Problem Removing MailBox Role
Hi,
I have two mailbox servers in exchange 2013 and I am maintaining DAG on both servers. I recently added a new mailbox server in my environment. Now I have 3 mailbox servers. But the third mailbox server does not have any DAG nor it is the member of any DAG
in the organization.
The problem is that when I want to uninstall exchange from mailbox 3. It gives the following error.
Error:
This computer is a member of a database availability group (DAG). It must be removed from the DAG before you can uninstall Exchange.
Please suggest.
Thanks.
It only shows MBX1 and MBX2

Problems installing Mailbox role on Exchange Server 2010 SP3
I am in the process of installing Exchange Server 2010 SP3 on a Windows Server 2012 server in order to migrate our existing Exchange 2003 server. Everything went well with the installation process until I went to add the Mailbox server role, which is giving
me the following error (from the log file):

I found I could fix this by removing the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Microsoft-Exchange-Troubleshooters/Operational
and everything underneath it.
My guess is that wevtutil didn't like adding an event log where it already existed but was slightly different in setup (no idea how, exactly).
After 24 hours I'll try post again - giving things time to make sure they are actually working. -

See if deleting the account SystemMailbox{bb558c35-97f1-4cb9-8ff7-d53741dc928c} in ADUC (you should find it in the Users Container) and then rerun

Removing Mailbox DBs, while keeping all AD Exchange attributes intact?
So I have migrated my groupware platform from Exch2010sp1 to Google Apps (sorry, MS, but if you gave 365 away for free to 501c3's I would have considered it). I am using
Google's Google Apps Directory Sync (GADS)to populate GApps, and intend to maintain my AD infrastructure and add users that way via the Exchange Admin tools.
However, I don't need the Hub/Client Access/Mailbox DB role installed anymore.
Everything that I have found in looking to date is for the reverse (e.g. people with problems where they have managed to remove the Mailbox DB role but they still have the Exch AD attributes) of what I need. But in looking at EMC and the PS Remove-Mailbox-Database
cmd, everything seems to want to remove the Exch AD attributes. And, of course, just disconnecting the Mailbox DBs isn't feasible, as the DB still contains all my user mailboxes from pre-migration.
Is this even possible? Would it be something I could do via ADSIEdit? I'm certainly willing to go there, but probably not without some good expert guidance, as I feel like I could hose my schema pretty good by trying that on my own.
Much thanks in advance for any assistance.
As I understand, you want to uninstall the Exchange 2010 Hub/Client Access/Mailbox roles but keep the AD.
If you mean the specific Exchange attributes for my AD users, but get rid of the actual mailbox store data, then yes.
I appreciate the response, but those steps are exactly what I don't want to do, namely:
"On the Readiness Checks page, please view the status to determine if the organization and server role prerequisite checks
completed successfully. When the checks have completed successfully, click Uninstall to remove the specified server role(s) or the entire installation of Exchange 2010."
This will remove Exch from AD, as well as the attributes. I want to do 1/2 of this. Remove the Exchange mailboxes &
Exch server functionality, but keep the AD/LDAP attributes so my sync to Google Apps will continue to work based on the rules I've set. -
Exchange 2010 SP3 mailbox role installation error
Hello.
I can't install the Mailbox role on a Windows 2008 R2 server, the first Exchange in the domain and forest (2 dcs in the domain).
Client Access Role and Hub Transport Role installed correctly.
Setup preparations - without an error.
Started the Exchange 2010 SP3 Installation, which start correctly, all prerequisites are seems to be ok. When arriving on the Mailbox Roles it make this error:

Thanks,
Igor K.Hi,
The above error may occur when the federated built-in e-mail account that links to the computer account no longer exists or the federated built-in e-mail account in the Active Directory service is corrupted.
I recommend you follow the steps below for troubleshooting:
1. Remove the FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 e-mail account by using the ADSIEdit tool.
a. Run adsiedit.msc.
b. Locate the Default Naming Context node, and then locate to the CN=Users container.
c. Locate and then right-click the CN=FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 container. Then, click Delete.
2.Rerun the Exchange Server 2010 Mailbox role setup application.
3.Create a new federated e-mail account by using the following cmdlet:
New-Mailbox -Arbitration -Name FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042 -UserPrincipalName
FederatedEmail.4c1f4d8b-8179-4148-93bf-00a95fa1e042@<Default_Accepted_Domain>
Hope it helps.
If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.
Best regards,
Amy

Hi I am having problems removing mail from trash folder. Can anyone help please
Hi I am having problems removing mail from trash folder. I can send mails to the folder but cannot delete them permanently from the trash folder. I am using Iphone 3G and anm up to date with OS. Can anyone help please
Check that there isn't a different Trash folder to the one with the proper Trash symbol on it.
If you see one in your list of folders rather than a separate one, highlight it, then click on Mailbox...Use this mailbox for...Trash -
Dear all
During install Exchange 2013 through Powershell on Server 2012 I got this error in Mailbox role: Client Access service :
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

Any advice please !!I can't answer your question but I had a similar issue when I was trying to move our mailbox database off the C: drive. Our environment still has an Exchange 2007 server in it and when I was trying to move the database on the 2013 server, I would get
error messages saying the database does not exist. It seemed like it was trying to move the database on the 2007 server from the similar error messages that I was getting. To get around it, I deleted the database and created a new one on the drive
where we wanted it.
I discovered this when I was configuring the Antispam settings. I deleted our 2007 settings, added them to the 2013 shell, the settings appeared on our 2007 server. The shell on 2013 was making changes to 2007.
I'm not sure if there is a "Get|Set or New" command that I/we should be using when this happens. Or maybe my issues will be fixed if I just remove the Exchange 2007 server? I'm not ready to do that yet because I can't configure the spam filtering
on 2013 yet with its shell not being able to make the changes that we need.
I don't know if your environment is in coexistence mode like mine.
Hopefully someone else out there has an answer or can tell us when/how the shell can make the appropriate changes to the 2013 server. Does this happen after the 2007 server is removed? -
Removing mailbox server exchange 2010
Dear all,
I have two mailbox servers, when I try to uninstall mailbox server roll on the exchange 2010 Mailbox server1 I get below error msg.
Failed
Error:
This Mailbox server is responsible for generating an Offline Address Book. Removal of the Mailbox role is not permitted
If I move an offline Address book from Mailbox server1 to Mailbox server2 then I guess it should be okay?
Also get below error msg as well, do I need to take care of anything else before I remove the mailbox server role ?
Error:
Setup cannot continue with the uninstall because the 'beremote' () process (ID: 2076) has open files. Close the process and restart Setup.
Thanks !!!Hi Ms-2010,
Before you uninstall the first Exchange 2010 Server, you need to fix few prerequisites warning/errors for a clean uninstallation.
Four points should be considered:
1. Change the OAB (Offline Address Book) generation role to other available server.
2. Remove the server from DAG membership.
3. Move the Arbitration mailboxes to another available Mailbox Server.
4. Ensure that none of the databases are using public folder of this server as default and Move Public folder replica to other available mailbox server.
Hope it is helpful.
Best regards,
Eric -

Some additional information:
This is a clean installation of Exchange 2013 in a forest that has never had exchange.
The domain and forest preparations run without errors and are at functional level of 2003.
The Exchange server has all prerequisites installed for a Mailbox server role and is running on a VM with Server 2012 as the OS.
This error occurs on other VMs as well that we are trying to implement as mailbox servers in the same forest.
I am running the installation as an enterprise, schema, domain admin.
Thanks for your help in advance.Yes. I cleaned out Exchange with ADSIEdit so I could re-run the Prepare Schema, domain and all domains and then re-ran setup to show the output here. But the install still failed.

OIA webservice for removing user role
Hi,
I need information regarding web services exposed in OIA for removing roles etc. We need it in our environment wherein we may not be having priviledge to make database query directly for removing user roles.
(the use case is as follows:
when user id disabled in OIM, assosciated database resource (DBAT, OIA database is used;rbx_users) is disabled ,and user's role is to be removed)
how this can be achieved via web-service call.
any pointers will be helpful

Unable to remove mailbox from Nokia E52
Hello,
I configured 2 mailboxes in my E52 which was working fine until I configured 1 more account. After I created that another account all the 3 mailboxes got disconnected. Now when I try to connect any of the mailboxes it prompts for password, which is not accepting after many attempts. So it remains in the disconnected state. Now when I try to remove/delete the mailbox, it gives me an error: You must be connected to remove the mailbox. Try again later. Neither I am able to connect to any of the mailboxes nor I am able to remove/delete any of the mailboxes. I am in a fix now. Pls helpMenu > Email > Settings > Highlight the mailbox but don't open it > Options > "Remove Mailbox"
I had the same problem. Make sure the mailbox is disconnected when you do it. It will work -
