Problem Scanning Duplex Printed Document

I would appreciate help with the problem described below. Problem: Scanning duplex printed document scans first page Perfectly but second page comes out solid black. OS: Windows 7
Printer: Canon PIXMA MX860
Software App: Canon MP Navigator EX - mx860 series I would appreciate your help in solving this problem.Thank you,
--Dennis--

Thank You for the advice. I called technical help and Jesse spent considerable time and effort to help me solve the problem. The final verdict is that their is a hardware glitch, not software, The nearest Canon repair center is apparently in some place called Lake Forest, CA.  I was born and lived all my life in Southern CA and never heard of Lake Forest. It must be in Northern CA so I can't simply take it in to the shop for repairs. Jesse informed me of a consumer loyalty discount available if I should wish to purchase a new printer.

Ralph, Thanks for replying. There where no received SIP messages at all just the INVITE being sent but I have made some more progress. The mini does indeed just work. I can do everything that you are supposed to do to other ichat users on the internet. Very nice.
The imac is still playing up but I have got further. I had peerguardian2 installed which unknown to me doesn't need to be running to prevent you for accessing 'barred' IP addresses. snatmap.mac.com is barred in the lists! I discovered this when I saw one of your other posts showed how to turn on terminal logging for ichat. Now that I have turned off peerguardian2 (using the disable filters option) I can make calls to the testbot and see the adverts. I have even done a video conference with the two testbots. I will just uninstall peerguardian2.
However, I can not get a AV chat working to a real user....
    In response to your suggestions:-
I have tried all the options for quicktime streaming but will try 1.5Mb/s again.
The ichat bandwidth limit is set to "none". I am in New Zealand and I have standard ADSL (not ADSL2+) 7.6M down 512K up. The mini config is also set to none.
    Internet sharing is off.
I have had parallels on the machine but the two interfaces that it installed "Parallels Host-Guest" and "Parallels NAT" are configured 'off' and show as not connected. Is this enough? I will uninstall parallels and see if that helps since I don't use it. I also have VMware's thing installed but that doesn't seem to add any interfaces.
I need to capture a full trace of the imac to other ichat user to see what is happening but will update when I have does your suggested changes or have a trace
    Thanks again

  • Major problem saving and printing documents on two computers

This is a bizarre problem that seems to have been transferred from my old MDD to my new Mini when I migrated all my old data and it has me baffled. My apologies if this explanation seems long and complicated but I want to be pretty thorough.
About a month ago I started experiencing a problem with printing. I noticed when printing a sheet of business cards that the page was getting compressed, for lack of a better word, vertically. This was very noticeable because the trim marks on the side of the page were not lining up with the perforations and each row of cards was getting progressively closer to the top as each row was printed. In other words, the first row of cards was okay but then the next row was a little too far "north", the next row a little more, the next row a little more, etc. The bottom of the page was not cut off, it was just squeezed up a bit but not enough that you could tell that the proportions were off. Now I see that many of my documents are like that no matter what application I've use to create them – Pages, Illustrator, Avery DesignPro. What's even worse, I've used Pages to create a sheet of business cards for a friend and Illustrator to make packaging labels and she's having the same problem printing the PDFs of the labels on a different computer. What this seems to tell me is that something has been corrupted and the computer is saving messed up files.
So, about ten days ago I got a Mini and migrated my data using Migration Assistant. And the problem has now been transferred to the Mini. So I now have two Macs connected to two different HP printers that are both incapable of printing (and apparently saving) documents in the proper proportions.
Now, a truly weird thing is that I printed a test sheet of business cards from the Mini on the printer connected to the MDD (via printer sharing) and it appeared that the document printed at the correct length. However, another document, a sheet of labels created in Illustrator, printed at the right length but one edge was slightly cropped off. Grrr.
Anyway, as I said, until about a month ago everything worked fine so something got messed up at that time to cause this problem with saving and printing documents. I need to get this resolved for business reasons – I'm an aspiring designer – but the only thing I can think of doing is wiping out my Mini and reloading everything except my account settings from Time Machine unless someone has advice on what to do. Help! (And yes, I've checked to see that page scaling was always set at 100%.)

Well, I've just about had it. I erased the disk, reinstalled the OS, Adobe CS4, and iWork. I did not use Migration Assistant this time to restore my settings but still my Mac prints documents in the wrong dimensions. Could this be a sudden HP problem? It seems to me some system setting somewhere is making my computer save and print documents in the wrong size. I now have a computer that is almost useless for designing. Lucky me.

  • Pages: Special problem with duplex printing on hp310c

I used to produce and print double sided flyers with pages on my ipad4. My HP 310c printer is ready to print duplex. Everything worked fine until I loaded the IOS7 version of pages (Nov 13). Now there are problems. If I fold the flyer the second page is printed up side down. After some research in internet it seems to me that until the IOS 7 version pages had as default setting "flip on short edge" and now it changed to "flip on long edge". The mac version of pages allows you to toggle between this options (duplex printing). I see no way to change this on my ipad.
The problem seems to be a little bit tricky, but perhaps there is anybody out there to help me.
    Thanks Manfred

TThat is my problem also. You are flipping to the long side, you need to flip to the short side. I order to get the back one to be right side up. I was able to get windows 8 to do that today without doing anything beside selecting landscape and flip to short side. But when I use my iPad I donot have that selection. I need software to be able to have that option.

  • Problem with duplex printing with smartfom?

    hi all,
I have developed a smart form for PO printing. I need to display terms and conditions in the backside of first page. Next page onwards i need to display item details and texts which should be one side of page only.
I have set duplex printing mode for first page and terms and conditons are printing backside of the page.
The problem is second page also printing in duplex mode though i set single sided printing?
    My page defintions are
    page              next page       mode
    first                back               D
    Back              Next               space
    Next               Last                S
    Last               Next                S
Please help me how to set the output from second page should be in single sided per page?
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    Hi,
    page 1: main window
    page 2 :  business conditions...
put condition for first page main window that print only on first page.
    or
you can put condition on second page that print on second page only. SFSY-PAGE = 'PAGE2'
    Thanks,
    suma.

  • Problem in Duplex Printing

    Hi,
After following the discussion given in the below mentioned threads
    1) issue
    2) issue
I am able to print in duplex mode but still there is problem with the number of pages being printed.
Actually I just have to print two pages (back to back on a single sheet of paper), namely 1st page = 'Front' & 2nd page = 'Back'.
    For the page 'Front'
    Next Page = 'Back'
    Print Mode = 'D'
There is command in the Main Window, having Go to new page = 'Back' set & Include printer control = 'SPMDU'
    For the page 'Back'
    Next Page = 'Front'
    Print Mode = ' '
When I print with these settings the output is of 3 pages out of which the first 2 pages are perfectly alright (as they appear on a single sheet back to back) but then the 'Front' pages repeats itself on a new sheet.
How can I restrict the print out to just 2 pages?
I have myslef tried to set the Next Page of 'Back' to 'Back' or even left it empty but it does not work.

  • Problems with duplex printing in Office 2004

My computer is a Mac Pro with the latest version of Leopard. My printer is an HP Laserjet 2420dn. One of its important features from my perspective is its two-sided printing feature. The two-sided feature works with PDF documents and Iwork "pages" documents but for it does not work with Word documents (Office 2004). In the case of the Word documents, the two-sided feature is listed as "off" and no box appears in the print pop-up for "two-sided." Obviously this is not correct as in system preferences, "duplex" is checked as on and of course it is working with other programs. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on here with word and duplex printing???

    Hi Patricia,
We are using the same white paper 'How to web printing' and it is helping us a lot. We are also working on BW3.5. Without this enhancement, our reports were not printable at all.
Please let me know, if you need more information. Thx. Praveen

  • Problem with duplex printing in smartforms

I have 2 pages in my smartform. both the page are with print mode 'D'(Duplex).
While printing the first page goes back for duplex printing but the output is printed on next page.
I want the second page to be printed at backside.
I have also tried other combination 1st page = D and 2nd page = ''. Nothing is working.
printer settings are all right also i have a different smartform it is printing in duplex mode and working fine.
what is the issue with this smartform?
    Please help me.

    hi,
in your main window of first page at the end adda an alternative -true or false
in the alternative add a condition saying if it is end of items.(end of items is nothing but a flag).
if this condition satisfies then call page 2 else call page1.
if it stil does not work then reply back then will give you another answer.
but before this is your output going to have multiple pages?

  • Problem with duplex printing - alternate pages upside down

I have been trying to print 2 per side, double sided from Adobe Reader. I have tried this as two up, duplex and also as booklet printing. Whatever I do, the second side is upside down. "Flip on long/short edge" appears to make no difference.
Trying to resolve it in the printer properties is worse: Adobe Reader seems to override them and I get single sheets single sided. If I select both "two sided" in the Reader dialog and "Duplex" in the printer dialog, the second side overprints the first side (but is the right way up!.
I am using Reader 10.1.2 with Windows 7 and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer with duplex unit using the Windows 7 default drivers. I have installed the "AdobeReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_92870.zip".
There must be a combination of settings which works! Can anybody help? Please?

    Hi Pat.
Yes, both of them lead to the very same error.
I have a workaround, kind of, where I preview the document and select all the pages that are correct (read showing on the pages preview) as included in the 1st screenshot.
As you can see in the first screenshot, the 5th page seems to be non-existandt, however as I try to preview it from the 3rdP software, it comes up just fine and from there I can print it individually... just annoying when you have 50 pages and 6 of then are randomly not showing up.
If I try to print the whole document, it simply gives me the 2nd, 3rd and 4th screenshots.
As for the 3rdP software, as stated in prior posts, it has been working flawlesly for the last 5 years, and has not been updated in any way, shape of form... As you said, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to look into that, however I don't believe the contract for the software maintenance is still in effect...
    Thanks.

  • Problems manually duplex print Photosmart B209a-b

hi there, I'm haivng a problem with the above printer and using Windos 7, Office 2010 and Acrobat Professional 9
The main problem is printing the second side of the printed output.  I follow all instructions (and this is not my first HP printer so I know how the funcitonality works) but after printing the 1st side of the page (its only a 15 page doc) and re-inserting into the paper stack and pressing 'continue' on the HP dialogue, nothing happens.  The screen on the printer shows the home screen (so clearly not doing anything) and the printer properties shows:
    Status: printing-restarting
Pages 48/15 (rather odd for a 15 page document
    size: 4.6Mb/4.6 MB
clearly the pages information indicates there is some major problem.  there is a painful workaround to get the second side to print (send the even pages and reverse the order of the pages) but this is ridiculous.  I used a similar printer (HP all in one) with Windows XP without any of these problems.  Please can someone help me with a fix?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times and no indication of any updated drivers online.
I use my printer wirelessly, the printer is about 6 inches from the wireless router (BT Business Hub 2Wire) and about 2 vertical feet from the laptop.
    Look forward to any help!

  • Duplex Printing Problem - Word 2007, Vista and HP Officejet Pro L7780

I'm having trouble with duplex printing on my new HP Officejet Pro L7780, from Word 2007, running on a brand new Vista system.  I've also had this same problem (repeatable) with two other computers, running XP Professional/Word 2003, XP Home/Word 2003.  All of the service packs have been installed for the operating system, word, and printer.
If you print a landscape document, using the auto duplex setting for the HP printer, the margins will print out offset by .25 inches, on the left and rigt margins.  So if your margin is 1 inches on right and left, the margins will print to .75 on one side and 1.25 on the other.  This would be annoying, except that I'm trying to print brochures and books, which requires that the pages print out exactly as set up... "close enough" isn't working for me
The way I have replicated this problem is as follows:  set up a document in landscape format, using the default margins.  Insert an image on page one, size it so it takes the full margin area.  On the second page, fill it up with text.  Print the document, selecting the printer properties and setting Print on Both Sides=Automatic.   The easiest way see the problem is by holding the document up to the light.  The front and back margins should match and they don't.
Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.
    Diana

    Diana,
This problem is perhaps much larger than you might have imagined.  We have tried to work with Hewlett Packard for over two years on the duplex printing problems.  In the process, we have expended over 100 hours of effort in troubleshooting the problem which has included updating software, reinstalling software, developing test documents, escalating issues, submitting technical findings, and in purchasing replacements.  Unfortunately, our efforts to interact with Hewlett Packard excalated support have resulted in an aire of apathy, disinterest, incompetence, frustration, redundancy, occasional discourtesy, and an outright lack of professional decorum - something inconceivable of a large, reputable company.
We have identified several problems with duplex printing.  The duplex printing problems include irregular margin increases (.25 to .50 inch), margin shifts, cut-off text, compressed text, and compressed graphics.  Please note that most of these problems are only evident when printing documents from computer applications to the printer.  If the user simply uses the front printer panel to copy in duplex mode, these problems are not always evident.  This suggests that the printer mechanics are capable of properly duplexing and that the problem lies in the drivers.
The problem is evident on the HP OfficeJet Pro L7780, Photosmart L7180, Photosmart C6150, Photosmart 3310, and likely on many, many other HP models.  The problem is evident on many computers (HP, IBM, Toshiba, and Dell), is evident in multiple applicatons (Word, Wordperfect, Excel, Peachtree, Notepad, and many more), and is evident on multiple operating systems (Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Media Center Edition, and Microsoft Vista).
We consider ourselves to be extremely polite, patient individuals, but have nearly been driven to outrage by the indignant disregard offered us by HP's escalation support department; a department which should represent the cream-of-the-crop in both service and technical expertise.  Given the ease with which the problem can be duplicated, we expected an extremely quick resolution by HP who, to our knowledge, has never even made the effort to duplicate the problem in-house on our behalf.
Ironically, HP highly advertises their J.D. Powers rated technical support, yet it appears that they actually have extremely poor published consumer rankings in some of today's mainstream computer magazines.  HP technical support makes no apologies for the fact the user cannot use a major feature of their printers, offers no indication that the problem is even being addressed, and off-loads the responsibility by suggesting that we contact Microsoft (who is to blame for this issue).
Thank you, Diane, for your message.  We had a hard time imagining that we were the only one experiencing this problem, especially when HP promotes such a representation.  Which also begs the question why HP plays like the problem does not even exist?  I also fail to understand why HP technical support shows so little interest in a problem that is easily duplicated and adversely affects a major feature of the printer which is commonly used by individuals purchasing equipment for its duplex capabilities.
This is sad because we have been a loyal customer of HP for over twenty-five years.  There was a time when we would have happily endorsed HP's steller products and steller support (provided you could get a problem escalated).  Now, however, they all-too-often appear to offer equipment that fails to support advertised features which is backed up by sub-standard support and extremely expensive ink.  This is an especially sad commentary for users who are buying HP's upper-end printers and computers.
We desire to know if there are others out there experiencing similar problems?  If you have experienced these problems or would like samples of the problems we have duplicated, please respond.  I think the more information we gather, the better our chance of a successful resolution to a serious problem.
    Thanks Everyone!

  • Duplex Printing on Canon IX6560 Problem

i've got problem with duplex printing on canon ix6560, i've installed the latest driver from canon website (11.7.1.0) for OSX Maverick (10.9.5). what is the solution ?

First, check the printer specification to make sure it's capable of duplex printing. If it is, there should be a setting in the Finishing tab of the print dialog. Reportedly, Canon tech support sometimes advises customers to uninstall the existing software before installing an update.
