Problem renting/buying on Apple TV

I live in Istanbul but have an US Apple ID and was able to rent/buy movies up until last week. I am able to preview any movie in Itunes on Apple TV. I am also able to press the "rent" or "buy" icon, which then transferes me to the next screen where it asks me again whether I agree to rent/buy this move, but when I click the "ok" icon, it tells me that there is problem??
What I have done and checked-
My internet connection is WFF (working fine and fast!!)
I rebooted Apple TV
I re-configured my internet connection to Apple TV
There is not a balance problem on my credit card
I have not tried to login via my laptop to Itunes to see whether I can rent/buy from there, as that is of no interest to me.
WHAT IS WRONG!!!

Problem renting movies with Apple TV

Having a problem renting movies using Apple TV with Comcast cable and Netgear gigabit wireless router. After selecting a movie to rent and clicking "rent" a message appears: "Accessing iTunes Store", after some delay a second message appears stating an inability to connect to iTunes store, try again later. This issue is intermittent. At any given time a movie can be rented and streamed, but more than 50% of the time, the rental fails.

We're not really sure as yet - there certainly seem to be no comments on subtitling as a feature.

Problems renting movie in Apple TV

I rented a movie in Apple TV, it shows up as 100% downloaded and that it expires in 23 hours, but it just shows up as white screen when I try to play it.
I've heard that you can't navigate away after hitting download, and that I might need to re-download it. Will I get charged a second time, though?

I had exactly the same problem a few days ago. I had to go into the settings and choose to reset all settings. Worked fine for me after that.

you have a different issue then, sounds like your appletv cannot get access to the internet.

there's no point emailing apple, as the issue is most likely internal to your network and not a fault with the appletv.
Does upgrading to snow leopard help?
that would have no affect on the appletv being able to access the internet.

Are you buying from the correct Print Products Store? If you are using the wrong store, your AppleID may not be valid.
Is the Print Products Store set correctly in iPhoto Preferences > Advanced? It should be set to the same country as your billing address and delivery address, and match the settings of the Apple ID you are using.
And you are using iPhoto '09 or '11, right? you can no longer buy books from earlier versions.
When you reenter your settings as LarryHN described, don't forget to enable Express Checkout. It is required.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

If you make an appointment at the Genius Bar about a problem, they will check and evaluate the device, and if it warrants a replacement under warranty, they make the final determination. We are users here. This is a user to user support forum. We cannot determine what Apple will do. I can tell you what I already did, the warranty follows the device.

Problems watching rented movies from Apple TV.

I'm having trouble watching a rented movie on Apple TV. The movie loads, but when I play the movie it gets "hung" and wont play. I've upgraded to the latest update and have tried re-starting Apple TV with no luck.

From that page you will be asked to fill in various info. Very painless but you have to fill in the blanks.

My atv says my password/username is incorrect when I try to login to anything. I know both my username and password are very correct for they work on my mac, iPhone and iPad but whenever I try to rent/buy something on my Apple TV or connect to Homesharing or my iTunes it says something is incorrect and I must change my password. I have checked and double-checked that I am not making a spelling or upper/lower-case mistake. My network works because I can browse/search movies and TV shows and I can watch previews but once I try to download something the same problem appears.

Thanks...was having the same problem and gave resetting the Apple TV a shot...already just resetting let me get on my home network, when before, I was unable to get on and had to use my Verizon MiFi.
It is now working...thank you!!!
