Problem resizing PS CS6 window in Mountain Lion
I recently migrated my data and software from a 27" iMac to a new 13" MacBook Air. I found that my CS6 window is sized beyond the boundaries of the 13" screen. I was able to drag the window sideways far enough to pull the right side within the 13" destop, but the bottom of the window is still below the bottom of my desktop and I cannot grab it or grab the corner to pull it up.
I imagine that resetting CS6 to original defaults would fix the problem, but I have lots of saved actions and other settings that I do not want to loose.
Any ideas?

Clicking the green button in the upper left part of the CS6 app frame and/or doucument window…
Thank you for at least selecting an icon with a plus sign in it. I'm often baffled by advice referencing just a green, red or amber/yellow button, as I haven't seen one of those obnoxious color candy buttons in years, since I use the Graphite look on my Mac. I know many other folks do too.
I can't begin to understand how some other users go for the so-called "Blue" appearance that generates the colored buttons. I find them very distracting in Photoshop and feel they interfere with my perception of color in my images.
My point is just to politely and respectfully request that posters helping others refer to the buttons either by position or function rather than color, so one can immediately know which of the three buttons is meant.

Command key activates wrong window in Mountain Lion
I've got some strange bug on my computer that has stumped every genius in the three Apple Stores I've been to--they even took it to the back to ask all the Genius' in the store, so it seems to be a nasty bug. so I figured maybe you all could help me out.
The issue is this: After I upgraded to Mountain Lion (from Snow Leopard) when I use my "command" key, it randomly activates a window other than the one in focus (on top) of the other windows. So, for example, if I'm in Safari and try to copy something (Cmd+C) but I also have Word open, it will switch to Word and copy whatever is in Word. It does this with all programs (even with Finder!), no matter what the Command function I'm trying to use. If I close the program, the strange behavior will stop for a short time and then come back with another program. When Cmd activates Finder, I have to relaunch Finder and that temporarily alleviates the problem. It does this odd behavior with an external keyboard (and the on-screen keyboard), meaning that it's a software, not hardware error.
I have taken the following actions to fix the problem:
- Reset PRAM (no change to problem)
- Using Disk Utility to repair permissions and verify disk (no change to problem)
- Created a new user on the computer (problem re-appeared after importing my backup files using MigrationAssistant)
- Created a new user on the computer and imported files without importing "Settings" but problem reappeared
- Reinstalled Mountain Lion (problem appeared after importing my backup files using MigrationAssistant)
The last Genius thought the error was due to an application corrupting some system-wide file in Mountain Lion, so we wiped my hard drive, reinstalled files, and imported my documents but not my apps. I manually installed one app at a time and had no issues for 3 months or so.
The problem "randomly" came back last week. Looking at apps that were installed recently, it shows:
- Flux (update - but Flux was on my computer for 3 months with no issues)
- Quicksand (update - but Quicksand was NOT on my computer last year when the problem started)
- VLC Media Player (this WAS on my computer last year but was NOT on my computer in the 3 months with no issue).
Thus, it seems that the culprit app was VLC. I've deleted it (using AppTrap to clear system files), but the problem still exists.
So, three questions:
1) Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, how to prevent it, or whether it might start again even if I wipe and reinstall everything?
2) I'd like to fix the problem without wiping my computer and doing a clean install of everything. Any ideas of how I could avoid doing that?
3) If I have to sacrifice VLC to solve the problem, fine, but I'd prefer not to. Any ideas as to how I could use it still?
TLDR: Command key activates wrong window in Mountain Lion; confirmed software issue; reinstall worked fine until installed VLC Media Player and problem returned; how do I fix it?

GPU in after effects cs6 on mac mountain lion with Intel HD 4000
Is its possible to enable GPU in after effects cs6 on mac mountain lion with Intel HD 4000?
No, OpenGL Swap Buffer support (Level 1) support for the HP4000 is for Windows only. Level 2 and 3 support is not available either. You'd need a more powerful NVIDIA card for Level 1, 2, and 3 feature support.

InDesign CS6 crashing in Mountain Lion
I have Indesign CS6 running on Mountain Lion 10.8.2, on the new iMac 27" and have had repeated problems that have cost me a full days work.
At first it crashed when I created new pages. I thought the doc was corrupt but then similiar issues happened in other docs, not so much crashing but freezing with the rainbow of death/application not responding.
I restarted preferences and even reinstalled CS6. The online adobe helper said to reinstall all of my CS6 files- which didn't make sense to me, if the problem is only InDesign.
Below is my pastebin.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
http://pastebin.com/ywErk1iLokay- so I went through page by page pasting copy/photos from bad doc to a new doc. Once I pasted I would save the new doc, then add a new page. Low and behold some text on page 5 pasted over caused the same hang problem in the new doc. I deleted this text from the both docs and then I was able to add pages again to both docs. So far so good- I was even able to export to the .idml doc no problem. How could some paragraph text I wrote myself cause so many problems?
I still have another doc that crashes when I open it. It's an older doc that worked fine before.
here's the pastebin
http://pastebin.com/uuaRsvs8
Again, I've gone through 2 uninstall-reinstall, cleared preferences, recovery folders- followed all suggestions and really appreciate all of your help! Adobe put me on a 2 hour hold then forgot about me yesterday. Should I reinstall mountain lion? -

How do I shut down from the login window in mountain lion using the keyboard
how do I shut down/sleep/restart from the login window in mountain lion using the keyboard?
Hi Thomas, thanks for your reply.
Yes in standard start-up as it is and in recovery mode I still get the same message about Disk Utility being unable to repair the disk so I should back-up and restore.
Some posters have said that booting into safe mode should unmount the installer and allow rebooting back into Lion, that would allow me to back-up the files properly, as my last back up was (as is often the way) not too recent.
But I think your suggestion looks more likely to be he correct way to do it, and I'll take the hit on any data that I may lose.
Thanks again. -
Is anyone else experiencing frequent blackout problems on an external monitor in Mountain Lion? I called Apple Support and got a temporary fix by removing preferences, but frequent --several second-- blackouts are back. Will an HDMI cable alleviate this?
I have been experiencing this, but with Lion, not Mountain Lion. It is driving me nuts!
I am using LG L246WP monitor via HDMI to DVI on MacPro1,1. I have tried changing cables, even tried VGA to DVI (no blackouts with VGA, but not sure I can trust that, because there is no set pattern of when it will blackout!).
I did try another monitor for most of a day - no blackouts/flickers, and as soon as I hooked up my original monitor, I got blackouts, which led me to believe it is the monitor.
I have searched and read several forums on blackouts, each with different configurations, so at this point I am not sure what it is. I even replaced my Graphics/Video card, because someone on Apple forum said most likely that was the culprit, but still having same problem (even as I type this!).
It is like something is intermittently interfering with signal??? -
Will i have big problems if i go back to Mountain Lion after having upgraded to Mavericks?
Will i have big problems if i go back to Mountain Lion after having upgraded to Mavericks? I also updated iphoto, pages ,numbers etc
According to the App Store, Pages compatibility is v10.9 or later.
Same for iPhoto and Numbers.
Those apps will not run on v10.8 Mountain Lion. -
I know this is a redundent thread, but I really need some help here.Since upgrading to mountain lion, Indesign, Illustrator and dreamweaver have all started crashing on launch. Specifically when trying to restore a previous session/document. I have tried deleteing preference, and re-installing and noting works for more than a few minutes. This is wrecking havoc with my workload! HELP!!!
To be fair, Bob, I had done a lot of reading to ensure the apps I would work properly, among them were multiple reassuarnces from various Adobe blogs that no known issues existed with CS6 and Mountain Lion. I also did not upgrade right away. I waited three weeks to see if there were any big problems which would surely have surfaced in any of the various tech blogs that I read on a regular basis. Perhaps it would have been more prudent to have waited three months, but it's not like I dove in head first before checking to see if there was no water in the pool.
I'm doing my best to troubleshoot this problem, and am reporting my findings to try and help others who are also searching for solutions. I'm in agreement with many others here in thinking that doing a clean install is not a good solution. In fact doing a reformat and reinstall is a rather inelegant way of having to solve computer issues. It's like using a hammer to kill a fly. I would say the same for Windows issues -- it's very rare that you actually need to de a full reformat to solve Windows problems as well -- it's a lazy way of approaching it, and even if the problem is solved, you'll never know what was wrong, nor how to help others fix the issue. As many here have reported, doing a clean install didn't help everyone, so clearly it's not the right fix. There is somethign very specific going on that needs to be patched. By sharing all of the things we're trying we'll eventually find a pattern. For example, why is it that the apps seem to work fine after you create a new user? Why, in my case, does a permissions repair fix the problem temporarily? I'd bet that both of those are linked and do a fair job of pointing us in the right direction..
Of course I could always revert back to a backup before Mountain Lion was installed, but on the whole, my computing experience has gotten better with Mountain Lion. There were lots of problems I had previously in Lion that are now fixed. And many new features are welcome -- Notification Centre anyone?
So we're not "complaining" as you put it, we're trying to solve a problem that a growing number of us are experiencing. Somebody has to be first to upgrade, otherwise it would just take longer for problems like this to arise, and even longer for them to be resolved. -
Indesign CS5.5 / CS6 crash under Mountain Lion DP4
Hi all
I've a "developer mac" at my office, where we're testing Mountain Lion. On this computer we also have two Adobe installations (CS5.5 and CS6). Until the last OS update, all Adobe applications seem to run without any problem worthy of note.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion DP4, both versions of Indesign have started to have a very annoying problem.
Package creation and deletion of a page crash the program.
It seems the crash is caused by the warning dialog that Indesign would be opened before any of the operations described above (the classic window with the warning sign).
This is the crash log (only the interesting part):

You do realize of course this could easily be an Apple bug.
Try the Apple Developer forums.
Bob
I think Apple has deprecated some OS functions that ID still want to use.
IMHO many of similar problems will disappear definitively when InDesign will be rewritten completely in Cocoa...
It seems that InDesign is the only application that has not implemented the changes made on Photoshop and Illustrator, like a more modern UI and 64bit code...
However I'll try to ask this in the ADC forum. -
Dragging windows in Mountain Lion apps
I have found that document windows in Preview and TextEdit in Mountain Lion cannot be dragged around if a dialog sheet is open. I haven't tested every Mountain Lion app. Terminal does not have this problem, nor do iTunes or Safari.
So when I go to save, and I expand the save sheet to column view, and the columns extend off the screen, I can't move the document window. This can leave columns and buttons permanently offscreen.
My current workaround is:
- Escape key to cancle the save/open.
- Move the window.
- Retry the save or open and see if the offscreen control or display is now onscreen.
iMac7,1 running 10.8.2.
I also spent a good 15-20 minutes looking for a bug report page instead of using the community discussions to report this.http://bugreport.apple.com/
I wouldn't report it as a bug quite yet, though. Personally, I can't reproduce the issue as you describe it, not in Preview nor in TextEdit. In both cases, when the sheet opens and I choose to expand the window (using the arrow in the top-right; you call it Column view) the sheet expands and, if a side would move off the screen, pushes the whole window further into the display so that the whole sheet appears.
But it sounds odd that your sheets are so broad as to move off the side of the display anyway—have you thought about just resizing them so that they aren't so broad? It's just like resizing any other window. -
Printing problem: epson R2880 , CS5 + 6, OS Mountain Lion
Hi There,
First of all apologies if this is in the wrong thread, If so, could an admin please move it to a correct one?
I have searched google and these forums for an asnwer but am still having the same problem.
Since upgrading to Mountain Lion (from Snow leopard) my prints are not coming out well at all, it's mostly the reds which ae not vibrant at all, and coming out very orange.
I have tried numurous variations of settings:
photoshops manages colors, printer manages colors, relative, perceptual, made sure printer maanages colors is off, different paper types etc.
*I took screen shots of every setting to match to the prints so can post if neccesarry
I have also tried printing from Preview and LR 4, still having the same problem.
I even tried printing on a different machine with Snow Leopard installed (but was foreced to update to the latest Epson driver (9.0.2).
Does anyone have any idea where the problem could be?
I've been trying to print my portfolio for an important meeting and this has taken up about a full day of trial/error tests.
OS: Mountain Lion
Printer: epson R2880 (Px 5600 in Japan) Driver (9.0.2)
Paper: epson Photo crispia / Superfine Matte (making sure to switch out the matte blak and photo black cartridges eveytime)
SW: CS5, CS6, LR 4
Thanks in advance,
JakeApologies for the legth of this post but it needs it.
For 3 years I have struggled to get a B&W print without a magenta colour cast.
My old printer, an Epson 1400, only had 1 black so I thought this was to blame and bought a new Epson R2880 with 3 blacks earlier this year..
My setup is
CS5
Fotospeed paper
Fotospeed Crystal dye inks
Profiles for each paper.
A calibrated screen
Windows 7
All drivers etc are up to date.
Because it was originally loaded with Epson inks, I used the Advanced B&W (ABW) setting to print B&W photos, which were actually very good considering I wasn't using Epson paper. When the Epson ink ran out, I changed to Fotospeed Crystal dye inks with profiles.
I have successfully printed colour photos with the new setup for a couple of months.
Yesterday I had a batch of photos to print so I set the system up to Photoshop Manages Colour etc (PMC). ( I know what I am doing here)
The first, a colour print, printed OK.
Because the second was a B&W, I did a test print using ABW and then a test print using PMC. The ABW had a magenta colour cast, the PMC printed B&W so I printed actual size with PMC and it worked great.
The third photo, another B&W, I again used PMC and did a small test print - it printed magenta. This was only minutes after printing photo 2.
I did the usual messing around with perceptual and relative col. and quality and max. quality setting, PSD v Tiff etc. and everything came out magenta.
Shutdown PC and went to bed. Printer remained switched on to save on ink cleaning routines.
Today.
Booted up PC.
Did a small test print using PMC and it came out B&W - no colour cast. ??????
Printed full size and it came out B&W no colour cast. On checking the print I noticed some blown highlights so went back into CS5 and did some adjustments to recover the highlights.
Tried a small test print with PMC and it printed magenta. Again, only minutes between the two prints and it goes from B&W to magenta.
Closed everything down and did a PC restart. Tried again with PMC and still magenta.
Several magenta attempts later and I nearly gave up the will to live.
Had a brainwave - I have Canon Digital Photo Professional on my machine as I use Canon cameras so I tried to directly print from the Canon software.
If this printed B&W then it would indicate a problem between CS5 and Epson. If it didn't work then it would absolve CS5
The software allows you to select paper profiles etc in a similar way to CS5 and I also set up the Epson software as no colour adjustment (just like when you use CS5)
Tried a test print and it printed B&W.
Went straight away into CS5 and printed the same test photo using PMC and it printed magenta.
Went straight back to the Canon software and printed a full size print and it printed B&W.
Can someone from Adobe please explain why
CS5 and the Canon software must be using the same print driver yet one of them is successful and the other isn't?
Why, when using CS5 to manage colours, two prints, two minutes apart can change from B&W to magenta?
It suggests to me that the CS5 software is not handling the Epson driver correctly (or vice versa) and double profiling is occuring. In any event users of these products should rightly expect one of you to pick up the ball and run with it and not just blame each other.
So my third question is - will Adobe run with the ball? -
I have a 2008 iMac 21.5" using 10.6.8 Snow Leopard with VM Ware 4.1.3 supporting Windows 7. Initially ML OSX refused to install due to Back up on HD which I removed to trash. It then proceeded but froze up in the initial stages with 33 mins remaining. I was lucky enough to quit and restart using 10.6.8. With all the problems on this chat line, it appears it may be best to leave Mountain Lion well alone, and cut losses rather than tempt fate.Has anybody anything positive to say or help with?

I have a problem with a snow leopard to mountain lion upgrade. Any suggestions?
I have a late 2007 I-Mac currently running snow leopard. My computer meets the requirements for RAM, available disk space, etc. to upgrade to Mountain Lion. I also have a new Mac Book Pro that I just updated the Mountain Lion software on. I have followed the steps outlined by Apple as follows.
To install OS X Lion or Mountain Lion on another Mac, open the Mac App Store, sign in to your account, and re-download the OS by selecting it in the Purchases list. Follow these steps:
Download Lion or Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store on one of your personal authorized Macs. The download is approximately 4 GB in size.
Install the OS.
Log in to another computer that you wish to install it on.
Open the Mac App Store. Enter your Apple ID and password that was used to download either Lion or Mountain Lion on the first computer.
Click the Purchased icon, then click the download link for the appropriate OS.
The problem I continue to have is that the program will act like it's going to download and will say it's downloading then after approximately 10 minutes the App Store no longer says the program is downloading and I again get the green box to "install app".
I have made sure to update my software and I have the latest updates 10.6.8 for snow leopard. I have also disabled the anti virus program. Any suggestions??If you are willing to experiment:
Unfortunately, the link for getting specific hardware versions has disappeared. So basically:
1. Get yourself a spare hard drive freshly erased or with a freshly erased partition of
around 8 GBs or more.
2. Boot to your Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion from the main menu.
3. From the beginning screen select your spare partition/drive as the target
destination then begin the download.
4. At the end of the download you will observe an Install button for you to click.
Now this is important - as soon as that gadget appears you must abort the
installation process. There are only two reliable ways to do this quickly: (a.) yank
the cable for the drive from the computer; (b.) pull the power on the computer -
shut it down quickly.
This will result in your finding a folder on the drive that contains InstallESD.dmg that you can now use to create a bootable USB flash drive installer based on the special build for your model. Use it until the next public release of Lion appears or you move on to Mountain Lion.
If you do not stop the download process immediately upon its completion you will end up with an installer that always boots to a non-functioning installation progress window instead of the normal main menu.
Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
installing.
2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
the process has completed.
d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
drive size.
3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
b. Open Disk Utility.
c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process. -
Photoshop CS6 crashing in Mountain Lion because of fonts
Hello,
Photoshop CS6 keeps on crashing for me when I open a file with text in it. It works fine when creating the text, but as soon as I close the PSD and open it again it crashes on loading the file. If I rasterise the text from another computer and open it it works fine.
I tried deactivating all the non-system fonts, I read that there are some fonts that cause problems and so I deleted those.
Anyone have an answer for this? It seemed to be working fine since Mountain Lion came out, it's only been acting up for the past month or so, don't remember there being an update for either Photoshop or Mountain Lion around that time.
Really need an answer soon as it's adding a lot of time to even the simplest of jobs.

0x7fff8dc0b000 -A few things to keep in mind:
FontAgent Pro (FAP) is an excellent font manager that is very, very good at ferreting out problem fonts, including some that Font Book and Font Doctor often miss. They have a fully functional 30-day trial version.
Beside fonts themselves, font caches are prone to get corrupted. I clean them out routinely with Cocktail. Onyx is a similar utility that is free. Font Finagler is free and only does font cache cleaning.
Many users have problems with FontExplorer, which you have installed and running, according to the crash report.
4 GB is not enough RAM for CS6 running under Mountain Poop. Many of us consider 8 GB to be the bare minimum, 16 GB or more is very desirable.
The 256 MB of VRAM on your graphics card is not enough. The minimum system requirements recommend 512 MB, and many run cards with one or 2 GB of VRAM.
Mountain Poop has not received a single update. Apple doesn't get a major new release right until the dot six release. Lion didn't get past 10.7.4, which explains its many deficiencies. Mountain Poop is at 10.8.0 at this time.
God luck.
