PROBLEM RECORDING DVD

HELLO:
After installing SnowLeopard, this is the first time I am doing an Idvd project and recording it, I am not sure if my problem is related to the OS upgrade.
I do my project as usual and record it and the result is that I get a DVD with Video_Ts and Audio_TS files instead of the normal movies I used to get.
Once the files for the project are loaded I click on "RECORD BUTTON" the one is round divided in yellow and black pieces. I have also tried by selecting "record dvd "...in FILE, and there I have seen that there is an option to save the projecto as video_TS but I have never clicked ont that. If I press on Play on Idvd , I can see the movie the way I want it , the problem is that it does get recordee in the same way.
Any help with this?
Thanks

Sorry , forget all about it, it was the dvd player in my Imac, I never usu it and I thought play was automatic .
Thanks anyway to all

  • Problems recording DVD+r

    I have an Intel Imac 17" with this optical drive: MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846
    i can't record any type of DVD+R (tried 3 different brands, philips, princo and verbatim) because i keep getting an error code (0x8002006D) at the beginning of the recording ... oddly i CAN record DVD+RW and CD (but cd only 8x because at 24x i keep getting errors) ... the firmware version is FB2U
    do you think the superdrive is defected? or is this a common problem?
    regards,
    Giuliano Galea

    Many of the optical drives that are furnished by Apple are not to there full potential until you first do 2 things.
    Go to your Apple and then click on Software Update, and Download the Firmare Updates and Software, and Security Updates.
    Next check out the Manufactures Site and make sure you have the latest Firmware Updates offered by the Manufacture, (CHECK OFTEN).
    Sometimes it is also necessary to look for Firmware Hacks that will also allow your drive to work to there full potential.
    Lastly do not forget to always use the System Maintence.

  • DVR620KU Recording Problem VHS-DVD

    Having a problem copying from a VHS tape to DVD. Followed the instructions in the Owners manual and and checked the input settings but when the recording process is completed there is nothing on the DVD. Any suggestions ??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I'm not sure what you mean when you say there is nothing on the DVD. Do you mean, something is recorded, but it's all black? Or do you mean that no recording appeared to take place at all?
    Here are some steps to follow to confirm proper behavior:
    1. Have a VHS tape to play back and a recordable DVD (such as DVD-R).
    2. Press INPUT SELECT on the remote multiple times until you see L2 appear on the TV screen. Be sure you have nothing connected to L2 (which are the connectors in the front of the unit). You should see a blue screen.
    3. Press VCR on the remote.
    4. Insert the VHS tape. You should see the counter set to 0:00:00.
    5. Press DVD on the remote.
    6. Insert the DVD into the DVD tray and wait until it is fully loaded and the progress bar goes away on the TV screen.
    7. Press DUBBING on the remote. You should see the VHS tape start to play back, and the DVD start recording. Let it record onto DVD for around 3 minutes. Then press STOP. Let it finish processing until the progress bar goes away. Then press TOP MENU and navigate to the last thumbnail, then press ENTER. You should start seeing the dubbed video play back.
    Report back with your findings.

  • Problems with a thread that records dvd on suse linux

    PLEASE HELP
    I am using SuSE linux, and I record dvd+/- RW with the program growisofs.
    By command line on the linux shell, growisofs records normally, but when I try to use the same line cone that I use in the shell in a java thread, it never stops recording, I mean, it records all data, but it apparently does not close the dvd session, for the grenn light on the drive never stops blinking, and I have to stop the proccess manually, because it never releases the dvd drive.
    I use the thread in a large program, but for debugging this I have made a simple program, whose error is the same.
    the code is:
            String s = "/usr/local/bin/growisofs -speed=1 -M /dev/dvdram  -V MIS27 -A growisofs -P MedImServer " +
               " -p MedImServer -sysid Linux -J -R -l -relaxed-filenames -allow-lowercase -allow-multidot  /windows/C/online";
           Process p;
                try {
                    p = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(s);
                    p.waitFor();
                catch (IOException ex) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"erro no runtime");
                    System.exit(0);
                catch (InterruptedException ex1) {
                    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"erro no waitfor");
                    System.exit(0);
                }with JBuilder 9 debug, I realized that it freezes at the moment of "p.waitFor()".
    I thought that it was a problem with the recording software, but it is not: the same command line that I use in the program I have used in the Linux shell and it recorded perfectly. The program does not require any user interaction but the command line I wrote before. The problem with the Java program is that it records all data, but never returns from the process. It's not a problem with the software, for it records perfectly when it's not called within the Java program, so I imagine that it is some funny thing in either the Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...) or the p.wait().
    Better yet:
    Is there a way to record dvds with a java command instead with an exteranal program?
    This would be the heaven...
    IF it is possible, do it require some sun package?
    Thans

    I tried to execute it, and it indeed doesn't freeze, but it doesn't record a thing either...
    now it doesn't even wait for the thread, which is VERY weird: it does not record a thing!!! It just passes by the line 'p.waitFor()'...
    Any sugestion?
    By the way, thanks for helping me...

    This is a very common problem.  Some are beacuse of the quality of media, some are because of the speed the media is burnt, some are because the drive gets dirty just where DVDs are concerned, and some are because of computer age.  The last problem is common if the machine gets more than 4 years old, the PRAM battery needs replacing, and all sorts of settings start malfunctioning, until lastly the system clock no longer works and it might not boot.  The others, see my FAQ*:

  • DVR620 incorrect aspect ratio when recording DVD or VHS

    I have a DVR620KU connected to a Sony Digital LCD Bravia TV, Sony HT-CT100 Home Theater system and a Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300HDC cable box.  I am using HDMI cables except for the connection from the "out" on cable box to the "in" on the DVR620.   When recording from a broadcast program or DVR'd(cable box) program, the picture on the TV while recording, and the DVD or VHS recording when played back, have letterbox like bars top and bottom and the aspect ratio for the picture is stretched.  I have tried eliminating the Home Theater system, but that doesn't help.  Other than that, things work as they are supposed to, including viewing a commercially recorded DVD.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    It does mean that the DVR620 is not the problem.
    I don't have the same cable box as yours. Mine is an Explorer 4250HDC. Even if they were same, however, I believe different cable systems will handle things differently.
    I'm on Time-Warner Cable in central NC. I have that big universal remote model URSU-8800L-TWR.
    When I press SETTINGS, I get the Settings menu. On the bottom of the screen is Quick Settings. If I press right arrow several times, I get to High Definition. The choices are AutoHD, Picture Size, Aspect Ratio, and Output Resolution. The choices for AutoHD are on/off. I'm using on.  Picture Size are Zoom, Normal, and Stretch. I am using Normal. Aspect Ratio choices are 4x3 and 16x9. I am using 4x3. Output resolution should probably be 480i for recording to the DVR620. Note that on the NBC channel currently there is letterboxing on the top and bottom. There is no distortion or stretching. I don't see a way to avoid the letterboxing.
    Part of the problem with making these changes is that they will affect all output from the cable box, so your HD signal to your TV might not be as good.

  • Wont burn. Error..."No disc is in the drive. Insert a recordable DVD disc."

    Get error message "No disc is in the drive. Insert a recordable DVD disc."
    After multiple attempts with "Staples Brand" DVD-R (up to 16x Speed) and DVD-RW (up to 4x Speed) Recordable & Rewritable Disc. I tried every disc in the package (12). None of them will burn? The DVD player still functions. So I don't think it's a hardware problem. Any body got any ideas?

    I have burned to "Staples" media in the past (about a year ago).
    Staples, and many other 'big box' stores, buy their own brand media from low bidders and so it can come from many sources.
    If it was dust, wouldn't that also effect the read ability?
    Not necessarily.
    I was leaning towards the "Cheap Media" as the main problem
    So am I.

  • Problem burning DVDs, NEED HELP QUICK

    Hey,
    I need help as soon as possible. I am using iMovieHD 5.0.2, along with iDVD 5.0.1. I have made a movie about 8 minutes long and all in all it totals 7.68Gigs, and i've tried burning it to a dvd. I did all the steps it says to, going to Share, sharing it with iDVD, then trying to burn it in iDVD. Yet whenever it asks me to insert a recordable dvd, i do, and the computer fails to recognize it. I am using a DVD-R, 4.7GB discs, 4x. I then realized that the movie i was trying to burn was larger than this disc, which might be the problem. I then created a 200mb movie and tried, but the same problem happened. My G5 is not recognizing the blank dvds, yet when i insert a dvd that was made a while ago from a different source, yet the same type of dvd, it plays fine.
    The problem seems to be in recognizing the blank DVD, and im pretty sure that its compatible with this computer, being that it plays when theres already a movie on it.
    Can someone please help me quickly, this is for a production company and we're losing out every day that i dont get this done. Thanks a million.

    I don't have an answer, but as an initial diagnostic step, try loading a blank DVD while iDVD is not running. First open your System Preferences and select the CD/DVD icon. Make sure the options selected do not say "Ignore". Then load a blank disc. Depending on your preferences, you should get some sort of reaction - either a burn window opens or you get a prompt asking you what to do. If there's no reaction from the Finder, it would indicate that the drive is not recognizing the blank DVD. This would be either a hardware or a media compatibility problem. Only way to tell for sure is to run out and try a different brand of media.

  • IDVD Error: "Insert a recordable DVD disc"

    I created a project in iDVD ready to be burned but each time I insert a disc, before any burning begins, it is ejected with this error message: "Insert a recordable DVD disc". I have tried several different DVDs but nothing works. I came across this problem in a lot of forums but with no successful answer. Does anyone know what to do in this situation???

    iMovie doesn't do any authoring of the disks, so of course it has 'no issue.' iDVD is the authoring program that actually accesses the DVD disk with a direct burn. Disk Utility recognizes almost any disk, but it also is not an authoring program. When using DU for burning, you are burning from the disk image created by iDVD.
    For the best burn success, follow all the others' advice. I use only Verbatim DVD-R disks, burn at 4x or less and have never had a burn issue. My disks play on all DVD players that I have tried. The only issue has been a particular brand of DVD player that misreads some audio tracks, but the other players read all of it just perfectly.

  • "Insert a recordable DVD disc"

    No matter what I do, iDVD keeps saying "Insert a recordable DVD disc."
    I've got DVD-R and DVD+R discs, but it won't take either.
    This is a brand-new iMac.

    call support. If its new you must see if it is a problem with the drive itself.

  • Problem recording audio in iMovie

    I am currently having problems recording a voice over in iMovie. I have checked the The system settings and it is recognizing my usb microphone as the source for input. I can also record audio within another project, just not in the one I want to. This makes me think something has been changed within the project settings. Any suggestions?

    If the QT movies"that iMovie generates" are fine, then your DVDs that iMovie makes may be fine since iDVD uses QT movies. I would try one, SHare to MEdia Browser at the highest resolution (this can take hours) then open iDVD and migrate to that movie, drag it into iDVD window and burn and see.

  • Problem recording audio from sampler...

    Problem recording audio from sampler (MPC 1000) to Logic using midi trigger thru Lexicon Omega box.
    When I hit the record button in Logic, it triggers my mpc to start playing. Logic then picks up the incoming audio signal on the appropriate track and starts recording the audio... PROBLEM- Logic appears to keep restarting the incoming audio, repeating the first 1/4 of the first 1Bar. So every time I hear the metronome tempo counter as it records, the incoming audio replays from the beginning and this is what gets recorded. On the contrary when I'm controlling the sampler via midi and just hit the play button in Logic, the audio signal comes threw and plays the full 4 bars of the audio that I want recorded.
    Any idea on how I can fix this? It seems like it has to do with my metronome counter or midi time code?
    Thanks to all that help!

    Thanks, good suggestion but these are music instruction dvds that aren't copyrighted.
    cheers

  • Variation on a theme: recordable DVD media wont load (blank or with data)

    I've read through the forums about problems people are having with the CD/DVD drives, but this one seems unique.
    My MacBook will read:
    commercial DVDs and CDs
    Blank recordable CDs
    Recorded data CDs
    But wont read:
    Blank or recorded DVDs.
    I've tried a number of different brands, and none of them will be recognized. (The same DVDs I've tried in a friend's identical MacBook and his reads them fine).
    I've reset the PRAM and bought a cleaning disc, none of which hand an effect.
    I'm assuming the drive is bad. Just thought I'd check here once before taking my much-beloved MacBook in for service.

    It's beyond obviously bad, my friend It ***** to hear it, but it's true. Don't waste any more time and money, just get it to Apple so that they can replace it. The more they see people coming back with bad drives, the more likely they'll get their act together and fess up and start taking a more consumer-friendly approach (accepting, not denying, helping, not ignoring), which WILL make them RICHER in the end. Guaranteed. A customer who is shown appreciation, stays a customer, even in tough times. So simple a concept.

  • DVD Speeds - can I play slower recorded DVDs - Satellite P20-801

    I've got a Satellite P20-801. I'm thinking about buying a DVD Recorder so I can transfer VHS material onto DVD. If I recorded it at a slower speed, would I be able to play it on my laptop? How can I find out if the DVD player on the P20 can play different speeds - assuming it's possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi
    As far as I know the recording speed is not relevant for playing. You can record DVD on minimum or maximum speed and the DVD can be played on your P20. My previous notebook was P20 and I have never had any problem about that.
