Problem receiving sms - Nokia 5800

Hi everyone,
I bought an unlocked Nokia 5800 in Spain, I used it for a month with a sim card from "Happy Movil" vendor. It was working just fine.
But once I was back in Argentina I put my sim card from my regular vendor (Personal). So my problem begans here.
I can receive and make calls (Calls are fine), I can send SMS to anyone but I can't receive SMS from another vender that's not Personal (such as Movistar or Claro).
Please someone could help me solving this issue??
Thanks in advance.

Message center number: Double check that you have it correctly entered. I would suggest that you delete the one already there, and enter the number afresh, and restart your phone
Take out the SIM and make sure the contacts are clean, put it back in and then try again
You may also try restoring factory settings (*#7780# at the stand-by screen; enter the lock code, default is 12345)
Hey, being specific, is it that you cannot receive any sms from other network providers? Try sending an sms to your own number. If you receive it soon, then you should contact the customer support of your network provider for sorting out the problem.
Hope this helps...

  • Problems to sincronize Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic with...

My Nokia 5800 xpressmusic sistematically sincronizes extremely bad with Outlook in Windows 7. Either it duplicates contacts, or sincronizes some and some not, many contacts incomplete but with duplicated info within, or deletes from Outlook contacts that I need, or aborts the sincronisation randomly.
The last time I had erased all the contacts, notes and calendar from the mobile in order to sincronize from scratch with a laboriously just depurated Outlook and what happened? it deleted half of the contacts, the notes apparently sincronized well, and the calendar aborted the sincronization repeatedly. Does anyone have a clue o what is going wrong before I buy another mobile brand? The software in the mobile and OVI Suite are updated. Anyway, this has been happening with previous versions as well. Another problem is that the fields in Contacts do not match after sincronization with those in Outlook, and the information in each contact is partially duplicated and/or incomplete. I can send printed screen of the windows in which the errors have been informed.

I have exactly the same problem.
It is very often impossible to synchronize.
I am able to send SMS-messages (via bluetooth connection), but unable to synchronize.
When clicking on the "synchronize" button or when choosing "synchronize" from the pulldown menu, OVI Suite may or may not synchronize.
I am unable to keep my Calendar in sync.
If this does not get resolved soon, I will get another phone and it  will certainly not be a Nokia.

  • Problems with my Nokia 5800 XM... - Please Help!

    Hi,
I have gotten my Nokia 5800 Express Music phone almost 1.5 months ago.  The problems which I am facing presently are as under:
    1) The green key on my 5800 is not working in home screen.  When I press green key nothing happens.  It should open call log which is not opening.  (It is not working in any of the home screen themes)
    2) The bottom 2 icons and shortcut bar on my phone are not working.
The following are the steps which I have already taken:
    1) Changed the home screen theme from shortcut bar to basic, then contacts, then back to shortcut - nothing happened.
    2) Updated my nokia phone over the air using Nokia software updater.  Nothing happened.
    3) Restored my previously taken backup after updating the phone - The problem is still here.
    4) Done factory settings reset - Nothing happened.
    5) Used *#7370# code to reset - Nothing happened.
Please note that I don't know how to reformat this phone!
If any one can help me, please do!
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks alot!!!
It is working now.  Even, I have fully restored my old settings including memory card and everything from my last backup and the problem is solved.
I already did the battery removal and re-insertion trick but it was invain.  Hard reset did the trick for it.
Thanks again for the kind help!

  • Help required - a problem receiving SMS from some ...

Is anyone alble to help resolve a problem with text messages to and from a land line phone please.  Are there any long standing issues sending and receiving texts between certain mobile phone providers as I have been having problems for some time.  I can send and receive texts to and from the land line between old style mobile phones on 02 and another provider.  Some months ago a relative using Orange (I think) was able to receive messages from my land line perfectly OK and then suddenly received them with no message content.  They contacted their provider who could not find a problem.  During this weekend a contact using Virgin network has sent a text to the land line which I have not received at all.  They informed me by email and I sent them a test text from the land line which they have received OK.  They sent a reply back to the land line which again I have not received. They have contacted their provider who has checked all connections at Virgin and there doesn't appear to be a problem.   Could someone inform me what is the likely cause of the problem, ie mobile network not recognising land line numbers as capable of receiving SMS messages, the BT SMS system, or my text enabled phone.  I look forward to any suggestions.  With many thanks.

    Hi Redlollipop
Did you get any resolution to your problem?  Sorry to ask so late after your post, but my mother has had a similar fault since March this year - she can send text messages to all networks on her sms-enabled landline BUT cannot receive replies from the Virgin/T-Mobile/EE group!
Virgin say the messages are blocked by BT - however after exhaustive tests BT say that the problem must be with Virgin! Virgin reply that they can "do no more" because it is not their fault, BT say they can "do no more" because the problem with BT Text only occurs with that particular network...
I have found it impossible to get either side to talk to each other rather than through me, so I am now preparing to involve the Ombudsman service in the hope that they may be able to at least initiate discussions between the technical experts on both sides.
    Many thanks!!

  • TS2326 I haf updated my Iphon4 with ISO 6.1.3 but I got Problem receiving SMS messages not matching a contact's mobile number

Hi guys, I really need help on that problem,

Summary: Incoming calls show up only as phone numbers, not with the caller's name.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1) On your iPhone, save a person's phone number in Contacts with the country's dialing code in front (+ZZZ-XX-YYYYYYY, where +ZZZ is the country code, XX is the carrier, YYYYYYY is the person's phone number);
    2) Make a call from that person's device/number to your iPhone;
    3) On your iPhone, while ringing, shows the above number without +ZZZ and without the person's name.
Expected Results: No matter how the number is saved (as +ZZZ-XX-YYYYYYY or simply as XX-YYYYYYY) the caller ID should always show up, as in previous iOS editions.
Actual Results: Caller ID does not work as expected and as in previous iOS versions.
Notes: When I receive voice calls, the number comes in without the country dialing code in front, simply appears as XX-YYYYYYY (where the XX is the carrier code and YY is the number) and the caller's name does not appear. In my address book ALL my contact's telephone numbers are preceded with the corresponding country dialing code, because i travel a lot. If I delete the country code from a contact's phone number, and that number calls me, then the person's name appears. I'm am in Angola (country code +244) using iPhone 4, iOS 5, carrier: UNITEL (92)
On the other hand, SMS's are OK, i.e. the Caller ID is linked to the phone number and shows up (because SMS's are receiver with the country dialing code in front of the phone number, p.ex. +244-XX-YYYYYYY).
It has something to do with the Carrier Settings Update as in iTunes i get the error message 1630 which states that: "iTunes could not check for un update to the carrier for your iPhone. An unknown error occured (1630)."
    Thanks

If you have any app unsigned, uninstall it. If it doesn't work, maybe the problem isn't from apps, and the phone needs reset.
Factory settings reset. In standby, dial *#7780# and the phone's security code (the nokia's default security code is 12345). This reset restores phone's original settings.
Soft reset. In standby dial *#7370# and the phone's security code. Soft reset deletes ALL your phone's data.
Hard reset (the three key code/reset). Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green/talk key, the * key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the nokia hands logo/nokia boot up screen.
For 5800 XM hard reset need different keys/buttons. The green/talk key, the red key and the camera key/button. The process is the same.Warning! You will lose All your phone's data!

( if try to enter in ovi store it says that I have to update the application and if I try, I get an error).  Is this a virus or a software problem? What should I do?

yes it's safe and official too
Backup you device using Ovi Suite or Nokia PC Suite.
Dial *#7370# in to your device. Confirm that you wish to reset the device.
Enter the passcode (by default 12345).
The device will now be reset and the Maps application will have reverted to the original version. You can now reload your backed up data using Ovi Suite or Nokia Suite.
the last option is hard reset which is the combination of Green + Red + Camera + Power buttons while the phone is switched off till you see the Nokia Logo

  • 5800xm Problem receiving sms

Having a prob actually getting texts anywhere near the time they are sent - sometimes its even a couple of days late. The connections good wherever i am. The firmware is up to date and it was happening even before i upgraded. I spoke to Virgin Uk (the best bit of customer service ive had since i joined them years ago, usually useless to the end - the tech support guys are mint. Really helpful and actually called back to see if doing a hard reset worked. It didnt.)
So, not virgins fault. Dont think its a firmware fault, unless its a bug that was in the last one too. Leaves me with hardware? There have been several others according to Virgin so i know its not just mine thankfully and that the other folks didnt get it working properly by doing a hard reset either. The sim is not damaged, the phone itself is well looked after and despite the obvious lack of pre-market testing, the firmware by and large, holds up.

Multimedia messages (photo and group) require Verizon's cellular network to send/receive; they count against your text plan, but not your data plan.
You also may want to do a search on this forum about issues with the iPhone 5 and data usage; it's suggested that you turn off cellular data when not needed.
