Problem reading SD card on T400/Win XP Pro SP3

I have an SD card, which reads just fine on an olde T61. When I insert it into T400, I can browse the contents of the folders with no previews. When I am trying to copy a picture from the card to the computer, I have error message:
"Cannot copy <name>: The path is too deep."
I have all the updates installed through Lenovo update tool, and all windows updates installed as well.
Is there a solution to this problem? Has anyone experienced something similar?
Thanks

I just got off the phone talking with Lenovo rep. He suggested the problem is caused by some incompatibility of SP3 with the SD card driver. The suggested fix is to follow the instructions here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/b435c934-112b-4142-8bc5-496482c2c8...
Did anybody try this? I am quite hesitant to mess manually with the Win drivers. Any more ideas?
It seems strange, because the problem on that forum was reported in January, and apparently it has not been addressed by MS/Lenovo since then, with some automatic update.

Reinstallint using setup seem to work, but ole is not working: e.g. from word , I do insert object, click ole , select adobe acrobat object, then app freezes.
2 processes are created dor adobe reader and I have to do "end-task".
Inserting another ole object (e.g. excel) works!
I tried uninstall from control panel.
I also downloaded and ran acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_061713 and acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p2_061713 (downloaded from your web site), then reboot and reinstall. No change!
    Any hint?

    Hi albourg,
Try disabling the protected mode in Reader and check the performance.
You can find the option at: Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) > Enable Protected Mode at startup

  • ITunes 10.1.2 upgrade on  Win XP Pro SP3 Kills Internet access

The latest iTunes 10.1.2 install on my Win XP Pro SP3 system kills my Internet access. Internet status shows that I'm connected but Internet Explorer and Firefox can't connect to the server. Running Win XP Pro SP3 with all MS updates applied on a Dual-Core Intel 6600 chip, 4 gig of memory and a couple of terabytes of hard drive. When I do a restore from my backup hard drive to the prior OS and iTunes version, everything is back to normal. I didn't receive any error notifications both times from the install. I first did the install from the Apple website directly (and lost Internet access), then restored my backup system and downloaded the update separately and then installed and lost Internet access again. Am now back up using iTunes 10.1.1.4. Is this update from Egypt? (supposed to be funny).
    Thanks-
    Richard

Thanks for the link. I noticed that "Swut" from Orange County, Ca (see the post below) had a reply in the link you gave me referring to "Vipre" , which is an Anti-Virus program that I also use, like "Swut".
I will investigate this further. In defense of Apple, there is no way that they can test against every bit of software that we run on these PCs. I would hope that if we find out that there is some problem with the Vipre interface, both Apple and the Vipre people will be made aware of the problem.
Before I try the iTunes 10.2.1 upgrade again, I'll contact Sunbelt Software- the people who make Vipre and see if they have heard of this problem. I'll let all of you know what the results are.
    Thanks- Richard Van Nostrand

I didn't have to go all the way through with TRG10987s solution. When I got to step 4 I noticed that VIPRE had installed multiple virtual network adapters on to of the network adapters. I uninstalled VIPRE thereby deleting the virtual adapters ran the upgrade, and reinstalled VIPRE. Everything works fine now.

  • Sync taking hours - iphone 3GS Win XP Pro SP3

    Hey,
Had a search but couldn't find anything of any use.
PC is newly formatted Win XP pro SP3
Phone is iphone 3GS 32gb 3.1.3 about 6 months old
Total memory on phone used is about 12gb
I have done this two times, one as a fresh update syncing the phone and one with a copied library from before the format.
This might just be a "PC" thing that I will have to live with but since going to 3.1.3 and the latest version of itunes syncing my iphone its taking well so far over an hour and a half to sync the phone!!
Originally when I bought the phone with 3.1.2 with itunes 9.? (December) it was syncing in about 10mins.
The previous version of itunes in mid\late march had huge memory leaks which explained why it wouldnt sync or update but this new version seems to sync but it takes forever!
The sync times do not affect my ipods, I have two classic ipods (80 & 160gb) which it takes no time to sync and works fine.
Any suggestions? Apart from buying a mac!!

The most common issue with long backup is users that keep way too many photos in the TEMPORARY camera roll.
Do you copy off photos from your camera roll on a routine basis and then sync back to their own libraries any photos you wish to keep on the phone.
The camera roll is a special place not meant to really keep on storing images for long term. It is treated differently than the rest of the file system.

  • HP Deskjet 712c Win 7 Home problem connecting to shared printer on Win XP Pro PC

    Hi,
I am having a problem connecting to a shared printer on my home wireless network. The printer is HP Deskjet 712C. When I had Win XP on all my PCs, I could successfully share the printer from one PC and print to it from any PC. Worked just fine.
However, now I have 2 PCs with Win 7 Home and 1 PC with Win XP Pro. The printer is physically connected to the Win XP box. I have confirmed, on that box, it is being shared. When I try to add the printer on a Win 7 box, I select network printer and get to the point where it needs the driver. It prompts for an INF file. I have no clue where to go from there. I have done the Windows Update thing for Win 7 to update the driver list in the OS. I did see on the Win XP box that there's a place where I can load various drivers to the network for different OSs. I'm guessing that's so the appropriate drivers for those OSs will be available when adding the shared printer in those OSs. Of course, Win Vista and Win 7 are not available there. Is there any way I can share the printer from my Win XP box to my Win 7 boxes?
Also, I've tried physically connecting the printer to one of my Win 7 boxes to share it from there, but I have probems there just getting Win 7 to see the printer correctly. I'm using a Parallel - USB converter cable. When I plug it in, Win 7 sees the printer as a IEEE-1394 device instead of a printer. Even when I install the HP Deskjet 712C drivers in the OS driver list, and select the USB001 port, it tells me the printer is not plugged in, but I know it is.
I would love to hear some ideas! Please help!
    Thanks

HI, I have the same issue and recently (1/15/11) posted the problem.
Did you ever figure out what was arong and get it working?

  • Satellite C660-1TN. Win XP Pro SP3. Driver of video card GF 315M

Laptop Satellite C660-1TN. Under the corporate standard it is necessary to work in Windows XP Pro SP3. The driver of video card NVIDIA GeForce 315M isn't established. Thanks

Your corporate standards are pretty old. It should be time for corporate update to new standards. ;)
Anyway, newest notebook models are not supported for old operating systems and newest notebook models are designed for newest operating system. Newest notebook models have newest hardware also designed for newest OS.
Problem is not Toshiba or WXP support. As far as I know even Microsoft doesnt support WXP anymore.
Check if NVIDIA supports WXP for GeForce 315M.

  • Sound problems on ProBook 6550b, running on Win 7 Pro x32bit..

I have been getting very similar sound problems on my notebook as posted by most: internal speakers work on original Audio HD drivers, but there is no sound when I connect external speakers or headphones. I up-graded the audio drivers to IDT HD Audio and I get sound coming from external speakers or headphones, but nothing from internal speakers.
I have tried everything from reporting the problem on public forums, live help, and done this or that, but nothing changes. It's so very clear to me that it has to do with audio drivers, which don't seem to work appropriately to cover all aspects of sound output.
I also, often, get this loud, weird, irritating noise and a frozen PC when I am playing music with the notebook, while on the internet. The best I do is not to do both at the same time. I have seen similar problems on blogs, but tangible solutions are NOT offered!!!! Please help...

Audio Switching coudl be due to several reason. if you have tried latest audio drivers and latest Video drivers from hp.com, i suggest you to get audio board replaced for your computer.
    Hope it helps.

  • Satellite A30, Win XP Pro SP3 - modem won't work

Another issue with this A30 Satellite notebook
The built in modem doesn't work.
    *Explanation:*
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as 'Toshiba software modem amr' and is setted on com3 port.
When I click on 'diagnostic' and 'ask modem' (the right labels may be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window appears saying it's impossible to open the door (port) which the modem is connected to.
I have tried to change the modem com port to different numbers but the problem is the same.
I don't know whether the modem is an actual board connected in some way to the main board or is just built on the main board. If it would be the first case, I could change it ad see. btw, the mini pci slot is already occupied by the gigabyte Wi-Fi board, so the modem must be somewhere else.
It is strange, since I did at least 2 other win xp pro installations on this machine, always downloading and installing the proper drivers, and the modem never has worked.
    Thanks
    S.

This old Satellite A30 was offered with Windows XP Home Edition/Professional SP1 so maybe you should install WXP SP1 and then all other stuff following original installation order.

  • HT4489 I can't import an Outlook vcard that is 7.3k in size.  It sends me an error message saying it had a problem reading the card.  Help.

Using the iCloud help screen I tried to import an Outlook contact in vcard format.  iCloud tells me it is having trouble reading the vcard (which is 7.3k in size).  Can someone help overcome this problem?  Thanks.

The message says: "The payment method has been denied, try another method"
I'm living in the same country and city since I was born, so I don't think the location is the problem.
And yes, I paid with the card a meal in Burguer King today. And nothing more.

  • Problem Reading MMC Card

    Kit
    ===
    Nokia 9300i
    Nokia 9300
    MMC+ Card - MobyMemory 1GB
The memory card has worked perfectly on both phones until recently. Both phones no longer recognise the card and all the Memory Card drop down menus are now inactive. However, when the card is plugged into a USB2 Card Reader in my computer, the card can be read perfectly. I reformatted the card on the computer (using FAT and not FAT32) but the phones still refuse to recognise the card is there.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    DB

I've had this problem when I've not inserted card correctly - but seems odd in your case if it doesn't work on either.
Have you tried restarting both phones (eg remove batteries?

  • Problem reading SIM card?

I am trying to activate my Iphone but can't get it to connect to Itunes.
All I get is an error message that the Iphone cannot be used with Itunes because the SIM card is not installed.
When I press on the "i" on the activation screen I get the message "ICCID: Unknown".
I have tried the ATT sim in another phone and it is recognized so I know that's not the problem.
My Iphone is on firmware version 1.0.2.
Any help with this would be much appreciated

First...I would start with updating iTunes to the most recent version. Second, if the iPhone is hacked or you purchased from "ANYONE" other then Apple or AT&T, then I would highly recommend you not activate the phone or upgrade to version 1.1.1 as you may end up with an expensive desk ornament. If all is lagit...then the update to iTunes should get you started. Also, make sure that your phone is connected directly to a USB port, not a hub, keyboard or monitor usb. Hope that helps.
    Good Luck

  • Boot camp 2.1 problems, win xp pro sp3

I have just bought a MBP, 17" and I am running Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 3.
With the included boot camp driver everything except the function keys worked. Although the (fn+backspace = delete) worked, no other function keys worked (can't raise or lower the volume, increase/decrease britghness etc).
With Boot Camp 2.1 this did not change BUT my audio suddenly stopped working. So I rolled back the drivers and the sound started working again.
Also my Nvidia-tray icon disappeared along with some other icon I can't even remember.
Boot Camp 2.1 was supposed to be an upgrade but only caused me problems and did not solve any problem I had.
Cliff note: Boot Camp 2.1 sucked, my function keys still does not work and the audio crashed, along with some icons in the tray that disappeared.
Anyone has the same problems? Any solutions?

Thats weird, I just turned on my computer and the boot camp system icon appeared and also windows volume control icon. And now the function buttons are working! I am currently using my old drivers for the audio card but they work fine so I don't pla n on trying the new ones again.
It seems like the boot camp .exe-file, KdbMgr.exe didn't load and when it suddenly load the keyboard started working better, now the background LED behind the keyboard is also working. Cool!

  • Installation problem for Oracle 9.2 on Win XP pro

This is what I have done so far:
    1. Launch Setup
    2. Specify the Product Key and Home Directory
    3. Select Database Option
    4. Select Personal Edition (I am a student)
    5. Click Install
The Installer starts and I see a progress bar on top. It goes till 36% quickly and when it reaches "Installing Pre-requisites" it just vanishes without any error message.
I changed the "symcjit.dll" to "symjcit.old" but to no avail. Anybody has a solution. Also is it possible to have oracle and sql server on the same machine.
I really appreciate it if someone can help

I have a similar problem. Someone please point out what is the specific solution ! Thanks in advance.
