Problem saving attachments with longish filenames
We're having a problem saving attachments from Mail that are 25+ characters in length. ie. If we click on the "Save" attachment button in Mail, we get an alert that the file can't be saved because it's too long. We can drag the file to the desktop, but then can't move it without getting the "name is too long" alert. We have to change the name, deleting a bunch of characters. Using HFS+. Anyone have a solution?
When you drag the attachment to the desktop you should be able to click on the file's name then edit it so it's less then 25 characters. Try saving it again after deleting some characters.
We just switched from OS 9.4 to OS 10.4 (Intel) and found that Photoshop did not recognize any of the pics in our folders because we haven't been saving them with the file extension (i.e. jpeg, eps, etc.) We had to open all our pic files then add the extension. Apparently our old Macs could recognize a photo file but our new ones need the extension to be able to read the file. So if your file name is too long it's probably cutting off the extension - your computer won't let you save it until you make room for the file extension at the end.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a scenario where, i have attachment (PDF) are getting attached through Proxy. I need to save these attachments to Live Link Folder.
I have seen some posts here where they have explained the java code used in UDF to read the attachments. I have implemented that. The problem is Message mapping when i test is working fine, no errors. But the operation mapping throws the error. I have checked the "Read Attachments" Flag but still it doesn't work.
Can any body please help me with some blog or steps that explains the steps.
Also i read on SDN that only XML attachments can be read, but that also didn't worked for me.
Any help will be really appreciated
Thanks

The file that you downloaded is a self-contained running application that installs the update on your computer. After you download that file, you need to double-click on it and follow the prompts to install it. After it has completed you will have Lightroom 4.4 installed and it will be ready to run. If you are on a Windows computer, the installation will replace your 4.1 installation. If you are on a Mac then you will have both versions installed and you will have to be sure you start the right one.

Hello.
At my work, we use JavaMail (version 1.4.1) in server
programs, processing mails with attached files from customers. Mostly it is
TIFF images, but it can also be PDF
files, and the attached files are extracted and saved for further processing.
Sometimes, we have a problem, reading attached PDF
files. The files get saved, but is of size 0 bytes. If I forward it, however,
using an Outlook client, the forwarded item can be read by our JavaMail program, and files saved OK.
I have tried to forward it using JavaMail, but I cannot
compose the mail parts, that fails, however - of the same reasons: I cannot
read the them in:-)
It looks like it's when the mail is send from a Mac.
Anyway, the part to read is of content type "APPLICATION/APPLEFILE" whereas when it's forwarded, it's content
type is "APPLICATION/OCTET-STREAM"
The way, I read the part, is to check if the part is an
instance of an InputStream, and then saving into a byte array, like this:
h5. Object
obj = part.getContent();
if (obj instanceof
InputStream) {
InputStream
inStream = part.getInputStream();
byte[]
buffer = new byte[BUFFER_SIZE];
int
bytesRead;
BufferedOutputStream
outBufStream = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(attFileName));
while
((bytesRead = inStream.read(buffer)) != -1)
outBufStream.write(buffer,
0, bytesRead);
inStream.close();
h5. outBufStream.close();
Problem
is that .read() method always returns -1 when content type Is APPLICATION/APPLEFILE,
so a file of 0 bytes are created.
Interesting is perhaps, that debugging shows me that the
part instance of the InputStream actually is a
com.sun.mail.util.BASE64DecoderStream when it fails, and a
com.sun.mail.util.QPDecoderStream
when it works OK.
So I have this idea, that I's a certain type of decoder
stream we're missing? We use Java 1.6.0 update 10 and JavaMail 1.4.1. and since
we use java 1.6 we use the JAF framework from that one, I guess?
Hope you guys can help?
Thanks in advance, Per Jensen
[email protected]We have two (MS Exchange) servers (from trace log):
Microsoft Exchange IMAP4rev1-server version 5.5.2650.23
Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 IMAP4rev1 server version 6.5.7226.0
- the first one is the one, we're using here, but I have tried on the other, newer version too, and it didn't help either.
But I've found out a couple of interesting things:
1: Debugging shows me, that the part instance of the InputStream actually is a com.sun.mail.util.BASE64DecoderStream when it fails, and if I forward the mail via Outlook as described earlier, and it can be read OK, the part is a com.sun.mail.util.QPDecoderStream instance.
2: I can save the WHOLE message to a file, using message.getInputStream(), and when I opens the file I can find the individual attachments - as well as the bodytext, if any - as they are separated with the disposition, mimetype and filename fields, showed as plain text. And the attachments are showed as blocks of characters; I guess it's the ascii character representation of the bytes. Here's a snippet, note the first two sentences. They seemes to be added, somehow, when I dump the message to file(?):

<END OF DUMPED FILE>I understand that it's base64 encoded and must be decoded, and I have tried to copy/paste the blocks separately, run them through the com.sun.mail.util.BASE64DecoderStream, and saving them as PDF files, which works fine(!).
As the solution seems to be painfull: Parse the mail to find where the attachments starts and stops and saving them as files, I hope you guys can send me on the right track?
PS: The trace log when dumping the file shows everything OK, I think. Here's a bit of the log at the end of dumping the message:

Timeout Problems reading from Agilent 53151A Counter
Hello again:
I'm having a problem programming the Agilent 53151A counter. For some reason, the timeout error (code -1073807339) would always pop up at the end of the VI execution. The error occurs in the VISA Read part of the VI. I've placed a 20 second timeout in the VI, but I'm still having trouble reading it.
I find it incredibly frustrating because the same VI was working well a couple days ago. Now I can't get the thing to read.
It's not a communications problem because it says on the counter that it's being controlled remotely (which is through the GPIB).
I've attached a copy of the VI if you want to see the problem.
Attachments:
53131ReadFrequency.vi 80 KBThere's a couple of things you might want to try. First, I would take out the VISA Clear before you run it every time. The clear operation may not be complete by the time you issue the measurement command so the instrument might not be receiving it and you'd have nothing to read back - causing the read timeout. The other thing is the triggering status of the counter. If its set to trigger on some level and the signal's not there, you might not get anything back. There is also a driver for the instrument available. You can find it here. It uses the traditional GPIB commands instead of VISA but it's pretty easy to modify.

Problem reading RFC values from IRecordSet !!!!
Hi All,
I am having some problem reading values from IRecordSet. Can not seem to parse the output structure from RFC. AM using connector gateway service to execute BAPI_EXCHRATE_GETCURRENTRATES.
Here is the code,
MappedRecord input = rf.createMappedRecord("input");
input.put("DATE",new String("01011990"));
input.put("DATE_TYPE", new String("V"));
input.put("RATE_TYPE", new String("M"));
MappedRecord output = (MappedRecord) ix.execute(ixspec, input);
Object rs = null;
IRecordSet recSet = null;
Object result = output.get("EXCH_RATE_LIST");
if (result == null) {
response.write("<BR>null");
rs = new String(" ");
} else if (result instanceof IRecordSet) {
IRecordSet irs = (IRecordSet) result;
response.write("<BR>Got some dataaa");
IRecordMetaData rsmd = null;
rsmd = irs.retrieveMetaData();
irs.beforeFirst();
while(irs.next()){
response.write("Row::"+irs.getString("RATE_TYPE")+" "+irs.getString("FROM_CURR")+" "+irs.getString("EXCH_RATE"));
Am getting the pritn statement, Got Some Data on the PDK component.
But somehow not able to read the values from IRecordSet
What is the mistake here?
Pls help
Edited by: Aakash Jain on Oct 11, 2008 12:22 AMHi
Try in this way.
IRecordSet resultTable = (IRecordSet)outputParams.get("TABLE_NAME");
for(resultTable.beforeFirst(); resultTable.next(); ) {
response.write(resultTable.getString(0));
response.write(resultTable.getString(1));

Problem with attachments and antivirus.scanners
Hi!
Problem is: Sending any attachment from Tiger (10.4.8) mail, all attachments are removed by a virus scanner at receiving end:
This message was modified by F-Secure Anti-Virus E-Mail Scanning.
Tried Windows friendly, text only, repair permissions, sending under other isp etc. no help.
If this same message with same attachment is send from next mac with Panther, it is received ok.
Receiving company is big and wont alter their virus-scanners and the problem clearly lies in Tiger.
Any help welcome.
Mac OS X (10.4.8)The subject of your message should have been "Problems with attachments and F-Secure antivirus" since this is not a problem with all antivirus software, only with F-Secure.
Check this thread for a possible temporary solution when sending attachments to those who use F-Secure.

hi
my name is kapil and i am trying to open one (which is downloded) pdf document.which giving me an error as there was an error processing a page. there was a problem reading this document (110) for some page only. i am using acrobat reader x. is it any 3d setting or any thing else please give me an idea. i am waiting for replay as soon as possible...........
your sincerely
KAPIL TRIVEDIWhen I encountered an error "there was a problem reading this document 110" in Acrobat Pro 11 on 28.7 MB CS6 file, it indeed was very frustrating.
I solved my problem, but since I don't know which step benefitted me, I've to enumerate all the steps I took:
Read below:
1.1. I could copy the file anywhere on the drive, but couldn't 'save as' from Acrobat Pro.
1.2. No document security was applied of any sort on the file.
1.3. Still in the first tab of the document properties, all details under advance section were empty. No 'PDF Version' 'location' 'file size' etc were populated. Nothing.
1.4. I couldn't change and save anything in any of property dialogue. I could comment on the text, but as soon as I tried to save, it gave an error (some sort of 'File reading' error).
1.5. When I tried to extract a page (I tried many), it gave 'reading error'.
1.6. I didn't try 'splitting error'. Since I was 100% sure, it'll give me same reading error.
1.7. I opened the file in Firefox and tried saving it as pdf from there. But no error, but no save either.
1.8. I ran 'Remove Hidden Information' from protection panel without any errors.
1.9. I tried 'sanitize document' from the same tab, but didn't succeed.
1.10. Then (here I think the problem was resolved), from Document Processing panel, I did some commands. 1st, 'Export all images', successfully. Then 'Remove all links', it found 0.
1.11. Then in 'print production' panel, I clicked/tried to open acrobat distiller. The same opened, did some processing. But I don't know if it did something in solving the problem or not.
1.12. Although I think my problem was resolved till now, but the last step I did was 'Saved As' the file (from the file menu) as a .ps file. Though I've not yet reopened/used that ps file (to convert it into a pdf file again). But around here I wanted to close the file and it asked me whether I wanted to save the file, I said yes. And it saved the file correctly. And I checked that in properties dialogue, the missing information was populated too.
1.13. Sorry for so lengthy instructions, but I had no choice. -
There was a problem reading this document (117)
Dear Designers
I am facing a strange problem while doing test presentment in Adobe output designer. When i do a test presentment with my dat file which is meant for fax (^job newFax -fform01F.MDF) , i see the pdf (consist of 2 pages ) but as soon as i scroll down to next page (Pg 2) of my pdf ; it giving me a Adobe reader error pop up "There was a problem reading this document (117)" and when i click OK and comes to page 2 (i'm seeing the content of Pg2 curerntly) and scroll back to page 1 the data on page 2 goes blank. What could be the possible reason for this ? I assume the flaw is on Adobe reader side , but please brighten me with the knowledge if there is some issue on dat file side.
Any possible guidance or help would be highly appreciated
thanks
jaYSorry, I do not quite understand what your problem is:
you have a problem with signing in to the ExportPDF service ?
you have a problem opening PDF files ? If so, are these local or online documents?
P.S. Reader XI and earlier will no longer support Document Cloud PDF services as of May 20; see https://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-5891 -
As a result of this error, I cannot delete pages in a big PDF file I have of 1032 pages.
The error, famous on the web and in Google, is:
there was a problem reading this document (15)
I hope I can find a solution for this, because I cannot delete the unnecessary pages inside the document which is driving me crazy.
Adobe Acrobat X has a very poor quality testing. In fact I don't beleive Adobe test their products, I think they just program them, label them as the finished product, ASK FOR A HIGH PRICE, OF COURSE, and release them to the market creating a lot of nightmares and headaches to the customer.
Adobe Acrobat X crashed several times when the files have flash content inside or formularies. The program, simply, is bad programmed with a very poor engineering inside.
As soon I find an alternative for PDF, I will switch, I promise, in fact I don't promise it, I SWEAR IT.
And if I dont find a solution for this I will put in my car a banner that says "DON'T BUY ADOBE ACROBAT, IS THE WORST PROGRAM YOU CAN FIND!"
I'm loosing days and days of work, this is costing me problems and money.Yes, there is something wrong with the document. That is the defective programming the Adobe engineering team did. And please, allow me to explain you why it is defective. After you spend millions dollars in 950 engineers and 3100 beta testers, you can destroy Adobe Acrobat X easily just downloading a website rich in flash content. Some animated banners in the downloaded pages from the web, it's enough to destroy it.
Just go to a website where you have animated banners, and press Shift+Crtl+O to download the pages...
Save your PDF document and then try to work with it.
If the document has a big size, let's say 1000 pages approximately, and many of them have flash content... Adobe Acrobat X crash automatically just moving from one page to another.
As simple as that.
Is the most unstable program I've seen in all my life. And please, don't tell me it's my machine, because I've tested it in other computers. The same!
But there is more! yes
Forms fields also destroy Acrobat X
In a big PDF file having several pages inside with forms, just go to Tools, Forms and Edit, then in the list of pages try to delete the forms fields selecting them and pressing the Del key... crasshhhh Acrobat X die.
What kind of betatesters you chose to test your products? For sure are people that are working with light documents of 5... 10 pages and no more.
For sure are not people working extensively with Adobe Acrobat, as I do.
And what happens when Acrobat X crash miserably time after time? that the Error 15 comes, because the file becomes corrupted.
This is not serious.
Is this the kind of performance and stability that Acrobat provide to the customers? having the risk to lose important documents and data, due how unstable is the program?
You can tell me you hired NASA personnel to do this program, but customers need results, and crashing the program just pressing one key is not serious.
And talking about complains I don't want to remember the last update of the Acrobat 9 !!!
And you know what? a simple tool as NitroPDF don't crash!
Sadly NitroPDF is not an option for me, because I embed videos in the PDF documents and NitroPDF don't allow me that.
I am using Adobe Acrobat X because sadly I don't find another alternative, the day I find it, I'll switch for sure.
Or perhaps we can get a miracle, and your programmers could focus in what is IMPORTANT: STABILITY AND PERFORMANCE.
