Problem rendering chapters

After changing an object in an iDVD project, iDVD warns to view the chapter markers... I'm getting this behavior after fixing the soundtrack which had been truncated in GarageBand. (I have an iMovie project shared with GB and from GB the movie is shared with iDVD). Now the soundtrack is as long as the video, but the chapter menu jumps are out of sync with the original chapter markers. Strangely enough, the amount the last chapter is out of sync is just about the same length of time that was added to the audio track - a relationship? Is there anything I can tweak to fix this problem without having to start over from scratch? Or does anyone know of a utility that can restructure and reindex the VIDEO_TS files?

Did you follow the chapter marker "rules"?:
Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the start or end of the timeline. Make sure no chapter markers are within a transition. Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the end of a transition. Adding one at the beginning, is a BIG no-no.

  • My mac Mini has problem rendering images and video

    THE PROBLEM:
My mac mini has problem rendering JPEG image. There are strips on the images. Other images such as GIF, PNG, TIFF, and BMP are displayed nicely.
The images shown in the links below illustrate the problem:
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/terencewong/71481156/
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/terencewong/73360989/
(Please note that this image is grabbed from my faulty Mac Mini and saved into TIFF. For uploading purpose, I converted it into JPEG on ANOTHER computer.)
For movies, AVI can be playback without problem. But when it is converted to MPEG, it looks like an untunned TV channel.
    FIXES TRIED:
I did erase and install 3 to 4 times using both the install disc and my Tiger Family Pack. All ended up with strips on the JPEG images and the generated MPEG movies.
I've also tried to flash the firmware to 113-xxxxx-124 using ATI's october 2005 universal ROM update, however, the ROM Revision shown in System Profiler is still 113-xxxxx-116 no matter how many time I reboot the system.
    INVESTIGATION:
Yesterday, I did some research and got to know that JPEG and MPEG are using DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) for decompression. And the ATI Radeon 9200 chip provide such a transform on hardware basis, which free the CPU from doing something else. Feel free to point out my inaccuracy.
    HARDWARE SPECIFICATION:
I bought the Mac Mini in the last Februray.
The system Boot ROM version is: 4.8.9f1
Display card is ATI Radeon 9200
    Chipset Model: ATY,RV280
    Revision ID: 0x0001
    ROM Revision: 113-xxxxx-116
    A POSSIBLE CONCLUSION:
I suspect that it is this part of the chip (the DCT) that is faulty.
Anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Many thanks!

Assuming that your display is tightly connected, thus the problem is not caused by something as simple as that, the fact that a full erase and install has not removed the problem would, I think, point to this being a hardware issue, and given that everyone's mini (with the possible exception of some of the latest ones) has the same video chipset as yours, and do not suffer the problem that you appear to, it seems very likely that your mini has a fault which is in need of repair.
If you have an Apple Store nearby, I would take it there to have it checked out - at the very least they should be able to replicate your problem using an in-store display, and if not, thusly suggest it's something external to the mini and concerning your display or something very unusual in the immediate environment of the mini. If you don't have an Apple Store in reach, I'd take the system to an Apple authorized service provider since at the present time it is under warranty.

  • Having problems rendering

    Hello everyone:
OK now I'm having problems rendering. I have about 6m:22sec of video that I need to render. But I get this Render Error:
Insufficient disk space. Free up space with the Render Manager and Retry?
There is no files in the Render Manager Section?
What do I do. The project is on a 1 TB Western Digital Ext Hard Drive with plenty of HD space.
    Any help would be great.
    This is not my day
    Damon

The project is on a 1 TB Western Digital Ext Hard Drive with plenty of HD space.
Fine. But where are the Render files being written to and how much space is on that drive?
Look at your Scratch Disks setting to find out.

  • Mac Pro has problems rendering and RAM previewing in Adobe AE

I've been using Adobe After Effects 7 and I have a 3g new Mac Pro. It's a great computer, really fast with Final Cut Studio Universal, etc. and when rendering sequences in FCP the program doesn't quit. BUT, when I'm trying to RAM preview or render a composition in Adobe After Effects the application will quit unexpectedly everytime. I found that it would only quit when the composition was over approx. 30seconds, but I've used an eMac that never had problems rendering much longer clips. The fact that the program quits after a certain amount of time makes me think it is an issue with RAM availability to the program, as in a conflict with the program, and the new intel-based Mac Pro. I've asked around on the Adobe website but there is no specific solution. Has anyone heard talk that the intel-based Macs or new OSX, are conflicting with Adobe applications, etc?

Mostly correct, Jim. Photoshop CS3 (UB) Beta is available for download and a time-limited license to CS2 license-holders. The time-limit is unspecified, but Adobe says it will end when CS3 is released.
All good reports the last time I checked on various fora.
(CS3 install does not overwrite CS2, so in case Adobe releases CS3 and pulls the plug on those time-limited CS3 Beta licenses, you'll still have CS2 to limp along with until you receive 3.)
CS2 seems to work fine on an Intel Mac, though slower because it's running in Rosetta. Heck, I'm using CS without difficulty, other than the slowness.
However, all that doesn't help the OP with AE, which isn't scheduled for a UB release until mid-2007, IIRC.

  • Idvd08 freezes when rendering chapters

I have a brand new MacBook Pro with Leopard installed and IDVD 08. I have made a long movie in IMovie which has a number of chapters. I created the DVD in iDVD 08 a few weeks before Chrstmas, but when I went to burn the DVD, it kept freezing after a while whilst rendering chapter menus.
I understand this is a known issue between iDVD08 and the Leopard operating system. Does anyone know if this issue has now been resolved or, if not, what is the ETA for a fix?
    Many thanks
    Joe McCrea

    Hello All,
I've been struggling all week-end on a project my son called me in for rescue. I've experienced too that total freeze of my brand new MBP (15"). To make things short: The problem is not solved yet, but I've isolated several facts.
First, it's started with a problem my son had with his school project on a PB-G4 and iDVD fron 08'. It choked because we had imported some 30fps elements into a 25fps project. It choked on muxing those heterogenous elements, even tough "properly" imported by iDVD.
Second. I copied his project to my MBP to benefit from the processing speed increase. On that same project, I didn't reached the point to generating the movie and got the freeze when creating the assets.
I spare you all the events in between. But after clearing that 30fps vs 25fps conflict by regenerating all components in 25fps natively, I identified the exact moment of the crash.
That project uses the Revolution theme from Theme 7.0. I've successfully generated an image file using another Theme like the Concrete Theme from www.dvdthemepak.com
The freeze appears when iDVD comes on generating the first "Scene selection" menu screen from the project. It's kind of odd as this project has 8 chapters requiring an additional scene selection menu. I see the 2nd scene selection menu being processed Ok, and the Top menu too. All menus use the same additional content for the one drop zone the Revolution theme has.
That "freezing" is very odd to me. I'm a unix geek. A system never freezes under Unix. At most, one process can go wild and hog all CPU and never relinquish a cycle before being terminated by kernel. In the case of MacOSX, the freeze is only apparent: the window manager process gets hosed. It's very probable that you can ssh to it from another unix system and shut it down being root. In this freeze. The dual cores of the Intel chips gives more chances accessing the shell level before the machine is brought to a stand still. Here: no CPU overheating. Just a plain solid freeze. I've not tracked any kernel event letting me know of a kernel issue. This is plain odd to me. I'm learning new stuff here.
Back to the issue. I was even fearing at one moment it was disliking the accentuated characters we've used in the menu texts. I eliminated this option too be removing all accents from the vowels.
Needless to say that this Project compiled without a glitch on the PowerBook. At least, we were able to finish that assignment.
Now, my MBP is still not fixed. Gotta call AppleCare for that.
Some additional clues: I got this MBP with iLife loaded in. It was missing the Old Themes I like, plus www.dvdthemepak.com themes. iDVD is smart and proposes you to load those Old Themes from the MacOSX Install disk 2 .... but this fails !!!! As I'm a bit smart I gave a try popping in the iLife 08' DVD and it allowed me to install the missing Old Themes. Now something went wrong because iDVD 7 doesn't behave like iDVD 6 and splits the lastest Themes away from the oldest and custom Themes by copying them to the user's Library folder. It keeps under the /Library only the latests themes.
I manually copied from another Mac the www.dvdthemepak.com themes and this was my mistake. iDVD went totally haywire not even recognising its installed themes, displaying a "Broken Theme" image in a hugly kiddy art crayon chalked letters. Anyways: stand still.
I decided to trash both Themes directory (user and system), pop-in the iLife DVD and reinstall iDVD. I was NOT given the choice to re-install iDVD ! So, I trashed iDVD app and tried again installing iDVD through the iLife DVD. Well, not much luck: The installer doesn't let me install iDVD but only the additional old themes. I went on with this option. "Miracle!" iDVD app was installed, with the additional themes ... but NOT the main themes (5, 6 and 7) Arrrrgh ! I'm choking.
So, I copied from another Mac with iLife 08' the 5, 6 and 7 Theme. And it worked.
Well, not that god as now iDVD freezes with the Revolution 7 theme. It may not be at all linked to all the problems I got updating iDVD from the default instal of a new MBP. At least, by reading this, you people are aware that you can only get the Old Themes from an Web install, or the iLife DVD. But NOT from the supplied DVDs.
I would need to try compiling this project with another Theme from the Theme gallery. That would identify that Themes 7 as being part of the problem (as www.dvdthemepak.com are operational).
Also, I'm eager to learn of a SAFE procedure to reinstall iDVD.
Last: I've not been able to do a "repair permissions" yet on this machine as I don't have a Leopard DVD. The Install disks that come with the MBP are not bootable. There is a different procedure that requires a specific set of actions in "to reinstall Leopard" in order to boot on those DVD. I'm scared this new procedure really reinstall Leopard, which will be a catastrophe of biblical proportions to me!
Very last. I still need to dig in the archived system logs to see if iDVD reported something before the freeze.
Hoping this help. I promise I'll post updates here when available.

  • Problems rendering Every-line Composer texts with Adobe Media Encoder

I find the text paragraph setting "Adobe Every-line Composer" a huge time saver when dealing with large amounts of text in after effects. I rarely have to do any manual tracking or line breaks to make it look good, as opposed to working with the standard Single-line Composer.
The problem is that when I render through Adobe Media Encoder (which I'm forced to do since they removed H264-mp4 support from AE:s internal renderer) the text is treated like single-line composed text. So the final render doesn't look like my AE project.
I've found two solutions to this problem:
    1. Render a lossless video file in the AE renderer and then compress it with Media Encoder. This takes more time and HDD space, and it doesn't allow me to continue working in AE while rendering.
    2. Only use Single-line composed text and make all adjustments manually, the old school way. This would not be a problem if I had not already used, and fallen in love with, the Every-line option.
Is there anyone that can think of a third, and preferably better, solution?
I use the CC 2014 versions of AE and AMC.

No, the text doesn't animate at all. It's just a normal static text box. The text part is extremely simple. All animations are done in other layers and pre-comps, combined with pre-rendered 3D graphics from Cinema 4D, rendered as image sequences. My problem is a bug, plain and simple. Or perhaps you could call it a "lack of feature support" or an "incompatibility between AE and Adobe Media Encoder".
My problem appears only when my AE project has text boxes with the "Every-line Composer" option enabled (press the menu button in the Paragraph window to find it), AND the project is rendered through Adobe Media Encoder, no matter which output format I use. I have no problems what so ever inside of after effects, or when rendering Single-line Composer text in AMC.
So, the problem is that Media Encoder doesn't recognize Every-line composed text. Instead it changes it to Single-line composed text, messing up text tracking and line breaks.
To clarify: the Adobe Every-line Composer is analyzing the entire text box instead of only the current line. That way it can automatically change the tracking of individual lines to better distribute the line breaks and build a better whole, avoiding those stray words on the last line for example. Extremely handy, if you could only render it.
I never wrote anything about animating text or that the codec is related to the text problems in any way. AMC is the problem. The codec is only a secondary problem since its the lack of mp4 H264 support that forces me to use Media Encoder in the first place, instead of using the AE render queue as I did in previous versions of AE. I like many things about rendering through AMC, like being able to continue working in AE while rendering, but there are still way too many glitches. And of course, there's the inability to render flv-files in AMC CC 2014, and Adobe's inability to provide a solution other than "Use an older version of AMC". Flv is their own damn format for christ's sake.
    Well, enough rambling.
    To put it simple:
Has anyone had a problem with "Every-line Composer" in combination with Adobe Media Encoder? Did you find a solution other than the two less-than-perfect ones in my first message?
    Thanks!

  • Problems Rendering Jpg/Png

I'm working on a project where we have tiff images and we break them into the individual pages, then we save those pages into memory streams in order to convert them into byte arrays so we can put that in a datatable column  and bind that table to a report that has a OLE blob field that renders the image.
The problem I'm have is that in  less than 1% of images the report fails to render the image and throw the following error:
Error in file tempReportPath.rpt: The request could not be submitted for background processing
I have analyzed the error and it only happens when the image is saved in the memory Stream and byte array as a compressed format: JPG/PNG/ Etc. Saving the image as a bitmap does not produce this problem, but the bitmap memory footprint makes it unusable for this project.
    See code below.
Public Shared Function GetPicturesBytes(ByVal FileFullName As String) As Byte()()
If Not IO.File.Exists(FileFullName) Then Return Nothing

    Hi;
You don't mention which version of Crystal Reports you are using, or if you have installed the latest service packs.
We saw a similar issue recently, and our findings were:
    - Crystal Reports 2008 with Service Pack 2 seems to handle images better than other versions
    - Bitmap (BMP) files seem to work better than JPGs
    Best Regards,

  • Problem rendering -- only part of the comp gets rendered

I'm puzzled as to why our comps are only getting the first part rendered. then it stops and the rest looks like a still image. could this be a memory issue?
    We're using IMacs with Tiger.
    Thank you!

It's all being done from local files, either on the hard drive or on a flash drive. no network involved.
It would seem the iMacs can't handle it for some reason. They hav 1GB RAM and the processor is wGH PPC G5
This morning i tried the same file on a different computer in the lab, (the instructor's computer) a tower, memory: 1 GB, processer: 1.8, 1.8 GHz Power PC
g5, and it works on that one.
I'm puzzled because last year with the same computers we had no problem. It was the previous version of After Effects, fwiw.
While i'm relieved to see that it could work on the instructor's computer, i'd like to know if there's anything that can be done to make the iMacs work too. are there settings i should be looking at in Preferences perhaps?
    Thanks much.

  • Problem rendering a combo box in the data grid

    Hi,
I am rendering a combo box in the data grid control using an
item renderer. When I click on it to select a value from the drop
down, the combo box immediately closes giving no time to even click
on the dropdown. This doesn’t happen every time the combo is
clicked, although it happens frequently. What I think is that the
problem arises because the data grid tries to refresh the renderers
and during this process, the existing combo is removed, thereby
getting closed automatically. Please let me know of a work around.
    Thanks,
    Cheree

    hi hiwa,
i have to add combo box in datagrid dynamically.
it should append as and when i add the data in the above text boxes.
    thanks in advance.

  • Resolution problems - rendering?

I'm using iMovie to cut a project. The titling and photos and I think videos are coming out really poor in terms of resolution. In the Preview when I choose which style of title, the resolution is crisp. Then I drag it in to the time line, it plays back really poorly (therefor don't think it's screen resolution).
I firewired an iMovie project from a coworker that has a new MacBook directly on to my computer. It was fine on his, then on mine, again, the resolution was horrible.
I'm not sure if a rendering setting is set to something because my last couple computers have all had poor resolution when it comes to iMovie projects. Can anyone give advice?
I just bought this computer MacBook Pro last week.

Since apparently my pictures seem to have disappeared:
    zoom_400.jpeg:
    zoom_600.jpeg:
So I assume it is an Acrobat problem then. Still strange though that is also appeared in the RIP (does Acrobat use the same PDF library or engine as the APPE to render PDF's)?
    Thanks for the feedback BTW!

  • Problems rendering raw with Olympus OM-D

I love Aperture. Have been using it for years. However, I just had problems with raw files shot with my Olympus OM-D.
I recently went on a National Geographic Expedition in New York taught by Joe McNally. Fantastic experience.
The outdoor raw OM-D shots were rendered ok. The inside photos were a disaster. The camera jpg's were fine. The Lightroom conversions were better than the jpgs. But Aperture and Preview had a strong magenta cast that I could not correct for. I took them to the local Apple store and their Aperture expert had no explanation or suggestions. Any ideas?

  • Some Problems Rendering With Maya

Hi there! I had submitted a Maya job with my Qmaster and it worked fine with my sime animation sequence and putting up basic materials. What seems to be the problem?

Hi there! I had submitted a Maya job with my Qmaster

Qmaster renders the animation sequence but it only

What seems to be the problem?
    Hi,
I haven't used qmaster, but i have extensive experience network rendering with maya, so here goes.
Most likely, your problem is that you are rendering across multiple machines, but the volume names are different. Your file paths must match exactly. For example, on my pc's, all of them have a y: drive. Whenever I need to network render a project, I will just use the y drive and make an exact copy of the directory on each computer. this is also the same format that the renderfarm I use. Unless you have a SAN, you will need to do something similar to this on the mac.
If you poke around, you should be able to find a log file that will show you that textures could'nt be found (missing), and in that case, the renderer render's black.
I am interested in qMaster since I have switched my studio over to mac's and need a good network renderer. If you can post your experience when you get a chance i would like to know how it works for you.

When I add a Motion template onto my timeline and edit it, it shows up fine on the canvas until I render it...then nothing, the lower 3rd or whatever I put in there just disappears from the rendered video. It is still on the timeline, but only shows up on the canvas when unrendered. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi,
My problem is verrrrry similar to yours:
When I add a Motion template onto my timeline and edit it, it shows and plays fine on the canvas -UNTIL- I render it...then it look like interlaced noise?

  • Problems with Chapters in iDVD 5!

Hey, I'm trying to fix a problem I'm having... I'm burning a DVD with a few different videos on them added in a certain order. When playing back on a DVD player, if I press the 'Next Chapter' button, it just skips through them randomly... not in the order they are listed in (which is also the order I have added them files into iDVD!)
Inserting the DVD back into my Mac, I noticed in the 'Go' menu of the DVD player, that each video is created within a new 'Title', not 'Chapter', so the disc has 5 titles but only 1 chapter.... is there any way I can make 1 title but each video a different chapter so I can skip through them in order?
    Thanks!
    Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hello Daniel,
if you import single movies into iDVD, they will all show up on the main menu as separate items (with 1 chapter each) and in order to play them, you'll have to select each one separately.
If you want the movies to appear as chapters, you'll have to combine them into one movie (e.g. in iMovie), then set chapter markers. Now import that movie into a new iDVD project.
    Important:
    Rules of Chapter Markers
    - No chapter markers on or within 2 seconds of a transition.
    - No chapter markers within 2 seconds of the beginning or the end of the movie.
    hope this helps
