Problem seeing picture on tv when ipod is connected to tv

I cannot get a picture (just sound) on my tv when i connect ipod touch to tv using digital AV connector. I can watch Youtube but not content from Filmon (live TV streaming).
I also tired with my ipad1 but read somewhere that it's not possible on the old ipad.
Any suggestions?

On the 4G and below iPod touch and the iPad 1, TV out ony works with apps that support TV out.
iPad 2 and above, 5G iPod touch and iPhone 4S and above the TV out mirrors the devices screen unless the app specifically prohibits it.

  • ITunes doesn't start automatically when ipod is connected.

Even though I have clicked on the place that says itunes will start automatically when iPod is connected to pc, it doesn't. I have to click on iTunes everytime, and then it takes a while to run.
Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?

    hi joyful!
just checking. reboot the PC, and prior to launching itunes or plugging in the ipod, bring up your Task Manager to the "processes" tab.
is there an iTunesHelper.exe running in your processes?

  • Having itunes open when ipod is connected

Nano 4th generation--iTunes always opened when iPod was connected to computer; now it doesn't and going to Devices and scrolling down Summary to "open when ipod is connected" is greyed out and will not allow me to check it.  Even going to the iTunes preferences does not offer this selection.

You meant that you can't place a check mark in the check box "Open iTunes when device connected" ?
Just do a little test: Click on Music and see if you can put there a check mark.

  • Itunes wont automatically open when ipod is connected

    Hello there
basically the above ^^ itunes wont open automatically when ipod is connected ive tried the 5 steps and ive also tried the whole tray and exit thing its not WORKING!
    all help much apprciated thanks

I have a interesting hunch that somehow Windows is doing something to you...
One thing you might want to see is if within Windows if the iPod service is running... As there are certain services which automatically get installed when itunes is loaded. These notice the device and loads the app..
Just for reference, here are my Windows Services and their status:
Apple Mobile Device - Started & Automatic
    Bonjour - Started & Automatic
iPod Service - Started & Manual
I thought that a 4th service existed, but can't find it...
Have you tried uninstalling iTunes and downloading to reinstall it again, that might help.. Or else it has something deeper do to with your computer itself!
That's about all I can offer right now.

When itunes runs it sees my ipod and all works fine. I have the box under Devices checked to start itunes when ipod connected. Thanks for your help

    Hello Loggroller,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you talking about the *Open iTunes when this iPod is connected* option from under your iPod's Summary tab? If not, make sure you have this option ticked as well.
It might not hurt to try and remove and re-install iTunes and all Apple related software using these instructions.

  • ITunes does not start automatically when iPod is connected

iTunes used to start automatically when I connected iTunes. It no longer does. Can I fix that?
    Dave

Connect your iPod and open iTunes. Towards the bottom of the iPod screen, there are four check boxes. The top one says "Open iTunes when iPod is connected." Check that box and click apply. If it is checked, uncheck it and click apply, eject and reconnect your iPod, then recheck it and click apply.

  • How to "Open iTunes automatically when iPod is connected"....

...without having them sync automatically?  I'm able to do this on my MBP just fine.  The solution on my MBP is to uncheck "prevent ipods, ipads, iphones from syncing automatically" under Devices Preferences.  Then I'm able to check "Open iTunes when Ipod is connected" under my iPod's Summary Options.  After that i can then go back a uncheck "prevents Ip.... from syncing automatically".
Unfortunately, this option doesn't seem to be available to Windows users.  or is it?
    Thanks,
    Mike

this will solve half of my issue while coincidentally causing the other half of it.
I want to be able to:
Open iTunes automatically when iPod is connected
    AND
Prevent my ipod from syncing automatically *(when this is enabled the prior feature becomes disabled)

  • Won't show my playlists when ipod is connected!

I'm not sure what the problem is with my itunes. I had to restore my ipod and ever since when I connect to itunes it just shows the name of my ipod but doesn't show the playlists that I have on the ipod underneath the name. How do I get it set back so I can see and edit the playlists on my ipod when it's connected to itunes????
    Thanks!
    Sara

I have it set on manual. When I plug in my ipod it shows up and I see all my songs on the right, but the playlists that I have on the ipod don't show up....I just see the list of playlists on my itunes. My husband and I share our itunes so I don't do automatic updates. How would I delete a playlist off my ipod if I can't see the names of the playlists that are on it??
    Thanks for your help!

  • MacBook loses wireless connection when iPod touch connects to network

    hi
ever since upgrading to 10.5.5. on my MacBook i've had the "intermittent network connection" problems that have been described and discussed (without any real solution from what i can see) in another thread.
PROBLEM: every couple of minutes my MacBook loses connectivity to the network - the AirPort icon still says that i'm connected, albeit with one less bar than before, but i can't connect to anywhere, not even to the wireless router - and to re-establish a connection i need to switch off AirPort, switch it back on, it will then reconnect, and after two minutes or so i have to do it all over again because the network connection drops again.
NOVEL OBSERVATION 1: reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater helped somewhat. i used to get an error in system.log about there being too many state transitions on the wireless network and about network traffic reduction measures being taken to overcome this problem, but after reinstalling the 10.5.5. combo system updater this message never appears in the logs and I get kicked off only sometimes (see what i say in point 2 below)
NOVEL OBSERVATION 2: now my MacBook will only lose its connection to the net if i switch on my iPod Touch and switch its wireless interface on. in fact, the only way to avoid the MacBook getting constantly disconnected is to make sure that the wireless interface on the Touch is switched off in the Touch's system preferences; if I just sleep the Touch (top button) without switching off its wireless network interface first in its System Preferences, then the MacBook will keep disconnecting even while the Touch is in sleep mode (presumably the Touch keeps polling the network or something, even while it's in sleep mode).
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 1: I have another wireless device (my Nokia E51, which has wifi capabilities) and if I connect it to the wireless interface then the MacBook's connection isn't dropped - i.e. the MacBook only loses its wireless connection when my iPod Touch connects to the wireless network.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 2: I have upgraded my wireless router (before I had a Linksys WRT-54GC, now I have a Netgear WGR614v9) but that has made no difference.
DIAGNOSTIC NOTE 3: I have also tried altering the router's settings (i have played around a_lot with this, trying every combination I could think of - e.g. staple down particular devices to particular ip addresses, use only 802.11g versus automatic b/g, etc) but that has made no difference either.
    RANT:
The only thing that prevents these disconnections from occurring is to keep the iPod Touch's wireless switched off, which ***** because if I'm in the kitchen I can't have it switched on to monitor my email (yes, I've no life, i hang around waiting for emails), or if I go have a lie down and want to check out stuff on the net, or to browse the iTunes music store or whatever, then I know that my connecting my iPod Touch the computer will be disconnected.
This obviously *****, right? And a lot of people are having wireless problems with their MacBooks, right? And these problems seem to have been around for over a year, right?
So why hasn't Apple solved this problem yet? Or am I just being melodramatic?
Your thoughts on any or all of the above, or flames if that's your preferred method of communicating, are invited. =)
    Cheers
    dr.colekat

Having the same problem here. As a first time mac user, Apple has certainly made a bad first impression.
For me, the issue seems to occur when transferring files between computers that are connected to the same access point (when transferring files from wired computers on the network there is no issue). My vista laptop and every laptop I have tried has worked perfectly fine with this access point so I am 100% convinced it is the mac. Basically when I copy the files, after about 100mb, I am unable to access anything on the local network or internet until I restart Airport. The weird thing is that even though I am unable to access anything, the airport utility says it is connected. I might also note that the wireless signal strength is full.
If I can't get this figured out in a few days, this computer is going back to the store where it came from and I will officially label myself anti-mac. This type of issue is just unacceptable for something so main stream.

  • PC does not recognze iPod, freezes when iPod is connected.

I have a refurbished (I needed my original replaced last spring) 20G Photo. My computer runs on Windows XP.
One week ago it froze, and when an album or artists was slected to be played, it would skip from one song to the next without actually playing anything. It also refused to power down - I had to let it turn off by itself. This is what my original iPod had done when it died. However, this one fixed itself after I reset it.
Yesterday it froze again, in the middle of a song, and refused to do anything no matter what button I pushed. I let it rest for a while and then reset it, and it behaved perfectly fine. I decided I would restore it anyways to make sure any serious problems got corrected.
When I plugged it into the USB 2.0 port on the back of my computer, the iPod updater opened and told me that my iPod wasn't formatted for windows and needed to be restored, properly formatted, and updated. I clicked the restore button like it told me to do, but then the program froze. I tried opening iTunes, and it refused to open. When I tried to open My Computer to see if it recognized my iPod, even that wouldn't open. No program I tried to run would open. I restarted my computer 3 times, but it refused to start up completely until I disconnected my iPod. I tried plugging my iPod into my computer again, and it froze all programs. As soon as I disconnected it, all programs opened and ran normally again.
Basically, I can't restore my iPod or add new songs because it makes my computer freeze up completely. It still plays songs normally, though.
Any idea what might be wrong or what I can do? I don't get any error messages.

    UPDATE:
Allrighty. I took my iPod to the Apple store in my area, and they managed to restore it and install the updated software and make sure it really is windows formatted. I figured that would solve the problem.
I broguth it home and connected it to my computer to start putting music back on it, and it still froze up my entire computer.

  • After iOS 4 update on iPod Touch, iTunes crashes when iPod is connected.

I just updated my iPod from 3.1.3 to iOS 4, and after all of that, when I plug in my iPod Touch 2G [version 4.0 (8A293)] to my laptop, iTunes crashes. A window pops up saying "iTunes has stopped working," and then iTunes closes automatically. When I do not already have iTunes open and I connect my iPod, iTunes will open and then close a few seconds later with the same pop up box.
I tried seeing if it was a syncing or connecting issue, so I turned off automatic syncing and the problem still exists. Therefore, I think it is a connection issue.
*Note: When I was updating to iOS 4, I left and came back to my computer with it running on idle. Could that have had an effect? If so, how can I just redo everything?
**Another note that may be helpful is that while I do still have all of my music and videos in iTunes (which works totally fine with no iPod attached), the videos and music is NOT on my iPod. But, my apps all work fine on my iPod.
I would really appreciate any sort of help I could get for this problem. I was really looking forward to the OS update, but now I am disappointed because of this major problem.
    THANK YOU for your help!

I would try moving the existing iPod backup file to a safe locations and let iTunes make a whole new one.  The location of of the backup file is:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

  • ITunes not starting when iPod is connected

New problem. Ipod nano 4th gen working fine until today (new 1 week ago). Today, when I connect with my computer (windows XP SP3), instead of auto-starting iTunes, the computer opens up a separate window for the nano (treating it as a drive).
If I start iTunes separately, it will see and sync with the iPod, but sometimes a separate window for the iPod will open up at the same time as it is synchronizing.
I tried resetting the iPod--no change. Restarted computer--no change. Restored the iPod--no change.
    Any ideas? Thanks.

That tab was already checked. In the meantime, I kept looking around.
I found a "run diagnostics" item in the iTunes help menu. I selected "iPhone/iPod connectivity tests." It showed that iTunes Helper was not installed. It linked to a web page that gave more instructions that seemed pretty drastic. So...
On a hunch, I went to the windows System Configuration Utility, went to the Startup tab. Sure enough, there is an iTunes Helper as an option to load at startup (but not selected). So I selected it, clicked OK, restarted the computer. Connected the iPod, now works perfectly (I think). Re-ran the diagnostics test, and it passes.
