Problem Statement 1 : Failed to Export the PDF file.

I am getting an export error with InDesign CS6, any help to solve the problem, is greatly appreciated. I am on a crunch deadline!
Thanks,
CL

Nobody can know. You have not provided a shred of solid information like system info, what PDF settings, stuff used in the document and so on. In any case, ask in the ID forum.

  • Roblem Statement 1 : Failed to Export the PDF file

I am trying to export a book I designed (it is 1173 pages) with small pics and mainly texts. I am continually getting an error when I am trying to export it to a pdf. I have tried EVERY setting in the dialog box.  The only warning I am seeing is when I ask it to make a small pdf, in the Summary Warning it tells "The preset specified that some fonts are not embedded. This application always embeds fonts."
Please help!  I have tried everything I know to try and read online and I just can not make it work!
    Thank you so very much!

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. We don't even know what program you are talking about in what version nor any exact export settings. Ask in whatever product forum is relevant for this and provide all the required details.

Export the pdf from indesign some error Pop Up window (Failed to Export the PDF file). How slove the problem
Please some one help on this

You need to try exporting the first half of the book.
If that exports ok then export the other half of the book.
Whatever half it fails on - keep dividing the book in half to find the culprit page or pages.
For example if your book is 128 pages long:
    1. Export pages 1 - 63
    2. If these Fail to Export then
    3. try exporting1-32
    4. If these Fail to Export
    5. then try exporting1-16
If it doesn't fail (step 2)
    Then export pages 64-128
    and 64-90 etc.
until you find the pages causing the issues.

  • "Content generation error. Failed to Export the PDF file"

Building a multi-folio in InDesign 6 Folio Builder V30. Received "Content generation error. Failed to Export the PDF file" on several of the spreads. I have tried reducing the original pdf files sizes, but that did not help.
Any suggestions on other possible causes or way to fix.?

I'm very new to DPS so I hope the following description makes some kind of sense.
My magazine is in the process of doing trial runs for an iPad edition. I'm setting some templates up for us to work off so the process from magazine to iPad will run a lot smoother month to month.
So far I've set up some dummy stock pages in an InDesign CS6 document, currently 15 pages long.
All images are linked and all fonts have paragraph styles applied to them.
I'm at the stage I want to check the document on my iPad to test run font sizes and their legibility.
We have successfully been able to export the document as a jpg file but we really need the PDF format. When attempting this we get the above message.

  • Failed to export the PDF file.

It happened to me several times now and I have found work arounds before but it is starting to annoy me a little now.
When exporting an InDesign file to PDF I sometimes get the following error:
As you can see it only states the fact that there is a problem but it doesn't tell me what the causes or might cuase the problem. I don't see any errors in the preflight panel and I managed to export this same file before.
Does anyone know what I can do to make InDesign create a PDF?
    Thanks!

    Hi again Raja!
I did as you recommended and installed HTTPWatch and below is the outcome of that program. It is the exact string with the only exception of obfuscated servernames and portnumbers. The last part that begins with "sap_ep_baseurl=" makes me suspicious, is that part really correct? It looks like it's lacking things.
    Best regards

  • I am trying to export the PDF file and conversion fails every time.

I am trying to export the PDF file and conversion fails every time. File is too large of too complex. What do I do? One file is about 55 mb and the other is 58 mb.

Try extracting part of the file and see if the extracted part can be Exported. If so, repeat with the next set of pages. When done, try to load all into the first file.

  • 'failed to open the PDF file' error - Indesign CS3 on Mac

    Hi,
Whenever I place PDFs that were created by any other app besides indesign or Illustrator I get a 'failed to open the PDF file' error, previously these PDFs were fine to place but all of a sudden they're not... Help?
I'm not too keen on opening in Illustrator and resaving for the rest of the foreseeable future either...

    Thanks for the reminder, Scott.

  • Failed to export the JPEG file

When I attempt to export a jpeg from InDesign I get the following error message, please help:
"Failed to export the JPEG file: File cannot be written.
Disc may be locked or full."
The disc it is writing to has 90Gb of memory free and I've tried knocking the quality of the export down with no success.
I am running CS6 on a fully updated Macbook Pro.
    Thanks.

I'm trying to export to the hard drive on the Mac as usual, and have never had this issue before?

  • InDesign CS6 "Failed to export the JPEG file. File cannot be written. Disk may be locked or full."

I get this error "Failed to export the JPEG file. File cannot be written. Disk may be locked or full." when sending small (3"x3") and large (40"x60") files to a printer hot folder. Sometime if I close the program and restart it will let me export. What could be causing this to happen?
I am on Windows 7 with 4GB RAM PC.

I guess the printer is grabbing the file before it is entirely written…
Workaround: Do not save to a hot folder. Move the files after exporting to the hot folder.

  • Failed to open the PDF file

I have to place a large number of PDF files. Sometimes I get an error: "Failed to open the PDF file". In the InDesign Forum I found that this also happens in the GUI from time to time and that the workaround is to turn on the Show Import Options. But this is obviously not an option for me.
    Is there any alternative?
    Thank you, Ralf

When you retry, is it always the same PDF?
    Otherwise I'd play around like
    - catch the error
    - perform some potential cleanup of resources (files, memory), e.g. SaveAs, or a Close-Reopen cycle
    - retry the same PDF

  • How do i export a book that was set in pdf to kindle?I get a box that says i can not export the pdf file

Do you happen to have Dial Assist on? This is in Settings>Phone. This is what helps the phone identify international numbers when dialing, based on location. See if turning that off/on makes a difference. Unless you are making a number of international calls, I believe this can be left off. See the User Guide http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf  Page 49 has info regarding Dial Assist.

  • Failed to save the PDF file into the open location as default

    Hi all,
    Please help me!
In Acrobat XI professional, while save the PDF file using the SAVEAS option it shows the previous file saved location path.
But i need the current opened location path while save the PDF file.
Please help me to solve the issue.

    What an awesome idea, Bernd...
I've just encountered the same situation and it's irritating the hell outta me. Adobe's always gotta screw something up to irritate us. As if having the rent their software isn't irritation enough.
The problem is when you open a file and then Save As it has always, and in every program known to man (at least that I've used), offered to Save As in the same folder where the file was opened from. Now it wants to save it in the last "saved to" directory.
While this could be convenient on occasion it's a PitA most of the time.
Any actual solution to this misbehaving Save dialog?

  • Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file

Just installed Acrobat 9 Standard on new HP Touchsmart running Vista 64 bit - tried to create a pdf from a *.pub, and got the error message above, and "please correct the error and try again".  If I knew what the error was, I'd try to correct it.

If you check the PDF file with ctrl-D and select the font tab, you will likely find that the font you mention is not embedded. The font not being embedded will make major differences in terms of what fonts Acrobat or Reader finds to do a substitution. Also, the fonts may not display correctly if you have the Use Local Fonts check box selected incorrectly (just try changing that choice).
Fonts can be a major issue in terms of licensing for embedding and such. Also, different job.settings file selections may cause fonts to not be properly embedded.
Since the printer works, the issue of the other packages is the need for PDF Maker to be active in those applications that you are trying to import files from. To check PDF Maker, you need to test it in those applications, not in Acrobat. Trying things in Acrobat is the last step, not the first step. In WORD, there is a need for certain settings to be properly set to allow PDF Maker to work. These may be the issues you are having. So, go back to the applications of interst and be sure that PDF Maker works from the application -- this is the create PDF button.
