Problem starting Presentation Service

Hi,
I am using Oracle BI in RHEL 5. All services(BI Publishers, Analytics etc.) were running perfectly till yesterday afternoon. But from yesterday evening I am not able to access presentation services(analytics). BI Publisher is OK. I tried restarting the services in the following sequences.
run-saw.sh stop
run-sa.sh stop
sa-init.sh
run-sa.sh start
run-saw.sh start
But my sawlog0.log file shows some errors. Also when I am executing the command run-saw.sh stop it says that Presentation Service is not running. I looked the Application server control and checked the status of analytics from the application tab. The status is Up. Can anyone help me please. Can I solve this without reinstalling Oracle BI. if this doesn't work copy the shared folder in the sample sales report and create a new folder and make it online
after that restart the presentation server, then paste the shared folder into newly created folder

First of all,rpd should be in synchronization with the database in order to get the data.
So,you need to create ODBC as in the earlier reply.
than you need to give the details of odbc in connection pool of rpd.
than test the connection by rightclick on table in physical layer and click update row count option if your table gets updated then you will make sure that your rpd is in sync with database.

Hello Rakesh,
I tried the following and it worked for me !! I can start the Presentation services now. You might want to check these 2 things:
1) C:\OracleBI\server\Config\ NQSconfig.INI check which rpd file is there
2) C:\OracleBIData\web\config \ instanceconfig.xml see which one is there
Note: If Samplesales is creating problem. Creat one more folder there called Samplesales1 and provide the path of samplesales1 instead of samplesales in instanceconfic.xml file.
Make sure there must be only one folder under one name(check here : C:\OracleBIData\web\catalog) ,or it will create problem.

Unable to start presentation services in obiee 10g

Hi,
Everythig is fine untill I restart the machine. I havent done any changes before restarting my mahcine. Once restarted the presenttion services are not starting.
Error: "Windows could not start BI Presentation server on local computer.For more information,review the system event log.if this is non-microsoft service,contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code-1".
I have checked instanceconfig.xml and catalog folders, paths, rpd etc.. But no use.
sawlog file give me the error:
Allocation of SQLEnvironment failed (SQLError: -1). Please ensure that the odbc driver is in your environment path.
How to resove it..

Need few checks from your side:
1) Start BI Server and open RPD line mode, if you able to open then check instanceconfig file to make sure the tag is
<DSN>AnalyticsWeb</DSN> is matching with ODBC dsn for 'Oracle BI Server'
If this looks good then
2) use different name for tag CatalogPath from instanceconfig file and start the Presentation service
let us know updates
Make sure you have this in path Drive:\OracleBI\server\Bin

To make ibots work I ran the cryptotools and made all changes in Job Manager and then tried to restart all the services. I could start all the services except presentation and schedule services. And it gives me error " Windows could not start the Oracle Presentation Server on Local Computer. For more information, review the system Event Log. Unable to start Presentation Services- Windows 7

Hi,
I'm unable to start the Presentation Services , when i do so i am getting a message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Windows 7 ultimate.
All services started like BI server, BI Presentation and Java Host
Installation were successful, able to open Repository.
BI Publisher is also getting started.
I need to look into the Answers, unable to start the Presentation Services, any help is very much appreciated !

Can you past it sawlog0.log message also Make sure below points (just double check and test it)
1) Check your instanceconfig.XML file (better if u have back up plz restore it then change it u r current catalog)
2) In the RPD, go to Manage -> Variables. Look through your initialization blocks and see if any are being used to set the USER variable.
3) make sure if have LDAP settup (external table via init blog)
4) if you can back of your RPD,Catalog restore it then try to access it (for testing) if its works then u r current issue catalog may be corrupted webcat
if your providing sawlog0.log ..it will be easy to find the issues

For sure your webcat is corrupted..try creating a blank catalog or fix the old one. Also, check your instanceconfig.xml once whether the xml is not corrupted ??

Not able to start presentation services during EBS integration with OBI

Hi All,
I ran through an issue while trying to integrate OBIEE 11.1.1.5 with EBS R12. I followed the steps mentioned in the below link

I restarted all the services but i was routed to OBIEE login screen through EBS. Later on i made some changes in connection pool of the repository and started the services but now presentation services are not coming up. i tried restarting all the services from EM and opmnctl but to no avail. i went through sawlog5 and console~coreapplication_obips1~1.log file but not able to find any specific error. Below is the error description from both the files

i did make changes to connection pool but those changes are inevitable. I pointed those connection pools to the new EBS database.
@DPKA : i did make changes to instanceconfig. As a part of OBIEE integration with EBS, i changed instanceconfig.xml and started the services. I didn't bring down the services while making the changes. Did that have any impact on services.

Internal Error when starting presentation services

I have installed OBIEE on XP(SP2) and started all services. http://localhost:9704/em works where http://localhost:9704/analytics gives http 500 internal error. Can anyone provide me solution please?.

I have checked from em, Application Analytics is running. On the command window of Oc4J, Could not create Java Virtual Machine message will appear and also could not allocate memory heap will work. This happens only when BI Presentation Services are invoked. I am thinking this might be some configuration issue but could not localize.

Having problems starting Web Services... need help!

I'm running Mac Server 10.5.7 currently configured for email and I've just decided to start hosting websites. The problem I'm having is that Web Services will fail to start with any sites configured. Web Services will start if I don't have any sites configured. I've messed around with the Terminal app using some advice from online posts, but that didn't help. I'm not even sure I did it right.

So, I've read through all the documents and tried to apply what I've learned. I must say, I dove in head first. There's a lot to digest here. Maybe I'm reading too much.
I ran the Terminal and 'sudo' command you requested. This is the result.
"Syntax Ok."
Since posting this question I've installed mySQL, but I'm not exactly sure what it does.
I've tried changing to the httpd.conf file, but nothing is working. All I get when I type in "localhost" is cannot "connect to web server". At least before I was getting the "apple default page".
Need some advice on how to get this all straightened out. Looks like I made a pretty good mess of things.

Problems starting reports service on win2000

Hi,
I am getting an error whenever I try to start the reports service on win2000. I have tried changing my tnsnames (all of them) to add:
Rep60_SCHALLIG.WORLD =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
(HOST = schallig)
(PORT=1949)
#following line already existed
REP60_SCHALLIG.WORLD = Rep60_SCHALLIG.WORLD
But it still seams to give me the same error. I have also tried changing the portnumber.
Originally, I installed 9iasEE and forms server worked. Then I installed forms developer (in a different home) and reports server does not work!
To make things even more interesting, 9iAS http server and forms server run fine....

Windows could not start Oracle Report Sever on "Local Machine".... return service-specific error code 186.
This is 100% about tnsnames.ora. May be you have more then one tnsnames.ora on your machine. For example one for Developer2000 and one for Oracle816.
1) You have to set TNS_ADMIN in registry
2) If previous doesn't work then check tnsnames.ora file for the Reports server description. May be servername is worng. It hase to be the same as your NT Service name for reports server. For example if in NT services you see
Oracle Reports Server [WebRep] then in tnsnames.ora you have to see
WebRep,WebRep.world=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=your_host_name)(PORT=1949))
Check also if in sqlnet.ora you use DEFAULT_DOMAIN=WORLD
