Problem: setting DESTINATION to RESTORE Source-Backup after ERASING Harddri

Hi Gang,
I partitioned my harddrive when installing BootCamp. It was a pain to log on every day so I backed up my harddrive on a different enternal harddrive. I then erased my MacBook Pro harddrive and I went to restore using Disc Utility 10.5. Everything seemed fine until I tried to drag my original harddrive file from the left column into the destination box. Whenever I try to do so, all the drives in the column light up as I bring my pointer down and the drive I pointed to will not go into the destination box. What did I do wrong ??? Anyone who can help, I would be forever grateful. Many thankyou's in advance. Peace, Joe Ray

Hi,
Seems your SAP system is unicode.
Use T Code SM59, expand the ABAP connections node, select PRDCLNT010 by double clicking on it.
Navigate to the MDMP & Unicode tab.
Check that the Unicode radio button is selected. Save the connection and click on the Unicode test button. You should get a message that the target system is unicode.
Go back and try and activate your system.

As long as the backup on your external drive is fine, it will restore your Mac to exactly how it was on the date of that particular backup, all data included. I have used it before and have retained all data from the date of the backup.

IPhone constantly wants to 'set up' and restore a backup

Hi all. Have installed the iOS 5 in my iPhone and after restoring a backup so that my music appears again, whenever I connect said iPhone to iTunes all I ever get now is
SET UP YOUR iPHONE
This Computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device
Then I get the option of 'Set up as New iPhone'
Or, 'Restore from the backup of....' Then there is a dropdown menu of all the backups there available... ALL of which I've been through...!!!
Anyone help? I've restored this phone now like 8 or 9 times and still everytime I reconnect it, all it wants to do is re set it up..>! ARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Ah ha, I saw a post on a different, non-Apple forum about how to fix my problem for a similar but not the same situation, but same error message, and the suggestion was to click on Set up as a new iPhone, then uplug from my Mac right after clicking OK. I was worried that I'd have to re-set up my iPhone from a factory reset. But the poster who gave this suggestion said it wouldn't do the factory reset if I uplugged quickly.
However, it didn't work for me, so I tried it again and noticed that a message appeared that said I had an unresolved issue with my settings that I had to correct. The setting was for making apps update automatically, which I didn't not want it to do. I unclicked the box and pressed continue and voila, my iTunes was back to where it needed to be.
If that was the problem, then Apple shouldn't hide it under the deceptive, "Set up as new iPhone" which gives one the impression that that is the option of last resort because it will reset the phone to factory settings, losing all photos, music, playlists, apps, etc that were not backed up.

If you set up your iPhone prior to your restore from backup, have iCloud, and had Photo Stream turned on, there is a chance that those photos may be in your Photo Stream. You may find the information in the following article helpful:

How do I get out of "Set up or restore from backup" mode?

Hi I talked to someone from apple and told them icloud messed my contacts up and erased some but i can't sync to comp cause i don't have access to the computer that has all my contacts on it. So they told me to go to settings, Reset and then, Rest all settings. I did this but then it asked me to hook up to itunes to restore from backup so obviously i can't do that since i don't have the comp with me. The worst thing is i can't use my phone now cause it's stuck in Set Up mode. How do i get out???

You can't get out of setup mode without a computer. Did you choose Reset All Settings, which should not have required a Restore, or Erase All Content And Settings, which DOES require a restore? Although too late now.

Problem (-1) when restoring from backup after installing iOS5!

Made a backup before installing iOS5, now I can't restore it. I have repeated the "continue restore" probably 25-30 times, I have unplugged, restarted and rebooted until my face turned blue, I have tried everything I could find on online communities, and everything has failed so far. The data I had on the phone (contacts are on my computer, same with music and mail) is to 90% expendable, but it's that last 10% that I absolutely, desperately need! Silly me, I thought making a backup actually let you keep the backupped stuff...
APPLE, SOMEONE, please help, because I am at my wits end! It's baffling how a reliable company like Apple can release something like this, an update that somehow wipes out everything you have on your phone. I am begging you, give me my phone back!

I have not jailbroken the iPhone, i only have dozen or so apps, synced it every other day. tried the DUF mode before connecting it to the pc.
also, i tried downgrading back and restoring with the following ipsw packages: IOS 4.3.2, 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and 5.
different error code appears with each ipsw. that didn't work either!
in the last attampt it got through the whole progress bar (so it might now be a problem with the firmware), but then it err and gave me the same massage.

Its been like this ever since i upgraded to 4 ever since 4 came out but i never had to touch the settings cuz it continued to work properly despite the useless Sync settings tab.. Ok.. I figured it out.. Somehow the old Firefox sync addon also got added to the addons.. Was clashing with the built in one.. :P

IPhone will not restore from backup after upgrading to iOS4

Hey guys,
I updated to iOS4 just fine on my iPhone 3G 16gb model. Unfortunately, what occurred after that is what's giving me a headache. Whenever I try to restore my iPhone from the backup I created, my laptop keeps freezing when it hits about 8-10% completion. It has no major problems with freezing or locking up, and I'm pretty sure that my iTunes is the problem. My phone will now no longer play my music, nor will it even display half of my custom ringtones(even though they appear on my ringtones list under my iPhone in iTunes), nor will it display any of the songs that I purchased through iTunes on my phone recently.
Most of the other features are working fine, though I have not tested everything. I still receive text messages, phone calls, and can access the internet, so it works how I absolutely need it to, but this is becoming an extremely frustrating ordeal. Please let me know if anyone has experienced something similar or knows of a solution.

You may have to "Restore as New" if you cannot get it to restore from a backup. You will lose your game data but that is about the extent of the effect.

My 3G won't restore to backup after new software install

I tried downloading the new operating software for my 3G and had minor problems. After reading online that it is best to go thru the restore process versus updating, my husband and I both followed the procedure online. We both backed up our phones and then restored them to factory settings. This installed the new software on the phone. After that, we restored to back-up. My husband did this with no problem. I have had so many problems. Basically, my phone will restore to factory settings with new software, but when I try restoring to back0up, the phone just freezes up and continues to the reboot screen over and over and over until you hold the nap and home buttons to shut down phone. I keep getting error messages such as "your iphone cannot be synced. the required disk cannot be found.
HELP!!! I called apple and after 4 calls, the only solution was to take m phone into an Apple store for service. The problem is I live over 150 miles from an Apple store.
Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. I have even tried just running on the restored phone with nothing on it for 2 days and tried backing up today and had the same problem again. Currently, I have no contacts, no emails, no photos, no music, no anything and I live and die by my phone.
Please help!!

Not enough space to restore my backup after upgrading to iOS6

i have an iphone 4s which i decided to upgrade to the latest software. unfortunately, after itunes upgraded the OS, there's not enough space to restore my phone from the latest backup. looks like iOS6 has a bigger usage than the previous OS im using. now im stuck with using my old backup files which obviously something i don't want to use. i want to restore to my latest backup which contains some of the important files i want to access. what should i do???

You're saying I should put the backup on another, bigger external drive, erase everything on my computer and restore from the 2nd external drive? Sounds a bit risky, especially if I erase my computer and the problem is with the backup.

Excel 2007 VBA, problem setting Sheet Visibility in BeforeSave event after Office updates during mid Dec 2014

After update of Office 2007 during mid December 2014, I have a Macro that does not work properly - which it did before the update.
The Macro is used to make sure that users have Macros enabled when working on the file. The logic basically does the following:
=> In the "OnOpen" event, set all "work sheets" as Visible, and set the "Macro Warning sheet" to non-visible.
=> In the "BeforeSave" event, set the "Macro Warning sheet" as Visible and set all "work sheets" as non-visible.
After the mid December update of Office 2007, the "OnOpen" part still works fine. The "BeforeSave" part does NOT work properly if the save action is triggered by using the shortcut key "CTRS+s". However, if saving the file
using the "Save" option in the menues, the "BeforeSave" action works fine.
Does Microsoft have a fix for this problem? I am not entierly sure exactly which update/KB that caused this.
To recreate the problem, put the following code into the "thisWorkbook" module, and make sure that one sheet has the codeName "wshForceMacros". Open the file, enable Macros, then save the file using the keys "CTRL+s". The macro
now hangs on the row "wshForceMacros.Cells(2, 1).Select" since the wshForceMacros sheet has not become properly visible...

Can't restore my backup after loading update !!!!

I backed up my phone yesterday before loading the update. After loading the update, I got an error saying I couldn't restore my phone since I didn't have enough storage. After THREE hours with Apple Care and 5 RESTORES, they still couldn't get my backup restored.....so I have lost over 1,000 photos not to mention everything else I've got on my phone for the last two years. Apple tells me that since the update was larger than the previous update, it took up too much room, and since I was close to capacity on the phone, my backup is TOO large......after THREE hours, they pretty much insinuated it was MY FAULT for having my phone at capacity.......there is no warning anywhere about the update taking up too much space and to NOT do the update if your phone was almost full. Does anyone have ANY suggestions how to be able to get my backup smaller so I can get it back on my phone??? Apple Care said it isn't possible and I can bo buy a phone with more storage....to the tune of $800.00.

Has anyone had errors in restoring their backup after the iOS5 update?

After 6 times of downloading, installing, and restoring my iphone 4, now I've run into an issue where the phone can't retrieve my backup (none of them!). Has anyone encounted this?????

I was running into an internal error dialog box in iTunes when trying to do the update to iOS 5. I tried rebooting my iPhone 4 first, but still got the internal error message. I then did a hard reset with my iPhone 4, holding down the power and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appeared. That seemed to do the trick. As soon as the iPhone rebooted fully, I did the update and it worked with no internal error message.
Try resetting your iOS device then the update. Some forums I have been reading on this have suggested puting the iOS device in DFU mode, while connected with usb cable to computer and iTunes running, holding down the power and home buttons past the Apple logo until iTunes dialog box pops up that "iTunes detects a phone that needs to be restored" and proceeding from there. I haven't tried that. The resetting worked for me.
