Problem Streaming Videos Through iTunes U Private
We have recently received reports from students and faculty that they are unable to preview longer videos hosted in iTunes U Private. While this problem seems to affect longer videos with file sizes over 500 MB, there does not appear to be a specific file size or video length that causes the problem (e.g. Some files less than 400 MB do not play, and some files larger than 700 MB do play). This problem only affects people using iTunes client version 10. The same videos that cannot be previewed in iTunes 10 play fine in iTunes 9 without downloading. All files play in all versions of iTunes client after downloading locally.
We confirmed Virginia Tech is seeing the same issue. Can anyone else confirm they are seeing the same issue? If so, please let us know if you have any ideas about the cause, a good workaround or a permanent fix. We have a very angry department chair in Film, Theater and Television that we would like to make happy soon.

Problems streaming video (after 5-10 mins)
Hi,
I used to have no problems streaming video (hulu, espn3 etc), but recently my quality starts dropping out after 5-10 mins. It starts off fine but then the video starts getting jumpy then the audio starts to fuzz out. If I refresh the browser and even restart. the problem can still be there.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is there any chance that this not an issue with my computer, but with my internet connection?

can I stream video using itunes on my PC and an appleTV(1st generation)?
AppleTV 1 works differently.
It has a sync/share mode and sharing (streaming only) modes set up by pairing the unit with iTunes on computers using the Settings>Computers menu.
The first sync and share connection is for one itunes library and allows you to sync compatible media to the unit's hard drive as well as stream the rest seamlessly if itunes is runniung and the drive has filled up - this media is accessed under My Music, My Movies etc.
Sharing libraries stream only and are accessed via My Shared Movies, Music etc.
Yes, Handbrake is a video converter that has AppleTV presets - use AppleTV1 preset or a simple universal Apple preset.

Select the iTunes library on your computer from the Sources menu in Apple TV and then you can stream. If streaming is not smooth and your router has a multicast setting, try increasing the multicast bit rate. To return to the synced content on your Apple TV, select the Apple TV logo at the top of the Sources menu.

Recently we changed our Lynksys router to an Airport Extreme and now my MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 will not stream radio through Itunes without constantly rebuffering. Any ideas?

I am trying to stream video from iTunes store for the last 2 days and all I get is the message "iTunes store is unavailable. Try again later." I have tried turning it off, unplugging all cords, restarting it, reseting it, restoring it, and signing in and out again. Netflix works, but iTunes seems to be bugging out. If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I want to do the same thing but in Airfoil it doesn't allow me to select "System Audio" from the drop down menu.
Everytime time I select System Audio" a window pops up saying { in order to transmit all System Audio, you must have the Soundflower Extra installed.}
When I download the app SoundFlower it doesn't show on my computer anywhere (desktop, HD, Apps folder). Did you have to install SoundFlower? Please drop me a tip. I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe I have to buy it to get it. I wanted to try it out and be sure it worked prior to purchasing it.

ITunes 7.4 will not stream video through front row
I just updated both my macbook pro and my mac mini to iTunes 7.4.1(2). I also updated the firmware for my airport extreme base station. I can no longer stream video using front-row. This happened before when I updated to iTunes 7.2! I suspect, like before, apple will have to send out a patch. Anyone else expierenced this?
Try turning IPv6 ON in your network preferences - this is helping SOME people with this problem. It won't help you at all if your network router doesn't do IPv6.
To turn on: go to Network Preferences, select the interface you use, under teh TCP/IP tab click 'Configure IPv6', and choose 'Automatic'. Save changes. -
Streaming videos through apple tv
Since the upgrade to iOs8 I cannot stream videos to my tv through appletv. If they work, it crashes a few seconds into it.
Also, the little icon on the bottom right corner of the video where I would choose which device to play the video on (phone, and other apple tvs), is gone. Do we have to go to settings and enable air play every single time?
I want that icon back.I am having the same problem. Since the IOS8 Upgrade,I have been unable to stream videos without it crashing every few minutes. Nothing else has changed. Same router, same devices all with the same wiFi connection. Most of the time when it crashes and I finally get it to start again, the video always starts from the beginning again, very annoying. Before the upgrade.... no problems at all. I also checked out the link to resolving issues with airplay etc. and nothing there has solved this problem. I hope Apple will address this problem and come up with a fix. I love my Apple products, but love them even more when everything works properly
