Problem publishing large photo albums

I'm using iWeb (iLife'08) to create several a photo gallery: there is a page with the gallery showing all the albums, and each album has 100 to 200 pictures. The albums were created in iPhoto and "inserted" into iWeb using iWeb's media tools.
Publishing to .Mac has been very frustrating: 1st time I created the entire site, with 10 albums (2000+ pictures all together) and a couple of regular text pages. When I tried to publish iWeb took forever, went into working in the background and eventually came back with an error about not being able to connect to .Mac and to check my internet connection. Needless to say I checked it and it was all good: able to login, plenty of iDisk space available, etc.
2nd time I decided to start with just one album in the gallery. This time it worked. I started adding (to iWeb) one album at a time and then publishing "changes". It takes some time but it works. However, if I change anything in one album (already published) and add a new album iWeb will again take forever just to come back with an error about the connection to .Mac.
is there a practical limit to the size of albums in iWeb? Should I use iPhoto directly to create a photo gallery in .Mac and use iWeb to link to it? What is the best way to use these tools to create a large photo gallery?

Keep it down to about 24 photos per album and 6 albums per page. You can always add more album pages and have an index page to get to them.

  • Question about the Canon 8400F and scanning large photo albums

    Hi,
Besides scanning negatives, slides, and individual photos, I will be visiting one of my relatives who is the "keeper" of some big family photo albums. If I recall correctly, the albums are pretty large and there are quite a few pictures on each page. I think (?) the pictures are permanently on the pages. Will this be a problems scanning the pictures in?
I think the albums are about the width of a full size keyboard and about twice the heigth.
Any help here would be appreciated. I do hope the pages can be individually removed one at a time from the album, but I do think that the pictures are permanently attached to the pages.
    Thank you very much
Also, how good is the instruction booklet that comes with the scanner?
    Thanks again

Will this be a problems scanning the pictures in?<<<</div>
Your only problem will be in positioning the album on the scanner. The included CanoScan software allows you to scan in multiple photos and the software automatically separates them.

  • Screen Saver with large photo album

I love the new options for using my photo albums as screensavers in Mountain Lion but I've noticed a particularly annoying bug...  I have a very large album (2,000+ photos) that I have been adding my favorite memories to for many years which makes a great screensaver/slideshow.  After updating to OS 10.8 I've noticed that photos seem to repeat, a LOT.  I keep it set to random but with this many photos I should not expect to see the same photo 10 times over 10 minutes...  Any thoughts?

I've encountered the same problem on different machines with Mountain Lion installed (iMacs and Mac Pro). To whoever I'm showing off my photos (300+ per event or folder) with the new slideshow themes in the screensaver options, they recognize after two minutes that there are photos repeating all the time.
I've counted and the following pattern turns out: after just 15 randomly picked images it shows the first 5 images of the slideshow again. Then 15 random and then again the same 5 first images and so on.
So, what the people remember after seeing the slideshow is just these five images, because they are displayed over and over again! Thats a really annoying bug.

  • Problems creating web photo album

Hi,  I've been creating web photo albums in CS3 using Fireworks over the last five years.  The last album I created was in February 2012
    http://www.classictennismatches.net/images/index11.htm
However, I have been trying to create a new album since Saturday and it wont work, the thumbnails nor pictures are just not been retrieved from the parent folder on my computer and I just get the page created with thumbnails not manifesting or collected in the images folder.  I always have Fireworks opened before creating the album.
Does anyone have any ideas why I am not able to create proper photo albums all of a sudden?  Any help will be appreciated.

  • Ever since upgrading to iOS5, I've had problems with my photo albums. Anybody else having problems?

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 and updated to iOS 5 on the release date. Ever since, I've had all kinds of problems with photos. In my albums, whether it be Camera Roll or Photo Stream (which I have since disabled), either the thumbnails are repeated when they shouldn't be, or they appear as a gray box. If I do happen to see a photo, it's blurry. In either case, if I choose "Edit" the correct picture appears and is clear. If I save or cancel, it either goes back to the wrong photo or the gray box. I do not sync my photos. I've searched all over the net and can't seem to find anything about this being a known issue. Has anybody else had this happen and if so, what did you do to fix it?

    Reset all settings !
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
That helped me with the same issue.
    Good luck !!

  • Problem syncing large photo library

I have a iPad 64GB and cannot sync my iPhoto library of 7000 photos. It syncs then states then when I select the photos on the ipad it hands saying "updating library" then crashes.
The library syncs fine to my iPhone and everything else seems to work - I also have plenty of space left on the iPad. Wierdly I can see and choose all the photos when I goto choose the background images but just cannot access them through the photo app.
    Any ideas?

I have one iPhoto library with around 7000 photos, filled in different Albums (around 250) within other folders in iPhoto.
I have tried resetting the iSync history, deleting the iPad iPhoto cache, resetting the iPad etc etc. I have tried to delete any corrupt looking photos and have managed to import the whole iPhoto library to the iPad by selecting to sync it when all the photos are placed in one folder.
I run an art gallery and have different folders for each artist's work. iPhoto is a fantastic tool for this and I have found the iPhone invaluable for showing clients paintings - the iPad should be even better. So it is crucial for me to keep the folders. I have now managed to sync all the folders (and photos) by placing all my artist albums in one folder and selecting that to sync. This works. But what doesn't work is when I select the default, and just sync the entire iPhoto library with Events et al. Then it crashes whilst the Photos App is "Updating Library" after the sync. Then I am left with a malfunctioning iPad which keeps reseting with the Apple logo and spinning wheel inside.
So I have found a work around but it is not exactly perfect - very annoying. Especially as my crappy iPhone 3GS syncs perfectly and can handle all of the folders .....although admittedly not the Events. I wonder if it is the Events that are the problem?

  • TC problem printing large photos

I have a canon mp530 hooked up to the usb port on my 1gig TC. It prints documents fine, but whenever I send a picture file to be printed, it begins to print but stops just a few seconds into it. After a while, the printer just ejects the unfinished document. I tried hooking up my computer via ethernet to see if it was a speed issue as the picture is rather large, but the same problem occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my Canon MP830.
Direct USB works fine, but printing thru AEBS, large document just stops.

  • Error message when I try to publish an iWeb photo album with audio to Mobileme:

I get the following error message when trying to publish a photo album with audio from iWeb to Mobileme.  I've checked my account and I have plenty of available space on Mobileme and have logged in there.
An error occurred while publishing file “/private/var/folders/qg/qg-Qwo-82RWdDU+8ZNhusU+++TI/TemporaryItems/com.apple.i Web_9121_TEMP_344183369_3/sites/Site/Grand_Canyon_11_Slideshow_part_1_2_files/or iginal_2.jpg”. Try publishing again later.
Is there a problem with my photos or other content (I've added some songs to play in the slideshow)
    Dan H.

First see if you can publish your site to a folder on your hard drive.  You can select the folder by clicking on the site's folder in iWeb and using the Publish To: menu.
If that's successful try the following:
delete the iWeb preference files, com.apple.iWeb.plist and com.apple.iWeb.plist.lockfile, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • How to improve performance of photo albums and navigation?

I just uploaded the latest version of my new website (www.raydunakin.com) last night. I've made a lot of changes in an effort to make it load faster and work more smoothly. There is some improvement but on my Mac, with dialup, there are still some issues.
One big issue is photo albums. I don't understand why they load so slowly, when it's only loading thumbnail images. The thumbnails are too small to account for the excessive load time. Often there are several that don't load up all until sometime after I click the browser's Stop button.
Which is another issue: Why does it keep loading stuff after I've clicked Stop?
I've stripped my albums down to just 15 images per album, so the number of images shouldn't be a problem.
BTW, I gave up on using the "My Albums" template, which was impossibly slow. Instead I just have a page with a list of links to each album.
I'm wondering if having everything all in one site might be causing some of the speed problems. Would I be better off moving my photo album pages to a separate site and just link to them from the main site?
One more question: Many of my hypertext links are not displaying correctly. They are supposed to all be underlined and in a different color from the plain text. Some of them do show up this way, but some look like plain text until you move the cursor over them. (And yes, I have used the Inspector to set the format for all the links.)
Also, if anyone would like to browse my site and suggest other ways to improve or streamline it, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any help or comments you can provide.
    I'm running OS X 10.4.10, Safari 2.0.4, and iWeb 2.0.3

To me it's not taking all that much time... It's quite normal if you're publishing to .Mac... The .Mac server is quite slow, that's a known issue... Partially it may also be due to the template used but I don't think so... There aren't a lot of graphics on that one...
Often there are several that don't load up all until sometime after I click the browser's Stop button.

I didn't came across any that didn't load and when I hit stop it stops.

No that's not the issue. The site size doesn't matter as when you look at a page the browser only retrieves the information about that very page and doesn't even see all the other pages as it follows the links to retrieve the parts of that very page and that's it. What matters is the page size but it isn't heavy at all in your case...
One more question: Many of my hypertext links are not displaying correctly. They are supposed to all be underlined and in a different color from the plain text. Some of them do show up this way, but some look like plain text until you move the cursor over them. (And yes, I have used the Inspector to set the format for all the links.)
You may try a "Publish all" from the File menu for that... Or empty the cache of your browser...
Also, if anyone would like to browse my site and suggest other ways to improve or streamline it, I would appreciate it.
I like it it's very clean and easy to navigate.
One other problem with the photo albums that I forgot to mention... When clicking on a thumbnail to view the larger image, while the image loads it looks like nothing is happening. There's no evidence that the image is loading or anything. So by the time the larger image appears, I've already attempted to move on. Is there anything that can be done about this?
It takes a second to load but in the end it does load... To me it's the server's slowness even if not publishing to .mac...

  • Can't see photos while creating a photo album

    Hello,
Why will my pics not show up when trying to create a photo
album in DWCD3? I have tried to open any photo, but it never shows
in the folder as being there. They are all jpg, of gif so I am
    puzzled how to create this?
    Thanks
I have fireworks cs3 loaded. no matter what photo folder i
navigate to, no pictures show up once the folder is open? I know
all of these pics are in jpg or gif, as they are my photos.
    Any help?
    Angie

Angie, are you having the problem during the photo album
creation process, or after it finishes? I'm guessing that it's
    after it finishes.
I suspect you're running into a pathing issue, as if you've
specified &quot;images&quot; as the directory where to
create your album, the Create Web Photo Album routine will place
the index.htm file in the images directory, and the thumbnails in
an images\thumbnails subdirectory with the full-size images in an
    images\images (yes!) subdirectory.
If you then run your index.htm file from where it is, it
should work fine. But if you move it (or copy the code to a file)
to your web's root directory, the path to the images will be
broken. So you've got to edit the code to correct the new pathing.
Anyway, if this isn't it, or if you're still having trouble
with this, please be a little more specific about where exactly you
are running into the problem and we'll try to help.
    Cheers!

  • Importing photo albums

Hello,I am in need of some help. I have several large photo albums on my iPod touch 4th generation that I need to syn to iPhoto on my new Mac account. The Camera roll album has been imported but I need to import the rest. I also need to create the contacts on my iPod already.
Thanks for the help in advance!

You can only export photos from the camera roll.  The other photos were synced to the iPod and you have to get them from the source (the computer they were synced from)..\
Note: You can import only photo and video content taken with the built-in camera or captured on the device. You cannot import photo or video content synced from iTunes.
    Above from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
However, one of the third-party programs discusses here may be able to do that.
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
    This may help:
How to transfer or backup iPod contents to Mac - Windows mac iPhone iPod software reviews - Software Wiki
It sounds like you are switching syncing computers.  You need to move/copy the iPod backup file from your old computer and move it to your new computer.  Then restore you iPod from that backup. That file is located:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Then you can set up itunes to sync the Mac address book to your iPod.  If you have at least one contact in the Mac's address book, the sync process will fill the Mac's address book.

  • Problem starting adobe photoshop album starter edition 3

When I start my adobe album starter edition 3 i get an error code c0000005 address 1b816f56. In adobe log file i get this:
    261:Initializing Model...

    please help

    Hi -
I'm having a problem with my photo album 3.2 edition. I use this program to crop or contract my pictures for my ebay selling. Most of the pics I take have either a white or black background and the problem I'm having is really noticeable on pics with white backgrounds. When I click on a pic in the ALBUM, that I want to edit/FIX the whole picture takes on a yellowish hue so as I'm fixing it, it looks very strange and then when I'm done editing, it goes back to normal again. I've been using this for a while now and I've never had this problem and cannot figure out what the heck is going on - it's making me nuts. HELPPPPPP!!!!! I tried looking at my preferences to see if the program was setup to automatically correct it when I click on the picture to edit? but that's not even an option so I don't know what else to do and I've searched all around. Any and all info would be appreciated :) Thanks

Does someone knows how to fix this??

Have you tried connecting the iPad to your computer and using iTunes to restore to factory settings? These are the basic steps.
    You can read more here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Do not restore from a backup at the end if you want to restore as new.
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
    Click Restore
