Problem setting up separate runtime environment on OWB 11g

We're trying to set up an environment similar to this: [Split Repositories Implementation|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/owb.111/b31280/reqs01.htm#BGBIHAHE]
The server OS is Windows Server 2003 x64 ed, database version is 11.1.0.7
The database/warehouse server was installed with a single database where the default design repository is installed. There is a "control center service" running on the default instance.
We're running OWB clients on separate XP workstations and are able to access the minimal default design repository.
We've set up another database on the same server, this one is to be used for the runtime environment, as described in the references Oracle diagram referenced above.
However we're not able to find much useful documentation on how to set up the second database with the runtime environment and control center service.
Whenever we try to dig deeper into the Oracle documentation, we always end up with hints on how to set up a "remote runtime" on a server without database. This is not what we want to achieve.
A simple step-by-step guide on how to set up a runtime control center repository with audit tables & packages in a database separate from the design repository database is very difficult to find.
Is there anyone who've succeded in doing this that could give us any information on how to implement it?
Regards,
-Haakon-

Thanks again Oleg.
I've now managed to configure up a separate runtime target environment in addition to our design environment.
For others who might struggle with this; here's what I did:
- log on to the Windows server console
- open a command window
- set ORACLE_SID to the newly created runtime target database
- set ORACLE_HOME
to same home as previous OWB default home installation (initial design database)
- run >sqlplus "/as sysdba"
- run %OWB_HOME%/owb/UnifiedRepos/clean_owbsys.sql
to remove all previous OWBSYS setup
- edit %OWB_HOME%/owb/UnifiedRepos/cat_owb.sql
and comment out the 'LOCK USER OWBSYS' statement at the end, then run the script
- run %OWB_HOME%/owb/UnifiedRepos/reset_owbcc_home.sql : this will prompt for "the full path of the Oracle home for the OWB Control Center install:"
. Enter your '<drive>:\Oracle\product\11.1.0\db_1\owb'
- after running reset_owbcc_home.sql one needs to set a known password on the OWBSYS user:
ALTER USER owbsys IDENTIFIED BY password
- finally run the Repository Assistant locally on your server and set up a new repository workspace in the new database. This time (after running the above sql-scripts, the Assistant did not crash halfway through).
We're now able to create a new Control Center from the OWB client installation and deploy tables & mappings and execute mappings on the runtime target system.

I installed Java 2 Runtime Environment, v1.5.0_02-b09 on Windows XP (Dell computer purchased 4/05, so XP version is current). After installation:
Everything on my desktop became tinyicons, fonts, and default sizes of windows.

  • Problems setting up Semantic tech in Orac le 11G  running Linux.

    Hi Every1,
Am a novice at this Semantic Techno stuff and am trying to overcome that. Am trying to set up an 11G semantic tech baseline on a Linux box and am having difficulties getting everything loaded. Here is where I am at:
    1.     Installed JDK V5.
    2.     Installed Oracle 11Gr2 w/spatial and partitioning.
    3.     Installed Jena V 2.6.2 (jena-2.6.2.zip) IAW Oracle Semantic Technologies Developers guide.
    4.     Installed Jena Adaptor (jena_adaptor_for_release11-2.zip) IAW Oracle Semantic Technologies Developers guide.
    5.     Installed Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Release 1(10.3.1).
    6.     Installed Java 6.1.
    7.     Installed Joseki 3.4.0 IAW Oracle Semantic Technologies Developers guide.
    8.     Created J2EE data source in WebLogic Server admin console IAW Oracle Semantic Technologies Developers guide.
    9.     Completed the autodeploy tasks IAW Oracle Semantic Technologies Developers guide.
    10.     Restarted WebLogic Server.
    11.     Attempted to verify the deployment via web browser (http://localhost.localdomain:7001/joseki) and received an Error 404—Not Found From RFC 2068 message vice the Oracle SPARQL Service Endpoint page as expected.
Am at a loss … can anyone identify where I went wrong and how to fix this problem?

Here are the steps I used loading Joseki.
    1. Download and Install Oracle WebLogic Server 11g Release 1 (10.3.1). For details, see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/.
    2. Ensure that you have Java 1.6 installed, because it is required by Joseki 3.4.0.
    3. Download Joseki 3.4.0 (joseki-3.4.0.zip) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/joseki/files/Joseki-SPARQL/.
    4. Unpack joseki-3.4.0.zip into a temporary directory. For example:
    mkdir /tmp/joseki
    cp joseki-3.4.0.zip /tmp/joseki
    cd /tmp/joseki
    unzip joseki-3.4.0.zip
    5. Ensure that you have downloaded and unzipped the Jena Adaptor for Oracle Database, as explained in Section 7.1.
    6. Create a directory named joseki.war at the same level as the jena_adaptor directory, and go to it. For example:
    mkdir /tmp/joseki.war
    cd /tmp/joseki.war
    7. Copy necessary files into the directory created in the preceding step:
    cp /tmp/jena_adaptor/joseki/* /tmp/joseki.war
    cp -rf /tmp/joseki/Joseki-3.4.0/webapps/joseki/StyleSheets /tmp/joseki.war
    8. Create directories and copy necessary files into them, as follows:
    mkdir /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF
    cp /tmp/jena_adaptor/web/* /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF
    mkdir /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib
    cp /tmp/joseki/Joseki-3.4.0/lib/*.jar /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib
    cp /tmp/jena_adaptor/jar/*.jar /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib
    cp $ORACLE_HOME/md/jlib/sdordf.jar /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib
    cp $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/ojdbc6.jar /tmp/joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib
Note that in the last command, you can specify ojdbc6.jar instead of ojdbc5.jar if you are using JDK 6.
    9. Using the WebLogic Server Administration console, create a J2EE data source named OracleSemDS. During the data source creation, you can specify a user and password for the database schema that contains the relevant semantic data against which SPARQL queries are to be executed.
If you need help in creating this data source, see Section 7.2.1, "Creating the
Required Data Source Using WebLogic Server".
7.2.1 Creating the Required Data Source Using WebLogic Server
If you need help creating the required J2EE data source using the WebLogic Server admin console, you can follow these steps:
    1. Login to: http://<hostname>:7001/console
    2. In the Domain Structure panel, click Services.
    3. Click JDBC
    4. Click Data Services.
    5. In the Summary of JDBC Data Sources panel, click New under the Data Sources table.
    6. In the Create a New JDBC Data Source panel, enter or select the following values.
    Name: OracleSemDS
    JNDI Name: OracleSemDS
    Database Type: Oracle
Database Driver: Oracle's Driver (Thin) For Instance Connections Versions: 9.0.1,9.2.0,10,11
    7. Click Next twice.
    8. In the Connection Properties panel, enter the appropriate values for the Database Name, Host Name, Port, Database User Name (schema that contains semantic data), Password fields.
    DATABASE NAME: orcl
    HOST NAME: orcl.localdomain
    PORT: 1521
    DATABASE USWER NAME: nciuser
    PASSWORD: <password>
    CONFIRM PASSWORD: <password>
    9. Click Next.
    10. Select (check) the target server or servers) to which you want to deploy this OracleSemDS data source.
    11. Click Finish.
You should see a message that all changes have been activated and no restart is necessary.
    10. Go to the autodeploy directory of WebLogic Server and copy files, as follows.(For information about auto-deploying applications in development domains, see: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11035_01/wls100/deployment/autodeploy.html)
    cd <domain_name>/autodeploy
    cp -rf /tmp/joseki.war <domain_name>/autodeploy
In the preceding example, <domain_name> is the name of a WebLogic Server domain.
Note that while you can run a WebLogic Server domain in two different modes, development and production, only development mode allows you use the auto-deployment feature.
    11. Check the files and the directory structure, as in the following example:
    autodeploy/% ls -1R ./joseki.war/
    ./joseki.war:
    application.xml
    index.html
    joseki-config.ttl
    StyleSheets/
    update.html
    WEB-INF/
    xml-to-html.xsl
    ./joseki.war/StyleSheets:
    joseki.css
    ./joseki.war/WEB-INF:
    lib/
    web.xml
    ./joseki.war/WEB-INF/lib:

    stax-api-1.0.1.jar
    wstx-asl-3.2.9.jar
    xercesImpl-2.7.1.jar
    12. Start or restart WebLogic Server.
    13. Verify your deployment by using your Web browser to connect to a URL in the following format (assume that the Web application is deployed at port 7001): http://<hostname>:7001/joseki
You should see a page titled Oracle SPARQL Service Endpoint using Joseki, and the first text box should contain an example SPARQL query.
This is where I got the http error message instead of the Oracle SPARQL Service Endpoint using Joseki screen.

I am new to OWB so please let me know if I've left out any information that would help in figuring out why the installation is not completing.
    Thanks.

The only thing I can think of in OWB 11g is that the main schema that is used, which is OWBSYS, wasn't fully installed or it doesn't have all the tables or views it needs or they weren't created properly with the cat_owb.sal script.
Something must not have been created right. I would try to stop all OWB services with the appropriate scripts in:
    <your_owb_home>owb\rtp\sql
    try the stop_service.sql script.
Then try to drop the users owbsys and whatever you might have created (if it exists) for a workspace owner user. Then clean up with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\clean_owbsys.sql
After that it is back to the drawing board from the beginning. DO these steps again that you likely did in the first place:
    1. create owbsys with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\cat_owb.sql <tablespace_name>
    2. Set the control center home with:
    <your_owb_home>\owb\UnifiedRepos\reset_owbcc_home.sql <your_owb_home>
*pay attention to the case of the the OWB HOME you give as a variable to the above script.  It needs to match the case of your real path.
    3. Finally unlock owbsys.
    4. look at <your_owb_home>\owb\bin\admin\ if the rtrepos.properties file size is at '0'. If it is for some reason, rename it to something else right now.
    5. Then try to run the repository assistant again.

  • Problem in runtime environment

    Hello all
I have installed j2sdk 1.4.2 and setted all paths correctly
    recently I installed oracle 9i
it has replaced my java runtime environment with 1.3
(when I type java -version in the command window)
    how to fix that?

You need to update system environment variable called "PATH".
You will find oracle jre entry before jdk entry. Change the order.

  • Runtime Environment Problems

    Hey all -
new to Java and I have been able to run most of my applications / applets however, my first attempt at accessing a database I continually get the following error:
    Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
has value '1.3', but '1.4' is required.
    Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
Don't know why all of a sudden I am receiving this error. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

You have (at least parts) 2 different JRE's in the machine. I'm guessing that you installed an IDE with an older version of java on top of a newer version? If, not you might explain what was done, to facilitate additional diagnosis.
However, the problem is that a Registry key - the one mentioned - has the wrong value. You can correct the key if you know what it should be and know how, or you can uninstall in reverse order of installs, and then reinstall the version you want.
Search these forums for the error, there are many threads with much detail.

  • SSL-Problems when setting up a test environment with Exchange

    Hello everyone,
I am trying to set up a test environment with Exchange 2013 to learn how the stuff works. However, I am facing some problems due to the fact that Exchange is designed for use with SSL certificates. The main thing that makes problems is the connection with
RPC over HTTP. I've used the MS remote connectivity analyzer to find out why it is not working and as I thought it is because of a missing SSL certificate (it seems the self signed doesn't work here). Now in order to get this working I just bought a certificate
for "mydomain.com". Now here is the first problem: This certificate is NOT a wildcard certificate. So if I understood correctly it works for mydomain.com but it won't work for subdomain.mydomain.com. Is this correct? (First question)
If this is correct I will probably another problem: As I said this is a learning-environment so the server is at home behind a router. This means: Only one WAN-IP. I think could get this working by forwarding everything to the Exchange Server (like mydomain.com
goes to the WAN-IP where the router is forwarding everything like port 25 or 443 directly to the exchange Server). This way I wouldn't have any problems I think: mydomain.com has a valid SSL cert, it resolves to my WAN-IP which forwards everything to the internal
Exchange Server. Now here is the problem: I plan to setup a SharePoint Server as well. I thought about using ARR (IIS) to make both available behind the same WAN-IP without using ports inside the url. Ideally the Exchange Server should then be available via
"mail.mydomain.com". This will work fine with ARR but then I probably have SSL problems again? (second question)
Do you have any ideas what I can do to solve such problems? Should I buy another certificate for mail.mydomain.com? But then I would need to buy several certificates (e.g. for autodiscover.mydomain.com to get this working as well). This can become very expensive...
    Thanks!
    Regards
    Christian

    Hi,
For your first question, if there is a single certificate just for “mydomain.com”, it cannot work for subdomain.mydomain.com.
Generally, antodiscover.domain.com is used to access the autodiscover service for external users. If you just need test users to access Exchange server from internal environment, it is not necessary to get a certificate for autodiscover.domain.com.
Therefore, for your second question what I can ensure is that if all URLs that used to connect Exchange from internal and external are configured to mail.mydomain.com with all services(IIS,SMTP,POP,IMAP), there will be no certificate problems in Exchange
    side.

It is likely that you either don't have Java installed, or you have an out of data version. Go to [http://www.java.com www.java.com], and download and install the version of Java that is for your computer. After doing that, you should be all good to go.

    10.3.4 is PatchSet 3.
I recommend using the correct identifier. There is an Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse OTN forum also that is probably better for this question.

Why is the Registry invalid? Unless you can assure that this is the only error, it's probably better to uninstall Java and reinstall it, that way any additional errors can also be resolved.

    Please Help.

I know this is a relatively old post, but some people can stumble on this page when doing a search for this problem.
Anyway, I ran into this on my PC after I installed Sybase which had an older jre.
    Solution:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Look for Java Runtime Environment
You may have to do multiple searches. Eventually you'll find one with the version number.
    3. Modify the value and change it to the correct version number. (in your case, you would have changed it from 1.4 to 1.6).
This is much quicker than reinstalling Java every time installing something that uses an older version of Java hoses up the registry value.

    Thanks a lot.
HASPJava.dll is used by verification  License and is invoked less and can't use a lot of native memory.
Our business is communicating between java and COM component. In order to implement it, we used JavaCom to generate java class for COM component.
Memory of COM component is little, but Native Memory is high.
Who used JavaCom and did you meet this problem?
Please give me some suggestions. Thanks a lot.

  • The registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime environment installation

I was having trouble running some Java programs (not my own) in Windows XP, and in the process I uninstalled and installed JRE versions 6, 7, and 8, one at a time, probably in the order 7, 8, 7, 6, 7. The program that had the original problem only worked in V6, but some other programs stopped working. I went back to V7, and those other programs still didn't work. The message was "the registry refers to a nonexistent java runtime environment installation". The only advice I could find with Web searches was to reinstall the JRE. Needless to say, that didn't work.
So I looked at the registry, and I found that there were still references to V8, which had been uninstalled. The first was
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jarfile\shell\open\command - (Default) = "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_31\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "%1" %*
The folder re1.8.0_31 doesn't exist, so I changed it to jre7. That didn't work.
    Then I found
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment - CurrentVersion = 1.8
I changed this to 1.7, and deleted some following entries such as
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.8 - JavaHome = C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_31
    retaining entries such as
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.7 - JavaHome = C:\Program Files\Java\jre7
    That worked!
So, there is a bug in the installer(s): if you uninstall V8 and install V7, the 'CurrentVersion' isn't set correctly, with the result that the registry points to a non-existent folder. The V8 uninstallation should delete these entries, or the V7 installation should change them.
Question: Where do I report this bug? Or, better still, would someone report if for me? :-)

    Hello,
Here's a direct link to the place to report bugs: http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/index.jsp
I would recommend that maybe you see if it hasn't been reported already before submitting it.
    Hope it goes!

  • Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash.

    ...This is really annoying.
I work with adobe cs5. Recently, it started to not work. I would have to restart it over and over to get it to compile an swf properly. So I am trying cs5.5. I get this error "Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    So im like OK....Thats helpful....
    -reinstalls flash-
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    -reinstalls java-
    -reinstalls flash-
    -reinstalls adobe flash cs5.5-
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    -google-
So I come across this post. Follow it exactly.
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
I change the thingy in the file to Xmx1024M
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
    I come to the forums.
    What do I do now?

    Intro:
Finally I got near to roots of that mysterious Error
"Error initializing Java Runtime Environment.  You may need to reinstall Flash."
So here is what I'm found out + Bugfix
    JavaPatch for Adobe Flash CS5 / CS6...     Ver #1 [ 21.01.2014 ]
    ======================================
This is the fix the bug in Flash tell you all the time that
Java could not be loaded. The effect of this error is that
    Actionscript will not work.
Flash gives a little misleading error messages that tells you that
"There is no Actionscript in the current Project"
    background information:
The problem is that the Java Virtual Machine.dll demands on startup
250MB huge contiguous memory blocks, but the 2GB-Virtual address
space of the Flash.exe process is already filled with various loaded dll's
BEFORE you continue ensure that you install/copied JRE 1.8.0 update 31 to
    %ProgramData%\Adobe\CS5\jre\
For testing check if ...Adobe\CS5\jre\bin\java.exe starts
(and shows a help about available commands)
The Patch is for 32-bit version only!
(however the problem is probably not in the 64-Bit Version - since there a process has a much large more 'space')
    Well SIMPLE FIX / Workaround:
Use 64-Bit version of Adobe Flash !
    TechDetails:
Java's JVM.dll loaded in Ollydebug -  The patched / change bytes are red.
^-Note that String ASCII "NUMA page alloc..." - will be a great 'link' to easily find that location in other JVM-versions to applied the patch there. Open jvm.dll in Ollydebug open String Ref. Windows and search for the string...
    Download instructions:
Right click on picture above and download it.
    Drag/open  the *.jpg in / into Winrar / 7-Zip
    OR
    Rename 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z.jpg' -> 'Flash-CSX-jvm-JavaPatch #1.7z' so you open it by doubleclick
-> My creative solution for that A-Dope-board missing 'Attach file feature'
    Tested:
    with Adobe Flash CS5 + JRE 1.8.0 update 31
    More Techstuff:
Some of my notes that might be useful:
Note the memory is not real allocated in the way it can be use since to write or read from it is just allocated as
MEM_RESERVE like you see in the screenshot above. And freed just a little alter.
It seems that java just checks if it could possible the maximal the JVM is made for.
Note the problem is not that you have to less physical RAM installed.
It's more related how memory is organise.
Well in 32 Bit each process has 4GB (or well practically Windows limits this to 2GB).
    0x00000000 to 0x7FFF0000
This space is virtual and not actually claimed (else you would very quickly run out of RAM) but it a kind of potential or Adress system. Na sorry that'll be to offtopic to explain all the basic's about memory.
    Adobe Flash CS5 calls
    jvm.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM( OUT **p_vm, OUT **p_env, IN *vm_args);
    The 'vm_args'
    typedef struct JavaVMInitArgs {
        jint version;  00010004
      1. /* user classes */
      -D java.class.path=
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\asc_authoring.jar;
      C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5\Common\"...
      2. /* set native library path */
      -D java.library.path=
      C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre\bin
      3.
      -D java.Home=C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CS5\jre
      4. classpath append
      -X bootclasspath/a:
      C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7\jre\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
      5. Headless mode is a system configuration in which the display device, keyboard, or mouse is lacking. Headless mode support has been available since the J2SE 1.4 platform.
      -D java.awt.headless=true
        jboolean ignoreUnrecognized; 1
    } JavaVMInitArgs;
So for any further exploration about this Java problem setting a breakpoint to 'JVM.dll!JNI_CreateJavaVM' will be a great startpoint

  • Message error "Define an assignment set in the runtime repository"

    Hello Experts,
I'm creating a new component and when I'll assign the view created to be displayed in the screen the follow message appears "Define an assignment set in the runtime repository".
    Best regards,
    Caíque Escaler

    Hi,
I am sure that when you Click on your view in component workbench, this message must be flashing up.
Correct me if i am wrong.
Now first thing is its not an error but an info message.
There is nothing wrong in your developments. It just the fact that just creating a view does not mean we can use it. To use it, you must assign it to either a Window or a View Set or an Overview page in Runtime repository and thats why system tell you that you must do the view assignment.
Go to the runtime repositoy and assign the view. Now whether it to be assigned to a viewset, overviewpage or window, depends upon your requirement. If your view is Assignement Block, you will attach it to an overviewpage . If its a separate edit/display view then you may attach it in existing viewset or Main Window.
You can also create an empty window and attach your view to it..Ultimately view assignment completely depends upon what you want the view to be used as.
    Hope it solves your problem.
    Regards,
    Suchita
