Problem rotating rectangle (selecting corners) after creating with rectangle tool in illustrator

I'm using the latest CC version of Illustrator. When I draw a rectangle using the rectangle tool, I no longer seem to be able to select the corners to resize the rectangle nor does the cursor turn to a rotate icon when I put the mouse just outside the corner. I know that Ai CC treats rectangles differently now, with the live rectangles and the rounded corner options, and the transform box opening automatically. What I'm wondering, and hoping isn't the case, is whether this is this at the expense of being able to go right in and resize using the just the mouse? I know that there is the  "Object > Shape > Expand" option, but having to do that for every time I draw a rectangle is time-consuming and adds and extra step that was unnecessary before. I saw a tutorial on Lynda where the instructor drew a live rectangle in CC AND was still able to resize it by grabbing the corner "handle". Anyone know if this is just a setting I need to turn on or something similarly easy, or is it a case of Adobe inadvertently making the workflow longer when trying to make it easier? And yes, I have "show bounding box" selected under VIEW.

MOD indi-go girl,
I am afraid you have come across the Live Rectangle bug which is limited to the MAC versions starting with 10.7 and 10.8, but not 10.9 (Mavericks) or 10.10 (Yosemite). Hopefully, the bug will be fixed soon.
So a switch to Mavericks or Yosemite with a reinstallation might be the way to solve it here and now.
To get round it in each case, it is possible to Expand the Live Rectangles to get normal old fashioned rectangles, or to Pathfinder>Unite, or to use the Scale Tool or the Free Transform Tool.
A more permanent way round that is to create normal old fashioned rectangles, after running the free script created by Pawel, see this thread with download link:

  • Why rotated rectangle tool can't draw rotated ROI on image?

I want to use the tool window to draw a rotated rectangle on image, but each time, it seems only draw a rectangle, it can't rotate. Don't know why?
In Vision Assitant, if I use rotated rectangle tool, it will show like this:
Using the cross lines in rectangle, I can rotate my ROI, it is OK.
    Run the sample code: C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\CVI\samples\Vision\2. Functions\Geometric Matching, change     imaqShowToolWindow (FALSE);
    to  imaqShowToolWindow (TRUE);
on line 93#. Compile then run. Seems I also can't rotate my ROI, don't know why?
    Please show me? Thank you.

    Hi,
You cannot perform action on an overlay. In order to achieve what you want to do, I suggest you to use the ROI property in an image property node. Then just pass your ROI coordinates, the ROI will be updated automatically whenever your coordinates changes. You can drag a ROI this is impossible with an overlay.

  • Paint bucket tool after drawing with brush tool

    Hi,
I am just wondering if there is anyway to paint using the paint bucket tool properly after drawing something using the brush tool. Although I have no gaps anywhere within the outline , there are times where the paint bucket tool doesn't paint.  Another issue I encounter is whenever I try to adjust the shape with the selection tool it either fills a portion of the shape with color and even sometimes makes the shape itself disappear.  Is there a way to only select a small portion of the drawing (like the way it is with pencil tool) as the shapes were done using a couple of strokes instead of just one.

    Hi,
You can use use paint bucket tool to change the color of lines drawn with brush. And to be sure that there are no gaps select the line with subselection tool because visually you cannot make out as the gaps are defined in pixels. Also you can select parts of fill region with selection tool if the painting with brush is done in shape mode not object drawing mode.Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Content created with v18 tools, crashed the v19 Content Viewer

    Hi,
We've been working on a publication using v18 of the DPS tools in InDesign, this works perfectly when viewed with the v18 Adobe Conent Viewer.
Our client has downloaded the Content Viewer to see the work we have done so far, however on viewing certain articles the viewer crashes.
I have installed v19 onto one of our iPads and confirmed that this problem occurs.
I have also created a few test folios, with individual articles and the viewer does not have any problem viewing them, however when I put multiple articles into the same viewer, it starts to crash again.
I've uploaded using both the v18 and v19 versions of the folio builder, and get the same results.
I find it unbelieveable that the Content Viewer does not seem to be backwards compatible with folios created with previous versions of the tools. Is there a way to fix this?
Any insight would be appreciated, my client is getting understandably frustrated.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Can you try to re-bundle the content? (perhaps on v19 tools?)
You could post the source files and crash logs to Adobe to see if they can't patch the issue in the v19 viewer. Even if they did, however, it would require a viewer update.

    Hi there,
No ideas - it works fine for me. Could you post a link to your project file?
And which version of iOS are you running?

  • Workflow created with Authoring tool produces a workflow that doesn't work

    Hi,
I'm getting fed-up with the Authoring Tool. It has such inconsistently bad results.
    Anyway, here's my current problem:
    1. Create a new MP
    2. Create a new Workflow that triggers when an incident is created with no additional criteria
    3. Add a command script to the workflow that runs an exe based on the workflow server
    4. Add two parameters, one of /commit the other of the Id of the incident
    5. Import the MP, copy the resultant assembly DLL to the workflow server
    6. Trigger the workflow, it fails with:

  • Problem entering values in table after creating it in Word using OLE2

    Hi,
I want to create a Word document from a Oracle Forms 6i application. The document will have standard text followed by a table. The cells of this table are to be populated from fields in the Forms application.
I have created a sample code below. When executed from within the Forms application, it creates a document fine. It writes the text "Hello World". It then creates a table as expected. But when I try to enter a value "Cell Value" in the table, the value does not get written to the cell of the table. Instead it writes the value outside the table.
Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong here and what I need to do so that after writing the text on the document I can write values into the table also.

Once again thanks for the help John. Unfortunately I cannot use only bookmarks, because the text to be entered from the application is of undetermined length and therefore since the possibility of wrapping exists, it would not be able to give me the same formatting abilty as using a table.
However, the good news is that I have been able to find the solution. I am posting my code here so that it is available to anyone else who might have the same issue. Thanks again.
Here is my code and my comments in it explain what it does.
    PROCEDURE extract_to_word
    IS
/* First of all I would like to acknowledge the help I have got from experts who have posted a lot of this code on the web which I have used here. Special thanks go to someone by the name of sfvb
    found here http://www.tek-tips.com/userinfo.cfm?member=sfvbsfvb
    This procedure does the following:
    1. Opens a word document.
    2. Creates a header and pastes a picture in the header e.g your company logo with address. Please note that the image should have both the address and the logo in it. It can be created using paint where you can write your address at one end and paste a bmp or jpg picture of your logo at the other end.
    3. Writes text with specified font and size. It calls a separate procedure PRINT_LINE to do this.
    4. Creates a table on the document with specified number of columns with fixed width.
    5. Populates the cells of the table-
first with headers written by calls to WRITE_HEADINGS procedure.
next with data from a block of the Forms application by calls to WRITE_DATA procedure
    6. Comes out of the table and continues to write text.
The three procedures that are repeatedly called are described after the end of this procedure.
Note: While I have made every attempt to ensure that the code does not generate error on account of my writing the explanatory notes, I cannot be sure of having made some typos. If the code does not compile, it is most probably be on account of something I have missed in entering the comments and explanation.

  • Problem to active Elements 11 after crash with my laptop

Yesterday afternoon I had a chat about 2 hours with your technical service / with Mr/Mrs Sanhtosh .
I will sent you a copy about this chat:
Santhosh: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
    Santhosh: Hi Albert.
    Albert Genger: hallo
Santhosh: I understand you are not able to install Adobe Premier Elements 11.0. Is that right ?
    Albert Genger: yes
Santhosh: Thank you for the confirmation.
Santhosh: May I know the exact error message while you try to install the software?
Albert Genger: I try to give the serial number in the product, but it doesn't accept because the programm says - the serial number is not valid for this product -
Santhosh: I am sorry for it.
Albert Genger: yes, I hope you can help
    Santhosh: Are we still connected?
    Albert Genger: i hope
Santhosh: Okay. May I know the software name and version which you see in the title bar ?
Albert Genger: Adobe Premiere Elements 11
Santhosh: Okay. Please re-enter the serial number and try to again.
Albert Genger: I re-enter the serial number but the answer is the same as before - this serial number is not guilty for this produkt
Santhosh: Okay, may I know the language you selected while you try to install the software ?
    Albert Genger: Netherlands
Santhosh: As I checked and see that, the serial number you have purchased is for Dutch.
    Albert Genger: Yes
    Santhosh: Okay.
Santhosh: May I know do you have any other Adobe software installed in the computer ?
    Santhosh: Are we still connected?
Albert Genger: Yes - Adobe Creative Cloud - Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - Adobe Premiere Elements 11 - Adobe Reader XI
    Santhosh: Okay.
Santhosh: Please navigate to C drive > Program File (X86) > Common File > Adobe > Adobe PCD > Cache.
Santhosh: Please cut and paste the Cache.db file to Desktop.
Albert Genger: I must I do this
    Santhosh: Sure.
    Albert Genger: yes
Santhosh: Let me know once you perform the above step.
Albert Genger: I'm not the best in computer programms and I'm an amateur, that;s why I ask you where to find this cache.db
    Santhosh: Okay.
Santhosh: May I know the operating system language ?
    Albert Genger: Dutch
    Santhosh: Okay.
Santhosh: In this case, I request you to contact Adobe Phone support. So they will be able to assist you with this issue.
Santhosh: Please use the below link to contact Adobe Phone support.
    Santhosh: http://www.adobe.com/nl/aboutadobe/contact.html
Albert Genger: okay and thank you for your support
    Santhosh: You are welcome.
Santhosh: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Santhosh: Thank you for contacting Adobe. Good Bye.
This chat session has ended. Thank you for contacting Adobe.
He/She told me to made a phonecall and I try it first tomorrow but it was dutring to long that's why I try this chat again.
Yesterday I didn't understand what he means by saying - copy your cache on the desktop , so after our chat I read it back and saw that I missed one answer ( I put it in red). And i made this afterwards, so my cache is on my desktop now.
I hope to get contact with your technical support to continue my problem

As this is a Photoshop Elements question, I will Move your post to that very helpful and active forum.
Remember, you will be reaching users of Photoshop Elements and NOT Adobe directly.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Problem displaying text in console after creating socket

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to combine 2 invididual parts of a project I'm working on, but I am having problems intregating it all together.
I am using sockets to connect to 1 computer so it's using client server architecture. Whilst I am able to create and connect using the socket, my program is failing to print on the console. I would like to find out what I have done wrong, and get it working.
    Server code:
    import java.io.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    class Server
public static void main (String []args) throws IOException
              try

  • How to Extrude a path created with Pen Tool

    Hi All
I have created a path with the pen tool (the brown part), and now I want to extrude it, but it extrudes the whole containing block (See image below)
Now I have tried everything, from grouping to compound paths etc, but nothing works.
How do I extrude my path?
    Thank you

...and Texturized it AFTER the extrusion....
Applied a Grain Texture after the extrusion.
    For clarity:
Always pay attention to the Appearance palette. The order of the items in the Appearance stack reflects the order in which they are applied.
A so-called "live effect" (of which both 3D Effect and Grain Texturizer are examples) is an operation which is automatically re-applied after you make an edit to the object to which it is applied. The effects are applied in the order in which they appear in the Appearance stack, from top to bottom.
    1. Ellipse Tool: Draw an ellipse. Leave it selected.
    2. Apply 3D Effect.
    3. Apply Texturize Effect.
Look at the Appearance palette. 3D Effect is listed above Texturizer, and the whole 3D rendering is texturized.
    4. Appearance palette: Drag 3D Effect to below Texurizer. The unwanted extrusion of the entire texture image appears.

  • Problem with width tool in illustrator cc

    hello!
i used to use illustrator cs5 and had no problems with the width tool. now that i am using adobe CC, the width tool functions very oddly and the cursor points are bizarre. for example, i use to just hover over the exact width point and could easily access handlebars or move it. however, in CC, i have to hover a little further away in order to get the ~ symbol to show. PLEASE HELP. this is driving me bonkers and the rate at which i'm working is quite delayed. THANK YOU!!!

Without proper system info and other details nobody can tell you anything.

  • Fixing paths after drawing with pen tool?

Afer you draw a shape with the pen tool and you are not happy with the way you drag the curves and drew the path, do you do anything more with the pen tool at that point or do you later fix it with the Direct Selection tool to manipulate the anchor points to fix it?
    Thanks.

Access to the direct selection tool works only when you clicked on it before choosing the pen tool
If you select the direct select tool before you choose the pen tool it will be accessible by holding the command/control key but if you have the selection tool selected first and then of course it shows up you can in CS 4 and 5 also then hold the command/option Tab key to toggle the direct select and selection tools while still in the pen tool.

  • Is it possible to open AI files created with newer version of Illustrator?

I am still using AICS2; I've noticed that files created in newer versions without PDF content will not open; is there any workaround for this? I'm missing out on lots of nice stuff....

    >is there any workaround for this?
Open them in the appropriate version. You can download a 30-day demo of Illustrator 14. You can also ask the supplier to down-save for you.

  • Fill drawing created with pen tool

How do you do this? I use my pen tool to draw out a shape,
and I close it's path, but I can only control the stroke. Surely
there's a way to fill that space in right? What am I missing? If
drawings made by the pen tool cannot be filled, that is definitely
something Flash developers need to look at improving in CS4.

OK nevermind. just like always, it only works until after I
    post.
