  • Cannot start dcm-daemon on mid tier

    Hi,
    recently I had problems on starting the dcm-daemon on mid tier. I know that starting the iasconsole should also start the dcm-daemon (and any dcm client) but for 2 days now this component fails to start. The opmnctl status shows that for quite a long period it's state is "Init" then it goes down. Any opmnctl operation that tries to deal with this component (like startproc ias-component="dcm-daemon") will hang for a long time (untill I kill the operation).
    In the dcm-daemon~dcm-daemon~1 logfile the only entry I can see is:
    date time Start process
    Using a top, I can see that 100% of the cpu is taken by the dcm-daemon process.
    All the other components seem to work fine, their status is "Alive".
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply. I did what you've suggested but any dcmctl command I tried to execute would hang. No response,I always have to kill the command. There is nothing in the log files that would give me a clue what's going on.
    The preliminary steps that leed to this state was to unset the "ssl-enabled" setting on the infrastructure site's opmn.xml and to run the dcmctl updateconfig (again, on the infra site). We had to do that because portal was not working with this setting.
    Than we started to see that something is fishy because the ias console was very slow. When I cliked on the HTTP Server settings link (on the mid. tier) the properties page would never come up. Than I took a quick look on the output of opmnctl status and noticed that dcm-daemon was either down or in the "init" state consuming almost 100% CPU.
    I created a very simple opmn.xml containing only the dcm-daemon as the soley ias-component but no success there. I replaced my httpd.conf with the httpd.conf.default thinking that something might be wrong with my httpd.conf. dcm-daemon would not start up either.
    I'm not sure what other options I have.

    Hi Daniel,
    We checked the OID log file and its showing that OID is up and running. Also showing the process id in OIDCTL.log file
    09/12/09 13:28:55 Start process
    oidctl:oidmon is not running on idm-ar.co.in, waiting for a few seconds...
    oidctl:Waiting for oidmon to start OIDLDAPD (instance=1)
    oidctl:Started OIDLDAPD (instance=1) with PID : 20455 successfully
    But we are not able to login to OID.
    Can you please guide me how to solve this issue and bring up OID. Its very urgent.

  • Problem to start store daemon

    hello,
    i have installed a Messaging server 5.2 with hotfix 1.21 on a directory server 5.2. When i start the messaging, the store don't start. On the log i have the message :
    [03/May/2004:11:55:55 +0200] ps4543 stored[1368]: Store Critical: stored: Can not start stored. Looks like imapd is already running.
    I have stop all services with the cmd stop-msg and restart with the cmd start-msg, and i have the same messsage.
    can you help me, please.

    And if you contine to have problems starting stored, get a directory listing of your store/mboxlist directory. Note particularly how many files, "log*" you have. More than 2 is a warning that your store system has not been keeping up. In this condition. store will report that it cannot when in fact, it has started, but has moved into a "recovery" mode, while it walks these transaction logs, and is updating the database subsystem.
    Eventually, it will complete, but if you need the system up, you can follow this proceedure:
    1. Stop the recovering store process. Use kill on any stored processes that are running.
    2. remove all log* files from the mboxlist directory. No other files, just log*
    3. Start the Messaging Server. It should start normally.
    4. Run reconstruct -m, to recover the data you deleted in step 2.

  • IAS console doesn't work due DCM daemon failure

    Hi,
    I've got a problem with IAS console recently.
    When I try to open Application or Administration tabs for my OC4J Instance I get an error message:

    </msg>
    </process>
    </process-set>
    </process-type>
    </ias-component>
    opmnctl status shows that dcm-daemon process is down.
    When I try start process
    opmnctl startproc process-type=dcm-daemon
    got error:
    no enabled components for this request
    emctl start iasconsole doesn't help
    What is the problem and where look for solution?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How do I fix problem system launch daemons?

    Hi there,
    I recently upgraded to Yosemite and immediately my Wired memory started taking over my RAM.  I'm down to a crawl and have spent days trying to figure out what's going on.  I've repaired the drive and reinstalled twice, etc.  I did find through EtraCheck that I had failed problem system launch daemons.  Could those be my problem?  If so, what do I do to fix them?

  • Problem starting MySql with MAMP

    Is there to MySql? any Idea how to manage the running one or how to fix the problem?

    MAMP includes both Apache and MySQL as separate applications. It won't manage another install of MySQL.

  • [SOLVED] Trac standalone server refusing to start as daemon

    Dear people,
    Few months ago I set up trac to manage/access my svn repositories at work. The standalone tracd server got started as daemon from rc.conf, authentication with htdigest, everything was just fine.  Yesterday I realized that tracd was not reachable, and trying a start/restart:
    # /etc/rc.d/tracd start
    Usage: tracd [options] [projenv] ...
    tracd: error: no such option: --auth '*',/srv/GroupWiki/htdigest,MyDomain.org
    The relevant part of /etc/conf.d/tracd is:
    PORT=80
    AUTH="'*',/srv/proj1/htdigest,MyDomain.org"
    PROJECT="/srv/proj1 /srv/proj2"
    Thing is, if I start tracd from the command line using those same options, it runs fine:
    # tracd -p 80 --auth "'*',/srv/proj1/htdigest,MyDomain.org" /srv/proj1 /srv/proj2
    Server starting in PID 25260.
    Serving on 0.0.0.0:80 view at http://127.0.0.1:80/
    Using HTTP/1.1 protocol version
    Any hint?

    Thanks Pingwinski! There is a problem with quoting, but not in the tracd.conf. Well, I had to edit the /etc/rc.d/tracd file to remove the extra quoting around "$AUTH" (and by the way, remove the $SINGLE variable, I didn't find any definition or reference to that...!!
    Before:
    tracd $SINGLE -d $HOSTNAME $PORT "$AUTH" $PROJECT
    After:
    tracd -d $HOSTNAME $PORT $AUTH $PROJECT
    In conf.d/tracd.conf the line doesn't need extra escaping, i.e. is working like this:
    AUTH="'*',/srv/project/htdigest,MyDomain.org"
    Sending a message to the maintainer to take a look at this.

    Could someone help me on this issue...

    Use netstat to see what's listening on port 80. Perhaps a web server or something?
    It looks like you're trying to start a server that's partially running already, so you will want to check what processes are running, too

  • Starting mysql daemon hangs applescript studio app

    hi,
    i am currently writing a small application with applescript studio that starts an apache server and a mysql database.
    Starting apache via a 'do shell' command is no problem at all but starting mysql with this command
    do shell script "/pathto/mysqldsafe --port=2323 --somemoreoptions &"
    hangs my application.
    Executing the command in a shell works well.
    I guess the problem is that firing the command (in the terminal) causes the terminal to return to the command prompt (username:~ username$ ) pretty immediatley. But after one or two seconds there are some more information echoed to the shell ('Starting mysqld daemon with databases from pathto_datadir').
    Maybe this confuses my app and it starts waiting for things that will never end.
    My current workaround is to open the terminal and to execute the command there:
    tell application "Terminal"
      do script "pathto/mysqldsafe --port=3023 --somemoreoptions &"
      delay 1
      if terminalwasopen is equal to false then
        quit
      else
        close window 1
      end if
    end tell
    Any ideas how to get rid off this wokaround and how to manage this with a simple 'do shell script'?
    Thanks in advance.
    i++
    PowerBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    This issue is discussed in the do shell script technote.
    Specifically, even though you tell the process to background (by appending the &), AppleScript still holds onto the process' stdout and stderr, waiting for the output of the command.
    The solution is to suppress or redirect stdout and stderr, e.g.:
    do shell script "/pathto/mysqldsafe --port=2323 --somemoreoptions > /dev/null 2>&1 &"
    The '> /dev/null' suppresses stdout (which could go to a file if you prefer), and '2>&1' sends stderr to the same place as stdout.
    Incidentally, I assume you have some check to ensure apache and/or mysql aren't already active, right? This would cause a problem if mysql is already running.

  • Tabs only open in a new window. Ctl T opens a new window NOT a new tab help-last update this problem started. How do I set FF back to open tabs in 1 window

    Tabs only open in a new window. Ctl T opens a new window NOT a new tab help-last update this problem started 2 days ago. How do I set FF back to open tabs in 1 window?
    There is no plus sign and going into optins and changing settings has not worked. I have uninstall FF and reinstall-keeping my personalization-and that was no help.
    Right clicking on FF Icon to open a new tab, or going up to FF drop down tab and clicking on new tab both do not work.
    Help everything opens a new window not a new tab. there seems to be no way to reset this or to chose a different optin. I just downloaded new tabs at end addon and it didn't do a thing.

    as a first troubleshooting step - does it work like normally when you open & run firefox in [[Safe Mode|safemode]] by pressing the shift key while you open firefox (all other instances have to be closed before)...

    Purchased a new Apple TV and the remote double clicks each time I press the button. It worked fine during set up and for the first two days.  I have since moved it and this problem started. Restarted,reset,unplugged,changed remotes, no change. Latest software update. This is really annoying.  iPhone remote app works just fine.  Any suggestions?

    That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
    So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
    But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...
