Problem saving in quicktime format

When I try to save in quicktime format (.mov), iMovie starts converting but doesn't finish (never!)... and I have to quit it.
What can I do to save in quicktime format?
Thanks

I've had that problem running QuickTime 7 in Panther and had to go back to QT 6.5.2 But since I upgraded to Tiger I haven't had the problem.
I DID have problems in Tiger, though. For some reason, the pre-bindings were taking up all my processor time (check your activity monitor - system usage should be a low number - mine was over 85% system usage! I had to run a program called MainMenu to fix it). Next check your disk space and your Quicktime settings. I've got multiple drives with partitions and found I had forgot to set the save as directory - it was trying to save a 30 gig movie onto my startup disk.

  • Need Quicktime Pro to save a Windows Mediaplayer video in Quicktime format?

I can't open videos from a FlipVideo Mino Model F360 (MPeg4 standard def.)with Adobe Premiere Elements 7 video editing software. Videos from my Canon EOS Rebel XSi work fine. I'm told it should work if files are saved in Quicktime format. I can't seem to do that unless I buy the Quicktime Pro version for $30. Annoying! Will it work? Is there some other problem here? I get sound but no picture now.

Just move your playhead to the frame you want exported.
    go to:
    File --> Export
Choose "Movie to picture" as your export option near the bottom of the window
Now you can click on the options button right next to it and choose your desired export format.

I am having a problem with files from several programs in my adobe CS6 Master Collection saving in a quicktime format.  I am running a Windows7 PC.  It appears to be happening in both photoshop and fireworks from what I can tell.  Does anybody have any idea why this is doing it and how to fix it?

Fireworks doesn't save or export in Quicktime format.

To save as a PDF, you do that from Print
To save as Wrod format, you export

  • IDVD, the Quicktime format and 16:9

    Hi,
I´ve got a problem with widescreen format and Mac. I´ve edited about 10 short clips with Premiere Pro CS3 on a PC, but when it came to authoring the DVD found I no software for the PC that could handle 16:9 and 5.1 well. I´ve now moved the videos to my friends Macbook Pro and try to author a DVD with iDVD6.
I noticed that my problem was a common one; iDVD shows 16:9 material as 4:3 in preview (haven´t burned anything yet). Then I noticed that even when I play the video files on the Macbook, before even touching iDVD, they´re played in 4:3! On my PC, after being exported from Premiere Pro, they´re played as 16:9 (because they are 16:9!), but as soon as I move them to Macbook they´re played as 4:3.
Here´s the settings I used to export the files in Premiere Pro CS3:
    File type : Microsoft DV
    Compressor : DV - PAL
    Frame Size : 720h 576 v 16:9
    Frame Rate 25,00 fps
    Pixel Aspect Ratio : D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)
    Channels : 5.1
You see, the files are clearly 16:9 and they DO look weird when played on Macbook. I´m sure if I could figure out how to make Macbook/Quicktime player realise these are 16:9 videos, they would look correct in iDVD as well.
    Any ideas?
Despite some problems, I really start to like the Mac.
P.S. If I export with the same settings, but change file type to Quicktime:
    File type : Quicktime
    Compressor : DV - PAL
    Frame Size : 720h 576 v 16:9
    Frame Rate 25,00 fps
    Pixel Aspect Ratio : D1/DV PAL Widescreen 16:9 (1.422)
    Channels : 5.1
I get a nice Quicktime file - in 4:3! What is the problem here, there´s plenty of settings showing that the export will be done in 16:9, but still the Quicktime format makes the final file a 4:3?

    abrotherus,
Your files are anamorphic 16:9 (16:9 content squeezed down into the 4:3 standard definition format). The files need to have the 4:3/16:9 'flag' set correctly in the file format to be recognized as 16:9 by iDVD.
One way to correct the files is to use Anamorphicizer which can be found at: http://homepage.mac.com/sith33/FileSharing34.html

  • Problems with a QuickTime movie file.  Error 2048 message

I am having problems with a QuickTime file.
The file is on a TDK 4GB pen drive.
I can access the file without problem directly from the pen drive.
I am using a Sony VAIO Laptop running Windows 7.
    QuickTime version 7.71.80.42.
When I transfer the file to a folder or upload to send via e-mail on Hotmail and then try to open it I receive an Error 2048 message - "Couldn't open the file.......because it is not a file that QuickTime understands.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You should be fine: a standard DVD can contain up to 120 minutes of video, but this includes menus etc.
iDVD is not concerned with file sizes, just length. It will automatically compress the iMovie file to the standard DVD format of mpeg2 - which is 4.7GB for 120 minutes!
I have once made a family DVD 115 minutes long, but after the family either protested or fell asleep, I have tried to keep them under 75 minutes!

  • Change codepage in OIM reports saved in CSV format (e.g. UTF8 - Win1251)

    Hello guys.
I have OIM V.9.1 installed on WebLogic. For some reason my customer would like to have OIM reports saved in CSV format encoded with codepage differ from default UTF8 (actually desired codepage is Windows 1251 but it is doesn't matter). There is no any information on it in the documentation.
Does anybody already met this problem? Any help would be highly appreciated.

  • AV sync problems when rendering Quicktime in PE 8

I have a simple problem when rendering to Quicktime format fromPremere Elements 8: The AV sync goes out of whack.
    I have tried rendering:
(a). To MPEG - output is fine.
(b). To WMV - output is fine.
(c). MOV - av sync errors
I am assembling about five clips. The first clip plays fine. The AV sync problems starts at the second clip - the audio is a good 3 seconds or so ahead of the video.
Everything is fine in the editing window.
I am running in Windows 7.  To make sure it is not the player, I have played the quicktime output in Windows Media and itunes and the same problem is in both.
    Has anyone seen this issue?
    Thanks.

    Hi Steve,
Sorry for the confusion. It a sensible suggestion to identify the input formats and output formats and I would most appreciate your inputs to this issue because I admit that I am really struggling here to get a workflow going.
    Input  formats:
    1. MJPEG 1280x720P at 24 frames per second (from a Panasonic Lumix Camera)
    2. WMV 1280x720P at 24 frames per second from output of other programs (which only support wmv output at High def output)
    3. MPEG2 1280x720P at 24 frames per second (and sometimes 25 frames per second) from other sources
    Target output formats are:
    1. Blu-Ray
    2. MP4 container format @ 1280x720P for playing on my Apple TV
    3. DVD  (ordinary plain PAL DVD at 720x576P at 25 frames per second)
My goal is have Pre Elements 8 Project settings in High Def and then to simply target all three outputs from one project so that I do not have to redo all of the projects with different project settings.
    Workflow is in two stages:
Step 1 is to create one project for each Chapter and save to disk:  The inputs are from all three input formats that I identified above (High Def - MJPEG, WMV, and MPEG2). I would like to edit, mix the audio, and then save each chapter to disk. The format in which I save this is preferably some kind of high def format that can be edited easily at a later time.
Step 2 is to create the Project that is used to assemble each chapter for final output: This is the project where I put in Chapter marks, create menus, etc.  The target outputs from this chapter are  Blu Ray (high def), AppleTV (high def), and PAL DVD (Standard def).
In all cases, I set up my Project Settings as HDV-AVI for internal rendering because all inputs are high def and most target outputs are high def.
Issues that I am dealing with:
    1. I cannot figure out the best export format to go from Step 1 to Step 2.  HDV-AVI doesn't seem to be available as an export format. Basically, I am looking for an export format that puts the least strain on resources when they are read in for Step 2 and retains the highest quality.
    2. Most of my inputs are 24 frames per second but the internal rendering for Pre Elements 8 seems to be 25 frames per second.  Frame rate conversion can be quite tricky and can put significant strain on resources, but it is not clear if this is straining Pre Elements 8 or not. It does seem to be. I am happy to convert my files into a format that puts the least strain on Pre Elements 8 internal rendering and yet produces the best output.
Note: If you ask - why do I do this in two steps?  It is because I am always putting a strain on system resources when operating in high def. Unless I am careful, I get a message that Pre Element is "low on resources" followed by a crash shortly thereafter.  I have Win7 32 bit, 4 GB RAM, no other programs running, all drivers updated with the most recent version (yes - even the NVIDIA driver) so there really isn't anything else that I can do in this area.
So I am looking for suggestions in the following areas:
    1. An alternative workflow that produces the three high def outputs with the three high def inputs defined above that doesn't cause Pre Elements to continually go low on resources and crash.
          OR
    2. A recommendation for a high def format that puts minimal strain on Pre Element resources?
    Thanks!

  • Problem with activation of Formatted Searches

There seems to be an error in the activation of formatted searches in SAP B1.
The following is an example to demonstrate the real situation with a minimum of complexity.
    1. We have defined 2 user defined fields, U_trigger and U_target, in the title area of documents. Both are defined as alphanumeric fields with standard length 10 and some predefined values.
    2. For sales orders we have defined for UDF 'target' that a formatted search 'getTriggerValue' is activated on changes of UDF 'trigger'.
    3. The formatted search 'getTriggerValue' reads the value of UDF 'trigger' and writes it to UDF 'target':
    DECLARE @triggerValue AS nvarchar(10)
    SET @triggerValue = $[ORDR.U_trigger]
    SELECT @triggerValue
When we add a new document to the database, i.e. the document is in "button-mode" = 'add', there are no problems with the activation of the FS on field 'target' when the value of field 'trigger' is changed!
After a document is already written to the database and is later displayed on the screen again, the document is in "button-mode" = 'OK'. In this situation the FS on field 'target' IS NOT ACTIVATED when the value of field 'trigger' is changed, i.e. the value of 'trigger' is not copied to 'target'.
After this first change the document is now in "button-mode" = 'update'. If we now change the value of field 'trigger' a second time the FS on field 'target' is activated an the value is copied from 'trigger' to 'target'.
If we define the FS of field 'target' with option 'Refresh Regularly' the FS is activated after the first change of field 'trigger' as expected.
But we CAN NOT USE THIS OPTION AS A STANDARD SOLUTION for our problem, since some fields and their FS can not work with this option and need the standard option 'Display Saved Values' set. Otherwise some fields yield wrong values, since they are working not only with constant predefined values as in the simple example above, but with dates which are set by GETDATE() in the FS, e.g.
Is this behaviour a bug of SAP (FS is not activated even if the value of the refresh field is changed)?
If not, what is the idea behind this behaviour?
And how can I get around this behaviour?
    Thank you for your support!
    Frank Romeni

    Hello Suda!
    Many thanks for your answer!
Perhaps my explanations are a bit in confusion.
The example in my question is just to demonstrate the behaviour of the formatted search with option 'Display Saved Values' set, i.e. in a document that is already saved to the database, only after the second change the formatted search is activated.
I am aware that with the simple formatted search that I have shown as an example everything works fine with the option 'Refresh Regularly'.
But what is the meaning to activate the formatted search only after the second change when option 'Display Saved Values' is set?
The reason why we can't use option 'Refresh Regularly' is that in our real application not only constant values are copied from 'trigger' to 'target'.
Let me give you an example which approaches the real situation more than the first example:
    DECLARE @trigger AS nvarchar(20)
    SET @trigger = $[ORDR.U_trigger]  -- U_trigger / UDF 'trigger'
    DECLARE @save AS datetime
    SET @save = $[ORDR.U_date]        -- U_date / UDF 'date'; save current date
    IF @trigger = 'getDate'
      SELECT GETDATE()
    ELSE IF @trigger = 'getDateConst'
      SELECT '01.01.2008'
    ELSE IF ...
    ELSE
SELECT @save                    -- no value in @trigger to change date ==> reset
Option 'Display Saved Values' set: formatted search is activated only after the second change of value of UDF 'trigger'. This is not acceptable!
Option 'Refresh Regularly' set: Suppose the 'trigger' is set to 'getDate'. The actual date, e.g. 25.06.08, is displayed in UDF 'date'. The document is saved to database. When the document is fetched again on the next day, the formatted search is activated immediately without the change of any values, i.e. 'trigger' still is set to 'getDate'. This is evaluated in the formatted search and the function GETDATE() is called and the now actual date, 26.06.08, is written to UDF 'date'. This is wrong!
I hope that the new example shows why we can't use option 'Refresh Regularly'!
We need no regularly refreshed value of UDF 'date', we need an activation of the formatted search only when the value of UDF 'trigger' changes. But why is it activated only after the second change when 'Display Saved Values' is set?
    Thank you for further support!

  • I have my iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. Is there anyway to show them from the external drive without putting them into iTunes?

I havei my personal iMovies in QuickTime format on an external drive. I prefer not to have to import them into my iTunes library which is nearly 1GB already. Is there any way to play them from my MacBook Pro through Apple TV 2 without importing them into iTunes?

Just wanted to add a little to the excellent comments from those above... I have debated on adding the content to iTunes or just accessing the content through some folder structure.
What has worked best for me and my family:
use VideoDrive - http://www.aroona.net/VideoDrive/Home.html to import the videos/tvshows into iTunes and make them in the correct format for my iPad/iPhone/AppleTV devices in the house. This software is cheap and excellent and make the adding of content to iTunes (i everything) easy!
I store my videos on a usb 2tb drive and my tvshows on a different usb 2tb drive. And I swap a drive out every year or so and give old drive away to family/friends. That way my media drives are new(ish) and 1 drive is never older than 2 years.
for media that I don't want to add to iTunes I still use AirVideo as it is an excellent piece of software. I also use AirVideo to allow me to access content on my home network over the internet.
my "media server" is a simple 4 year old intel mac mini with 1 gig of ram best $700 I spent when I first flipped to all things mac. Family now have 2 mbp's, 2 iPads, 4 iphones and 1atv (2nd gen)
I'm working on a document that shows how I did my setup - if you want to read more please feel free to download my preview - https://files.me.com/lee.gaupp/aq0gst

  • Can't get Movie Exported in Quicktime format to work in iWeb and Website

Help!! I just completed a movie in iMovie and exported it in Quicktime Format. It loads into iWeb seamlessly, and I can view it in iweb, but once I save the files to a folder and then the folder to my host (Godaddy, for what it is worth) I get the Blue Quicktime Q with the question mark in the middle. I have downloadd the movie in different sizes, from as much as 19 Mb down to 4.5 Mb and it is all the same. It is for a real estate listing I have. For what it is worth. I created my first website in iweb 1.0 and imovie 06 (http:www.1055Prince.info) and it works great. I created my second website with iweb 2.0 and imovie 08 (http:www.1045Prince.info) and it will not work. I like the design of the 2.0 template better, but I like the fact that the 1.0 template is working flawlessly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

iWeb writes very clever page code and your page had a very common error.
http://www.1045prince.info/VideoTour_files/VideoTour.js is a file created by iWeb that points to your QuickTime file.
If you use the Finder to edit the name prior to Publishing in iWeb things will be just fine and the link will work as designed. Do not edit any file name before uploading to your server and make sure your files use "Web safe" naming schemes (no spaces, punctuation or illegal characters) and the proper file extension.
