Problem Printing to Large Format Printers From SGD

I am having a problem printing to large format printers when using the PDF printing option for SGD. The SDG Universal PDF Viewer recognizes the print format that I specify but on the client device side the pdf that is produced is always Letter size. If a larger format is speciied the client side pdf displays a small portion of it - almost as if it were clipped at the Letter size. Has anyone experienced this. Is it an SGD problem per se or is it an issue with the Ghostscript configuration and if so is ther a way I can change the config?
I am running 4.6.2 in an RHEL5 environment. The application server I am primarily working with is Windows Server 2008. The printers I have tried to print larger formats to are HP CLJ 2800 PS (Tabloid size), HP Designjet Z6100 (E size), and HP DesignJet 4020ps(E size). In all cases the plot appears to have been clipped into a Letter size format on the client device side.
Thanks,

You may have encountered a limitation with the GARO driver, especially if it is connected to the USB port of the Express. We have an iPF8100 but it is connected directly to our network via Ethernet so I've never tested the printer via USB. But if the driver is anything like the consumer inkjet drivers, there is often issues with the driver determining the printer model on the end of the USB and this stops the printer queue creation.
Have you tried connecting the printer via Ethernet to the Express and then seeing if you can add the printer queue? You will have to set an IP address in the machine if DHCP is not enabled.

  • Trouble printing LARGE format images from Photoshop CC to Acrobat XI

Hi All, I had no issues printing a 1mtrx1mtr @ 300dpi image to Acrobat, now that I am trying a 2mtrx1mtr @ 300dpi it is not doing anything.
I get the initial Acrobat printer popup, tell it to print, photoshop CC says I may be printing something outside the print area (It's ok, it is the exact same size, I setup everything in the Acrobat settings), I click ok, then nothing, no matter how long I wait.
When I did the smaller one, a dialogue window appeard with a status of the print window, showing me how long it had to go.
I am on a deadline and support cannot help til Monday US time.
Any suggestions, I only have 8gb of ram, and that cannot be increased in this laptop.

When working at large format, the lpi (screen) and required resolution are normally reduced substantially, based on projected viewing angle [correction: distance], unless creating specialist immersive artwork (which is likely to push technological boundaries.) I recommend you work with your printer to find out the expected lpi and hence dpi.

  • Problems printing a high qaulity PDF from a document

    Hello,
Recently I have had some problems printing a high qaulity pdf (acrobat 9 pro) from a document made in 2010 word.
Every time I have tried to print these documents there is information missing in the pdf incuding text, pictures, shapes etc.. This was never a problem untill I installed 2010 word.
I sent it to a friend, and he was able to print the document into a pdf just fine.
What can I do to fix this? It is very important that I tackle this problem asap!
If you need to know any additional information, please ask.
    Thanks

Have you  checked to see if Acrobat 9 or any version of Acrobat works with Office 2010?

When I print PDF picture files imported from JPG using an HP Colour InkJet cp1700 printer, the picture spills over.  A wide range of other PDF files print OK.  Have tried things such as configuring the printer to scale to letter size, etc,, but without success.  Have a Windows 7 64 bit computer and Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.5.5.  Any ideas?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @rt70
I understand you're having some issues with printing PDF files from a website on Windows 7.
I would personally suggest trying to print from that website using a different web browser. If you're using Internet Explorer, try FireFox or Chrome, for example.
You can also try running the Print and Scan Doctor tool, that will search and try and fix printing issues.
If you have any issues that continue, please let me know what they are and which programs, websites, and web browsers you have tried, along with the results from running the diagnostic tool above.
Good luck and have a great day

  • CS5 Memory Problems, with Tiff large format

    Dear Friends
This problem hit many people before me and there was a lot of feedbacks and helps given, but my case is add on to all other responses.
I have PC with 12gb triple channel memory with I7 processor and 2gb Nvidia 460GTX graphic card, plus win 7 ultimate 64bit, and I though nothing should stop me. but I was wrong, at time it irritating and time consuming but so far no help.
I rendered an image in Accurender and saved 2 times ones JPEG and ones TIFF just so I have both to see which one will print better quality sharp etc. I have both 64bit photo shop and 32bit, when I open the JPEG 330mb, Photoshop opens and I can crop etc, but when I open the TIFF file which is 420mb I get message saying no enough memory, which you may seen or come across.
    Steps I took so far:
    ·         Gave Photoshop more memory through preferences, not that it needs 64bit! no change
    ·         Tried the openGL on and off, the card is Palit Geforce 460GTX and supports opengl 4, no help.
    ·         scratch disc if 200gb so no space shortage, I have 2x300GB disc space
    ·         Played with increasing the cache to higher or lower, no help.
    ·         Just incase you say is my image is corrupted, no the win preview loads the image no problems.
Similar problems with Adobe Indesign the large Tiff file can be placed on to A3 sheet all OK, but if I send to the printer I get message no enough memory, not sure if it is a printer memory or Indesign can handle the file, it handles 330mb JPEG no problem,
400~450mb file is not that big and should be working fine, is it the TIFF and why!!.
Have you come across this problems do you resolved please let me know.
    Biyoroob

Near as I can tell, you didn't actually say what the pixel count is in the large image that's causing you problems.  You mention "330 MB JPEG" and "420 MB TIFF"...  Is that 420 MB in the traditional photographic sense, or a file that's 420 MB on disk?  If the latter, it's not clear whether it is saved with compression...
Please clear this up - what's the pixel count, horizontally and vertically, in the TIFF file you cannot open?  Also, what's the color depth (bits/channel)?
At first blush, and if I'm interpreting what you wrote correctly, you might expect the file sizes on disk to show a greater difference between 330 MB and 420 MB (JPEG vs. TIFF), but that would depend on the content and whether you have compression in the TIFF.
And it seems at least part of your problem is with printing, yet you don't mention the printer brand/model at all...  What printer is it?  From the sound of things the limitations may be in the printer driver, not the app, but that's not clear.  How big is the print that's failing?  A3?

  • Problems printing to large paper size

    Hi,
    Using Acrobat 9
In my work, I use different programs for floorplans and renderings. I send to my Customers the documents as PDF file , and usually the scaled floorplans are in  large paper size (22x34 or up)
With one of the CAD programs, all works fine with paper size up to size C,  but if I choose, for example, Ansi D, I see a screen "Creating Adobe PDF" but nothing happens, the bar doesn't move and the file is not printed / saved
I'd appreciate any idea to solve this issue
    TIA

There are a couple of things you can try; 1.) see if you have enough system memory to process the page ( it could be running out of system memory ); 2.) set an invisible holding line to the page / document and lock it ( no stroke, no fill @ 13 x 19 ); 3.)  Use the Page tool ( if you haven't already ) and set it to the document, edge-to-edge.  Also, check you ink supplies, there may be an empty cartridge preventing you from printing the entire file.  Hope this helps.

  • Print Problem : Print description and tips from structures, nodes and loops from block diagram

    Hello,
I've just completed the entire documentation of my VI and I did describe some Case structures and Formula Nodes. Now I want to print the VI with the VI printer and when I select ''Description'' in the custom printer manager, it doesn't select the description from most functions in the block diagram such as Formula Node, Case Structure, etc.
Is there a way to get these descriptions in the printed version VI ?
    Thanks a lot !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Weepet,
After some investigation, it turns out that this behavior is expected behavior.  Please see the following help topic
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvhowto/creating_vi_and_object_de/
Essentially, Context Help will only display the description for controls, indicators, and constants.  At the same time, the descriptions will only print if that description is available in context help.  LabVIEW primitives will always use the description from the documentation, and will not display your custom "Description and Tips".  So, for primitives like case structures and formula nodes, we cannot get that information to print. The behavior that you're seeing is expected.
Perhaps you can just use comments to document these functions?  You can double click on a blank area of the block diagram and provide comments.

  • Unable to print from Photoshop CS4 in an iMac OS 10.6.3 to large format printer Epson 11880

Hi there! I was wondering if you could help me with this case.
Old computer: Mac G4  (purchased in 2002)
    Old OS: OS 10.4.11  (Tiger)
    CPU: Dual 1.25 GHz
    Memory: 2 RAM
    Software: Photoshop 7
Hardware: Large format printer: Epson 11880 (64” wide monster). Prints large posters, banners, etc.
As you can see, it is time for an upgrade...
    New computer: iMac
New OS: OS 10.6.3  (Snow Leopard)
    Processor Name: Intel Core i7
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
    Memory: 16 GB
    Software: Photoshop CS4
Hardware: Large format printer: Epson 11880
Situation: We hooked up everything and managed to print on the 11880 printer 2 times and printed two large format prints. On the third attempt, we encountered a serious problem...
Problem: After opening a file in Photoshop and sending it out for printing in the large format Epson printer, the file goes to the printer queue and stays there for 6 seconds, and then it disappears. It does not print. :-(
What we have done so far:
We made sure we downloaded the latest printer driver for this printer from Epson’s website.
The printer driver is correct. The computer talks to the printer and we are able to execute all the commands from the printer utilities panel. (i.e. check ink levels, clean heads, etc.)
And yes, the printer is okay, because we have been using it with the old G4 machine for about a year.
This problem got so frustrating, that we thought that something we transferred during the computer installation might be the culprit. So at one point we erased the hard drive on the new computer and reinstalled the operating system, and have not put any files from any old computers into this machine. The computer has nothing else in it. Except: The operating systems, and the Mac applications that come when the Mac comes out of the box. The only other program installed in it is Photoshop CS4 and the printer driver.
We were wondering if this was just a printing problem, period. So we added a small printer to the computer - and old Epson 2200 we have. We sent a file to this printer and there is not problem.
Perhaps, the file size might have been an issue? It does not matter. We can send a large 60 MB file to the printer or a small photograph measuring only 8 x 10, and these will linger in the queue for 6 seconds, and disappear never to be printed.
Temporary relief came when we got rid of Adobe Photoshop’s Preferences file. After getting rid of the file and allowing Photoshop to reconstruct it, we managed to print two large files on the printer. Then it failed again. Tried getting rid of the preferences again, and the trick did not work anymore. :-(
Another temporary relief came when we created another user in the computer. On the new user account it printed again a couple of times only to fail later.
And yes, the printer WILL print from other Mac programs. If for instance, we open a file on Preview, and send it to the printer and the file will be printed. And yes, we have managed to print very large files with this method.
In the last couple of days, we have spent 3 hours on the phone with the guys at Epson. They verified the driver and because the computer seems to be communicating with the printer and printing from other Mac applications, they suspected that the problem is with Adobe.
We called Adobe once, and spent 30 minutes with an Indian fellow who concluded that the problem was with how the computer handles the spooling. According to him, Photoshop sends the file to the computer and the computer seems to get rid of it. So he passed the buck and told us that the problem was with Apple.
We called Apple and spoke for 30 minutes with a friendly technician, who transferred us to a higher level techno-geek. I spent 1 more hour on the phone with Apple, and we tried everything. We went through Adobe’s knowledgebase and tried every suggested solution (see Adobe’s KB406452). It was with him that we found a temporary fix of removing the Preferences file, but the solution was short lived. He finally thought the problem was with Adobe as the printer is able to print from all applications EXCEPT Adobe Photoshop.
We called Adobe for the second time...and after waiting on hold from 1 entire hour, we got an Indian technician, that bless his heart, had a very thick accent and had no expertise, in my opinion. He was good at collecting data and he even made me share my computer screen so that he could troubleshoot the problem. After being constantly put on hold by him (because he had to consult with someone else), he passed the buck and said that it was Apple’s problem. I just told him that it was not as likely because all programs print EXCEPT Photoshop. After trying what I would consider a “hail Mary” of DELETING all the printers from my Library folder, and not replacing them, he recorded a case number for another Adobe technician to call us in a few days.
Because the above technician completely blew the Library, I just erased and reinstalled the OS. This time, I did not allow the OS to be updated - from 10.6.2 (that comes in the box), to 10.6.3. We tried printing using the 10.6.2 and had the same problem. :-(
Conclusion: I think it is a problem of Adobe CS4 not getting along with Apple’s new operating system. The Epson printer is doing fine, because it has been a product that has been in the market for almost 3 years. What is disappointing is that none of the companies wants to man up and say that it is a problem and that they are willing to work on it. Instead they pass the buck to the next company.
I can’t believe I am the only person experiencing this. Has anyone had this problem, and have you found a solution or workaround for it?

Dear Doyle, John and Gator Soup,
Thank you for your kind replies to my problem.
PS is assigned 70% RAM. In fact, I have never had so much RAM in my life. Files open at lightning fast speed! :-)  We have never considered a RIP as we do not have an intense workload. In fact all the files we have tried to print print well on our old G4 with Tiger and Photoshop 7, which at the moment has saved our butt. However it would be nice to get the new faster machine with Photoshop CS4 to talk to the Epson 11880.
Yes, we are printing directly to the printer. We have hooked up the computer via a 6 ft USB cable to the unit.
The specs and pixel dimensions of a typical file we print are:
Type of file: tif  (in this case it is an RGB file) // However, we avoid any color management from the computer or the printer when printing it at this time.
    File size: 60 MB
    Pixel size: 6796 x 3100
    Print size: 34" x 16" @ 200 dpi
I have not tried saving it as a pdf yet. Will try that next.
I did go to the Console on the Mac though, and recorded its activity between 5:14 pm - 5:19 pm when I tried to print a file.
Remember, the symptoms are:  We send a file to the printer...The file goes to the printer queue, and it lingers there for 6 seconds. The file then disappears.
Although there is a cryptic message of "invalid colorspace" in the log, I don't believe that the file is corrupt. First because we have tried several files, second because smaller versions of these can be printed in another Epson 2200 printer, and third because the large format images can still be printed using our old G4 machine with Tiger and Photoshop 7.
This might provide me with extra ammunition for when I call both Adobe and Apple on Monday. Apple has been quite good on customer support - particularly when they upgrade you to higher level geeks. ;-)   Do you have any idea I what time I should call Adobe so that I can get people on the western hemisphere to answer the phone? It seems that after a certain time they start speaking with an Indian accent over there.

  • Unable to print all photos in large format

Hello: I'm trying to print a large format (13x19) poster with about 80 images, each about 1.5" x 1.0". I have done this successfully during the past few months, but now only about 10 images show up in the preview panel when I set up to print; the rest of the rectangles consist of a big X from corner to corner, and a question mark in the center. A test print in grayscale on cheap paper produced exactly that same image. This is true for 11x17 as well as the 13x19 sizes. I have no idea why this is happening, and hope someone out there can tell me how to fix the problem.
    Thanks!
    medren

Medren...about the time you were posting your note, I was posting a similar note to the iWorks 09 forum, asking for help re exactly the same problem. I was working on a large file of 60+ high-res photos to print as a banner. Looked good, but when I went to print to pdf (for print shop), less than half the photos were showing. Rest were empty boxes with "?", just like you describe. The one response I got back said I probably didn't have enough ram memory. Problem is, I have max ram installed. So I pulled all photos, opened in Photoshop, and cropped them there (instead of using Pages' "Mask") and also reduced size of many of them. It worked. I now have a file with all photos showing that I can take to printer tomorrow. Hope this is a help to you!

  • 10.5.5 Update PROBLEM Printing to Xerox from inDesign

I just updated to 10.5.5 and I'm having problems printing from inDesign to a Xerox Phaser 7760. All print outs come out distorted (stretch horizontally) I called Adobe and the work around they gave me is when I hit print, under setup [Paper Size] must be set to "Defined by Driver" not the actual paper size you want to print. That now has to be set under the [Page Setup] tab. Very annoying and inexplicable.
The problem only occurs when I print to this specific printer from just inDesign. It doesn't happen with any other program or if I print to any other printers from inDesign.

    CarTravel wrote:
That solved it. For others that are interested, you need to either go to another machine that has 10.5.4 or download that image file from somewhere and do the following.
command-shift-G in the Finder to enable you to open the hidden folder, paste /usr/libexec/cups/filter/ as the go-to line. The file your looking to replace with the old system is called pstops. I saved a backup of the 10.5.5 version before replacing it with the older 10.5.4 You will need to log in as root in order to do the replacement of the files.
I would suggest someone try a safer and easier solution. Try installing Ghostscript. You can get a Mac OS X installer for Ghostscript at _http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foomatic_. This will leave your hidden system files intact so you don't accidently break something.
I don't guarantee that this will work, but given the solution that Justin Lancaster posted about using Rosetta brought using Ghostscript to mind. What I think may be happening is that when using the Adobe applications under Rosetta, the applications are sending PDF or PICT with PostScript to the printing system. When running natively on Intel Macs, I believe the applications are sending PostScript to the printing system. I have seen this with Adobe Reader 8. Printing from Adobe Reader 8 on an Intel Mac sends PostScript to the printing system. If Ghostscript is present on your system, it will use Ghostscript rather than the Apple supplied pstops filter.
I hope someone will give Ghostscript a try and report back. I don't have any of the mentioned Adobe applications to test this on. Ghostscript does come with an uninstaller, so it can easily be removed if it doesn't solve the problem or the issue with Apple's pstops filter is resolved.

    Hi,
I'd like to report a problem printing a scanned PDF document from iPad via HP ePrint application to my HP Photosmart Plus B209a printer. The document was sent to the printer without any issue. However, the printer only prints out the

I received the document from my teacher, so I don't know what program she used to scan it.
I tried to print the document directly from my PC which works fine though, so I guess the document is OK.
My HP printer is an old model which doesn't support eprint or air print, so I used the eprint application on iOS to print the document. I tried both color and black/white which gave me the same result: only the center screenshot image is printed out, and the image is enlarged and rotated to fit an A4 paper, the rest of the document is just ignored.
What do you mean by saving it as a document?

  • Problems printing envelope from pdf file with logo & return address.

I have the 6310 All-In-One Printer. I am experiencing major problems printing envelopes (standard size, #10) from a pdf file that is setup with a business logo, name , and address. First of all, the User Guide on page 63 directs you to load the envelope with the flaps up and on the left. This prints out return address in the lower right corner of the envelope front. I have insert the envelope opposite to the User Guide to get the information printed in the correct location, the upper left corner.
Bigger problem - The logo, which is placed to the left of the business name and address will NOT print out. My preview printer window shows the logo, but it will not print. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
    Suggestions???

  • Problems printing to network printers from Mac OS X 10.6.2

I have three network printers connected to my Mac by IPAddress. When I send any print job except a PDF to any of the printers I get 20 copies of my document. This is true no matter what application I am trying to print from, including printing a test page from the printer settings. I have reset the printing system by [Control] clicking in the Printers list box. I have tried different drivers, including the Generic print driver. All printers HP printers. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue on my WRT610N V2. I am using iMac Intel running 10.6.2. Error -36 prompted when copying files to the USB share disk from the Finder. Working fine when on PC running XP.
Another issue is DDNS can't report the router IP to DynDNS.com although it status that the update is successful and completed. After updated, the router's IP is still different to the IP shown on the DynDNS.com. I need to type the IP manually to the DynDNS.com
Hope the new firmware would fix these problems.
    Thanks
