Problem removing package from AUR

hi, ive been using avant window navigator, the bzr version from the AUR. after a system update it stopped working and i want to try something else out anyway, but when i try to remove it i get
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: awn-extras-bzr: requires avant-window-navigator-bzr
is there a way i can manually delete it?

pacman -Rsc avant-window-navigator-bzr
That will remove avant-window-navigator-bzr and anything that depends on it.

I usually use yaourt -Syua to keep my system up to date. Now yaourt offers me a new version of grub-git every time I update and the patch that I applied would get removed. Is there a way to remove grub-git from the list or to ignore it permanently?

Problem about networkmanager from AUR

Well I have downloaded and installed the different dependencies for the package but I got this error during makepkg og networkmanager - to be able to use knetworkmanager. Using kde as desktop - so I'm not that much of the understanding kind of building the packages and the errors from them:

Yes - I have installed the package from AUR - wich is the only place where I can find this
So cannot see what to do.
And besides that I cannot see the why not I can get and DHCP address to the wireless network. or get on in a WEP-crypto network!

Package from AUR failed to install after doing many steps, how to rm?

How can I see what files have been left on my hard drive after a package failed to install. I can't pacman -Rsu the package because it didnt install, but now i got some other packages that i don't need then. and probably some other stuff while the package was being extracted..
How can i prevent from leaving a messy trail?

Yeah gen2ly, i was using yaourt to get a package from AUR.
I was able to uninstall the extra packages that were uninstalled, but is it possible that when the PKGBUILD failed that it left some random files somewhere? That's what I trully want to know. The other dependancies i have already removed.
Hey thanks for the info on unzip, Runiq! unzip works miracles!!!! I installed it, and now the front end "File Roller" AKA "Archive Manager" in Gnome can suddenly handle .zip files! It's awesome! no need for p7zip or xarchiver.
Every newbie or windows transferee should know about it!
But anyways, is it possible the failed PKGBUILD left files somewhere?

Virtual memory exhausted when compiling packages from AUR

Recently I've seen this error more and more often. When I tried compiling some packages from AUR, I ended up getting "virtual memory exhausted" error. The first time it happened with clementine-git, then android-studio. Can I do something about it?

I am also facing the same problem. I am trying to install a package, and the installations aborts saying 'virtual memory exhausted'. The RAM is 2 GB and i have alloted 2 GB as swap. Things i have tried so far
-install using yaourt
-install using makepkg.
-change TMPDIR to HDD.
Even when i tried it without any window manager to start, limiting the RAM usage, the problem still persists. The only way is to allot an extra swap space, but that would mean that i will have to delete a partition, which is not a feasible solution. Is there anything else one could do. ?

Check that there isn't a different Trash folder to the one with the proper Trash symbol on it.
If you see one in your list of folders rather than a separate one, highlight it, then click on Mailbox...Use this mailbox for...Trash

Can I legally remove packages from a JRE bundled with my Application

Can anyone help me get clarification on whether or not I can remove packages from a JRE that I am bundling with my Java Desktop Application. The full JRE is 90+ megs, my application does not require all of that. It was my understanding that I could modify the JRE as long I left the copyright notifications in place and did not try to represent the JRE as something I created. The license agreement is vague, at best. I was looking for direction or legal statement that allows me to trim out unnecessary packages from a JRE that is bundled with my application.

Did you already try these steps?

Remove package from Distribution Point

I have been fighting with an OS deployment for the last day. The log was showing it was unable to find the package p0100001 which was my boot image. I eventually got it working as I failed to configure my boundary correctly. But it got me wondering...
In SCCM 2007, it was pretty straight forward on how to remove packages from distribution points. But I still can't figure out how to remove a package, specifically a boot image, from a DP. I can view the distribution in the monitoring section and see the
package successfully deployed, but what if I wanted to remove that boot image from the DP? How is this done. I'm sure it's staring me in the face, but I'm missing it. Thanks!

I realize this is an old post, but I am dealing with the same issue regarding the removal of deployment package contents from Distribution Points. After removing a Distribution Point from the Contents Locations tab on one of my Deployment Packages,
how long does it take for the deployment package to be removed from the distribution point. I have removed a large deployment package from a distribution point, but am not seeing any increase in the available free space.
Any help would be appreciated.

[SOLVED] Building VCS packages from AUR fails

Hello,
Whenever I try to build a git or svn package from AUR, build fails with the error in a clean chroot enviroment:

Aborting...
When the build starts, makepkg actually downloads source files properly. Any clues?

I was building https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/uefi-shell-svn: a popular and up-to-date PKGBUILD.
Indeed I didn't merge the conf files of clean chroot. There was a makepkg.conf.pacnew, the lacking part in my old makepkg.conf was:
VCSCLIENTS=('bzr::bzr'
'git::git'
'hg::mercurial'
'svn::subversion')
and some small changes. Everything works fine now. Was my bad. Sorry for incovenience and thanks for your help.

Having problems removing tags from script.

I'm not using the browser to run Adobe Story, but the Desktop version from my iMac. Cmd + Double Click works, but once every 30 times. Is anyone else having this problem removing tags from a script?

There are other ways to remove tags from a script
From Tagging Panel:
- Open Tagging Panel from View Menu
- Click on Edit button. Here you have the option to delete individual tag-items or remove all from the scene.
From File Menu
- Open File - Tagging menu
Here you will find the options to delete all/manually added/automatically added tags.

[yaourt] update only packages from aur

I just switched from my own aur_update script to yaourt, because it handles dependencies.. But how to only update packages from aur?

10g: Cannot remove package from "model" (business components)

Using the new 9.0.5.1 JDev. I have removed all of the object in a package.Security package, because i did not want the capital letter in the package name (suspected of causing some other problems in my workspace). I cannot create a package.security package at all now. after just browsing the project defination, and looking in some other xml files, I see that the package is still defined all over the place, even without files in it.
Why is this persisted? Shouldn't it be cleaned up when the last file is removed?
Or at least, shouldn't I be able to remove it from my project without hacking all the XML code?

package is an illegal name for a package in Java, I believe, so let's assume you started with "test.Security" package name.
I filed Bug# 3574928 for the problem that exists in trying to "Move to Different Package..." if the destination package only differs from the target package by a different of case.
The workaround in the meantime is to:
1. Shift-select components in "test.Security" package and right-mouse "Move to Different Package...".
2. Use a package name temporarily like "test.security2"
3. Do "View | System Navigator" to see the System Navigator.
4. Use System Navigator to erase the "test.Security" package by clicking on the BC4J package and right-mouse "Erase from Disk..."
5. Close the project, and reopen it.
6. Shift-select components in "test.security2" package and right-mouse "Move to Different Package...".
7. Specify "test.security" as the target package.

[SOLVED] Unable to build packages from AUR (build: command not found)

I recently hosed the filesystem on my arch install of ~8 months. I reinstalled arch today and didn't have many problems since I had backups of many important config files. Anyways, I still need to get a few programs installed from AUR, but nothing I get from AUR will build.
I download the tarball, extract into a folder in /home/myuser/builds and then go into that folder and run makepkg -s (as always)
It checks the files and extracts/downloads them. Then I get the following error message:

I've run abs and I checked out the abs wiki page, I've also installed base-devel. I am not sure what else I need to do, the error message is not specific enough.
The packages I have been trying to install are ttf-ms-fonts 2.0-7, keepass 2.14-2, and I also tried ttf-vista-fonts 1-3. I am fairly certain that it is not a problem with the PKGBUILD files.

I'll give it a try, as I frequently install software from AUR. In the past I think I let software from the AUR get outdated, Yaourt (clumsy name) sounds like it would help that a bit. Thanks!
Edit: BTW, I really love Arch. I tried it out on a flash drive about 8 months ago (maybe more), and after about 12 hours I was sold and installed it on the drive that Windows XP previously held. Even considering that I had many problems during the initial install, but they were all problems that caused me to learn and were easy to resolve. Seriously, I have lots of Windows tech experience, but only Arch forced me to learn Linux. I had tried Ubuntu previously but it was such a bore, and the problems tended to be hard to find solutions for. I try to convince my other Linux using friends to try arch, but they see it as too hands-on. I don't see it that way, it is very hands off after initial configuration, and the initial config only takes a week or less on the first try and a day and a half (or so) if you re-install. Having backups of your config files is of course a huge deal, and I am glad I had most of those.
Really, I love Arch Linux, it has taught me so much.

it keeps asking me to continue bulding and then restart building. it just wont install any packages.
for none-aur packages it works fine btw.

sudo mkdir /etc/hal/fdi
sudo touch /etc/hal/fdi/policy

Edit: now ive just seen that i forgot about the warnings. i am not sure about what they mean and how to fix it.
