Problem showing remote systems in MAX

I am having trouble viewing traces set up on remote systems in Max.  I am using version 4.7.0f4  Whenever I try to set up a new remote system, it cannot find any remote computers.  I have tried using both the computer name (which is resolved to an IP address in the hosts file) and the just IP address.  I get this error:  "Unable to initialize connection to remote system(s)."
it's: agilent 34980a. i'm trying to reach it through global network but when i'm at the place where i have my device in local network everything is working fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi jacur,
Can you give more details? Which protocol would you like to use to connect to the device? It may appear under Devices and Interfaces if you use certain protocols.
Does the Agilent 34980 support communication over global network? Is the network gateway configure in the device? Are you sure your firewall not blocking MAX communication?
Have you installed a software that makes MAX able to find the device on network? You can check the Instrument Driver Network... may be this driver is useful: http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=5871

  • MAX does not show Remote System tab in tree

    Hi dear all,
i have installed LabView 2010 and along that MAX 4.7.7 on my Laptop Visat OS. Problem that i am facing is that my MAX tree "Remote System" Tab is not visible. Only My System tab is visible and its showing all installed software and devices correctly.
    1. What settings i need to check to get this tab shown in tree?
    2. Do i need to install some other software or patches or re-install what softwares?
    3. Why is it happening to me?
Kindly help me with your valuable experiences.

    Hello Awais,
There are a few places that indicate the Real-Time Module has been succesfully installed. I am attaching screenshots of the following locations that indicate that this is the case:
-'Remote Systems' under Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
    -NI License Manager
    -LabVIEW splash screen
If the Real-Time module/option appears in the locations listed above, there should be no reason for you to have to uninstall or re-install your software. If there are other indicators such as error messages or the module does not appear in these locations, please attach screenshots and a detailed description. We can then discuss if uninstalling or reinstalling the software is the next best option.

  • VISA does not recognize remote system in MAX

I've been trying to setup instrument cards in a PXIe chassis, and I am having trouble getting VISA to recognize them.  From reading some of the other posts related to VISA Resource Names, I found that you should be able to drag and drop devices from NI MAX into a Labview Block Diagram, and it will automatically create a VISA Resource Control for the device.  I am able to do this for devices installed on "My System" (COM1 for example), but when I try to do it from "Remote System", is just drops the name in a text block.  If I try to create a VISA Resource Control directly, the drop-down only shows the devices on My System.  I've even tried to switch the VISA class for the control.  Still can't get VISA to recognize the remote devices.  Please Advise.
    Working with Labview 2012 SP1 f5

    VISA 5.4 installed on PC
    VISA 5.4 installed on controller

  • Data request deletion problem from remote system.

    Hi experts.
Now i am facing one critical problem . The description is as following:
we design the edw level in one phsical BW machine(A) which contains only dso infoprovider. This machine(A) works as datasource to provide data to another physical BW machine(B).
The dso in A system is exported as datasource , Cubes in B system load data through this datasource .
We first do the initialization with data contained on B system and then load delta data from A system. But if we want to delete some request in system A ,the system indicate this request can not be deleted unless the initialization in system B is deleted( this will lead to all the data missing in system B).
Can anyone explain this mechanism to me , please help me suggesting some kind of methods to delete the request in system A without deleting the initialization information in system B.
    Thanks in advance.
Waiting online for your kindly reply.

    1. Ask your Basis to look into it.
    2. try analyse your Baqckground Process in SM51.
    3. Is your Deletion Job started immediately or any Delay?
    4. If That cube or ODS has only this request which you are deleting, go with Context Menu Cube or ODS (by right click) --> Delete Contents.
Delete Contents will improve performence compare to Request Deletion..
If you have request more than this, you should not go for this.

  • PXI not showing up properly in MAX

    Hey everyone,
I'm new to setting up remote systems in MAX and I'm having some difficulty.  I'm using all LabVIEW 2011 versions of software with FPGA and RT modules.  I'll start by listing the hardware I am using:
    PXI-1042 Chassis
    PXI-8110 Embeeded Controller
    PXI-8231 Ethernet
    PXI-6704 Analog Output
    PXI-6602 Timing I/O
    PXI-7813R Reconfigurable I/O
Of this list I am using the 8231 to connect to the chassis and I am primarily interested in using and getting working the RIO more so than the other cards right now.  Here is what I have done so far and what has happened.
When I first plugged it in nothing showed up in MAX and so I did some searching and found that if I change the BIOS options and set them to LabVIEW RT and set the 'Reset IP Address' to 'Yes' that I could see the NI-PXI8110 in the remote systems directory.  Under this is says that it is connected but there is no software installed.  If you click on the software directory, a list of software appears so I'm not sure why it says nothing is installed but there is software listed.
Now even though there are all these cards in the PXI, nothing shows up under Devices and Interfaces.  I tried to 'Create New...' by right clicking on it and then clicking on PXI Chassis, but I get an error that the the host only supports PXI Platform Services 2.0.0 or greather and that the target has earlier version.  So I made sure that I had the latest PXI Platform Services (3.0.3) and I then I tried to follow the instructions by updating the VISA software it should update the PXI Platform Services on the target.  Now it won't let me do this without updating a bunch of other software on the target such as LabVIEW RT - current it has 10 and it needs 11.  This wouldn't be a big deal but then another error comes up where I need a newer version of Hypervisor (target currently has 1.1).  I downloaded Hypervior 2.0 and tried to install on my host and then subsequently add to target.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit and there seams to be a support issue because it doesn't show up and the installer says it can't install certain parts due to incompatibility issues.  Then I thought I'd try to install it directly to the embedded controller on the target by hooking up a monitor/keyboard/mouse.  Even though the keyboard works in the BIOS, when at the Windows login screen I have no USB keyboard or mouse support therefore, I cannot login.
So there are a bunch of problems it seems that are plaguing me getting this system set up and running.  I'm not sure where else to look and hopeully someone more knowledgable can give me some guidance.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Hypervisor systems are a relatively new thing for NI as well, it allows you to run Windows and RT on the same system concurrently (one core goes to Windows, other cores assigned to RT).  One interesting tidbit is that Windows and RT use different disk partitions, and the other tidbit is that when you're in "Hypervisor Mode" versus "RT Mode" you will have some collisions with software on the target.
It's unclear as to what you're trying to do with the system, are you trying to run Windows on the PXI controller and program/use the FPGA from the Windows environment, or are you wanting to use the PXI controller as an RT system and use the FPGA on the RT system in a "headless system" environment?
If you're going to use the system in RT mode, by setting the BIOS option to "LabVIEW RT" in the boot options, you must install LabVIEW RT.  In the previous Hypervisor mode, Hypervisor RT + all the components were probably installed, but in this LabVIEW RT mode you need "Normal LabVIEW RT" + all the components.  The system telling you there's no software installed is because none of the drivers are being loaded because you elected to boot "Normal RT" and the "Hypervisor RT" OS is on the system (instead of the "Normal RT OS").
There is an easy and safe thing to do here.  Instead of booting "LabVIEW RT", boot "LabVIEW RT Safe Mode" and then go to MAX and right-click the device in MAX and say "Format Disk".  This will safely format the RT partition, bringing it to a clean slate, and you can then install software and LabVIEW Real-Time to the controller.  Then you can put it back into "LabVIEW RT" mode and use the controller like a regular RT controller.  When your colleagues want to use it as hypervisor, they can put it back into "Windows/Other" mode and then reinstall Hypervisor onto the controller.

  • Why can I not find my hardware of RT system in MAX?

My test sytem include RT system based on PXI bus and Windows system installed in industrial PC.They are connected by LAN.
After I install the RT system and drivers, I can find all hardware of RT system through Remote system in MAX. But if I replace my hardware or controller in RT system.Always I can not find my hardware in MAX. So I must refresh in MAX continuously until I can find.

    s_yy,
Is the problem that you cannot find the hardware in MAX at all or that it requires refreshing for it to appear?
When you change/replace the hardware in your RT PXI system, you have to refresh the view in MAX in order for it to detect the changes - this will not occur automatically. You can refresh all items in MAX (View > Refresh) or you can refresh each item individually when it is selected. Keep in mind it may take some time for the hardware to initialize before you can detect it in MAX.

  • MAX missing entire remote systems section in tree

I have found lots of stuff about RT devices not being seen by max, but I don't see anything about the entire remote system section not showing up. I did a repair on max, checked that the drivers were there, have RT installed (as shown in picture) etc etc. Anyone know why this might be missing?

Only complete uninstall of everything and reinstall of 2009 +plus 2010 without device drivers (I was scared) fixed my system.  lost two days to this issue at a time critical period.  Posts here went unanswered.  Lost sleep etc.  I am starting to believe that running virtual OS's is the way to go... cause this is unacceptable.. and I even had beta tested 2010 with device drivers without issue... it was after installing the released version with device drivers that I had a problem!
Hm maybe I'll try your approach after R&D looks into it more. Uninstalling & Reinstalling to try different configurations is a pain because, as you said, it's incredibly time consuming.

  • Remote system disconnected after installing MAX 4.7.3

    Hello!
This topic is related to the topic you can find here.
In order to repair the Regional Settings issue in Windows (XP in my case) I used the System Configuration 1.1.3 update and it seems to work. I changed the Regional Settings to my local and installed the update. Silverlight does not crash anymore, so that is fixed. However, this created a new issue:
Now my remote devices (NI-1742 and NI-1746) status is always "disconnected". The devices are connected to a different subnet than the development computer. Pinging their IPs showed that they are there. I can connect to the cameras using the Real-time Project. However, in MAX the remote system status remains "disconnected". I tried to delete and re-create the devices in MAX but that did not work either.
I also tried the latter with Windows firewall on and off and updated the software with NI Update Service. On an another computer, which has not had the update yet, I can connect to and modify the devices.
In addition, I completely reinstalled the development system, but the issue persists.
    Kind regards,
    Mart
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hey Mart,
It looks like this may be related to a possible bug introduced in MAX 4.7.3. I've uploaded Juurma.zip to our FTP site. Please obtain this .zip file by navigating to ftp://ftp.ni.com/outgoing.
This .zip file contains a patched version of mxRmCfg.dll. First, close all NI software and stop the NI System Web Server service and all its dependencies (you can get to your services by going to Start->Run and typing in services.msc). Then, navigate to this directory: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\MAX\Bin
You will need to rename the existing mxRmCfg.dll to mxRmCfg.bak, and copy the new version to that location. Restart your system, open MAX, and see if you can connect to and view your targets.
If this resolves your issue, PLEASE post back in this thread indicating as much. If not, let us know and we'll continue to investigate. Note that items on our FTP server will be removed after 48 hours, so let me know if you're unable to get that file in time

  • Remote Resources: "A problem with the system proxy caused the connection to fail: End of file"

Hi, I am trying to use "Remote Resources" on the current version of the Microsoft Remote Desktop for Android app, I can input the webfeed and it even shows the apps that I have configured on the server for "Remote App", sadly whenever
I try to load any of the RemoteApps, I receive an error stating " A problem with the system proxy caused the connection to fail. End of File".
I don't know what I can do to fix this, I've tried many things to no avail, also, normal Remote Desktop connections from the Microsoft Android app work flawlessly to the server.

I have written a UDP chriper as a way to solve this problem in the past, however, it seems that NI has allready solved this problem and I'd rather use what comes in the box.
Existing APIs or documentation would be great.

There is a Find Systems VI on the Real-Time / RT Utilities / System Configuration palette that can find some things (like PXIs) on the network.

  • Max crash under "Remote systems"

Most of the time when MAX will crash when the mouse is clicked over the cRIO-9014 icon under remote systems.
Is there a fix for this? MAX 4.5 and VISA 4.4 are the software installed in the targets. See jpg file for items under remote systems.

    Anna,
The mouse can be clicked to open all of the remote system objects but when the mouse is clicked over Ni-cRIO9014-013DBB8D, the Ni-cRIO9014-013DBB48 or the "Devices and Interfaces" icons MAX freezes (mouse icon becomes an hour glass). There are no warnings and after waiting for about 10 minutes I click the close button on the top right hand corner. See jpg message for the response.
I've made a project with the cRIO 9014 and Ni9211 modules and it does work (can record tempeature). It seems to occur more often because I was able to get the URL for the project by clicking on the Ni-cRIO9014013DBB8D but now I'm not able to anymore.
Hope this helps to better define the problem.

How do I uninstall Mackeeper?  I have dragged it into trash, but it still showing in systems information and causing problems!
    Please advise

How to uninstall MacKeeper - updated
    How to Remove MacKeeper
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

  • Problem Deploying Custom Transformation Provider to Remote System

    Hello Experts,
I have successfully created a custom XML Transformation Provider/transformer and deployed it to my local development system and to a remote sandbox system. We are using NWDI and the transformation provider is within the context of a DC.  However, I am deploying to both my local dev and the remote sandbox systems using the u201CQuick PAR Uploadu201D in NWDS.
After deploying the same PAR to both my local portal and the remote sandbox systems I can see the new service is deployed in both portals (System Administation -> Support -> Runtime -> etc..).  I can also see the service registered successfully in the portal registryu2014again, in both systems.
Everything works fine on my local dev when I run code to retrieve and apply the custom transformer to source XML.  The new transformer is also available when creating an XML iView.   However, I cannot retrieve or use the new transformer (u201Cno such transformeru201D errors) using the same code on the remote sandbox system.  Also, the new transformer is not available when using the XML iView wizard.
It seems the custom transformation provider is deploying successfully on the remote system, but the transformer is not.
Both systems are ostensibly identical, NW 7.0 EP SPS14.  The credentials Iu2019m using when performing the Quick PAR Upload have Administrator/Super Admin Role privileges.  (I even tried uploading the PAR directly into the portal using the Admin Console to see if that made a differenceu2026it did not).
Any ideas why a transformer would not be available after a custom transformation provider deploys without any apparent errors to the remote system?
    Thanks for your time!

    Hi,
I presume this issue is not that common.
Any ideas on where to look (logs) for results after a PAR is deployed to the server?  I do not see any errors in the defaultTrace related to the deployment and I've looked through other logs, too.  In any case, the "custom" transformation provider service appears in the portal, but I still don't see the tranformer itself.
    Thanks again,
    Dave

  • Regarding fieldpoint, why doesn't cFP show up under remote systems

We have a cFP2000 that was configured on another computer last year which is now being tranferred to a different computer. Currently I am trying to install fieldpoint. Under remote systems, I do not see the cFPsystem device. When I right click remote systmes, I click on fieldpoint but I do not know the IP address to continue further. Is it possible that the switches on the Fieldpoint may be set wrong, such as the safe mode...or that the ethernet wiring may be wrong, although I am pretty sure this is okay...

    Hi biom,
I'm assuming you're connecting your computer and the cFP-2000 directly, is that correct? If so, please make sure the settings and cable requirement in the following article are met:
Connecting a Fieldpoint Controller Directly to an Ethernet Card
You may want to reset the IP address of your controller (by setting the reset dip switch to on, power cycle the controller, flip switch back to off position, then power on system). You should then see the controller with an IP address of 0.0.0.0.
    Thanks,
    Lesley Y.
