Problem streaming via upnp to xbox

I have this issue I have been attempting to solve for a few weeks now. I love to stream videos to my Xbox 360 and PS3 via UPnP, but usually about once over the course of an episode of a TV show it will simply STOP streaming. It will lose connection with my upnp server for some reason. Xbox's message is that it has lost contact with the  server, or something to that effect. Similar message from the PS3.
As I said, it happens on both consoles. I have already purchased a new router (different model/mfg, first was Linksys, second was Netgear). Both routers had UPnP enabled, and both consoles are connected to the router via Ethernet cable.
The server I am streaming from is my home desktop running Arch Linux. Its network connection is wireless. I have already tried it with two separate wireless adapters, no difference made. I have also tried two different UPnP server applications: ushare and PS3 Media Server. Libdlna is a dependency of ushare, but not of PS3 Media Server. I previously had no issues streaming under Windows 7, so I am sure it can be done successfully but I am at a loss as to what else I can do to correct this. Otherwise, the wireless seems to work fine with no other network issues.
If anyone has any suggestions on something I may be missing on the Linux side of things, I would greatly appreciate it.
edit: Just a thought, perhaps there is a time-out somewhere in my wireless configuration that I can look for and disable? Or something that might cause occasional DLNA errors? Or could it be an issue with USB since my two adaptors are both USB adaptors.

well try reducing the MTU values to 1365 on the router, also try triggering 88, 3074 ports on the router...

Was heißt das nun ?

  • BT Infinity & Steaming via WMC and Xbox

    Hi,
This seems to be a fairly well known issue but since upgrading to BT Infinity and getting the new Home Hub I am having problems streaming content to my pc via Xbox and Windows Media Centre. I basically have to reset the modem and HH everytime I turn the xbox on. I have assigned the xbox the same IP via homehub settings but that hasn't helped. I've tried forwarding the ports but get a conflict error in homehub settings despite it being the only configuration. From reading other posts it seems a problem with the new infinity homehub.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I think I'll just buy a Netgear WNR3500....
    Paul

    FIGURED IT OUT!!!!
This has taken me 2 days and finally I can relax!!!
I could set up WMC on the Xbox streaming from my PC with an ethernet cable no problem at all. Until I turn the Xbox Off and try to use it again later on it would lose it's connection. The only way I could use it again without going through the pain staking time of setting it all up again or to swap Ethernet cables on the back of the router... That wasn't convienient......
I had tried all the things under the sun, port forwarding, turning firewalls off, wireless connection, wired connection.....
after trying again for another 2 hours this afternoon, I sat back and thought about it...
What is the Protocol Called to Stream Media?
I wrote this into google and this came up - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Streaming_Protocol
RTSP - Real Time Streaming Protocol
I then thought does The Hub Manager have this Protocol Under Application Settings, YES IT DOES!!
I applied it along with the Xbox Live Setting.....
I turned my router off for a minute, my xbox off and restarted my PC.....
The Anticipation that filled up in my body waiting to see if it worked was unbelivable!!!!
    IT WORKED....... YES!!!!!
HANG ON A MINUTE! I Turned my XBOX OFF again and retried it, IT WORKED AGAIN HAS WORKED.....
Any Longer trying to figure this out might have made me return to Sky Broadband........
For A Guide to Add the settings to the Xbox Follow this: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091110130828AAOYFkK Once completed to it again with "RTSP" instead of "Xbox Live"
Hope this all works for you as it did for me as its sooooooo frustrating!!!!

  • Problem streaming netflix/youtube

2010 mac book pro with running 10.6.7.  my problem is that when using either firefox, safari or chrom when i stream videos from netflix or youtube, the stream dies somewhere in the middle of the video.  there hasn't been any consistency as far as where i lose the stream.  sometimes netflix will buffer 30 minutes, sometimes 90 minutes, sometime less than a minute.  with youtube, an average 4 minute clip gets halted after a couple minutes or so.  with youtube, if i change the resolution of the clip from say 360 to 480, that jump starts the video stream again, although sometimes that stream dies too.
i don't think this is a problem with my router because when i stream netflix onto my xbox it works fine, and when i run windows 7 via bootcamp, my pc browsers stream videos better.  also when i watch videos on hulu.com (while running os x) i don't have these streaming problems.
anyone have any thoughts or has faced this problem before?
    thanks

try update firmware of this router and try to change channel
    maybe there is some interferences

  • Photo Stream (via iCloud) is no longer working on PC -- w/o system changes

Photo Stream (via iCloud) worked great on my Windows PC a week ago.  Suddenly it's stopped entirely.  When I attempt to open it, I get an error message that says that "Photo Stream is not enabled" and that I should go to the iCloud Control Panel.  When I go to the Control Panel to initiate the change, I can put a check mark in the box to activate it, but it will not retain the change when I hit apply/save.  It also disables Windows Explorer when I do this.
I don't believe this is an IOS6 issue since it was working fine for a period of time after I put IOS6 on both my iPhone and iPad devices.  I've also not made any changes to the Windows laptop involved.
Is anyone else having this problem.  Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

After upgrading to iOS 8.1, upgrading to the latest iTunes and re-installing iCloud for Windows, Photo Stream is working again!

  • Deliver HTTP ABR HDS+HLS Streams via Player Object to All Devices

I have been unable to successfully establish a single video player object (similar to when delivering single-bitrate streams via FLVPlayback component with Flash Pro) that will automatically detect the browser type and automatically deliver the appropriate .f4m or .m3u8 manifest when broadcasting using HTTP adaptive bitrate streaming with FMLE3 and AMS5.
I have both the HDS and HLS streaming working separately--the AMS5 sample videoPlayer.html file will accept and play video content when fed the URL: http://csitsfms.sys.oakland.edu/mbrBlack.f4m; however, I have not had success in getting any .f4m streams initiated in any other fashion.
Also, HLS streaming is verified to be working on: http://csitsfms.sys.oakland.edu/mbrBlack.m3u8 when using an option such as VLC Player's File -> Open Network Stream command.
The end desired result is that a user will navigate to  a particular URL and the browser autodetects whether to deliver the .f4m or the m3u8 manifest and initiate the appropriate stream to a single video playback object.
We've had FMS up and running since v3.5; however, have just recently upgraded to AMS5.0.x and would like to enable adaptive bitrate streaming to all devices; we have no problem with single-bitrate streaming to Flash-enabled devices.
I have also tried using the sample videoPlayer.html page's auto-generated code, dropping that onto an otherwise empty HTML document; however, Error 2048 was returned instead of a valid stream. Using a similar process with the OSMF generator, the error standard error, "We are having problems with playback. We apologize for the inconvenience."
It may be noted that we have SWFVerification enabled for our domain, in case this is what may be impeding our efforts.

take a look at this links
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/adobe-media-server/articles/beginning-fms45-pt01.html
i think you are not calling the video properly in the HTTP URL.
http://csitsfms.sys.oakland.edu/mbrBlack.f4m  willnot work. If you are using the AMS videoplayer.html use the embeded code and paste it in a html file.
http://domain.com/hds-vod/filename.f4m WILL NOT WORK . This will only display the content of the f4m file.

  • Can an iPod touch be used for streaming via wifi from iTunes ?

    Hi,
I suspect the answer is 'No' but I'd love someone to tell me otherwise.
    Thanks
    -Mat

You can also use Tversity to stream audio and video content from your PC to the iPhone or iPod Touch.
    http://tversity.com/home
There are some crippling limitations, however:
    1) It appears that right now, all videos need to be transcoded to iPod format before they can stream. And unlike streaming via the Xbox or other devices, the transcoding has to completely finish before you can stream the video, whereas other devices allow you to transcode and stream on the fly.
    2) There doesn't appear to be a way to shuffle music or use playlists. So if you stream music, you can only play one song and then use the interface to select another... it won't keep playing from a playlist or automatically go to another song.
I can confirm, however, that the streaming does indeed work with the iPod Touch, not just the iPhone. I tried it myself and it worked, but the limitations above make it impractical for me to use regularly. Perhaps the folks at Tversity will be able to add more features over time.

  • Problem streaming music from the icloud to iphone whilst driving

I thought it was a great idea to purchase itunes match and have all my music in the cloud not taking up memory in the iphone - which i stream via bluetooth whist driving. However, the problem now appears to be the amount of 3g signal available when driving fluctuating so much causing the music to stop dead in its tracks in certain areas. Am I doing something wrong? I am surprised that there is no buffer option - or is there?

Too whom it may interest, I found the cure. I unpluged the Apple TV2 from power and repluged it after 5 minutes and rebooted my Iphone 4. Problem solved.

    Restore From Time Machine Backup
    Reinstall OS X
    Get Help Online
    Disk Utility
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
    You are running 10.5.8
Did you try booting off your Install disk holding the c key down.  From here you can get to the drop down menu just a few clicks in (you are not going to install) and run  the Disk Utility>Repair Disk.  See if it will let you do this.

  • Problem streaming HD Movies to Apple TV through home network

Got my new Apple TV yesterday but has some quirks. The biggest one is I'm in the middle of watching an iTunes HD movie I own -- streaming it to my Apple TV on my home network -- and the video starts stuttering halfway through the movie. It was playing with no sound, the video was jumpy, etc.
I stopped the movie, unplugged the Apple TV, tried playing the movie again -- I did this a couple of times -- and same result. This issue didn't happen until about an hour into the movie -- for the first hour of the show it played perfectly. Just before the movie, I'd watched an HD TV show I downloaded from iTunes earlier in the day, and was streaming this to my new Apple TV over the home network, and it played fine.
The other issue I'm seeing is it takes a looooooooooong time to load my iTunes Library from my computer. I selected my shared library, and then it takes about five times (or more) as long to load the list of movies compared to my older Apple TV (the previous generation 160GB hard drive model).
Is anyone else seeing these issues, and is there a fix?

I am having the same problem streaming HD anything, Movies or TV shows. It seems to try to buffer more of the video than when using SD video anything. When playing SD anything, it seems to start playing very soon after pressing play.
My content is on a spring 2009 iMac
    CPU 2.93 GHz
    4GB RAM
    OS 10.5.8
    Network
Wireless N (G,B 2.4 GHz) No G or be devices on network presently not switching to N only because iPhone 3GS doesnt 'support N.

    Might be a Safari extension...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab.
If there are any extensions installed, turn that OFF, then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Problems streaming video (after 5-10 mins)

    Hi,
I used to have no problems streaming video (hulu, espn3 etc), but recently my quality starts dropping out after 5-10 mins. It starts off fine but then the video starts getting jumpy then the audio starts to fuzz out. If I refresh the browser and even restart. the problem can still be there.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is there any chance that this not an issue with my computer, but with my internet connection?
    Thanks!

I too am having this same issue.  I have only started having it after installing Lion.  I am forced to restart my computer if I wish to watch a video.  I have no solutions!

I have a problem connecting via wi fi when my wife uses her PC

    Hello GJSCHUBERT,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities. The easiest solution may be to simply restart your router, but you can also see these resources:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
    1. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap .
    2. If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, see this article.

  • Apple TV2 streaming via Airplay. No picture, but sound

Internet ok, Youtube ok, but streaming from iPad 2 via Airplay to TV 2 is only sound, no picture

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
What are you trying to stream via AirPlay, websites and apps need enabling by the developer, not all are. Some simply haven't got around to it and others don't want to (often for licensing reasons I assume)
