[Problem] Ringtone volume drops automatically

Hi all,
from 2-3 days I'm experiencing this bug/issue: ringtone volume drops automatically, randomly and without any reason. When it happens, I start a "battle" with iPhone: I increase (with side buttons) and it decrease ringtone volume!
I have already tried to restore and configure it as new one on iTunes, but the crazy thing is that this issue made is first appearance while I was setting language, at the beginning of initial settings!
I have an iPhone 4S 16GB updated with FW 5.1 and I'm becoming worried, because my first phone was replaced with this one for audio issue.

I'm really sorry. I don't know what else to do. I recommend from here you contect Apple. They are great at getting back to there customers really quickly. Here is the link: http://www.apple.com/support/contact/
I hope you are able to find a solution to your problem! :)

  • Volume Drop Problem (changes depending on how held)

The speaker volume on my iPhone changes depending on how it's being held. I surely hope this isn't considered a "feature". Held at a diagonal angle tilted backward, the volume drops considerably. It seems to play normal only when fully flat, or vertical.
Anyone else have this problem also? I'm considering exchanging it for another.

Don't you think it might just be a little useful to know what normally happens? I mean, you do realize that some phones sound silent when you tilt them a mm, while other phones sound almost the same no matter where you hold them. You do get that the difference in volume for the iPhone speakerphone when placed on a solid surface is much more dramatic than the changes in volume most other phones have due to placement, thus it's not something everybody thinks of right away.
Nobody tried to tell you that the sound waves were effected by gravity and the phone would be louder if you held it over your head right?
Read the first post again and think about it; 'speaker' refers to any sound emitting device like the 'headset', 'earpiece', or 'speakerphone speaker'...which you might even call the 'speaker speaker' or just 'speaker', regardless of how you define the parts; other people toss around the terms as if they are interchangeable. The post just says speaker.
If you are so bright then why are you asking a question at all? You know that if you move your body and the phone at the same time the volume shouldn't change. I mean..sure gravity does make the soundwaves drop quicker and all that so when you walk up an angled driveway the phone needs to adjust the volume, but that's only a little bit...not 'considerably' right?
Let's think for a second (or less for some of us). First, 'I was concerned some engineer mightve mistakenly thought of this as some cockamami "feature"'. Know what? It's a good idea. I wouldn't half mind a phone that could adjust the volume when I moved it to or from my ear or body. Seamlessly changing from the EARPIECE to the SPEAKER would be a great thing too. Things like switching from the bluetooth HEADSET to the SPEAKER are nice touches. I think you have an advanced model or a special feature.
It's also a little difficult for people to know how much your phone changes in volume when they can't hear it. It's not like there's a recording or some empirical data like 'hey, when I tilt my phone at a 45 degree angle it drops 20 decibels'.
As to 'reflected acoustics?!?!', I think the post starts with "speaker volume" and continues to 'when fully flat, or vertical'. Fully flat sounds like your phone is sitting on a table, shelf, or the floor and since I don't put my phone on a block then lay down on the floor with my ear above it to make a call I think the description sounds more like the speakerphone portion than the ear 'speaker'. Stating what the SPEAKER should do when normally performing in answer to a question should be considered informative and useful because : If you knew what the speaker was supposed to do you would not have asked.
Yeah, you never know who is using an iPhone or posting in the forums, but it doesn't take very long to read through the posts and find the information you want when you post a clear question in the first place.
I don't consider my phone a derogatory TLA, but if that's what you think of the product then I hope you enjoy your old phone.
Don't let the bass fall on your foot on the way out.

  • IOS 5.1.1 Ringtone volume problem.

I just updated my phone to 5.1.1 from 5.0.1. The max ringtone volume under 5.0.1 was much louder than it is on 5.1.1. What gives?
I have restored just to make sure the update didn't go wrong. Everything works fine except the ringtone volume.

I manually restored the OS but still no progress. Even the lock unlock sound is seems to lower than older OS. Please HELP me.
Does anyone has a fix for it......??
Would jailbreaking this iOS version fix this problem ?? Bz there is a jailbreak out for it...
    HELP meeeee...........
    Thank you,

  • Iphone 6: Ringtone volume increases to max automatically

    Hi everybody,
since a couple of days when i unlock my iphone 6 (iOS 8.1.1) using TouchId, the ringtone volume inceases to maximum automatically (almost eyerytime). A reboot of the phone didn´t show any improvement.
Do you have any idea how to fix this?
    Thank you very much.
    Kind regards
    iOS-Steve

    Hi iOS_Steve,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
If restarting your iPhone didn't resolve this issue where your volume is increasing after unlocking your iPhone, the next step would be to reset the iPhone, and ultimately restore the iPhone back to its factory settings.
To reset your iPhone please follow the instructions below.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
If the issue persists after resetting your iPhone, please back up your iPhone and then restore it back to the factory settings.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Ringtone volume problem

I set my ringtone volume to its loudest setting, however, it keeps going back to about half volume after a while and it's getting a little annoying. Does anybody else have this issue? I don't know why my ringtone won't stay the same volume. thanks

Yep I have this issue as well. Set to loudest ringtone and find it sets to less than 1/4 of the volume not knowing why.
I believe that the volume of other applications (YouTube) changes the overall volume including ringtone. Also accidentially hitting the volume up dopwn controls (side of iPhone) may change it.
I tried to check the Lock Sound option but instead of locking it it turned on the keyboard clicks ????
    Weird.

  • Audio volume drops in FLV file after inserting into Captivate 4

The audio volume drops almost 50% in FLV files inserted into Captivate 4.  Is there a solution for this problem?
    Thank you.

    Hi Sony,
That was the first thing I ever tried when I discovered the default setting for FLV and slide video (variables and advanced actions are my favorites, as you know perhaps). Perhaps I missed something, and did not try in CP 5.5 or after the latest patch on CP5.0, but this system variable seemed only to have effect on the normal audio clips, not on audio for video?

  • Random reset of ringtone volume since update to 2.0

Since updating to 2.0 my ringtone volume level, which I keep on the hightest level, will randomly reset to mid-level, causing me to miss a number of calls. Anyone else notice this and is there a solution?
    Thanks

My 1st gen iphone (16GB) is up to the same antics. Pre 2.0 all was perfect. Then then update... During calls, if you adjust the volume for either the iphone earpiece, speaker phone, or bluetooth headset (I'm using the Plantronics voyager 520, which was purchased at the apple store), the ringer volume gets adjusted as well.
Just go into the sounds option under settings, make a call, and watch in awe as you adjust your call volume and ringer volume at the same time.
I've missed calls b/c the volume resets it self to a lower (random) setting. Now I must check after every call. The best part is if you push up on your volume button while at the home screen (the ringer volume pop up appears) and note that you have it on the highest setting, go ahead and check the sound option under settings. It will be at some random lower level. Oh my phone never did this on 1.4. I do hope the engineers are reading this and release a fix ASAP. The main purpose of the iPhone is to be a phone. Missing calls due to a low ringer volume is crazy.
Oh, I've already restored, don't bother, problem was not resolved. I haven't come across any other problems with the 2.0 update.

  • IPad 4 Volume drops really low a few seconds, then back to normal.

    Hi All,
I am having an issue with the Volume on my iPad 4.  I had one replaced 3 days before the warranty, but The replacement started doing the same thing.  I realized it had to be an app causing it.  I had been playing the RoboCop game for a bit and had just beaten it, so I deleted it.  The trouble never happened again.
Now, it's doing it again and I'm thinking it must be another app causing it, but I can't seem to find it...and, obviously, it's out of warranty.
    Here's what happens:
When I play anything with sound, after about 20 seconds or so, the Volume drops down so low it's almost not even able to be heard.  It does this for about 3 to 5 seconds and then it comes right back to normal.  It won't do it again unless I start a different video, song, app, etc...
I backed up everything to my MacBook Pro, Restored it to New/Default Settings, then Restored from Backup...it did not help.  I also upgraded to the newest Version of iOS 7 when I did that...(Version 7.1.2).
If anyone knows what the problem is or what might fix it, PLEASE Help.  It's driving me crazy!
    Thank you so much,
    Scott

You might want to try restoring as new - without the backup - and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't fix it, you can still restore the backup and you won't lose anything but a little bit of time that you spend restoring again.
Backup again, then restore as new, use the iPad and switch from song to song or from one app with sound to another....whatever you need to do to cause the sound issue again. If the sound issue doesn't come back, then you might assume it's something in the backup that was causing the problem. Start over and rebuild the iPad from scratch.
If the problem does not go away when you restore as new, you can always restore the backup to the iPad again and then take it to an Apple Store and ask them to take a look at it.

  • Phone call volume drops

This has occurred twice so far.  Either at the beginning of an incomming or outgoing call, the ear piece volume drops to almost zero.  Now it just happened in the middle of a call too.  Only rebooting the phone resolves the problem.  I'm wondering if this is something I should confront Apple with.

    Hi,
Just purchased a 4 months old, like new, Lumia 1020.
    Call volume is ridiculous.
I asked some acquaintances who also happen to have 1020 and they confirm the same - they all have problem with call volume being too low. Some of them started using bluetooth headset because Lumia's headset became unusable.
Some of them changed several Lumias under warranty, only for problem to reappear again after some time.
Soft reset, hard reset doesn't help. Signal is excellent. Protective mesh is clean. Blowing it doesn't help either.
Now, since I didn't know that this model has such a huge and elementary problem, I wonder what should I do, except get rid of it and make someone else miserable ?
You've put me in a bad position, Nokia...
    Didn't expect this, very disappointed.

  • Volume Drops When Skipping Song (via Lightning Adapter)

I currently have an aftermarket iPhone connector in my car, to which I have attached a Lightning adapter.  On the road today, whenever I skipped a song (using the button on my car stereo), the volume dropped considerably for the next song.  Only when I used the "fast forward" button did the volume increase back to its normal level.  If I let the playlist go from one song to the next uninterrupted, the volume stayed as is.
Given the sequence of the events, I am assuming it is either the phone or Lightning adapter.  While I did a hard reset, I have not had a chance to test in the car again.  However, I do not experience the same issue with regular headphones.

Yes! Same problem here on two different iPhone 4s (mine and my wife's). If I watch the volume bar on the phones when I skip songs, it doesn't move, but the actual volume output drops to about half. Like the original poster, pause/play seems to fix it... until the next time I switch songs.
SoundCheck is off everywhere (phones and iTunes), so no help there.
Yet another reason to miss my 3GS, I guess...

  • APPLE...PLEASE FIX THIS!!!(Ringtone Volume Bug)

Here's a link to another thread which includes the mentioned bug(ringtone volume lowers by itself from full to half).
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1599434&tstart=255
I have two iPhone 3G and one iPhone 2G and all of them have this bug, no matter if FW 2.0 or 2.0.1.
I already missed several important calls, my wife is a physician and even missed an emergency call from one of her patients, this is a very annoying bug.
    PLEASE FIX IT Thank you!

  • Nokia 2600 low ringtone volume

I've adjusted the ringtone volume as high as I can but it's still very low and I often miss incoming calls. The tone to alert me to an incoming message is good and loud, so the phone is capable of producing a decent ringtone - it just doesn't do it for an incoming phone call. Can anyone help.

It could be that my problem is related to something else that was causing me trouble - that my phone only ever does a very few rings before switching to Voicemail. Maybe it never gets a chance to crank up the volume. Now if you could teach me how to sort that...........
Sorry, but thats really how it works. Few jitters and before it ends. The tone will notch up from minimal up to the maximum. Isn't it inconvenient?

  • Volume increases automatically. Help please.

This problem occurs when I'm using my headphones to listen to music. The volume will automatically increase and it will also randomly stop the music. I just wanted to make sure this isn't a headphone related issue before replacing the headphones. Any help is appreciated.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?  A new iMac will have Yosemite. Confirm.
what system version are you running? Download iPhoto 6 from the App store.  Did you?
what do you mean by "picture keeper"?
have you looked in the Applications folder for an iPhoto application?
is your iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder ?

  • Volume Lowering Automatically

On some, but not all tracks, the music will start at a certain volume, then automatically drop quite a bit.  To listen at the volume I'd like, I have to raise the volume, but then the first few seconds before it automatically drops are really loud.  It happens with the built in speaker, over headphones, and over bluetooth, so it is not specific to how I play the tracks.  This is not new to the latest update; I've been having the issue for a while.  It does not affect the same tracks played on the desktop player, so I know it is not the content of the song.  Is anyone else having the same issue?  Has anyone found a solution?

Have the same issue, happens after some time i didnt use the client.
Typically only on the the first song i play.. after a short time the volume lowers and then after ~10 sec, it increases again to normal.
It happens on all of my playlists. Somewhat like it has to cache something, and then it's ok.
I have also see this in Offline mode on a mobile phone.
    This is anoying as hell.
