Problem related to Material Master?

Hi All,
I want that when ever any person creates a new material and on going on Views it shows the particular views which were fixed by us. Please Tell me how can I achive this.

You can achieve this by way of authorization control. In T.code: PFCG, select your role for creating / changing the material master, Select option Maintenance statuses. Then at change status option select views that you want to give the authorization to the users. Create profile & save the role. Now assign the role to the users. They will get only those views you have selected for them. You have to select those views in all the roles related to material master (create, change, display).

It seems that the logical system name has been renamed or changed. You need to update the config tables. Fix it using Trx BDLS.

I have encountered a peculiar problem in MM01 material master upload.

I have encountered a peculiar problem in MM01 material master upload. The
BDC program uploads data using Session method. The problem is when i
process the session in foreground mode the data uploads successfully, but
when i process it in background mode it gives the following errors in the
log.
'Control Framework: Fatal error - GUI cannot be reached'.
'Runtime error RAISE_EXCEPTION has occurred'.
When i debugged the program i found that this error is encountered when
data is being input in 'Purchase Order text' editor of MM01 transaction.
There is no problem with the BDC recording or the program as i could see.
The only problem what i believe is the system is unable to call the text
editor for inputting purchase order text data in background mode.

Problem in updating material master using FM 'MD_MRP_LEVEL_CHANGE_DATA'

hi experts,
i m using this FM 'MD_MRP_LEVEL_CHANGE_DATA' to update the material master for MRP Area related data. i m passing the fields in the FM according to the requirement. when i execute the program it gives a msg
000I : 000, i m not able to track this msg that what can be the error..........
and also the changes are not reflected in MM03 transaction.
and if i m trying to pass the same data directly from SE37 and executing the FM , its running perfectly and changes are reflected in MM03.
please help me out to get out of this problem.

Unsolved Problem-Order without Material Master

Hi all
My problem is still unsolved. I want to create Sales Order with out Material Master. In Materials Management, we create Purchase orders to vendors with out a Material Master by just typing description of a material and then assigning Material Group and Cost Centre to that description.
If it is possible to issue Purchase Orders with out material master, then it is not possible to create sales Order also without material master?
I got an answer here yesterday to type description in Material description field in SO and use item category TATX. The problem with this is, it allows delivery, but does not allow pricing (pricing setting immediately goes to display mode in item category screen). If I do any other alterations with this item category, then it asks for material number while creating sales order.

I think the for text material pricing is not applicable.Thats why it's not taking.Text material is only for displaying text only.

Problem in extending material master data using BAPI?

Hi all,
I have created a program to upload material master using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA WITH VIEWS
Basic view, purchase view, account view , storage view and MRP view. I am successful while uploading this data while not taking the valuation type field to account view(passing only valuation area,valuation class and moving price).
But when i am trying to pass valuation type field also then it is giving error as 'First create the valuation-type-independent data' .
So i have written another program to extend this material to enter valuation type , then it is giving the error as 'Valuation category does not allow split valuation'.
Please help me to solve this problem and while modifying what are the mandatory values to pass to BAPI?

I have your same error but I don't know how to solve it. We have active "material split valuation" and valuation type is mandatory field if using ACCOUNTING and COSTING views.

Problem in upload Material MAster

Iam facing one problem in Material Master. We have uploaded all the views except work scheduling and Quality management View.Now I am trying to upload using BDC Program, but its not picking the both views.
IS there any Program or BAPI is available.

Problem when creating material master data

Hi,
I use MM01 to create a material master data and save it, the system appears the material created successfully. But when I use MM03 to display the material, the system appears no this material exists in the system. I use ST22 find some runtime error: "Insert into MARA values MARA" .
How can I solve this problem?

Hi,
Have you executed the MARA table by material name.
Then try with MARA-ERNAM field. Enter ur user id and then execute. lets see whether it is really created or not in ur system.
If u dont find any material created by ur name then go to SO01 transaction and check ur inbox....U will find some mails like update terminated.
U can talk to ABAPer to get this resolved.

Problem while creating Material Master (MM01)

Gurus,
I am novice to sap sd, and I am trying to create a Material (MM01) for a Customer, and have given the inputs 'Material', 'Industry sector' etc.
To my surprise, I am unable to see ' 'Sales org 1' , 'Sales org 2' ' Sales : General plant' tabs .
Should I need to enable something to view these tabs ?
All I could view is 'Organizational levels' ' check screen data' ' Additional data'

Hi,
Try to create a Material in this way. Check whether you are using same steps.
Go to MM01
Enter Industry sector & Material type (Eg: FERT - Finished Products)
Click on "Select view(s)" button option without pressing Enter key directly.
Then you should be able to see all tabs listed in "Select view(s)" pop up window.
Check whether "View selection only on request" tick box is marked. If it's marked, Un-tick it. If you have marked that, then this screen will not automatically appear.
Highlight relevant tabs.
Press "Organizational-levels" button in that pop up.
Enter relevant Sales Org/ DC & Division.
If "IOrg. Ievels/profiles only on request" is marked, then Un-tick that also. Its for same purpose as above.
Press Enter.
Now check whether you get those tabs in the Material Master.

Problem in uploading material master data using BDC?

I am using BDC call transaction method to upload material data. Here i am facing a problem that a value in the flat file is going to the wrong screen field . But my recording done properly.
In recording, after entering the data in the view BASIC DATA1 and trying to enter the text . For this i need to scroll down the scroll bar and after that i am clicking on basic data text and entering the text. Here i am not touching the languge field.
But the problem is the text to be entered into the basic data text is storing in language and giving error.
Please help me by specifying the reason and solution for this problem? Whether i did any mistake in recording in scrolling?

Go with BAPI for such huge transactions and screens. Use BAPI: BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.

Problem in changing material master through BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA

I am trying to update the custom field in accounting view, I am using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA for this purpose. But apparantly, it is not working as desired. In last i am getting these value in returnmessages tab.

I am using BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA to upload materail master data. Here i have to pass moving average price values in two currenices(using account_view and valuationdata in BAPI). But i found only one field for moving average price i.e moving_pr in valuationdata.
Please help me on how to upload the moving average price in two currencies?

There is function module BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEREPLICA where
VALUATIONDATA parameter is in the tables tab.
But I didn't test it. Try, may be it works as you need.

Transport problem -Field selection -Material master config

I had done my Field selection config in Golden client and tried copying to the other client in the same box but the config remains uncopied ,has anyone come across this problem,if please let me know how to overcome.

It is very dangerous.
Once the request no is created and it is released. you cannot do changes in the configuration .If you do changes then another request no will be created.
Please ask your BASIS person.
The procedure is normal procedure followed
1.created transport request say no AAA123 in Development
2. released in SE10
3Transported to Quality.
4.do the check & testing. giving o.k to move to production
5.Basis people will move the same request no from Quality to Production

Material master creation problem in sales org views

I have faced problem while creating material master
In mm01 >then select the org views basic data1&2 , sales org data1&2, purchaing, accounting and costing views >thanclick org levels> here enter the plant , stor loc, sales org & dist.chanel >then enter fill the all fields and save this is original procedure
but problem occured at ... in org levels without dist.chan ( only enter plant ,sales org stor loc ) also system goes to sales org data-2
in our development system .. in select sales org 1& 2 ... system should ask sales ogr &dist,chanel at org ..level scren ..if we does't ente dist.ch .. system does't allow the material master...actually like this in production system also worked earler....but now our production system not worked like this procedure ...
pls ..guide me to solve this issue any one

4 distbution channels are also assigned to sales org and plant
but problem is ..when create material amster ...if select the select views sales orgdata 1,2 and sales gnerael plant data
than press enter ... here system ask the palnt (mandatory), sales org(mandatory) and dist channel9optional).in production sysstem....

sale org     zosd
DC             .........(BLANK)
IF press enter system allow to ... sales org data 2
if DC ....(BLANK) System does 't allow to next screen sales org data 2
how can i change this optional to mandatory in DC

Material master data and Asset

Hello Guys
Considering the every material master data that I am buying will end up been an Asset in my company.
I would like to know how can I alredy related the material master data that I am creating with a possible hierarchy to make it esier at the time of creating the asset?
Some one could briefly explain to me how can I related the material master data and a creation of an asset in SAP?

That was really good answer you gave it is according with the Help instruction that I read, but the main point for me is that I will not know the asset description or capitalized date or serial number, location, etcu2026 until I goods receipt the individual material creating serial nods and the equipment master data.
In this scenario from the equipment master data is there any way to create an Asset master data, create the asset master data with the information of the GR equipment master Data or populate the Asset AS01 with the equipment master data?
Otherwise I will need manually create the Asset and manually synchronize the equipment with the asset?
