Problem publishing iCal on Web

For a long time, I have been publishing my iCal on the web using my .Mac account.
Everything has worked fine until 2 days ago. Now my calender cannot be found.
Instead my colleagues and I get the message: "We're sorry but we cannot find the iCal you've requested. It's possible that it has been deleted or renamed."
I did not make any changes (that I know of) this week, and yet this has happened. Does anyone know what could be a solution?

I got help from the author of iCalpublish, and after following his advice my calender works!
"Most likely it's one or more of your events causing a problem. So, turn off the individual calendars, one by one, and republish until you find the one causing trouble. Then duplicate that calendar and systematically remove events until you find the culprit. It's probably a recent addition. Could be something strange in the comments (notes) of the event.!"

  • Published date in web view of published iCal calendar

    Why does the web view of an iCal calendar published through mobileme out of date? For instance, today is April 29 but when I look at my calendar as published on the web, it says the published date is April 28? check out http://ical.me.com/snapel/SandyNapel If you don't see today's date you know it is out of date... How can I fix this?

    snapel,
    Looks up-to-date to me. It displays "Published: Mon, May 3, 2010  |  US/Pacific"
    It may have been a temporary server problem.

  • Publish iCal to OS X Server 10.3.9 with WebDAV enabled--not working

    I've published iCal calendars to other servers with WebDAV enabled, but so far have not been able to publish to OS X 10.3.9 server with WebDAV enabled.
    Error message is: Calendar could not be published. This access has been forbidden by server.
    I'm using an administrative username and password to eliminate any question about access to specific directories, I've ensured that the site is WebDAV enabled using the OS X Server Admin gui (so, web/sites/domain name/ editing section, under Options). I've been unable to find any more detailed instructions on publishing to OS X server. Any suggestions, webpage tutorials, etc., greatly appreciated.
    FWIW, I suspect the folder location for where the .ics file would go on the server may be the issue. The web content is in Library/WebServer/foldername and this is where I put the calendar folder.

    Hi Jovan
    I don’t think its a problem with 10.3 server as such. You’ve got to remember that 10.3 is getting on a bit. As far as supporting the latest drive sizes Apple as well as other interested parties would devote their energies in supporting the latest operating systems. For example Microsoft have recently released Vista. Most interested parties will get on board the Vista bandwagon and start developing and writing drivers and software for that rather than XP. After a while you will start to see less and less being developed for the older operating system. I think this is just one of those times.

  • Publish ical on internet for any apple or window users?

    I would like to publish ical for my business. Therefore my clients can see what days I have available. I have tried ical exchange and am not able to get my friend to log onto it on their windows (mozilla) web browser. I have tried .web but run into the same problem. I do not want to use .mac if I have to because of the cost. I figure I have two options publish it to a site similar to ical exchange or publish directly to my website. I do not know how to either, any advice?

    You can use the publish feature of iCal to publish your calendar to either a .Mac account or any other URL which is running WebDAV services (WebDAV is a mechanism to allow file transfers over FTP - supported by Apache and many fine web server software).
    If your web site is not running WebDAV see if your system administrator can set that up for you.
    More information on WebDAV can be found here: http://www.webdav.org/
    Here are some hosting companies that support WebDAV: http://www.hosting-comparison.com/info/webdav-hosting
    For what its worth, I pay the $99 for .Mac and between the backup software and synchronizing my machines I think its worth it. The .Mac hosting and Email is just a bonus.

  • Event invitations not published to .mac web page with rest of calendar

    I've published a calendar to the .mac web server successfully, and the web page for the named calendar shows up fine in browsers at the appropriate URL.
    However, when I receive an invitation from somebody else, and accept it, and put it into that (published) calendar, that event does NOT get published to the web page. Any idea why?
    Example
    - Joe uses Google Calendar to invite me to a meeting
    - Google calendar sends me a .ics file in email
    - I open the .ics file (click in Apple Mail, which launches iCal)
    - I view the invitation in iCal; then change the status to "Accepted" (from Invited), and change the Calendar for this event to the Calendar I've published on .mac
    - (iCal properly notifies Joe via a reply .ics via email that I've accepted)
    - iCal is properly updating my schedule on .mac for all other events besides this meeting invitation; but the meeting invitation does not get pushed to the .mac web page for my calendar
    Item of note: In this use case, I am NOT the event Organizer; somebody else is. Is this why iCal doesn't do it? Or is there something I'm not setting correctly in iCal? Or...?
    This renders .mac-web-published calendars effectively useless, since a good share of my calendar is made up of people who email me .ics invitations, and (for various reasons) the person who manages my schedule has to use the .mac web UI for my calendar to know when she can dish out my time. (She doesn't actually put things in my schedule; just allots time.)

  • How do i publish to the web page?

    i put lion server on my MB Pro.  It's up.  When I http to the IP address, I get the default web page. my question is how do I publish to this web site?  I've tried FTP access and it doesn't look like that's supported.  I tried opening the site with dreamweaver and no joy.
    I'd like to just create a web page and publish it to the mac server but i don't know how.
    i guess I could create a web page in iweb and publish it to the sites\default but I was wanting to do it from a remote location.  is that doable?
    thanks

    I suggest you upgrade to the latest iWeb version while copies are still availalbe: iLife '11 - Apple Store (U.S.).  That's because it's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
    On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
    Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
    All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
    I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
    There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
    Click to view full size
    However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
    In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
    HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

  • Problems publishing to iweb

    I just want to thank everyone who post on here as your advice really does help.
    I had problems publishing to iweb and the following suggestions made by you all helped me overcome the difficulties I was having. I am posting this so that others who may be having the same problems as I was may sort their iweb out too!
    Obviously not all of these will help everyone and some people may disagree with what I have said but (touch wood) these ALL sorted out my iweb
    1. Empty your cache frequently.
    2. Do not use web counter/email me buttons
    3. rename your photos so that you are not using !@£$%^&*()_
    4. keep trying

    No, its not strange at all. When you set up a MobileMe account and publish a site from iWeb it publishes to your iDisk, which is your Apple server that host your site.
    Your url for an iWeb published site to MobileMe will be http://web.me.com/username/sitename. You don't actually need the sitename if you only have one site, so as OT has said http://web.me.com/username.
    No - reggie88.com is not your username, this is a domain name. www.reggie88.com is a domain name also, not a MobileMe username. Have you actually gone to a domain name registrar and registered a domain name? If you want to use a domain name with MobileMe, then you need to go and purchase one first from a domain name registrar.
    No - iWeb does not tell you in iWeb that you username is www.reggie.com. The only way that iWeb will have this at the bottom, is if you have logged into your MobileMe account and gone to the Personal Domain name settings section and entered a personal domain into here. Log into your MobileMe account and check whether you have done this - this is the only reason why iWeb will display this.
    Next question, do you actually own or have you purchased a domain name - reggie88.com? If you have, then you can use this domain with a MobileMe account, but there are other steps that you need to go through first to link the two.
    In the meantime, find your site by entering the url http://web.me.com/username which in your case is probably going to be http://web.me.com/reggie88 and you should get to your site.

  • Published ical calendar

    Hello everybody, it seems not to be possible to set the way a published ical calendar appears. If I have a look at it in the browser the week starts with sunday. This may be a us standard. Here in Switzerland we start the week with monday... I know it is possible to change the settings by every user. But I want it to be ready as I want to show it.
    Further: Does anyone know a good solution to export the calendar to a web editor, resp. to export a calendar as a website and then edit it in the web editor? I wonder why iCal does not support such a feature.
    Thanks for your inputs.

    Double post.

  • Publish iCal Local Account Calendar on OS X Server

    I'd like to publish my iCal calendar (iCal>Calendar>Publish...>Publish on: A private server) on my OS X Server 10.6.7 ().
    Whenever I attempt to do this using my local account on tthe server, I get the error:
    http://username@domain_name/Home.ics is not a location that supports this request.
    I've tried all the obvious stuff: turning off the firewall, sanity checking the iCal service authentication settings, everything obvious. I believe that this is an authentication issue for local accounts on OS X Server. Because the server is set up as a standalone (i.e., no network accounts, all local accounts), Open Directory is turned off, and there's no Kerberos authentication that I'm aware of.
    Would someone please tell me how how to publish iCal calendars of local accounts on OS X Server?

    According to iCal Server Administration, OS X Server requires an Open Directory account, so you cannot publish your local account's iCal calendar.
    You can, however, use iCal itself and a modification of the OS X Hint "Publish iCal calendars with local WebDAV server" to publish local account calendars.
    0. Server Admin>Web>Sites Turn on the Web with an enabled host name. Make sure that WebDAV is enabled under Server Admin>Web>Sites>Options. Enable SSL with your server's certificate under Server Admin>Web>Sites>Security to ensure that your personal calendar information is SSL encrypted over the web.
    1. Append this directive to the end of the file /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf:
    Include /private/etc/apache2/other/*.conf
    and make sure that there's no conf file in ./other that you may not wish to load, such as httpd-userdir.conf. Move these to *.conf.original or some such if necessary.
    2. Create the file /private/etc/apache2/other/httpd-webdav.conf with the contents:
    # WebDAV configureation for Publishing local account iCal calendars
    #  Based in part on Mac OS X Hint "iPublish iCal calendars with local WebDAV server Apps"
    # http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20020912065811863
    # copied from /etc/apache2/sites/0000_any_443_myserver.conf
    # which is automatically generated by Server Admin>Web
    # No need to replicate these directives here, so comment out
    #<IfModule mod_dav.c>
    #       DAVLockDB "/var/run/davlocks/.davlock100"
    #       DAVMinTimeout 600
    #</IfModule>
    <IfModule mod_dav.c>
      <Directory "/Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav">
        DAV On
        AuthType Digest
        AuthName 'WebDAV'
        AuthDigestFile /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
        AuthGroupFile /dev/null
    #    <LimitExcept GET HEAD OPTIONS>
          require valid-user
    #    </LimitExcept>
      </Directory>
    </IfModule>
    3. Create the apache htdigest authentication file:
    $ mkdir /private/etc/apache2/httpd
    $ chmod 0755 /private/etc/apache2/httpd
    $ touch /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
    $ chmod 0644 /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest
    $ htdigest /private/etc/apache2/httpd/.htdigest WebDAV username
    Adding password for username in realm WebDAV.
    New password: md5 hashed password
    Re-type new password: md5 hashed password
    4. Create the WebDAV directory:
    $ mkdir /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ chown www:www /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ chmod 0755 /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav
    $ mkdir /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    $ chown www:www /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    $ chmod 0755 /Library/WebServer/Documents/webdav/iCal
    and sanity check that the OS X Server davlocks directory /var/run/davlocks exists [it should!] and has www:www ownership with permissions 755 [it should!].
    5. Sanity check your apache config files:
    $ apachectl -t
    should yield "Syntax OK". Then Server Admin>Web>Stop and Start to restart your web server with the new configuration.
    5. Under your local account on OS X Server, iCal>Calendar>Publish... Publish on a private server with the URL:
    https://osxserver/webdav/iCal
    using OS X Server's local account username/password. Success will be reported with a URL of your calendar on the server.
    6. Under another client account from which you wish to subscript to your OS X Server local account's Calender, iCal>Calender>Subscribe... Enter the URL on OS X Server. You will be prompted for the htdigest name/password pair you created above -- enter this, not the username/password of your local account on OS X Server. Even though you should be protecting this channel with SSL and md5, don't reuse your username/password to access the WebDAV directory you created. You will now be subscribed to your local account's iCal Calendar residing on OS X Server.

  • Problems with iCAL,iPHOTO and Windows XP (using parrallells) after Leopard

    I installed Leopard and now iCAL won't publish to the web. When you try to access it from the web it says the page can't be located... that the calendar may have been deleted or renamed. No body at Mac can figure it out so far.
    I also can no longer open iPHOTO or any applications in Windows XP which I run from Parralells. This is a new issue that just occurred 3 days after the intial installation of Leopard.

    Because I created FAT32 partition using Boot Camp tool few days ago I installed my custom copy of Windows XP with SP3, IE7 and WMP10 integrated using nLite (for WMP10 integration use RVM Integrator). I did not use Boot Camp tool this time - I just booted CD using Option key. Then I installed Boot Camp 2.0 drivers you can find on Mac Disk 1. After this I installed Boot Camp drivers 2.1 update. In Add or remove Programs I checked drivers - I uninstalled old drivers which call identical, but you can skip this. Everything works fine BTW it is better to format your partition to NTFS - you have much less disk errors, you do not waste time for disk errors scans during Windows startup, your data are much more safe. If you need NTFS write permissions use great tool Paragon NTFS for Mac OSX or open source NTFS driver.

  • Problem Publishing to HTML

    I don't know if this should go in the Flash or Dreamweaver Forum, but I have a Flash document that I need to translate into HTML. When I publish my file, I open it in Dreamweaver and instead of the gray box with a flash icon in the middle, I get the "Get Adobe Flash Player" Icon. along with the line of text: "This page requires Flash Player version 9.0.124 or higher." I have Flash Player 11, so this shouldn't be a problem. What's even more frustrating is, for testing, I opened a flash document that I already have published to the web and when I publish that file, everything works just fine. I have the Publish settings identical between the two files. I have the SWFObject.js and AC_RunActiveConent.js in my folder with the published file. I also have both of these javascripts in the folder of my previous file.
    Has anyone encountered this and knows what could be wrong?
    In Dreamweaver, when I preview in browser, it comes up OK in Firefox and Chrome, but in IE I get the icon about the Flash Player.
    Also, in Dreamweaver, I can't get my file centered.

    When you are testing locally in IE, are you see a yellow bar running across the very top of the Flash? This is an IE security feature for Active X. Be sure to "Allow Blocked Content". That may be all that it takes.
    If you are still having problems, post a link to the actual page so we can all take a look. Then it should be very easy to spot the problem.
    To center your Flash, you'll need to place the Flash in a container and give that container a set width... it can't be 100%.
    Not sure of your HTML skills.... but think of it this way... give the Flash container a width, 960px for example, and then give both the right and left sides an auto margin, like this in the <head>.
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    #flash {
    border: 0px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
    width: 960px;
    background-color: #ffffff;
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    -->
    </style>
    This will center the container <div id="flash">

  • VIDEO CUTS WHEN I PUBLISHED ON THE WEB

    Hi all,
    My name is Dario. I am working in one society for worker's formation.
    I often use Captivate CS 6.
    I have one problem, when I upload one video (video lesson) in Captivate and export a SCORM document, the video published in the web, cut last second.
    I don't understand.
    In my project a slide's duration is same at video's duration.
    Could somebody help me?
    Thanks

    Hello Dario,
    When you inserted the video, did you insert the event video or Multi Slide Synchronized Video, or is it a Video recording done in Captivate?
    Do you face this issue when you publish your Project and see that locally?
    Make sure that there is no effect applied onto that video like Fade out only in the Properties of that Video.
    and also check from edit>Preferences> Project> start and end> fade out should not be checked.
    Thanks.

    If all of your credentials are correct, Server Name/IP Address, Username, Password, Root Directory and it's still not connecting, I would try toggling the Passive FTP checkbox.
    If you still can't connect in DW, try downloading a third party FTP program like Filezilla (free) and uploading there. If the third party app doesn't work either, there is likely a problem with your credentials and you would need to contact your hosting provider to straighten it out.

  • Cannot publish album to web gallery, nor to iweb

    today, I tried publishing an album to my web gallery and iphoto "quit unexpectedly" then (after the relaunch), I tried going to preferences, which caused it to quit again. nothing I do seems to resolve this (I've restarted, and have also tried deleting the prefs file - numerous times).
    then I tried to send the album to iweb - and iweb "quit unexpectedly" as well. even worse, now iWeb won't even launch! (keep getting the "quit unexpectedly" error. (I've tried deleting the prefs file for iweb and iapps as well, to no avail.)
    otherwise, iphoto works fine - it's just when trying to send to iweb, publishing to web gallery, or accessing the preferences that it freezes (and quits).
    the last time I tried coordinating these apps (and publishing to my web gallery) was a month ago, and everything worked perfectly. could this be related to a bug in a recent software update?
    can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I'm terribly frustrated...
    thanks!

    Thanks for the link, I just installed the update and rebooted. Unfortunately, the problem persists!

This was supposed to make my life easier! )

  • Problem publishing my iWeb site to new server

    I have a problem publishing my site to a new server HostGator.
    I click publish, everything continues normally, then I get an ERROR notice:
    Publish Error
    There was an error communicating with the FTP server.
    Try again later, or check with your service provider
    Since I changed the settings for the new server all the iWeb pages symbols go pink every time I close and reopen iWeb.  Once I have tried to publish and get the ERROR notice I see that most of the pages have turned blue (suggesting they have been correctly published) and the same 5 pages remain pink (suggesting they have not been published)   I have used the HostGator link
    http://gator694.hostgator.com/~carouge1/carouge-art/Welcome.html
    to look at the uploaded pages.
    All the pages are on their server file BUT the pages which remain pink on iWeb have problems. These problems (missing photos etc.) don't seem to affect the pages when the site is called up normally. The site is apparently still being uploaded to people’s computers through MobileMe eventhough I have changed the server settings! So I’m assuming the page problems will show up after MobileMe stops at the end of this month?  I cannot find an explanation for the failed pages from HostGator or from the Apple online answers.
    Grateful for any advice.

    I am having a similar problem trying to upload from iWeb through FTP to MacHighway web hosting.
    I am using iWeb 3.0.4, the latest version.
    I have followed the instructions on the MacHighway site: https://customers.machighway.com/knowledgebase.php?action=displayarticle&id=10
    When I type "public_html" into Directory/Path window in iWeb I get the following message:
    Testing failed.
    The directory/path couldn't be found.  Verify your settings and try again.
    When I type "/public_html" or /public_html/" into Directory/Path window in iWeb I get the following message:
    Testing failed.
    A connection to mel.machighway.com couldn't be established.  Verify your settings and try again.
    Unlike carougeart, however, nothing gets uploaded.
