Problem removing bluetooth stack / hidden devices / COM ports not released

Hi
Having problem completely removing Toshiba Bluetooth stack / hidden devices / com ports not released
I uninstalled Toshiba BT s/w...
But:
1) Toshiba BT hidden devices still appear and I can not remove (get error)
2) COM ports occupied by Toshiba BT not released (so they cannot be used by another BT stack) and still appear in registry
ex: friendly name Toshiba BT Port (COM4) still in registry
3) These unreleased com ports do NOT appear in device manager
Thanks

It seems that you still have some configurations which were not removed during the uninstallation.
This means that the resources can not be release, because those are still necessary in case of a
new installation of the stack.
The first I would try is the following:
- Install the latest Toshiba Bluetooth stack.
- Uninstall it. Ensure that you answer all questions with "yes" ! This means also the one which asks if all configurations should be removed.
- Reboot
- Check again

  • Great problem with bluetooth and MIDP devices

    Hello all,
I'm making a client/server application with bluetooth JSR82 Serial Port Profile (SPP). The clients are mobile phones (J2ME application) that want to get informations from a server (J2SE application) that publishes a service.
My system works well with Sun Wireless Toolkit: it works fine also if I try to start a lot of servers and a lot of clients and a lot of other bluetooth device.
When I install it on actual environment like a personal computer with BlueCove stack and mobile phone like Nokia 6600 it works ONLY if there are 1 client and 1 server.
The problem is that the mobile phone doesn't find the server if there are other Bluetooth devices enabled!!!
I've made a lot of changes in my code but it don't work!
At first my client application works in this way:
    1) start finding Bluetooth devices
    2) a device found -> start finding services on this device
    3) a server service is found -> stop device inquiry and connect to the server
    4) else client continues to search devices and iterates like above
This solution works WELL on Sun toolkit but not on Nokia 6600 and Bluecove. So i changed it in this way:
    1) start finding all bluetooth devices
    2) after device inquiry stops:
3a) start finding all services on first device found... waiting for end
3b) start finding all services on seconddevice found... waiting for end
    3x) ....
    4) connect to the first service found
Also this solution doesn't work with Nokia 6600 and BlueCove!!!!!!!
    I'm getting crazy!!!
    Thanks,
    Renato
    ps Sorry for my English...

Hi guys, Im new here and its the first time i get to develop something using J2ME and J2SE toogether via bluetooth! You seem to be more expert than me so i was wandering if you could help me with some literature or even with some code.
I even tryed BlueCove but Im having some trouble! Please help me!!!

  • Problems with Bluetooth stack after bootcamp driver installation.

I have been running Windows Server 2008 in bootcamp without drivers from the Mac OSX installation cd for a few months with everything except soundcard and function keys working - but since I have found that I need sound and the function keys, I decided to install the Bootcamp drivers and all other drivers that my system would recognize and use.
At this point I should say that ever since I installed Windows Sever 2008, I've been using a mighty mouse wireless on both osx and server 2008, and both have been working perfectly both running natively (in bootcamp or osx) or in virtualization (with vmware fusion on osx).
After completing said install, I rebooted and found to my horror that my mighty mouse wireless had stopped working. I went into the control panel of server 2008 and found the bluetooth.cpl and proceeded to correctly find the mouse identified as it was setup in osx when I first set it up there. I then tried connecting to it in multiple ways, both by supplying no passphrase, letting it decide it's passphrase or entering one (0000 as some documentations have pointed out). None of these solutions worked, so now I'm stuck with a mouse that works in osx and vmware fusion, and that used to work in server 2008 before I installed Apples provided drivers for their hardware.
So my question is - have any of you run into this problem on Vista (I'm figuring Vista is closer to server 2008 than XP is, because they share at least some of the same core as far as I know).
Another thing I've noticed is that I can't make Apple Software Update update Bootcamp to 2.1 - it simply doesn't acknowledge that Bootcamp is installed on Windows, even if I try and force the registering of it with the encluded .exe file in the zip when I download it manually)
I would really appreciate any sort of help on this problem, as I'm fresh out of ideas as to what I can do about it. The only thing I can think of is that Apple's drivers somehow broke the configuration that was working (in resetting it after reboot), but then the question is: How to make it work again.
Again: please help, any help is much appreciated.

Today I installed Vista Ultimate on my new (early 2008) MBP, to find that it killed my Bluetooth on Vista, and also on my OS X partition. Both OS's claim that there is no Bluetooth Hardware attached. It worked after I installed the Drivers, but stopped when I tried to install an Apple BT Keyboard.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I'll begin searching for an answer.
I did do a Super Duper Clone, before I installed Vista on the Boot Camp partition, but I'm fearful that it may be a hardware issue.
    Cheers Teky

  • IPhone 4s Wifi Problem - now on my second device and still not working..help

I got my first iPhone 4s less than 3 weeks ago the wifi worked fine for the first week and connected fine without a problem. I then began to have problems where it would appear with the server cannot be found etc. Yet i had full signal on the wifi and my 3g works fine, i was quite fustrated reset my phone, and also my wireless I had no luck! I contacted my provider and they tried a few things I could join up to my wireless it would work and then would stop working after 5 or 10 minutes,  what they couldn't understand was my partners 3GS worked perfect and so did a friends iPhone 4 when they used the connection, previously I had an 3GS myself and it worked perfect with the wireless. My provider decided to send out me a replacement 4S I received this earlier on today, the Internet worked fine on my wifi and then the same thing has started happening again, I have reset the phone a few times and works okay for 5 or 10 minutes (like now as I am typing this) but then again comes up with the same message with cannot connect to the server, even though I have full bar on the wifi signal and sat next to it.
I am stuck at a dead end and unsure on what to do I use my phone for everything and I find it frustrating that I cannot use my Internet on the phone properly and I am already on my second handset.
I was wondering whether anybody could help me out with this as I just don't know what to do
Any answers/advice would be much help and greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

I have the exact same phone as yours but the thing is, connecting to wifi and 3G and surfing the net with my iphone is fine. when it comes to updating and downloading apps. it took years to do it!

  • Problems Connecting Bluetooth

I Can't get my new i6 to connect with Bluetooth. Any suggestions.

The attempted connection is to a land line Panasonic home phone.  The  car
is a 2015 model.  I did not restore the 6 from my old 4s.  Does  the name
have any relevance?  Pardon my ignorance, but I am NOT a  sophisticated
techie.  It was very simple with the 4s.  I turned on  bluetooth, put it in
proximity to the other electronics, the phone identified  them and I could
connect.  With the 6, the phone won't identify any  bluetooth device with which to
connect.  In my simplistic mind that seems  to point to a problem with the 6
or its software.  I have noted that others  report similar problems on the
internet in non-Apple forums.  Do you have  any suggestions?

  • Bluetooth stack Incompatabilities

    Hello folks,
I am new to the Wiimote, which is the bluetooth device I was hoping to use. However, the wiimote I bought turns out to be a cheap knockoff of the originla Nintendo Wiimotes. Surely there is comprehendable bluetooth technology even in this device though!
I was hoping to use the software 'OSCulator' to read the data being sent from this device.
I was wondering if anyone out there knows of any software that can be installed on Macbook Pro 10.6.8 that can understand/except/read the data being transmitted by the cheapmote. I stumbled across a video that mentions different types of bluetooth stacking/coding. I do not understand this, but at least I am now aware there's more than one method of bluetooth (I hope).
Note I am not trying to find an easy way round this. I am more intrigued to know what can be done about the problem, and learn a little more about using the bluetooth protocol as I go.
    Thanks in advance!
    P.

The stacking information refers to Bluetooth implementations on different devices (as I understand it, drivers required vs no drivers).  I have no clue what Apple uses, but I think I can say that you, as a user, should not be concerned (or interested) in the underlying information.

  • Serial COM Port to TCPIP

I saw a lot of posts that deal with this, however: I have a test rack with 24 UUTs, each has a usb to Ethernet adapter.  I want to use each adapter to talk to the UUT with the same IP (can't changed it it's static).  I need to be able to go through a com port and communicate to a specific UUT, knowing that I am communicating through this specific com port, not any other of the 24.
I saw a few virtual drivers, that seem to do this, but has anyone done anything of this nature before?  I know I can create a NI Visa resource in NI MAX but that doesn't help me, because I can't link a com port to that resource, can I?

    rsmrostov wrote:
‎You wrote that you have a USB-to-Ethernet adapter. Did you mean the TRIPP-LITE extender?
    yes
That is simply a USB extender, no conversion to Ethernet. - obviously
Then why did you describe it as a USB-to-ethernet adapter?
    rsmrostov wrote:
Does your device speak TCP-IP or serial? -TCP-IP
Where is the USB-to-serial adapter, and what model is it? non, there's a driver that comes with the device, that must let you talk to TCP/IP
Is it integrated into the DUT? - most likely, not sure to be honest, as I am helping out one of the guys who plain just doesn't know.
What can you tell us about the DUT? - Linux based device, has a fixed IP
You showed us a screenshot of MAX, listing several COM ports. So, those COM ports somehow exist on your system. You also said that only one of them is connected to the DUT. If this is true, then the COM port must be created outside of the device (for example, a USB-to-serial adapter). However, if the device doesn't use serial communications, then it doesn't make any sense to have a USB-to-serial adapter at all, because there's no easy way to run TCP over serial.
It sounds like you need to do some research on exactly how your DUT works, what types of connections it offers, and what protocol it uses. If you absolutely need to connect to multiple devices, each of which have the same IP address, I would recommend that you get a bunch of cheap home NAT (network address translation) devices, often seen as a home/office router (allows you to connect multiple computers to a single internet connection). Assign each one a unique IP address within the same subnet, plug them all into an ethernet hub or switch, and plug one DUT into each router. Configure the router's internet address to match the subnet of the DUT, and set each router to route all incoming connections to the IP of the DUT.

  • Bluetooth stack/jabra a320s dongle

i bought jabra a320s which came with widcomm drivers and i have toshiba bluetooth stack on my S300m laptop. The toshiba bluetooth stack is not recognising my A320s dongle. it says please plugin BT adapter. i uninstalled widcomm and tried with toshiba v6.10...and also v6.30....i want my a320s to work with toshiba rather than widcomm bluetooth software.
    How do i do it?

Common error to the jabra hardware, go to the jabra website and ensure that they posted a Vista bluetooth stack driver. You may not have a choice but use their driver.  Toshiba Bluetooth stack is genuinely adaptable to all hardware device with few exceptions.

  • Cant assign com port to resource name

I'm setting  up a vi that will be used on a target pc, where the com port available on the target  (com5) is different from the ones available on my development pc. I'm trying to create a constant or control at the input of my hardware vi that identifies the com port, but it won't let me assign com5, apparently because my development pc doesn't have com5 available. If I give it a selectable control that I can select at run time on the target, it defaults to a com port not available to the target and when launched it hangs up. How can I hardwire (make default) the resource name to a com that is unavailable on my dev. pc?

Mark, please see attached screenshot of my vi. I tried what you suggested. The drop down constant that is wired to the CILXS vi is what pops up when I create control, so that is the text format I duplicated with the unwired string constant shown above it. Of course, when I tried to use it I deleted the drop down constant and wired in the string constant, and it didn't work. The error message says insufficient location information. Any other ideas?

  • Serial ports not appearing in MAX - VISA installed.

    Hi All,
Had a rather strange issue today that I couldn't resolve with serial ports not appearing in MAX (and hence being inaccessible to LabVIEW). Under the windows device manager it shows 4 COM ports and I have verified with an external program that they are functioning correctly.
    I had the LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f2 runtime installed, DAQmx 9.6.1 and NI-VISA 5.3 (5.2 also didn't work).
    Things I have tried:
    - Updating VISA from 5.2 to 5.3
    - Reinstalling the COM port devices under device manager
    - Changing the COM port numbers
    - Verifying that the COM ports are functioning correctly
    - Tried adding a USB to Serial converter as a new COM port
    - Reinstalling MAX
    - Reinstalling NI-VISA
    - Reinstalling everything (reboot each time when prompted)
    - Resetting the hardware configuration from within MAX
    - Run installers / MAX as administrator (this is running from the local admin account)
    - Checked that NI-VISA appears under software in MAX
    - Repaired MAX/NI-VISA
Is there anything else that could cause the COM ports not to appear in MAX when they appear (and work correctly) in device manager when a reinstall of NI VISA / MAX won't solve?

I found the solution - it turns out that the serial ports were available to LabVIEW, they just didn't show up in MAX because installing just the runtime does not show the devices in MAX.
Despite doing a lot of googling earlier, it didn't throw up this knowledgebase article until I searched for it under a different phrase - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/766FD80DAE42E52886256A0200619CFE?OpenDocument

  • Unable to create the bluetooth virtual COM port

    Hi all
I install BS from Toshiba and it seems ok. Bt ir desn´t work. I see all the drivers installed, system devices, etc. No Toshiba BT ports can be seen. Local com ports only show modem port. Try to create a virtual port but get a message "unable to create a bluetooh virtual port" I have a satellite m100-145. Can anyone help on this ?
    thx

    Thx for your suport.
I decide to reinstall windows and all software. Now it works.
The error was due to the fact that if you have BS from Microsoft (called bluetooth monitor) and you install the BS from Toshiba after that, even if you remove the BS from MS, the BS from Tos is unable to create the virtual com ports (except modem).
I try with the latest version of BS and the problem was not solved. So if there is a previous installation of BS fom MS the BS from Tos get the message of "unable to create the bluetooth virtual com port".
Now i fixed reinstalling SO from beginning.

  • Bluetooth Stack COM Server Error

Just got my E66. Gettign repeated "Bluetooth Stack COM Server" errors when my phone is away from the PC. The only thing I can do to re-establish the connection is to reboot the PC. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions out there?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I think I may have finally fixed this by removing the WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack and using the version from Microsoft that comes with Windows XP. All seems to be stable since I did this. You may have to re-pair your phone with the PC (and any other devices), but that's not a big deal.
I based what I did on this article http://www.motioncomputing.com/kb/article.aspx?id=10092
It didn't exactly fit my situation, but basically remove the software for any non-Windows Bluetooth drivers using Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Then uninstall the blue drivers using Device Manager.
Then just re-boot and Windows should sort itself out.
    Good luck

  • Having a MBPr late 2013 and having a sound problem the sound does not come tom the headphones even its all the way up and when i remove the headphones it docent come out the internal speaker either ? any idea how i fix this?

the sound do not come out the headphones sometimes altho its all the way up in the setting and when i remove the headphones the sound doesnt come from the internal speaker either and only a reboot fixes the problem and thats annoying! any idea how tto fix this?

Hello. I've been able to play sound without problems through headphones or external speakers to date - the output always switched to these automatically until today. Now, sound output continues through internal speakers even if I plug in headphones or external speakers.
    - I tested the headphones and speakers on other devices: they work fine.
    - When I plug in headphones or speakers into the audio output port (I have verified that I'm not using the input jack) the devices are not detected and are not listed under the output tab in system preferences-sound.
I concluded from this that I probably had a problem with the audio port, so to test that I tried the following. I plugged a powered multi-USB device with ports for microphone line-in and headphone line-out into the USB port and switched it on. I verified that it was working by plugging a USB stick into the multi-USB device - this was recognised successfully, so the device was clearly working. I then plugged in headphones and speakers into the audio line-out on the multi USB device - but still no sound came through them (and tey were not listed among output devices) and the Mac continued using internal speakers.
What should I do? Does the latter test suggest that the problem does not lie with the audio port, or is my test not conclusive? What would you advise?
    Many thanks indeed!

  • Not enough memory error when disconnecting device on a virtual com port

I maintain a large application that collects data from many data source channels (using coustom hardware read thru a conventional COM port) and I am adding a GPS data source on a USB port using a virtual COM port driver. The application runs 24/7/365 and works well including the GPS data, if undisturbed. However, the application needs to tolerate a physical disconnect and reconnect of the GPS device without user intervention.  When I disconnect the GPS, the application becomes unresponsive most of the time (the mouse responds and other programs that are open on the desktop work fine). I abstracted the serial code and made a separate vi (below) for testing.  When I disconnect the GPS from the COM port, I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message 9 out of 10 times and the vi is unresponsive until I clear the error message (the tenth time it continues working). I built the vi this way to collect data continuously. I suspect that this is the problem with the full app but I don't see the Not enough memory message there and therefore the full app does not respond and must be terminated via Task Manager. The full app runs full screen mode.
The LV app runs on Windows XP and LabView 7.0 (the client doesn't want to upgrade).
I have tried probing the error message lines at all points in the vi but they don't show anything when the 'Not enough memory' message occurs (they show the expected device not found error after clearing the error message).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
    Mel

I think he was meaning to say without user intervention on the software side.
I have seen odd behavior if you disconnect from a com port whilst LV still has the port open.   There are a couple things I myself woud try, being the experimenting type that I am.  Perhaps setting up a com port check to see if it has a valid connection before polling for data. If not then a blank case or some other generic code.
The issue with this would be if it became disconnected while LV was polling data.  Hard to get around this condition.  Is there a way that the cause of the of the connect/disconnect (whether human or otherwise) could be set up so that a signal can be sent to the controlling system (pre-disconnect and post-connect) to trigger an event to handle the software side?  A simple signal switch or something.  Just thinking out loud. Withoug knowing all the particulars, it's hard to make detailed recommendations.

  • Bluetooth over serial com port

I was wondering if I could somehow determine the COM port my bluetooth device is on. I have gotten as far as discovering my bluetooth device and extracting the correct address and device name using the Blueooth Discover VI, and I have been able to obtain the correct UUID number from the Bluetooth RFCOMM Service Discovery VI. Is there any way to obtain what com port it is on from what I have?

    CF_eee,
Thank you for clarifying what you are trying to do.
I have two suggestions for you. Each of them may be able to accomplish what you are trying to do.
    (1) Use the Windows Registry to look up information on connected hardware.
On my computer, information about my Serial Port (COM1) is stored in the Windows Registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\ACPI\PNP0501\1.
Example keys are Class, ConfigFlags, DeviceDesc, Driver, FriendlyName, HardwareID, and Service (amongst others).
You can access these registry values from LabVIEW using the Functions located at Connectivity > Windows Registry Access VIs. If you walk through the Enum or ACPI folders, you should be able to determine which Serial Port represents your Bluetooth device by parsing and matching against these keys.
    (2) Use the System Exec VI to call the devcon Command-line Utility from Microsoft
The devcon utility can be downloaded here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q311272
From the devcon download page: The DevCon utility is a command-line utility that acts as an alternative to Device Manager. Using DevCon, you can enable, disable, restart, update, remove, and query individual devices or groups of devices.
The System Exec.vi can be found on the Functions palette at Connectivity > System Exec.vi
You can find documentation on devcon at the download page (linked above).
