Problem setting up email-- Curve 9300

The first time I switched on my phone I got the intro. I had to skip the email set up at the moment.
Since then, when I try to set it up I just get the option enterprise and not the one for personal email.
Afterwards it gives an error message telling I should check with my network administrator but they don't know how to help me further. Furthermore, I have just changed carrier and I have exactly the same message. Does anybody know how can I do to set up my personal email address? Currently I cannot send emails.
Is it otherwise possible to do a complete reset so that I get everything you're supposed to get the first time you switch on your BB?
thank you very much

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
Good luck.

PROBLEMS SETTING UP EMAILS AS DEVICE REFUSES TO RECOGNISE PASSWORD AND/OR USER NAME
My 9800 ( I have 2 - one spare )  is driving me nuts- will not let me set up email accounts from my other Curve model.
Repeatedly told that either user name or details are wrong, yet they are RIGHT on website.
    Exasperated
    Help please??
    Fair winds and kind landfalls

Thank you- I have read through that thread and can see some resonance with my issue.
My AOL emails work VERY fast with BB, in fact almost simultaneously received on PC & Torch " ping ping!"
This issue only raised its ugly head when I had 2 Torches replaced by my insurers.
Whilst the claim was in process I used a new Curve, loaded from backup on PC to keep emails going and of course phone & web facilities. ( I use the BB to power internet via bluetooth to my PC / laptop when living on a remote island with no phone lines or power supplies)  All was fine. Swapping email accounts took a few minutes with the usual password confirmations for each AOL screenname etc.
Then the new Torches came back from insurers, and I tried to swap devices. Phoning & texting is fine. Al data and contacts swap over fine.
SETUP email accounts.............stymied every time. It says repeatedly that my user name/password is invalid etc etc etc
Have tried security wipes. Have tried setting up new BB ID & passwords on PC website. All is OK until I try to setup emails on the Torches.  This has used up ridiculous amounts of time- all wasted.
I love the BB phones and the fast email push......in fact I recently bought a new Sony Xperia Z1 but sent it back because of wifi coverage meant no emails on that superb phone for lots of the time.
Good old BB I said..........I always get emails wherever I am. ( Rural Scotland has very patchy radio & wifi coverage)
Was about to purchase new Z10s just to get a bigger screen, but now I am averse to buying ANY BB phone again because this present mess means I may never get emails set up again.  How nuts is that?
Many thanks for all help & suggestions..........boy do I need them!!
Kind wishes from West of Scotland

  • Email set up on Curve 9300 and Music

I have just bought my daughter a used Curve 9300 and am having trouble setting up email account.  In the set up menu the only option for email takes me straight to the Enterprise option - I think I need personal email set up but I do not know where to find it.
Also have a music download issue.  I have synced it to our itunes and although I spent ages specify which tracks to add (using BB desktop software) and it seems to have added the whole libary!  I then tried to remove it all with no success.  Now seem to have double copies of everything!  How do I remove all the music and start again and get it right.
Can you tell I am an iphone user, this BB stuff is all new to me!!

To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will should have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

Activate Mass Storage Mode and manage the music that way. From your PC, you will  be able to treat the BB as a USB drive, with all of the capabilities of file management via PC. You can find out how to activate Mass Storage Mode in your device user guide:

This actually concerns me the most. See this:
KB05099 Steps to take before selling or after buying a previously owned BlackBerry smartphone
If the seller did not properly complete all of their steps, then you have little hope of succeeding at anything with this BB. Further, if the device is not unlocked, then it can only be used on it's original carrier. Further still, if the device model is not specifically supported by the mobile network provider you wish to use, then you will have even further challenges getting it to work, with no guarantee of any success whatsoever.
BB's and i-devices are very very different.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Problems Setting up Email on Curve 8520

I'm not able to set-up email on my new curve 8520. I know that other people have posted about it before, but I still can't seem to get it working!
I have BIS and have already created a Blackberry ID. Whenever I go to email setup, the only option I'm presented with is "I want to create or add an email address" and when I click next it says "After you click Next teh Blackberry Internet Service setup application opens. After you finish setting up yruo email press the menu key and click close". On the next page , I'm asked for my username and password, and when I fill it in, I always get:
"The information you provided is incorrect. Retype your user name and pasword."
I know that my username and password are correct, as I've double checked them in BlackBerry App World, so the issue has to be coming from somewhere else.
I've contacted Vodafone several times, and RIM but no one has been able to give me a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heathermac, the username and password for setting up your email on your BIS account is NOT the same as your BlackBerryID... two very different and totally separate things.
You might want to make your BIS login the same as your BlackBerryID, that would be convenient and a good idea, but they are not the same. They are set up differently, and one does not carry over to the other.

Well, a bit more detail than "having problems" might help us just a bit...keep us from guessing, after all. In the meantime, see this:

  • Can't set up email on 9300

I'm having terrible problems setting up my business email (not an online email) on a new 9300 from Vodafone. I am entering the same settings that I use to set up email on my iPad and laptop, ie username, server, password etc. but I am being constantly told that the details are incorrect. I have set up a personal email ok. Any idea as to how this can be set up as I am close to returning the phone? The main reason I bought it was to receive email fast. I should also point out that I've been on to Vodafone approx 10 times and tech support 3 times and still no luck. They assure me the problem is not at their end.

Hi yes have got the blackberry add on and still doesn't work!
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
    1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
    2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
    From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

  • Problem setting up email

hello everyone, i reccently purchased a vodafone bb 8900 from my friend, i got it unlocked today and i am currently using an 02 sim card. My mate had his emails set up on the phone but deleted it before passing the phone on.
My problem is when i try to set up my emails i go to setup / setup wizard / email setup, there is no option to create or add an email account. Only the option to use a work  email account with an enterprise server. And there is no shortcut to Email settings in the setup folder.
does anyone know how to set my emails up from here??
ps. this is my first blackberry and i am a complete novice with this sort of stuff so if you could keep it simple it would be much appreciated  thanks Ryan
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, you need a BlackBerry Data Plan from your carrier.
Call 02 and ask for the BlackBerry Data Plan for your account or tariff.
Without it, you have a nice device which will work for a WiFi-connected browser. No RIM push email or other applications which require the data plan.

  • Connection Problem with Vodafone on Curve 9300

I have curve 9300 with OS version 6 and with a Vodafone prepaid connection in Kolkata Circle. Recently I activated BIS 399 plan (Mail+Maggenger+Surfing) plan but Vodafone is still unable to provide me the service. From the day of activation ( 8 days ago)  my tower is constantly fluctuatuin between 3G and 3G(B) when the network mode is selected as 2G&3G. They have asked me to select my Network Mode to 2G only and after that my tower is shifting between edge and EDGE. They haven yet figured out the problem. I do not think that there is any problem with my handheld but their network. Anyone here faced problem similar to this please share your experience. Please also help in this regard. Thanks in advance.

  • Problems setting up email + understanding Pin and BB internet service

    Hi,
I've been browsing for answers about my new black berry 9700.
When I try to set up my email on the phone it says. "Your email account is already activated for enterprise use."
I have no idea what that means.
I brought the Blackberry pretty much brand new, it was used for like a day.
the problem with that is I've never had a blackberry before and I don't know anything about setting up the email, blackberry internet service, enterprise, and the pin system.
Also, the other problem is that there are two icons for internet; Browser and WAP. I just want to connect to the internet via my wireless internet and not get charged, and want to know if I am getting charged.
     Please help.

    Shoulda done some reasearch first:
Using your WiFi router to connect to your 9700, you can use the WiFi hotspot browser ONLY to connect to the internet. You will NOT be able to use the RIM push email, Facebook app, BlackBerry Messenger, Maps, etc.
You MUST have the BlackBerry Data Plan on your service provider account for that.
Go to Options > Advanced > Browser and save that to HotSpot Browser.
Meanwhile, at Manage Connections, search for and connect to your WiFi router and you're set to go for the limited use you'll have.

  • Problems setting up email client (Mac Mail) with BC hosted emails

This issue has me tearing my hair out! My client wanted to take advantage of the 10 emails addresses with WebBasics. Very simple to sort out and the emails are all happily available with mail going in and out through the WebMail interface. Brilliant.
However my client wanted to be able to access her emails through Mac Mail. And I cannot get the outgoing mail to work.
I have followed instructions to the letter, and I can get emails to come in but when I try to send it simply states that the stmp.clientsdomain.com say's it's offline.
I have tried using alternative ports, also using the ISP outgoing mail setting with no luck.
My main issue after speaking to the livechat guys at BC and using Factsheets, is the information on them (screenshots etc) just does not reflect Mac Mail, I admit that I am probably using a later / earlier version but the differences seemt o be huge. For instance, I keep being told that I need to UNTICK the SSL box during configuration. But my version of Mac Mail, doesn't give me the option to tick or untick at any point, it does however throw up a warning message saying that my client's domain is invalid inscure but I can carry on. Similarly when I look at the Account Summary on the FactSheet it says that it should show "SSL:OFF" but when I follow the instructions it states "SSL:ON" . I have gone into preferences afterwards to untick SSL but it still does not work.
    Anyone have an answer?

    Hi Peter,
I'm afraid not, I turned to Apple support forums, followed their advice for troubleshooting Mac Mail (obviously not relevant to you using Outlook) but It involved scanning ports checking firewalls etc, all of this was clear and I just cannot see the problem.
I even got one of the Livechat BC guys to look into it, by setting up a dummy email address on the client's account, I think he was rather intrigued, but I'm not sure he's had much luck as he still hasn't got back to and that was over 20 hours ago.
Can your client receive emails? I can only get my client's account receiving emails, when I try to send an email I just keep receiving an message telling me that it cannot connect to smtp!
According to the BC fact sheet for sending and receiving emails: "By Default, email software will set the SMTP port to 25, which is the standard port for the smtp protocol. However our mail service has two alternative ports available that you can send through. 8025 or 587.
However it's not blocked and those port settings didn't work either.
The Apple fact sheet made mention to firewall settings possibly also blocking, but it's not relevant to me using my version of OS.
Good luck, and please repost if you get any further.
I am now just looking for a reason that my client's mail WONT work on Mac Mail, just so I can sound professional when I tell them the answer is "no".

  • Problem setting up email account

I gave my husband my Blackberry Torch.
When I went to setup his email account I ran into a problem.
    I go to Setup...go to Email Accounts...and then...nothing.
When I click on the Email Accounts icon...nothing happens.
    I did a battery pull...restart...etc...
Where can I go to fix this issue!?

    Prince2012's reply is correct.
Just to give you more options, you can also cruise over to http://rogers.blackberry.com from your PC browser to add, delete and edit email accounts on your phone.  You'll need to contact Rogers for a password to the BIS site but it's nice to have another method available to you.
    Cheers.

It's so bad I want to throw it away. I have the phone and a Playbook.I can't link the 2 because to do that I have to access App World, It continually says I don't have sufficient wireless coverage but I do for the Playbook and every other computer.I even put the phone next to the wireless hub but its still no good. The phone works on other wireless jobs.
I can't set up my email because it says ' Activation request failed, A service connection is not available.
Does anyone want a discount phone and Playbook, This is the worst phone I've had

Thank  you for taking you're time to help me. I have been told by work to call our internet provider to get the Enterprise Server code which is fine. But when i go in to the email setup it gives me a list  Yahoo, Google, AOL, Windows Live, Other, and Create New Address. There is nothing like "I want to use a work email account with Blackberry Enterprise Server" which it says in the instructions i need to. I'm Stumped
