Problem registering my MacBook Air
Last November I received a MacBook Air as a gift. I just tried to register it in order to share iCloud items with my other devices. The system asked for a date of purchase which I do not have as this was a gift. What can I do? Help anyone?

Your Mac was automatically registered when it was purchased, gift or not.
For service and support > Check Your Service and Support Coverage page.
You will need the serial number which is on the back of the case on your MB Air in very small print.
If you can't make that print out, there are other ways to find the serial number > How to find the serial number of your Apple hardware product - Apple Support

Your Air comes with iMovie and GarageBand, but not with Pages, Numbers and Keynote. You have to download them from the Mac App Store.
Open the Mac App Store where they can be downloaded and installed free of charge.

Trouble registering my MacBook Air 13
Hey all !
I recently purchased MacBook Air 13 (Mid 2012) from my classmate. I kinda very new to this mac. Now when I'm trying to register my mac, it is asked me for the serial number and later asking me for the date of purchase. as I dont have date of purchase or bill with me, I have asked the person who saled me this. Even he says he dont have any of the either details which are required to register this mac.
So what I'm supporsed to do now ? There is no other way to register my product with mac ?

I face a problem with my macbook air or i think it's from the lion OS cause i didn't happen with snow leopard OS the massage says ( you can't open the application ....... because powerPC applications are no longer supported). any advice ??
Mac OS X Lion has dropped support for Rosetta, the feature that allowed you to run PowerPC apps on previous OS X systems. Check if you can find a newer version of the app you are trying to run that supports Intel processors.
What application are you trying to run? Maybe I can help you find a version that runs on Lion. -

I tried to register my macbook air 2013 and it said the serial number was already registered. I purchased it in my city at an authorized reseller beucase there isn't any Apple Store and they told me that they haven't registered it.
How can I solved this trouble? I want to registrer it.
Thank you very much.It could be that it was automatically registered when Apple sold it to the reseller (which is what they usually do). It is best to contact Apple and provide your proof of purchase so the machine can be registered in your name.

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

That is incorrect. You can install Windows on a Mac, any Mac, without having OS X installed on it.
To the OP you will need the original system reinstall USB thumb drive that came with your Mac Air if it is older than a Mid 2011 model or if it is newer than a Mid 2011 model you use the Online Internet recovery system.
If you don't have that original reinstall USB thumb drive you can order one from Apple for a small charge. Call Apple and ask to speak to someone Specifically to order a Replacement USB system reinstall thumb drive for your model year. You will need the serial number of that Air. It is etched into the bottom of the case.

When you go to perform a software update or make a system change it'll prompt you for an administrator's password. If you're the only user on the machine, you're also the administrator.
If you've forgotten this password it can be reset using Disc 1 of the System Restore DVDs that came with your computer. Because the MBA lacks an optical drive there are two ways to perform the password reset:
1. Purchase/use the external, USB-based MacBook Air SuperDrive
2. Use CD/DVD sharing between another, compatible computer on your network

I am having problems connecting my macbook air to an external display
I recently purchased a 2012 MacBook Air, and am currently running Mountain Lion.
When I try to connect an external VGA overhead projector, for use in a conference room, using the Thunderbolt to VGA adapter, my screen resolution changes, but nothing is projected from the overhead projector. I used to do this with my 2011 MacBook AIr and had no problems doing this.
What am I doing wrong? Is it Mountain Lion or a bug in the MacBook Air. I tried connecting to an overhead projector at my office and had no problems, but in my clients conference room I have no luck.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Unfortunately, I'm not finding success with this workaround. I'm running Mountain Lion on a MacBook Air, with the micro-DVI to VGA adapter, and the projector is not detecting the computer (regardless of repeatedly turning the two machines on and off, in various orders). I have been able to do this, prior to upgrading to Mountain Lion, with the same hardware configuration, so it seems that the problem is the software, not the hardware.
I do not see a Display icon in the menu bar, which is how I used to be able to switch. The Display setting in System Preferences does not offer a solution (though I have selected the "Show mirroring options in menu bar when available" option. I can't find a configuration of keys that will allow me to switch displays.
By the way, when I have both devices on, connect the VGA cable to the adapter, and then connect the adapter to the micro-DVI port, it shuts off my laptop. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen.
If anyone has figured out a reliable way to use a MacBook Air, running Mountain Lion, using a micro-DVI to VGA adapter, for an overhead project, please advise. -
from what i have heard this is a common problem. at first my sound occassionally didnt work but now the sound icon in my tool bar at top of screen has gone and there are no settings to get it back. my sound has completely stopped working
please help
i need to know what the problem is and if it is able to be fixed, and also how much the repair would cost or if apple would do it even if laptop is out of warranty ??
