Problem resizing UI text in Photoshop CC

I cannot resize UI fonts in Photoshop CC (icons, menu headings etc) - or rather I succeeded in resizing them once, moving from tiny to medium, and since then cannot change. I am using a 27 inch iMac running Windows 8.1. Altering settings in Windows does not solve the problem. Nor does forcing Photoshop to rebuild the preferences file under the roaming directory
Menu subheads appear smaller than the main navigation
Has anyone else experienced this bug? There seem to be many issues surrounding Photoshop CC UI display
UPDATE
A second resizing has now occurred, back to tiny. Subheads in menus remain unchanged - now significantly bigger than the Menu heads

Thank you for replying
I did restart, yes, many many times. And the change to a much larger font (and back again) happened without warning in the midst of these restarts. Almost certainly there is a  bug of some kind because the software behavior was not predictable.
I tried the experimental setting after reading your message and found that it moved me back and forth between the medium and tiny fonts already seen (at least I assume that is what they were - one is too big the other too small). It is not a sophisticated tool. I need something between the two. Is there a way of setting it in some intermediate scale (call it 'small'), or is there no solution within Photoshop?
I did not have this problem on my old iMac. The only change between the two machines is that the new one is retina display.

  • Problems with text on Photoshop CC

    I have Window 8 64bit with the latest Intel HD Graphics driver. When I type text in Photoshop CC the whole image goes black. What can I do?

    First, try turning off hardware acceleration - under "Performance" in the preferences uncheck "Use Graphics Processor".
    If that helps, you have found the culprit: the Intel HD chipset.
    Since you mention you do have the latest drivers, it might not be a driver problem. You may have to increase the amount of ram that is set aside for the Graphics in your BIOS.
    However, Intel HD graphics are notoriously bad for OpenGL applications, and Photoshop does use OpenGL when you turn on that option in the performance tab.

  • Problems writing text on Photoshop CC

    I am having problems writing text on Photoshop CC - the image goes black.

    Windows 8?  Update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website. If you cannot update your driver (like on a locked laptop machine), then set the GPU drawing mode in Photoshop to "Basic" and relaunch the app.

  • Having a problem moving a text document from Photoshop to Illustrator.. Won't let me edit the text

    Hi there,
    I'm a complete technophobe so the answer to this could be quite obvious. I had to create a text using photoshop because of the inside of the text... i.e using a lobster font and it was pink glitter inside it so to give a girly effect.. It's for a college asignment.
    I have to use illustrator CS6 to put that text on a b/ground I already made in Illustrator but the .psd doc won't let me edit it in illustrator, it's almost like a PDF. Help!
    I hope it's not too confusing to understand, thanks in advance.

    Erica,
    is there a simpler way of explaining that?
    And I feared it was too easy to understand.
    You may, in front of the overall background (which you may lock or hide):
    1) Create a background with the appearance you wish to apply to the letters, such as a solid cpolour, a gradient or other clolour transition, and some pink glitter in front of it, you may Group all this for convenience; and you may use raster artwork (maybe from Photoshop) if you like;
    2) With the Type Tool create the live Type on top of 1), you may move and size it to fit (roughly);
    3) Select 1) and 2) and Object>Clipping Mask>Make; 2) will become the (invisible) Clipping Path showing the parts of 1) that are behind it and hide the rest.
    As mentioned, you may Direct Select 1) or 2) and edit or move them about relative to the background and each other.

  • Is there a way to automatically resize the text box to fit the text inside, without using the selection tool to resize the corners in Illustrator and Photoshop?

    I'm wondering if there is a way where I can quickly resize a text box to fit exactly around the text inside, so pretty much the smallest the text box can go without being too small to fit the text? I know you can do this manually with the selection tool, but is there a button/command that automatically does this in one go?
    Thanks

    Try this script. Save the page as .jsx the the "Presets>Scripts" AI folder. When you restart AI it will appear in the "Scripts" menu. Select the text block and run the script.

  • Problem with images opened in Photoshop CS 5

    Hi, I have a problem with images that I open in Photoshop CS 5. F. ex. I opened
    the following image:
    The image appears with a purple color in Photoshop. If I hover over the image
    with a tool like lasso, it temporarily regains it´s original color. The image mode is RGB Color, 8 Bits/Channel.
    I resetted the start settings of Photoshop with the CTRL-Shift-Alt-combination, which had no effect.

    The confusion arises from the imprecise error message in the Preferences > Performance dialog box, to wit:
    OK, that seems to be open to misunderstanding indeed.
    The video card: Citrix Systems Inc. Display Driver.
    Could not find a list for CS6 specifically, but the card may fall short.

    If I invoke View > Proof Colors, the only thing that changes is that the text in the brackets
    Also if you set View > Proof Setup to something different?
    Boilerplate-text:
    Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

  • Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?

    Why does Preview automatically resize the text box to cut off the last character of added text? How do I fix it?
    I use the Tools > Annotate > Add Text feature, and when I click away after adding text, it automatically changes the text box size such that the last letter -- or last word -- gets bumped off into an invisible line below it, forcing me to manually adjust every single text box. It is highly annoying when trying to complete PDF forms (e.g. job applications).
    It appears to be a glitch, quite honestly, an error resulting from Apple's product design. Has it been fixed in the new operating system (for which they want $30)?
    I would very much appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you for your time.

  • Dynamically resize a text component

    I am trying to build a simple twitter application.  I pull in the feed from twitter and set it to an arrayCollection.  This information is passed to a list component as a dataProvider.  The list contains a itemRenderer that pulls in a custom component for displaying the information I want from Twitter.  Here is the code for the component called Tweet:
    <mx:HBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" width="100%" verticalScrollPolicy="off">
        <mx:Image width="50" height="50" source="{data.link[1].href}" />
         <mx:Text width="100%"  id="twitterText" text="{data.title} {'\n'} {data.author.name} {data.published}" />
    </mx:HBox>
    pretty simple.  The problem is, the text componnent does not resize its height to the amount of text, so my text is cut off.  If i set a static height, I have too much white space on short tweets.  I have tried changing the height with AS3 but can't seem to get it to work.  Any ideas?
    Here is the the list component I am using:
      <mx:Canvas width="100%" height="100%" x="0" y="100" backgroundColor="#FF0000" borderStyle="none">
                <mx:List dataProvider="{ac}" itemRenderer="Tweet" top="58" left="0" right="0" bottom="40" id="theList"></mx:List>
       </mx:Canvas>
    Oh and if it helps,  I am using the same method Lee Brimelow teaches in his 3 beginner Flex tutorials on his site gotoandlearn.com

    I finally figured out the problem.  The problem was not with the text component but rather the list component.  Here is my list component now:
    <mx:List dataProvider="{ac}" itemRenderer="Tweet" id="tweetList" top="0" left="0" right="0" bottom="145" themeColor="#A5A5A5" variableRowHeight="true"></mx:List>
    I ran across the property variableRowHeight.  It defaults to false.  When set to true, each item in the list can be a different size.  The textarea was resizing correctly.

  • Text from Photoshop to iWeb looks terrible

    Hi
    I am creating a website in iWeb and want to use a non web-safe font. I thought I could create the text in Photoshop and then drag it into iWeb as an image. I have Photoshop PS4 and am simply dragging and dropping the text from PS to iWeb. No matter what I do, the text looks terrible in iWeb. I've tried a couple of different things - rasterizing, anti-alias - but it doesn't seem to work. I don't know if this is a problem with iWeb or Photoshop. Anyone have any advice?
    Thanks!
    Melody

    don't know if this is a problem with iWeb or Photoshop.
    Neither.
    Save the image as a tiff, png or eps file.
    Then drag that image on the iWeb canvas.

  • Problems resizing certain jpegs in cs6

    When I resize certain jpegs in Photoshop and then save, the file size remains the same. It has definately been resized because it shows a new file size in PS.
    I've never encountered this before until a couple of weeks back. Has anyone had the same problem.

    See Replace Your Preferences and if that doesn't do it, see Adobe Forums: InDesign crashes at startup for a list of other things to delete from the original account.
    When all else fails, rename the Adobe folders in your user library (remmber, there are TWO folders, anf they're hidden, so see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion) and copy the ones from the guest account.

  • Really bad text quality,photoshop, is it pixel aspect ratio?

    when doing dvd's i often use psd files for menus or title boards, quite often at 16x9, now the problem lies with the quality of the text in photoshop and when transferred to dvdsp. In photoshop with a 1024 x 576 sq pixel canvas the text looks crisp and sharp, however when transferred to dvdsp the text feels like it has gone through a verticle interlace, each letter is chopped up and shifted stretched and compressed. Going back to photoshop and making a 720x 576 comp with a widescreen pixel aspect ratio seems to do the same thing but this time in photoshop aswell. The text quality problem is not the usual dvd compression issue that is frequently discussed on these boards where text looks fuzzy, this looks much worse than fuzzy or jpeggy
    Is there a standard, a combination of aspect ratio and canvas size in both photoshop and dvdsp? It is really frustrating.
    Thanks in advance
    Henry

    My issue is particular to the crossover between photoshop and dvdsp, it may also be particular to pal dvd's and relating to the pixel aspect ratio, if you try and create a 720 x 576 document in photoshop with widescreen aspect ratio turned on and try adding text you will notice the issue. This also crosses over into dvdsp no matter what i do unless the image uses square pixels in p/shop the text is awful. I was really wondering if anyone else had found a combination of setups that avoid this wierd occurance in both programs.
    The issue is not the standard 'my font looks bad on an apple display' issue which is often discussed on this forum, i understand that apple display resolutions are so far superior to standard def tv's that it is impossible to compare. The typesize on these projects are 24pt bold sans serif so well above the 18pt generally accepted standard and the canvas size is pixel perfect for pal resolution no images have been reduced or enlarged. The font looks almost illegible rather than just fuzzy.

  • Premiere Elements 13 , Problems with new text/titles

    Premiere Elements 13, bisher keine Probleme. Nachdem die Filmlänge etwa 15 Minuten beträgt immer größere Probleme Titel/texte einzugeben. Wartezeiten sind extrem lange oder Programm stürzt ganz ab.

    High ATR,
    Computer running on Widows 7 ,64 Bit System, Service Pack 1, Processor AMD Phenom(tm) X4 945 3.00 Ghz;RAM 8 GB
    Grafikkarte: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
    If the video on the timeline is longer than 10 minutes the problem will be remarkable. The response times adding a title is getting longer(2-15 seconds).
    As the video is now 18 minutes the response time is after each action(resizing of letters or any changes of the text) up to 30 seconds or the program crashes completely.
    Project settings are the following:
    General HD 1080i; 29,97frames/second; Video:1920v 1080 H, 30 fps
    Video: maximale Bittiefe, Dateiformat i-frame only mpeg, Kompressor MPRG i-Frame, Standbilder optimieren
    The video is a mixture  of full HD videos 1920x 1080 .mov and pictures up to 4608x3456 pixels.
    When the program crashes I remarked that the main memory RAM(8Gb) was fully used by the premiere program. Might there be a problem?
    Thank you for your service.

  • Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit...

    Problems with importing text messages from PC Suit 7.1.18.0 to my Nokia 5800
     I am trying to import a csv file that contains text messages (Note that this file was created using PC Suit 7.1.18.0) to a subfolder that I have created to My Folders but PC Suits only imports the text messages to the Draft folder. Note that initially it shows that the messages are import in the correct folder but after a refresh it shows them in the Draft Folder. Is their any setting that I should change in the PC Suit or the phone? My computer runs on Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the Nokia 5800 was upgraded to the latest firmware v20.0.012
     Thanks for your help

    Most phones only allows importing of draft and archived box for SMS.
    To do a restoring, you need to backup the SMS as a .nbu file using PC Suite and restore later.
    If you got an SD card, you can also do a backup on the SD Card (backup.arc) then restore later (reset and restore: backup.arc and mmc).
