Problem setting up Premiere CC 2014.1 to monitor 5.1 audio

I'm working on a large project that I am trying to do a 5.1 audio mix for. The problem is that I can't get Premiere to play anything but stereo audio. This makes it impossible to monitor the audio as I try to mix in 5.1. The meters seem to indicate that the audio is being played correctly in the program but nothing I've tried will let me monitor it correctly.  I'm on Win7pro 64bit, with a Sound Blaster Z sound card. I just bought this sound card specifically for this as in the past I did a 5.1 mix ( In Cs6 i think) with a sound blaster Xfi Titanium HD card and it worked fine. This card has a creative ASIO that I select in the Audio Hardware menu but it only gives me options for L/R channels, and I can find no other way to add/map additional channels. I've also tried ASIO4all and it will also only map stereo channels.
On a related note, this card is configured correctly, and outputs 5.1 audio perfectly in windows, and in all speaker configuration tests I have run. What can I do to configure it to work properly in Premiere?
Jay

So in doing more research it turns out that in a past driver update, Creative replaced the original 6 channel capable "Creative Sound Blaster ASIO" with a newer "Creative SBZ ASIO" which only supports two channels. I was able to load up old drivers prior to the change and get 5.1 to work properly in Premiere.

  • Premiere CC 2014 - exporting clip with separated audio channels (CRAZY)

Hi. I've been looking around the web and can't find the right answer.
It should be simple, but not!
I have my editing timeline, in which I have 3 tracks.
    track 1 - voice over
    track 2 - soundtrack
    track 3 - sound effects
ALL OF THEM ARE 'Pan centered'...I here each one in both speakers, and they appear as stereo (2 wave forms in each track)
My client asked me to send him a XDCAM HD movie without mixing audio. Each track containing diferent sound, but (center balanced / pan)
When I export 4 channels, it works, but all channels have all tracks mixed!
is there any simple way to do that?
long time ago, in FCP was much easier
    what am I missing?
I'm looking foward for an answer.
    regards,
    paulo.

In much the same way as FCP7 your sequence must be set to be multichannel (rather than stereo). Unfortunately, unlike FCP7, you can't make the change to an existing sequence - you must create a new 'multichannel' sequence (or change your default so they are multichannel by default) to be able to route, in the audio track mixer, to separate outputs.
I find it better to add some submix tracks to enable a master mix to be folded down to stereo outputs 1&2 as the 'downmix' in PPro is mono NOT stereo (unlike FCP7).
Both of these could do with being added as feature requests (ability to adjust number of outputs to existing sequence and mixdown to stereo, with level monitoring) at adobe.com/go/wish

  • My Program and Source Monitor Stopped Working: Premiere Pro 2014

    Heres how it all started.
I got an error which said I didn't have the correct video modules, then came the ugly face of BSOD. I restarted, tried again, same result. I did a system restore with Windows, reinstalled Windows 8.1, reinstalled all of my plugins and Adobe CC programs, and when I opened my project was completely scrambled. Uninstalled all Adobe software, ran CC Cleaner, reinstalled. This got the audio in my videos to work but now there's only a white screen on my my Source and Program monitor when I try to play my timeline. I did another system restore on Windows, went to my laptop manufacturers website and updated my bios, graphics driver, and processor. Also reinstalled windows updates, and my Adobe software, I've tried CC Cleaner before each install, tried going back to the previous version of Premiere and still nothing in my source or Program monitors.

-I read that there might be a problem with the .MTS files so I've also tried starting a new project with .MOV files and h.264 and still nothing.
-I tried going into the project settings and choose "render with software", still nothing.
-I tried emptying media cache files under C://users/my user/app data/roaming/Adobe/common.....you guessed it, NOTHING.
-I tried using my daughters "Frozen" magic wand we bought her for Christmas to fix the problem with icy magic like Elsa did in the movie.......surprisingly, still nothing.
    Any other ideas out there?

    Hi,
Do you have Dual Graphics Adapters? You can check that under Device Manager > Display Adapters.
If yes, Disable Intel Graphics and see if it helps.
Have you tried to Trash the Preferences?
Rename the 8.0 folder to trash the preferences: <drive>\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro\
    Thanks,

  • Problem opening a converted project from previous version of Premiere CC, in Premiere CC 2014.

Hello. This is the problem. When I try to open with premiere pro CC 2014 a converted and actualized CC 2014 version of a project created previously in a previous version of premiere, the software crash.
Said in other words if it doesn't clear:
    - I created a project in Premiere CC
    - I actualized the project to Premiere CC 2014
    - I worked in the project with the new Premiere CC 2014 for few days and suddenly, I cannot open the project and the software crash.
I hope you understand my problem. Sorry about my english. I'm not native english speaker.
Thanks for your help and support.

Rather than opening directly, try importing the project via the Media Browser Window.
Much more efficient as you'll have more options.

    Grazie

I found a solution that worked for me. Seems to be a permissions problem. Here's the solution I found (found it here: CC 2014 startup issues : Adobe Premiere Pro):
In the finder menu click and hold on the GO menu. Hold the option button and the User library will show up. Click the User Library.
In that folder go to preferences and find the adobe folder.
Right click on adobe folder and click get info.
In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
All should say Read & Write next to them.
Unlock the lock, switch them all to read and write.
Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "apply to enclosed items.
    Then lock the lock again.
Now go to your OS Hardrive and click on Users, your user name, Documents.
    Find the adobe folder there.
    The lock the lock again.
Wait 1 minute. Then launch Premiere.
    This fixed it for me.

  • Canon spanned clips - problem with Premiere CC 2014 v 8.1 (and NOT in CC v 7.2.2)

    Hello,
    I have a spanned XF100 clip (3 clips total 13:50).
I have the whole directory content (XML,...) of the CF card.
I use the Media Browser of Adobe Premiere to import the videostreams.
Everything worked fine with Premiere CC v 7.2.2
I needed to upgrade to Premiere CC 2014 v 8.2 as the new Speedgrade didnt work with the old version of Premiere.
Suddenly the spanned clip does not playback smoothly. In fact, if I place the timer to a specific point, it takes up to 60 sec until the picture changes in the "Programm window" and doesnt playback at all. Only the sounds works, but the video is only a still picture.
This only happens with the spanned clip. All the other "single" clips are working fine.
I do exactly the same thing in CC and CC2014. In CC it works perfectly and in CC2014 it does not.
    Any idea?
Does CC2014 interpret the spanned clips differently?
    thanks for your help!
    Manfred

I have a similar issue with XF305 spanned clips in a sequence mixed with 5dMarkIII and old SD DV footage running very slowly intermittently on 8.1. I had worked case 186016889 this weekend for this issue and the engineer renamed the following folders to _old and PR recreated them. I'm running on Win 7 Pro latest SP, i7 920, 48 GB RAM and Nvidia GTX 480.
    %appdata%\Adobe\Premiere Pro to %appdata%\Adobe\Premiere Pro
    Libraries\Documents\Adobe to Libraries\Documents\Adobe
This seemed to help for a while, but the nature of the slowdown has been from a few minutes to many hours. I did finally notice that I had up to three orphaned PR processes that were still doing I/O. Things get better now for a while after I kill the processes. I've seen other issues with the new version where edit audio in Audition doesn't refresh the waveform after an Audition save and removed and reinstalled PR last night because the edit audition of the next clip overwrote that audio with the previous clips file.
So I have a fresh/clean install and it's still intermittently leaving orphaned processes and running slow. I think I can get it to happen consistently when I send the audio to Audition, but I'm doing an export now so I can go back to the previous version. I'll do a quick test to see if it's consistent before I downgrade so I can re-due the  last three days work.

  • Problems accessing full version of Adobe Premiere CC 2014

Yesterday I purchased the complete student addition of creative cloud special offer at $15.99. After completing my purchase I signed into creative cloud with my Adobe ID and installed Adobe Premiere CC 2014 from the apps menu. After installing it, it asked me to start the trial, which doesn't make sense because I bought the program as part of the creative cloud complete package. I should get the full version, so what is the issue?

  • Bug in Premiere Pro 2014.1

    Hello everyone,
there is a bug in Premiere Pro 2014.1 (81) - when you want to replase klip from bin or from sourse monitor on klip in your timeline (and speed of your clip on timeline is not 100%, it is set to 50% , or 60% - it is not matter) it happends, but it replaced not from moment, that you are deside (with your IN button), it replaced from the another point of the video. It happends only if your klip on timeline is not set on 100% speed (then it is on 100% speed - everything is work perfect). In previus build (AP 2014.0.1 (21)) all work perfect in any case .
Maybe someone faced a similar problem and knows its solution ?
    Best regards , Alex

Anyone from Adobe care to offer some insight as it's something that is reportedly fixed?

  • Premiere CC 2014 eating up RAM

When I work in Premiere CC 2014.1, as was the case in prior versions, it is soaking up my RAM.  Below are screen shots of when I first open Premiere, up to about 10 minutes later, when almost all of my available memory is shown as used (Premiere gets pokey when working in the timeline at that point).  I have no other programs open.
    I'm on a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon mid 2010 Mac Pro
    32 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB (this card is a recent upgrade...was having the same issue with the previous ATI Radeon)
    OS 10.9.5
    Apple Pro Res 422 media
I have Preferences>Memory set to optimize for Memory and have 28GB available to Premiere.
I'm not using any third party plugins on the timelines I'm working on (nor any effects), though I do have plugins loaded.
I have had this issue when working on my internal Seagate 7200RPM drives as well as my external eSata RAID drives.
Does anyone else have this issue?  Any thoughts as to what might be happening?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Premiere Pro CC 2014 also freezes when I try to export. I do not get any error messages, it just freezes and I have to restart my computer. The only way I can render is to Queue to Media Encoder CC 2014.
I have tried posting my problem many times but this Community Forums will not accept my post and keeps telling me to 'try again later .m4'.

  • No AAC audio in Premiere CC 2014.1? [bug - resolved]

    --- Original post for reference
I just updated to Premiere CC 2014.1 today.
I have a set of files that I regularly convert with Handbrake into MP4s with an AAC audio stream. I have had no problems at all with CS6, CC, and CC 2014. But now with CC 2014.1, I get no audio when I import the mp4 files.
The Project window says it is a "Video" file, not a "Movie" file. The associated icon in the Project window is also missing the waveform on it.
When I drag it onto the timeline, only the video track appears, as you'd expect. The video alone appears to play back correctly.
Restarting PP CC 2014.1 did not do anything.
I loaded up PP CS6 and imported the exact same MP4 file and it works as expected. Windows Media Player has no problem playing the video file with audio either.
What changed between CC 2014 and CC 2014.1 that could have caused this?

Reason: there is no Premiere Pro CC 2014.2, you probably mean 2014.1. If not, please PM me.

    Hi wired.au,
    Thanks for this solution.

OK ... after I finished my post below about how PP CC 2014.1 would not recognize the mono AAC audio track from my MP4s, I decided to produce the same MP4 again with Handbrake, with a stereo audio track instead.
It worked. After loading the stereo MP4, I reimported the original mono MP4 that didn't work (without restarting premiere or anything) and the mono audio is now recognized. Looks like there was a strange bug with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 and mono AAC audio tracks, which got resolved after importing an MP4 with a stereo AAC track for the first time.
I thought I should leave this here just in case anyone else encounters the same thing.
