Problem submitting pdf form in Indesign CS6

I've designed a form in Indesign CS6 (trial version) and added the submit button with a mailto email address as in the tutorials etc. I have opened it in Adobe Acrobate 10 and extended the forms functionality to Adobe Reader.
When opened online and the submit button is clicked, a box opens asking which option which best describes how you send email. After selecting Outlook my email client opens with the message 'Form returned; sample_form.pdf attached. the attached file is the filled-out form. Please open it to retrieve the data'. Just above the message bar states 'this message has not been sent'.
I've also downloaded the Michael Jarott tutorial which I cannot get to send either.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Unfortunately the form still returns the 'no matches found for [email protected]' I've changed the URL field on the submit button to mailto: xxxxx@xxxx and I've also tried it with no space after the mailto:, unfortunately both these return the above error message. This is the same whatever email address I try. I'm starting to tear my hair out with this one. I've tried it on my home PC arunning Norton Internet Security and on my works PC running Avast. Same problem on both.

  • Linking data from PDF form into Indesign CS6

    Hello all,
    I'll be working on a magazine which has a large section of day camps technical descriptions :
    name, contact info, location, short introduction text, activities icons (they have to choose up to 5 icons from a total of 12)
    Is it possible to link data from a fillable PDF into predetermined and prestyled text boxes in Indesign CS6?
    Would it be necessary to export in an Excel sheet prior?
    What would be the best trick in order for the icons to place themselves automatically, if possible?
    Thanks in advance

    When placing a PDF into InDesign, it's a flat piece of art for each page included. There's no way to manipulate form fields or work with links or anything like that.
    The data from the form would have to be collected and converted into an Excel file for placing into InDesign. (Collecting data from PDF forms and converting the Excel format can be done in Acrobat Pro.)

  • Problems Submitting PDF Forms via Adobe Reader XI?

    Hi,
    I have used Acrobat Pro (Versions 9/X and XI) to successfully create fillable PDF forms. I distributed the forms to a server via Acrobat, then set up a hyperlink to the form's location for my users. The users were able to fill the form and submit it.  I was able to manage the submitted form data via Adobe Tracker.  Recently, many of my users have been updated to Acrobat Reader XI.  Now, some of these same users (who have successfully submitted these forms in the past - before the latest upgrade) can no longer submit the form data!  If a user fills the form and clicks submit, it appears to that user that the form was successfully submitted, but no data appears in Adobe Tracker, even after refreshing... What would cause this??
    Thank you!

    What is your operating system?  What is your Reader XI version?  What exactly means "cannot"?

  • Problem submitting PDF form in WorkSpace

    Hi, my server is ES2.5 Turnkey install (Express mode) on Windows.
    Client is IE-8 with latest Reader.
    My form is a PDF form created in the WorkBench,
    it has 2 pages, with some Digital Signature fields,
    I have also added the "Process Fields" group onto page 2 of the form.
    The form is to be routed in the standard WorkSpace.
    At the Initiator step (Start Point), I use the Action Profile to do the Pre-fill of the form.
    I have checked the Reader Extended box.
    I use a Document variable as the Output from the StartPoint, the doc variable references my .PDF form template.
    Everything works fine at the Initiator step, the form fields are all properly Pre-filled.
    The problem is:
    after I click the Complete button, it goes to the next participant of the workflow process,
    when that person opens up the form in the WorkSpace, it's all blank, none of the data at the Initiator step show up.
    This User task uses the same Document variable as the Input (specified at the Presentation & Data tab).
    What do I need to do to pass the form data along with the form to the next person in the Process?
    What have I done wrong?  what should I check?
    thanks.

    I sort of narrowed down the problem a little bit.
    I created a smaller PDF form, it has Digital Signature field as well as the Process Fields group, plus some Text fields.  When I used it in the SAME process (changed the Document variable to point to this new small form of course) everything worked!  No data loss.  Everything on the form including the Signature got passed to the next person in the workflow just fine.
    So I think my Process design is fine, the problem appears to be in the original 2-page PDF form.
    But I can't figure out what thing on the form could have caused the data loss!
    There's no error message anywhere, nothing in the JBoss server log either.
    Has anybody seen similar problem like this?
    thanks.

  • How do I create an interactive PDF file in InDesign CS6 with Folio Overlays?

    I have been trying to export an interactive PDF file using InDesign CS6. It exports fine, and all the content works except for the Folio Overlays I created. I created two Folio Overlays (one Pan & Zoom and one Scrollable Frame). The overlays work if I preview them from the Folio Overlays panel, but they do not work on the PDF document.
    I am using File >> Export... to create the PDF document, and I am sure the PDF document is of the interactive type and not the print type. Am I exporting it incorrectly? Is there a specific step that I have missed somewhere? Do I need to create a Folio Build to make the Folio Overlays work?
    When I mouse over the Folio Overlays, I get the crosshair cursor which only selects part of the image when I click and drag it.

    PDF is one thing. Folios for DPS is another. There is a little bit of
    overlap but not much.
    The interactivity in the folio overlays panel is for DPS only.

    Is there a preferred web browser for submitting PDF forms, or can recipients submit the form via any of the common browers like Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.?

    Submitted PDF form is not delivering to my Domain email account

    What exactly is not working ? As you have mentioned form submission notification is received in your email account so form process is working I believe but you want the notifications to go to another email account I think.
    Have you added the email address in "Email to" field in form options ? If yes and then also you are not receiving the form , then please provide me the site url and post a screenshot or form with option box open.
    Thanks,

  • Problem submitting PDF via HTTPS

    I'm an Adobe Acrobat newbie, and am having issues submitting a PDF form to an HTTPS server.  My basic setup is as follows:
    1)  PDF Form with one text field and a single submit button pointing to a https URL.  The button submits in the XDP format.
    2)  A server which can only be accessed through SSL and has a valid SSL certificate
    I get the following error when I hit the submit button in Adobe Reader 9:
    "An error has occurred during the submit process.  The server has an invalid SSL certificate."
    I tried the following:
    1)  Adding the SSL certificate to the Manage Trusted Identities, and pressing the submit button.  Same error.
    2)  After installing the certificate, going to Edit -> Preferences -> Security -> Advanced Preferences, and checking the box for Enable searching the Windows Certificate store for certificates other than your own.  Same error.
    I've tested the servlet by posting through a .NET application and it works fine. Am I missing something here?

    I've fixed this problem.  Turns out my windows certificate store didn't have the Root certificate for my website added in it.  I just found the root certificate online and installed it into the "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" store in windows.  I then went to Edit -> Preferences -> Security -> Advanced Preferences, and checked the box for Enable searching the Windows Certificate store.  Works like a charm now.

  • Cannot open .pdf created by InDesign CS6, can open all other .pdfs

    I just got InDesign CS6 at work (I use CC at home, but my company could not afford the CC subscription). I'm on PC with the minimum specs for InDesign and Photoshop Elements (also just installed). I have never been able to print to .pdf from InDesign; the program hangs. I have been doing Export to .pdf, press quality with my printer's specs. This has been working fine, except that, on occasion, I have to export the .pdf a few times to get it to open; it will give me an "either not a supported file or damaged" error message. Up until today, I have been able to export 2-3 times and would always get a .pdf that would open.
    As of today, I cannot open any .pdf at all; I get that same "not supported or damaged" error message. However, if I let my computer sit idle for about 30 minutes, it will open. In addition, after exporting, InDesign hangs on a background task of "Export " 5" and I have to close out of that task to do anything further in the program.
    I have read the forums on these issues and done what I can: I have installed all updates, backsaved to earlier Acrobat versions, exported to .idml, etc. Nothing helps.
    I will confess that I am not the most technically-savvy person by any means. My company is small and does not have an IT person, nor is there a budget for calling someone in, so it is up to me and my admittedly limited understanding of this software to fix this issue.
    Help?

    You may have shown me part of the problem. I can't share one of the files I'm working on, as they're full of images and we have client protections that make sharing problematic, but I did try to recreate a new file with garbage text and graphics and that .pdf opened without any problem.
    Could this be a file size issue? The files I'm working on are only 8,900 kb and 200 kb. That doesn't seem too large to me, but perhaps it's enough to cause a problem on my machine.

  • Submitted PDF form data are empty

    I created a simple PDF form using Acrobat X Pro that containing one textbox ("txtName") and one button ("btnSubmit"). The button's action is set to "Submit a form" and the URL is set to an asp.net generic handler ("PdfFormHandler.ashx").
    When I open the PDF in browser and fill in the textbox and click on submit button, the form submitted. But on the server side, "txtName" is always empty. There are no errors but just missing the submitted data. the server side code is:
    public class PdfFormHandler : IHttpHandler
        public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context)
            if (context.Request.RequestType == "POST")
                var name = context.Request.Form["txtName"];
                context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain";
                context.Response.Write("Hello " + name);
        public bool IsReusable
            get
                return false;
    I should see "Hello " and then a name. But since it's not able to retrieve "txtName", it only prints "Hello".
    i found what the problem is and i posted the answer here. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10885969/adobe-pdf-form-submitted-but-request-form-coll ection-is-empty

    You could try first flattenening the fields. This converts the field appearances to regular page contents. You can do this with JavaScript, PDF Optimizer, or a Preflight fixup.

  • PDF created with InDesign CS6, Helvetica Neue font, causes lower-case "r's" to be bold

    The pdf was created from InDesign CS6 using Windows 7. I cannot recreate the problem on my machine, but it is happening on a coworker's machine. The only character affected is the lower-case r. It appears bold when viewing the pdf of his machine. I am also running Windows 7 and it looks fine to me. My boss is using a Mac and it also looks fine to her. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

    Hmm...until it's isolated to the 'r' it surely sounds like the typical effect often caused by the "Enhance Thin Lines" preference setting in Acrobat/Reader/browser-x-plugin, which most commonly affects l's and i's.
    It's also true that various servings of Helvetica Neue are at the center of many such tales of woe.
    I'd recommend some simple testing on the co-worker's computer with PDF's produced under the same conditions using different fonts; perhaps some varied weights of the same Helvetica Neue.

  • Trouble submitting PDF form with Web Mail

    Hello,
    I have a fillable PDF form that I'm trying to submit. When I submit the form through an email client (Outlook, Mail, etc.) it works perfectly. When I try to submit using the Webmail option, I get this message: "An unknown error has occurred while uploading the attachment. If you are not sure how to proceed further, you can save your form and return it manually using your Internet mail service."
    I've checked the file thoroughly and everything looks correct. I'm perplexed as to why it submits just fine through an email client, but won't submit via Webmail. I've tried on a Mac and a PC and I've tried using a Yahoo account and a Gmail account with the same results. Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Kate

    I'm using Acrobat XI Pro. I don't have Reader installed on my laptop. The form is for a client who sends it out to patients to fill out, so I need it work with both mail clients and web mail. Is there a way to do that? I don't think changing that preference in my Acrobat will solve the problem, as that will just effect my Acrobat. Is there a setting I can apply to the actual document? Thank you for your response!

  • Questions about submitting PDF form to server

    I need to add a submit button to an existing PDF form that will submit it to a PHP script on the server. I can find information on submitting as FDF, but what does the "submit as HTML" option do? What and how does it submit to the server? I added a button (also a minor problem, the button text doesn't show) to the document with Acrobat 9 Pro, choosing the "Submit as HTML" option, but when I submit  it to a PHP script on the server that should echo or printr submitted $_POST data, I get an error message "An error occurred in the submit process. Cannot process content of type text/html."
    Apparently submitting as FDF is not an option, because the server does not have the FDF toolkit. What I need to be able to do is submit the PDF form with the information entered into it to the server, and redisplay it with the form inputs in place and with an added image. What would be the easiest way to do this? If I can get the form onto the server in HTML format, it would be easy to to add the image and redisplay it, or possible there is some way I could redisplay it in PDF format after adding an image to it? Any advice? Some tutorial on the other PDF form submit actions?

    Could someone at least point me to some information that provides all the details of how a PDF form is submitted to the server and discusses the options for the action? This information must surely exist somewhere, but after two days of searching I cannot find it.
    I am experienced with PHP (I used FPDF for one project) so a specific "how to" that is PHP oriented would be nice.

  • 1000 pdf-forms from Indesign

    In english:
    We have about 1000 documents in Indesign, and each document to be saved to a pdf form. In the PDF is a box customers will be able to change the content on and then send to the printers. The box will be located in the same place on each dok.
    I would ideally like to be able to export a make an editable pdf with bleed and crop marks directly from InDesign. As in InDesign where I already can determine the font and font size in the edit box as it is on 1000 PDFs.
    Option 1: save out an interactive pdf but then I don't get with crop marks and still have to open up the PDF in Acrobat in order to change the font in the form fields.
    Option 2: make a print-pdf with crop marks that I open in Acrobat and then redo
    to the form. It takes more time and I never get the form field at the exact same place every time because I did not succeed-paste in place-in Acrobat.
    If you managed to read up to here, I am impressed. If you solve my problem, I am eternally grateful to you.

    This may help when creating crop marks?...
    If you want crop marks on all your pdf’s…
    Indesign -  File Document Set Up
    Click on Bleed Settings e.g. 3mm or your choice (Top, Bottom, Inside, Outside) click OK.
    Keep Indesign page open, then go to:
    File - Adobe PDF Presets
    Click for example ‘Press Quality’ - Save
    Dialogue box appears
    Click on ‘Marks and Bleeds’ then click on Marks and check ‘Crop Marks’
    Click on ‘Bleeds and Slug’
    Check ‘Use Document Bleed Settings' eg 3mm - Export.
    Your pdf’s will then have crop marks, governed by the distance of your ‘Bleed Settings’ e.g. 3mm.
