Problem running Nokia Software Updater

I own a Nokia N80 which I would like to update if poss.
I've downloaded and installed the latest PC Suite.
I've downloaded and installed the latest Software Updater.
However, when I run Software Updater I can get no further than the "Starting Program..." page. The horizontal cloured progress bar gets no further than under the "..." from the line above and refuses to go any further.
After about 5-10 mins I either lose interest or an error about runtime libraries comes up.
I have the same problem on both an XP Pro and XP Media Center PC.
Norton Internet Security has been allowed to listen for connections on all ports so I don't believe it's a firewall issue.
Anyone any ideas...much appreciate.

I have been having the same problems. Start to load, and the horizontal barber pole looking thing would just run forever.
I removed and reinstalled the software a few times.
I finally got the program to load, by rebooting, and starting the updater right away.
But then, no update available for my N80, waaaaaaaaa
I am in the US, using a Hong Kong purchased phone, with a Philippine SIM from Smart.

I read another post that someone else with a Hong Kong phone, (46.02) could not get an update either.
I will be in Amsterdam in 2 weeks. I will go to a Nokia service center there and see if I can get updated.

Nokia Software Updater has tried downloading the software, but this is failed 4 times.
Its posible that it can be caused by a bad, slow or instable internet connection.

Problem Downloading Nokia Software Updater

Hi. This is my first time using this board so bare with me. Everytime I try and download the program 'Nokia Software Updater' for my N80 I constantly get the error message that I require 256MB free space and then the installation shuts down completely. Currently my system has 51GB free space on the drive and obviously has plenty of room. Anyone else ever suffer the same problem when downloading or know how to solve the problem? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I think it is referring to RAM. If you only have 256RAM and you have a graphic card that takes 64 then you don't have enough and need to use a computer with more RAM.

Problem with nokia software updater

I downloaded this,and when I go to launch the program it comes up with a configuration error, I have tried following the help guidelines but to no avail. Is there a way I can get this sorted, because I need to update the software on my n900.

Do you have a good net connection? If the update is on-going do not touch or do anything with the pc. The phone will definitely brick if you d/c it.

Problem with nokia software updater... PLS HELP

Everytime I try updating my 5233's software the update fails. It will start the update but when my phone goes into white screen my phone gets disconnected. It will try to reconnect but quickly disconnects. This will happen for a few times and then the the updater will prompt me that the upgrade failed because the device was disconnected. What can I do to prevent this?
My phone hasn't been updated yet nor hacked because it's new. i has software version 12.1.092.
I need help... Please...

N82: Nokia Software Update doesn't find the phone

Hello, I am trying to update the firmware of my Nokia N82, but I get an error message from Nokia Software Updater saying that it doesn't find the phone. I find that strange as Nokia PC Suite indeed finds the phone. The icon on the taskbar says that "AndersMobil is connected".
I've noticed that if I let Nokia PC Suite run at the same time as Nokia Software Updater, this icon shows that the phone is being connected and disconnected several times while Nokia Software Updater tries to find the phone, something that might indicate that the two programs cannot be run at the same time? I tried to run Nokia Software Update alone, but still the program doesn't find the phone.
In Windows Hardware Manager (or Units manager, not sure of the english translation) of Windows XP, "Nokia GSM Phone USB Modem" gives the following error message: "The unit is not working as it should as Windows cannot load the necessary drivers for this unit (Code 31)." Under "Portable Devices" in Hardware Manager/(or Units manager?) the error message "This unit cannot start. (Code 10)" appears for the unit "AndersMobil".
I followed the guidelines on the internet reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater, removing and reinstalling the drivers, but Nokia Software Update still doesn't find the phone, and the same error messages appears in Hardware/Units manager every time.
What do I do?

I have found out how to solve the problem.
Download and run Nokia PC Suite Cleaner - then download and run Nokia PC Suite then download and run Nokia Software Updater.
It worked for me.

What sort of problem are you encountering when you run the Nokia software updater? Have you attempted to run the application through compatibilty mode? To do so, right click on the application and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility," from there you will need to follow the on screen prompts to put the program into compatibility mode.

Nokia Software Updater doesnt detect my N97 Device

When I plug my phone into my PC via PC Suite mode, the PC Suite software immediately sees the phone and fires right up. I can backup data, send texts through the PC, etc. without an issue.
However, when I try and run Nokia Software Updater to load the newest software, the Software Updater can't find the N97 device. I updated to the newest version of Updater (straight off the Nokia website) and it doesn't make any difference; it just doesn't see the phone (and I've tried in every different USB connection mode).
Please Help, I'd love to update the software, I've been told it improves a lot of things on the phone. Also I've read that it could be that I'm simply not allowed to update this software just yet? It might need to be approved by my provider first etc, is this true?

im having problems with nokia software updater,all was working well no problems but now its updated it will no longer work i get configuration error...i have uninstalled and reinstalled with anti virus/firewall turned off but no luck !!!....i have a nokia 6300 software ver 2.7en any help would be great thank you

Nokia Software Updater fails to run properly

Nokia Software Updater version = 2.4.6en
Nokia Suite version = 7.1.40.6
Operating System = Vista Ultimate 64bit with SP2
Installed the software updater and restarted as prompted, but whenever I try to run it there's a prompt "You must restart your system for the configuration changes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now, or No if you want to restart later."
If I click Yes, the PC restarts but I get exactly the same prompt the next time I try to run the updater. If I click No, the updater exits. Either way, the updater won't run and let me update my phone's software; how can this be resolved?

hello I have the same problem when NSU start allways ask for pc restart i found that the problem is a key on registry that have to be removed and on some installation remain before make changes to registry allway made a save of it then run regedit and go to the follow key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\CCDReboot delete the CCDRebbot key and NSU then run properly

I can't install the new sofware for 6300, vs 5.5, because, first, it's neccessary to get new nokia software updater and to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistribuable and there is always the same error (command line option syntax...) when I try to installed this composant on my computer;

Problem with instalation - Nokia Software Updater ...

Hi, I've been trying to update firmware on my 5800 for 3 hours. The main problem is that I can't install NSU: I start instalation (I tried from CD and I downloaded from nokia.com), the progres of instalation is 0% and it does not change during second attempt it displays that there is another instalation in background and that I have to finish it, but checking in Task Manager there is no such task. I think that it is because of Vista, or some programe which blocks instalation, my antivirus is AVG. Please help me! Thanks

Nokia Suite and Nokia Software Updater problem

So I tried to synch my calendar and tasks this morning, as I usually do, from my office Windows XP laptop... and the synch failed.
The progress bar that should tell me how far along the synch has got just stayed empty.
After about ten minutes, I quit Nokia Suite, disconnected my phone, and reconnected it.
When I tried to restart Nokia Suite, I got a pop-up:
Nokia Software Updater is running
Please close Nokia Software Updater , as it stops you from opening Nokia Suite. Then, click Try again.
I looked in Task Manager, and couldn't find Nokia Software Updater...
Any ideas what I can do, other than reboot?

Sorry to hear about the situation. Please go to "Processes" sheet in Task Manager. Close the process Nokia Software Updater.
You can also go to Nokia Suite > Tools > Options > General > Automatically download software updates > Disable it. Try to sync again.
If it still fails, please tick " Nokia Suite > Tools > Options > General > Start collecting logs, in case the issue does not get resolved and you have to contact Nokia Care line and they need them.
