Problem recording to FMS when client has poor internet connection
Hi,
I am trying to implement a simple system that allows users of our website to leave an audio message. The audio recording tutorial shows a simple example of using the NetStream class to "publish" the audio stream to the FMS. During testing, many of the recordings were cut cropped (missing bits from the beggining or end), ended prematurely or had skips. This happens almost always when the user's internet connection isn't particularly good or is a little unreliable.
Is there anyway to resolve this, short of demanding our users guarantee us they have a perfect internet connection (which is unrealisitc). Is there a way for the stream to be cached locally and published to the FMS to increase tolerance to connectivity issues?

Just one month before i bought iphone 5... but the iphone has the internet connectivity problem... while a iphone 4s is cathcing 3G tower, whereas iphone 5 is catching 2G network only.... I've tried so many things to get recovered, but alas, nothing is workable- such as- restaring the iphone, reseting the networks etc... Please help me out from this problem..
to be clear, my phone works fine when not in motion in a vehicle. If I pull over and come to a complete stop, remaining in the car, my phone works.
And while the phone is not working when I'm in motion, an internet search or a text message will go through, but I can not use Siri or any voice assistance when doing the text message or internet search. The microphone is greyed out.
So this is a unique issue, which appears to be the iPhone and not Verizon. -

My itunes wont download the newest ipod software and when i try it will download for maybe an hour then say "error has occured, internet connection timed out" now what do i do?

Every time I try to play Amazon video on iPad, it shows "our Internet connection is currently using an HTTP proxy, content playbacks not supported when a proxy is configured". Though I can play it on iPhone which has same Internet connection.

My ipad says it has an internet connection but when i try to access safari it says it is unable to as there is no internet connection, help!
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Restart your IPad. Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

Poor internet connectivity through WRT160N
I bought and installed a WRT160N v.3 router about 3 months ago and all was fine. Recently, however, very poor internet connectivity has been experienced from my other 2 computers connected via wireless. Last night I upgraded the firmware (actuallly Linksys tech) and it appeared at first to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it didn't. The same problem continues on both computers. I have since done a hard reset and started from default parameters, but that didn't help either.
This appears to be a common problem, but I haven't seen a complete fix.
I have a Comcast cable internet connection and a speed test done on the hardwired computer gives the expected download/upload speeds (~20MBps and 8 MBps). Through the wireless connection to the WRT160N is another story. Speeds are less than 0.5MB!
Any suggestions???Well, I think I solved my problem. I had the router set-up with WEP encryption and was getting very poor internet connections on my wireless PCs. After trying a miriad of fixes found on this site and others, I decided to go to a unprotected network set-up. I was amazed to see my wireless connectivty jump to the expected speeds for my Comcast cable connection.
Has anyone heard of WEP causing a slowdown in connectivity?
Guess I will try the other security set-ups to see if I can get fast connectivity and a secure network. -
ITunes has no internet connection
My iTunes has no internet connection whatsoever. It is the only program I have with this problem and I have tried a ton of stuff so it is getting frustrating . I am on Windows 7 with iTunes 10.6. My symptoms are iTunes cannot do anything, no store, no iPhone update server, signing in/out doesn't appear to do anything, authorizing/deauthorizing computer doesn't appear to be working, check for updates doesn't work, GIANT MESS.
So i have tried:
- Proxy settings are the way they should be
- iTunes diagnostics tells me sucre link to iTunes store failed but the help button does nothing because iTunes has no internet to look up the solution LOL
- Reinstalling
- Reauthorizing (not sure if anything happened at all)
- Turning off firewalls/antivirus
- Lightly tossing computer over a cliff (satisfying but not helpful)

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Avoided poor internet connection
Just bought an Android phone and it doesn't connect to my WOW network wifi. Very shortly after saying it is connected, it comes back with the message: "Avoided poor internet connection." I do not have this problem with any of my other wifi connected devices: iPhones, iPad, Dell laptops, TVs, ...
Do you have smart wifi enabled? It will use OTA data if it detects a weak wifi signal versus cellular service. Turning it off forces the use of wifi, no matter the signal strength.

Unless you have an Internet connection you cannot access iCloud. You can download your music from iCloud to store permanently on your iPhone, but only when you have an Internet connection to do so.

I was downloading some songs when I lost my internet connection. There is no sign that these songs reached my iTunes but i have been charged for these songs anyway. What should I do?
It's possible that the message you got was to update the AirPort Express Base Station's (AX) firmware...and that something might have gone wrong during the upgrade.
Let's start by performing a "factory default" reset on the AX to get it back to it's original "out-of-the-box" condition.
Then, let's set it up to work with your cable modem...
AirPort Express Base Station Setup (AX) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
Modem/Router Power ReCycling (optional)
- Power-off the Cable modem, AX, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
- Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
- Power-on the AX; Wait at least 5 minutes.
- Power-on the computer(s)
Setup the AX
With the network components powered down, set up the AX, using the AirPort Admin Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
AirPort tab
- Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
- AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
- Create a closed network (unchecked)
- Wireless Security: Not enabled
- Channel: Automatic
- Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
Internet tab
- Connect Using: Ethernet
- Configure: Using DHCP
- WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
Network tab
- Distribute IP addresses (checked)
- Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
Do not, at this point, set up any security (i.e., WEP/WPA encryption, closed network, etc.) to first make sure the AX is operating properly. Try to access the Internet wirelessly with your MacBook. If you're successful, go ahead and add any security features you wish. -
