Hey guys - I just updated my Macbook HD to a SSD and when I re-open any numbers docs they are illegible, totally white and impossible to edit by colour. Yet when I do q quick preview (press 'space' over document in finder) they look normal and I can export them as normal-looking PDFs. Any ideas? I'm in the middle of my taxes!

it's simply known and accepted that 7200rpm drives generally are louder and present more vibration than the slower spinning drives.
plus you have 250GB more weight inside that drive spinning around when going from a 250GB to a 500GB drive. more weight spinning will create more vibration.
geez, do ya think you get gigglebytes out of thin air or something? those suckers are heavy.
kidding aside, 7200rpm drives will generally be louder and vibrate more.

why can't I open my numbers docs after upgrade to 3.0? I have downloaded Maverick. I had the same problem with Pages at first. Is there any way to get my spreadsheets back? I'm nervous about upgrades anymore.

If you recently updated to Mavericks and updated the Numbers to 3.0 then it is likely you are trying to open a Numbers 3.0 file with Numbers 2.3.

Be sure you are careful about which version you are launching and using to open files. If you want to be able to open a file in Numbers 2.3 then you should continue using Numbers 2.3 (which is located in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09")
If you already opened a Numbers file in 3.0 and saved if but want to open in 2.3 you can export from Numbers 3.0 by using the menu item "File > Export To > Numbers '09..."

How to open a Numbers doc after message "The document (name) could not be opened." is received?

I opened an Excel file with multiple worksheets by doubleclicking on it, saved it as a Numbers file and made lots of changes to it. Now I can't open it at all. All I get is the message "The document (name) could not be opened."
Any ideas?

It seems that your doc is corrupted.
Try to rename it from ********.numbers to ********.numbers.zip
then double click it
You will get a new ********.numbers file with the structure 'package'.
Try to open it by double-click.
Sometimes it works.

Problem opening Google docs after upgrade to Safari 7.1

I was using these spreadsheets and documents just fine until the last upgrade to 7.1
Now the pages start to load and then flash on and off, will not hold on the screen and finally display an error message: "A problem repeatedly occurred with __docname___" The only option given is to "Reload Page" which results in the same error message.
How can I get back into working with these Google docs?

Why do old numbers show after being changed

After changing a contacts number, I go to message them and both the old and new number show up. Its really confusing and I have to open my contacts and go to their info to see which number is theirs. How do I delete the old number?

Recovering a Numbers doc after computer crashed

I was working in a numbers spreadsheet when my computer crashed. Although I have time machine, I could not locate this file. I hadn't yet named it/saved it, but had been working in it for 1/2 hour or more and thought it was saving every 10 minutes or so the way excel does. Nothing else was lost. My backup seemed to have everything but that single numbers file.
Is there another way to recover an unnamed numbers file?

I understood what happened. No one is ever happy about losing their work. A lost half hour isn't all that bad in the whole scheme of things. My typical strategy is to save often when doing tedious work (such as data entry or careful arranging of objects on a sheet) but otherwise I usually go past a half hour before saving. I also do not back up hourly or even daily but I often use several computers in the course of my work so I have recent versions of my files on several systems (includin a flash drive). I suppose a crash would cost me a day's work.

I found a fix. I opened up the document (either Page or Numbers) in Preview. Then under Edit I hit Select All and then Copy. Then I opened up Page or Numbers and opened a blank document. Then under Edit I hit Paste and Match Style. Then Save Document under new name.

After i changed this setting: autologin. into login with password i restarted the computer.
it started up with a blank personal surrounding. also my .pages and .numbers documents were gone, personal settings gone, iphoto won't open and office programs wo'nt open.
in finder i can find several .doc documents and i can see that all my pictures are still on the system, But i can't open them.
i was so stupid not to use time machine. But is there way to recover the system with my documents or something??

Nope, without any backup they're probably gone for good. If you want you can purchase some data recovery software such as Data Rescue. I hope this may be a lesson why it's critical to backup your system, Time Machine is a good place to start.

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

Problem with Push Notifications after change from 3GS to 4S

After I changed from my 3GS to my 4S I have a Problem with the Push Notifications.
I only receive them on my old device, not on my new 4S.
They both have different Phone Numbers, and i set the 4S up with a Backup from the 3GS.
How can I fix this problem?

I have the same phone, and have just had it replaced with an identical model and am having the same issue. I am going to go through Apple Care again and see what seems to be the problem. I never had any push issues with my 3G, except at the initial launch.

After successful install, all my adobe cc docs, when open, change pointer arrow, i-beam and window to oversize. When doc closes all return to normal size. I'm on a PC. Screen res set to medium 1920x1200. Any ideas how to fix?

I have searched the internet to see if there is a solution, and I found a few but unfortunately none have worked. I desperately need these apps as my iPad is used for school.
