES AND PRINTERS window, and you will be able to print. You will then need to download the Windows 7 printer driver add-on module from our website. The add-on module will give the printer its full capability, but only after the printer is already recognized by Windows 7. First, to see if Windows recognizes your printer, please follow these steps: 1. Plug in the printer's USB cable into the computer and then turn on the printer. 2. Go to your START MENU on the computer and select DEVICES AND PRINTERS. 3. See if your printer is located in the DEVICES AND PRINTERS window. I’ve used several wireless printers with a 4510 and 5510 Jetpack and they all print just fine. The MHS890L does not support WPS. The WPS Wikipedia article briefly addresses the reason why you should not use WPS. If you’re having trouble setting up your printer the manufacturer has a toll free support line to help you. Your Jetpack has the Wi-Fi Password on the bottom, under the battery, and or in the LED display.

Canon MX700 Printer problem since upgrade to Lion.

Since upgrading to Lion every time I try to print something on my Canon MX700 networked printer I get a communication error. I found that what I have to do to get it to work is to print the document a second time and then delete the first document in the printer queue. This pauses the printer and when it is resumed the second document prints successfully.
Anyone else have this problem or can anyone shed any light on what might be wrong?
Scanning seems to work OK.

Cannot install Canon MX700 Printer Drivers

I have tried to install from the CDROM that came with the printer, it failed with both the "Easy" and the "Custom" installs, with the error message:
MP Drivers could not be installed. Click [Start Over] to reexecute the installation process. That also fails, and I decided to break out of the infinite loop of starting over again and again by posting this message.
I also tried the suggestions as to how to correct installation problems, such as trying to install with an administrator account, and having no other apps running. These did not work; this is good because this isn't Windows after all.
Furthermore, I downloaded the drivers from the Canon USA site

I think you will find this is not an issue with 10.5.6, but rather something about your Mac setup that is stopping the installer from working correctly.
Try the following procedure for repairing faulty installations of the Canon drivers.
1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Highlight the Canon printer in the Printer list and click the minus ( - ) button.
2. Hold Control key and click in the empty Printers list. Click on Reset Printing System.
3. Close Print & Fax
4. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder.
5. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the Canon driver package file, if one exists. The file name will show Canon MX700 xxx.pkg
6. Go to Library > Preferences and delete the Canon folder.
7. Empty the Trash
8. Unplug the Canon USB cable and restart the Mac
9. Install the version 6.9.3 Canon driver that you downloaded. You don't need the CUPS v10.1.2 driver or any version on the included CDROM.
10. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
11. Reconnect the Canon USB cable. Then open Print & Fax and see if the Canon printer is listed. If it is, try a test print.
12. If the printer is not listed, click the plus ( + ) button.
13. Select the Default view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
14. Click Add to add the printer.

Print PDF with special print options of Canon IR printer

We have a collection (db driven) of PDF documents that we want to send to our network printers. Some document need a hole punch of some other specific printeroptions of a Canon IR printer.
The ideal solutions is a windows application where i could define virtual printers with their print options (pdf and printer specific).
Eg:
A user creates in a the windows app a virtual printer with name and print options
- FastPunch: Printer IR5570 with hole punch
- Fast: Printer IR5570
- Color: IR C4080
- ColorBooklet: IR C4080 with booklet options
When the app starts its batch it will look at de db and find rows with an PDF and the name of a virtual printer. The documents are printed with specific printer preferences.
Does someone has experience with such an solution? Tips?
Someone wants to make this in vb.net (or c#)? What cost?

I have downloaded the Acrobat SDK but I haven't really waded through the documentation or samples yet. I've only been working on this project for about 3 days now and not full time. This isn't the highest priority at work. I've worked a bit with the adobe reader control and that looks like it has some promise.
I have two significant problems:
1) I don't want the user to see any windows appear other than my console application. That way I have it working right now, Acrobat is required and appears minimized while the file is spooled and then is closed after spooling completes. Not so horrible but I'd like to get away from it if possible. To print the file right now I'm using the startprocess module or something (new version of shell I think). I'm starting the pdf with the verb "Printto" and that tells Acrobat to print to a printer that I specify.
2)Biggest problem. I have no reliable way to change the number of copies or any other print settings. I am not willing to write a program that spools a single copy multiple times just to get multiple copies. Currently my program uses rundll to open a printer preferences dialog, and SendKeys to modify the print settings. This means that the computer cannot be used while automated printing is occurring.
Right now the program's only saving grace is that it allows the user to be ignorant of the job settings so that all the user has to do is indicate an item number and quantity and walk away (hoping nothing changes the focus and derails SendKeys - but we know that kind of thing never happens in XP :P )

Color Printing issue on Canon MP600 Printer and Mavericks upgrade

I realize that some people have been having problems scanning with the new upgrade on their printer, however, I am have trouble printing in color with the new Mavericks upgrade. Black and white is fine, but if there is any logo or color fonts, they are distorted. How do I go about fixing this?

I too was having the same issue where I was unable to print in color on my MP600 with Mavericks. It printed incorrect font, colors and distorted the size and placement on page . I followed the above instructions to download the MP600R via the Canon UK website and it has solved my problem.
If anyone is as computer illiterate as I seem to be: After downloading the MP600R driver and installing it, I went to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners> delete the printer currently listed>add a new printer and select the MP600R from the list of software to choose.
I have yet to delete any software/driver files related to the old printer, so I was able to correct the problem simply by downloading the new driver, deleting the current printer, and adding a "new" printer selecting the MP600R.
So happy it is now resolved as this has been driving me crazy for months!

Printer Dialog for Canon S9000 Printer

I dug out my large format Canon S9000 printer and am having trouble color correcting the photographic prints. Part of the trouble seems to be that in OS 10.6 I don't seem to be able to get the printer dialog box from the printer utility. When you go into the printer driver all you get is Canon S9000 in the box and I don't seem to be able to get into change any of the driver settings. Can anyone help? Thanks.

This is not true. Canon creates the drivers and provides them to Apple so that it they are available via Software Update.
Since you are using the same driver from Canon, maybe you could answer some of the following questions: What color space do you use for importing your photograph, sRGB, AdobeRGB, ProRGB, etc.? What color space do you use for viewing your photograph? Do use any ICC print profiles to print?
For the photo that I used to test, it was taken on my Canon EOS7D and imported using Image Capture. The Get Info for the photo shows the colour space as RGB and the colour profile as sRGB IEC61966-2.1.
For printing I selected the Canon profile to match the Canon Photo Plus Glossy, which is shown as GL3/SG3 in ColorSync. When PS was managing the colour this was selected via the PS print dialog > printer profile. When I selected the printer to manage, I used the Quality & Media tab to select the paper which in turn sets the profile, as seen in the Color Options menu.

MY HP ENVYM6 WILL NOT PRINT FROM MY Canon DEFAULT PRINTER

My notebook HP ENVY M6 will not print when asked i have a Canon MX515 as my default printer and using wireless conection.
I also have a HP pavilion dv6000 that works fine on the same wireless connection.
My HP ENVY M6 is on windows 8.1 and my HP pavilion dv6000 is on windows vista can any one help with this problem ?

Printer communication error, canon mx870 prints one time then communication error on next print job

I have a canon mx870. It keeps sending a message that there is a communication error. I then re enter my network key and restart the printer and my macbook pro. It will print a few times then the message returns. My PC is also connected to the network and does not get this message. Any suggestions?

Canon MF4400w Printer - "Filter" failed error. Can't scan either.

I work in a wholly Mac environment. We have around 10 plus Macs in the office, most of them running 10.8.3 (the latest I believe). All Macs are able to print to our Canon MF4400w Printer fine EXCEPT mine.
I've had a Canon technician come by. We've installed/reinstalled the canon drivers multiple times, tried via USB/Wireless, and I personally looked up these forums to try and diagnose the problem myself. As far as I can tell, it has something to do with "capdftopdl", whatever that is.
This is a new iMac that was purchase a few weeks ago. I've used migration assistant to transfer my files from my old Mac to this new one via LAN cable. Printing from this Mac has always resulted in the "Stopped. "Filter" failed." error. It has never printed successfully despite trying multiple different drivers.

Things I have tried:
1) Some threads suggest that it may be a corrupted Font problem. Followed steps suggested by thread, no luck.
2) Some suggested it was a setting under network. Followed those steps, still same problem.
3) Setting paper print size to A4/Letter

Can you reply with your email address, but in the form of user_name at domain_name dot com (dot country if applicable). I have some files to send you to replace the Canon files that are possibly causing the error.
Also, for your reference, you posted in the Lion forum but you have Mtn Lion. If you posted in the Mtn Lion forum I would have got to you sooner.

Printing wirelessly to Canons

I have been trying to print wirelessly to a new Canon printer. I've read several of the posts here, but by no means all. I've tried several suggestions and still no luck. I apologize if this was answered somewhere and I didn't see it.
I am using:
MacBook G4 OS X.6.6
D-Link DPR 1260 print server
Canon D420 & MF 4250d
Also have various Windows computers as well as Lexmark & Brother printers.
Windows computers can print to all printers via USB & wireless. Exception is none will print wireless to Canon MF4350d (print server only "sees" fax driver). MacBook can print to all through USB & wireless to Lexmark & Brother. Lexmark has built-in wireless. Brother is connected to same D-Link print server.
Recently added the Canon D420 to the family. Installed CD. I was able to print to it through USB. Also able to duplex. I added the print queue for the print server and got the UFR II error 10322 ("Cannot communicate with printer....")
The Windows computers can print to it through USB & print server, so I know it isn't a print server error.
I have tried several suggestions from this forum and at this point don't remember the order of everything I've tried. However, most recently I have done the following:
Reset printer systems (right click on printer list in print & fax)
Rebooted
Added back all printers
Tried to print and got same error. So I did more searching and saw suggestion to delete certain files.
Deleted all 3 Canon queues (D420 USB, D420 wireless, MF4350 USB)
Deleted:
UFR2 folder
CNTDD450ZUS.ppd.gz
CNTDMF4350ZUS.ppd.gz
jp.co.canon.UR2.BG.plist
Rebooted & reinstalled UFR II v2.21 driver.
At this point I can print to D420 & MF4350 through USB, but not duplex on either. Still cannot print wirelessly to D420.
So I searched some more and found the suggestion to use the Printer Info Button. I did that and clicked OK. This time it looked like I was actually going to print (got a status bar). But then I got a new error message:
Canon UFRII Printer Driver. Printer open Failed - 9781.
I feel like I'm closer to printing. I'm not sure what to try next.
(Also, when I got the MF4350d, I had a problem duplexing from the Mac. I don't remember what I finally found to fix it, but I did get that working. After everything I've done recently, neither printer will duplex anymore. I've tried going to "Finishing" and setting it to 2-sided printing but it is still grayed-out on Layout.)
Would an older version of the driver work better? Perhaps a different driver completely? From what I'm seeing there seems to be a lot of problems with the UFR II drivers. The only feature I want to use wirelessly is print. So a more generic driver just for the printing function would be fine, as long as it will let me duplex.

With this service running you can then share the printer on Windows, keeping the share name to one word such as D420. If you right click on the printer in Printers and Faxes you will see a Sharing menu. The same menu is available via the printers Properties pane.
With the printer connected to Windows and shared you can then add the printer queue on the Mac using IP > LPD for the protocol. You then enter the IP address of the Windows XP computer in the Address section and the share name set in Windows for the Queue Name. The last key step is to select the UFR2 driver in the Print Using menu.
Please note that the process above is not always successful with the UFR2 driver on the Mac. But it is about the only option you have to get this working on a network.

Printing from my macbook laptop to canon mx922 printer

I am trying to connect my MacBook laptop to print to a Canon MX922 printer.
I can connect via USB (and it prints successfully), and I can even send a wireless 'test print' page, however I want to print wirelessly.
I am connected to the wireless router (airport) and I am successfully able to print from an iPhone and iPads without difficulty.
However, this is proving to be very difficult.
Attached picture is the code I am getting when trying to print.
When I click Print, I can see the printer, then I select it, and then it does not let the "Print" button get dark to be selected.
If I click return the attached picture is what I get.
Help!?!?
