Problem scanning for missing channels

Hi all.
Trying to scan for missing channels, mainly BBC2, and get as far as 72% - 3 mins reamining and the setup freezes.
I did contact Baombay Hight St., yesterday, but could hardly understand to bloke. He did tell me to do a couple of things to the box, but I couldn't make him understand that I am disabled and could n't get to the back of the box. I also tried to explain to him that I didn't know when I was going to see anyone who could help, as I live on my own and vary rarey see anyone who could help.
Any one any solutions?
Thanks.

Hi stokkers,
Does you STB freeze completely ? No response to remote control ?
A quick suggestion would be to try it again without the network cable connected.
Let us know if it helps.

  • GX700 Crashes when scanning for TV channels!

    Hi forum.
I've got a GX700 with TV-tuner. Everything else on the PC is working like a charm, but when scanning for TV-channels in DVBViewer Pro and CyberLink PowerCinema, the PC simply crashes, and a nice blue-screen error message appears. The Scanning always make it to 98 %, without finding a single channel, and then the crash occurs. I'm using Vista 64-bit.

  • Scan for new channels

Needing to do a scan for new channels because the programme guide was not working properly, I navigated through the menu system, and eventually arrived at a screen which gave me WRITTEN directions to get to the right place. Which left me thinking: Why not just provide the option to scan? Is not the purpose of a menu system to avoid giving written lists of options to choose? Surely something dysfunctional here?

Yes that is the normal route, but my point is more nuanced than that. The role of a menu system is, or should be, about providing a route to the actual operation needed, not about providing a route to a text document giving a description of a route within the same menu system. Geddit? Oh never mind.

  • Credit for Missing Channels

I am highly upset and I just spoke with a supervisor by the name of Braxton {edited for privacy}. I have not received over 100 channels since my account has been set up in april or may of 2014. I work full time, a business owner, full time student and a mother. I do not have time to go through 200 channels to make sure each channel is working.  I noticed one channel said unavailable; bt this was the first time I ever had Verizon, so I was like ok no big deal. A month or so later I noticed the same channel stated unavailable, this is a channel I am subscribed to in my package. In October, I had sum time and went through all the channels I was supposed to have and noticed I did not have over 100 channels n which I called to report the situation. As of yesterday I had trouble shooting done again in which my box was reset 3 xs again. The tech agent (Braxton stated he could not give me the rep's name) stated this was a verizon issue and they would send an agent immediatedly to my home.  He also mentioned for me to contact customer service and I would get a partial credit back from when I had service installed and also free premium channels. The technician came over today switch the box and it stil was not giving me channels then he switched out the main verizon box in my shed. He stated my box installed was a bad box. I called back to customer service, the customer service rep stated they could give me free HBO for a year which I am grateful for and then when I mentioned the credit as mentioned to me from the tech rep, the agent mentioned they could only do a partial for 3 months. I asked for the supervisor and he said they can only do three months. This is rediculous if I was not able to receive all the channels I have been paying for all these months. I was told that I could get a partial credit from when my service was installed because Verizon installed a bad cable box which should have been checked before the inital technician left. This is not my fault and I have no reason to lie about this situation. I would like the amount of credit that I am due. I have been on the phone with customer service/tech support approx. 6 hours or more due to this situation which is taking time and money away from me and my family.  I will also be writing to Verizon Communications. How would you feel if you are paying hundrends of dollars for service you haven't received?

    Hi jcabble00,
Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. The title of your post is the link. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe". • I can't get BT Vision to scan for channels

Yesterday out BT Vision box stopped working for no apparent reason. After checking several channels and the settings I did what I usually do at times like this and reset the system.
When it came to setting it up again I went through all the options but when it got to "Scan for Channels" it never got past '0% Complete'. I waited a LONG time but it still never got past '0% Completed'. I tried to go from the beginning but I still hit the same problem.
Since then I've tested every cable I can but still no luck. We rescently got BT Infinity so there's a cable running from the BT Vision to the homehub that I'm unable to check but that's it. I can watch things using just the television so I don't see how it can have anything to do with the arial.
PLEASE HELP! I'm all out of ideas

I take it you mean you did a factory reset?
    Might be worth trying again.
Thinking..... Remove Ethernet cable from the vision box and try rebooting
Thinking remove aerial from box and try rebooting.
Last switch off everything including the Openreach modem.
If you've done all that and its still stuck then your box may well have a terminal problem.
If you get to this stage and can get no further then either a phone call to report the problem may resolve the issue and you can tell them you have done all possible tests

  • Scan for channels frozen

My box (latest version, 3 weeks old) was fine upto about 6pm. It decided to update itself, don't know why, and it won't get past the Scan for Channels page, gets stuck at 0%. I've done everything. Switched off/on, rebooted, powered down, held ok and down arrow, all that stuff. Doesn't move from 0%. Tried with aerial cable in and out. Any advice before I make the dreaded call to the "help" desk?

We were watching catch up on Sat evening when the vision box took a turn and froze resulting in no freeview channels.  I then went through all procedures to re scan them but still kept getting 0% complete.  After total frustration I rang the helpline Monday am what a mistake   After 2 hours on the phone to New Delhi 0800 number thank goodness I was still no further than when I 1st dialled having spoken to 4 different people with an approx 20 min wait for each.  They could not explain clearly what we had to do as the English was so poor we could not understand them they also seemed unable to realise that our landline is not near the TV.  Having given my mobile number I managed to get an answerphone message to say they could not contact me fantastic!!  Thank goodness for the comments on the forum how to rectify this problem press the left & bottom arrows on the front of the vision box and disconnect at the back of the box keep pressing buttons when reconnecting and hurrah!!!!!!!!! It worked and I managed to scan in the channels now back working again   Please BT sort out your technical helpline.

    any ideas?

    Error: "svr.VirusScanExecutionError"
An intermittent problem with acrobat.com's underlying virus scan component causes this issue. This issue happens occasionally on a small number of server instances.
The solution is to update the article again. Trying again typically routes you to a different host in the server array.

I am having to recreate my itunes library and do not understand why prior album artwork appeared in my older library but not the new library?  Is there some way to scan itunes for missing album artwork?

do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it  --  and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

Anyone have any ideas or information to help with this?  Any help and consideration is MUCH appreciated.

  • TS1398 'could not scan for wireless networks' problem

I keep getting 'could not scan for wireless networks' whenever I try to connect. I have turned wi-fi off/on, restarted my network, iPod touch, and the home modem. What are some other options for fixing this problem?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • 50L2200U toshiba tv scanning for channels

I followed the directions to scan for channels, and when I pressed the installation button, instead of bringing me to a screen that says "terrestrial" - it takes me to a screen that has a customer service number to call.  My toshiba is no longer under warranty, so they won't help me without me paying.  Does anyone know how to scan for channels- is it normal to have a screen with a phone number come up? What can I do? Thanks  It is a fairly new tv- 2012-2013.

    Hi cd-smiley,

  • New 7.01 Problem: iTunes locking up while scanning for "playback gaps."

Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? When I open iTunes, it immediately begins scanning for "playback gaps" and locks up after maybe 20-30 songs...and it does not consistently lock up on any one song it is scanning.
This is most frustrating: the 7.01 upgrade has rendered iTunes non-functional.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I USED to be able to get a playlist or two, I had gotten 5 GB of music back on it by putting 1-2 playlists on, ejecting, plugging back in, rinse, repeat. Now iTunes locked up AGAIN, checked the iPod, NO MUSIC. Really glad I bought this ******* piece of **** two years ago! Totally worth my money!
Now, on top of all this, I find this in the help section.
    Symptoms
You may notice the following symptoms on your Windows PC after installing the iCloud Control Panel, iTunes 10.5 or later, or Safari 5.1 or later:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
    iTunes is slow to respond.
    Windows is slow to respond.
iTunes stops responding when backing up or syncing with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Oh, so you mean that since you guys released 10.5, (and its now up to 10.6.??) people have had this issue of their iTunes not responding? What the ****. So basically since 10.5 people have had their iTunes not working correctly? Fix this crap.
I already did the LSP check thing, only one besides the apple one are two windows ones that are up to date and should be there. There is no other help to be had. What a joke.

Seems like a permissions error to me... maybe check the actual file it is attempting to scan... I know it is in your home folder, but just to be sure, you might want to check that everything is sane.

I just downloaded itunes, and when i go to music there are two options. You can either go to the itunes store or scan for media, and when I click on scan for media it does nothing. Help? (I tried deleting itunes and re-installing it but apparently itunes was still on my computer so it asked me if I wanted to just check and see if there were any issues or missing software, so I did that but i still had the same problem.)

    Hi jbserious,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
It doesn't sound like the iTunes software and its components installed completely.  The article below will walk you through some troubleshooting steps.  Is this your first time using iTunes, or do you have an iTunes library from another computer that you want to move to this one?

  • Scanning for additional file extensions

    Hi
We have a requirement to scan and report back PCs which have database files on the local drives, and I am struggling to configure ZCM Inventory to scan for files with the mdb extension. I have checked the product documentation and do not seem to have missed anything
In the Device Inventory settings section on the Configuration page I have "collect software file information" ticked on all the inventory scan types.
In the "software files" section I have "Collect .exe files" ticked, and have placed mdb in the additional extensions field. I also have all three (system, ancillary, other) file catagories ticked.
The inventory reports back all the exe files it can see on the test system I am running the inventory against (and yes I do have some .mdb files on there), but does not report back any mdb files.
Is there something I am missing in order for this to work?
    Thanks
    Gary
