Problem switching between documents

Since i updated from Flash CS3 to CS5 adobe removed the its ability to jump between documents using keyboard shorcuts. Before it was possible to use MacOS X's nativecommand ( "cmd + <" ) to get to the next document, but now it isnt.
Photoshop atleast added a new keyboard shortcut (ctrl + tab) that made it possible to that while in tabbed window mode.
I've googled for a long while but couldnt find any solutution to this.
So if you know how to solve this i'd be very happy.

Perhaps you should try another app to manage your code outside Flash such as the very popular FlashDevelop? It is a windows app but many people run it virtualized. It has much better code completion in my opinion. I had issues with selecting text in Flash's actionscript panel. I have no idea why but every time I put my cursor at the beginning of a line and hold shift while pressing down to highlight lines of code I want to copy it would wrap my selection too far down to the next line. EXTREMELY irritating to me. FlashDevelop became my favorite until I got Flash Builder.
You can also check out FDT. Eclipse can be used with a plugin which I hear is similar to Flash Builder but I never tried it. Ultimately try other code dev environments. You'll probably find that Flash's actionscript panel is quite terrible.

  • Switching between documents

I used cmd+` to switch between documents many times, yet all of a sudden the short cut does not work any more. No problem with other cmd short cuts. Could anyone be of help?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Switching between documents in Pages

I am in the habit of working with multiple Pages documents at once and must manually click "Window" to move to the other document. I know that if I need to switch to another application I can use "Command + Tab", however is there a way to switch between documents in Pages other than using the "Windows" menu?

    Hi jordalex325
    Welcome to the forum.
The function is a +system wide function+ so you find it in the Finder:
    +Menu > Window > Cycle through Windows+
In English the shortcut shows as +command `+ on the menu, look in the same menu in Swedish and see what it suggests there.
    *Swedish keyboard*
    !http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e0/KBSweden.svg/500px-KBSweden.svg.png!
The ` key is on the top row, far right and combined with the shift key.
Amendment: On closer examination this is actually a PC keyboard. I am trying to source a Swedish Mac Keyboard image, so far unsuccessfully. Maybe you could tell us what is different meanwhile.
    *English Keyboard*
    !http://images.apple.com/keyboard/images/gallery/wired120070813.jpg!
You could try that or try remapping the shortcut in:
    +System Preferences > Hardware > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard Shortcuts+
    Peter
PS Try opening +Show Keyboard Viewer+ from your input menu on the top right of the menu bar and see what characters are where when you type.

  • Keyboard shortcut for switching between documents?

Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching between open documents? That sure would save me a lot of time.

This works to switch between windows in any app.

  • Network activity when switching between documents

We have a user with InDesign CS5.5 on a Mac. Here's the scenario:
-The user has a document with many linked images in multiple libraries (document is stored on the network).
-The user opens a second document or a blank document.
When the user switchs from the blank document to the "big" document, it takes 5-7 seconds to switch over. Opening the Activity Monitor in Mac OS shows that a lot of network activity is going on during the swtich between documents. It looks like it re-downloads the whole document each time. Switching from the "big" document to the blank one is pretty instantaneous. Is something trying to "update" the whole document each time the user switches tabs?

That's what I'm thinking, but it wasn't doing that before and isn't doing it on other computers.

  • Problems Switching Between Operating Systems.

I just had a copy of windows xp put on my mac book for school but for some reason I can't switch back to it. Since I'm not a admin I can't access the start-up disk and when I hold the option key and restart the computer all I get is a big pad lock on the screen. Right now I have no way of contacting the administrator until Tuesday. Is there any other way to access the windows OS? Thanks.

The iPhone has it's own OS, and syncing between Macs and PCs is not a problem. There's no formatting issue involved.

  • Problem switching between applications

    Hi,
Don't know if anyone can shed any light on this...
I am working on a Director project that has to link to and
open Word DOCs. I have a problem whereby when a DOC is opened, the
Mac does not seem to be switching properly into Word. What happens
is: click thumbnail (running handler to open DOC, using Buddy API
xtra); Word starts to open the DOC; DOC window appears in front of
projector Window, but the Mac titlebar seems to 'stick' in the
projector. I can edit the DOC, use keyboard commands to save etc.,
but no menus are visible due to the 'ProjectorName.osx' title bar.
I can switch to Word with Apple-tab, but not by clicking in the
    Word window(s).
    A few extra notes:
    • The projector resizes the screen to 800x600, but even
with this feature disabled the problem persists.
    • I have tried creating a projector with the Full
Screen option checked and unchecked, and with the visible title bar
option checked and unchecked - no difference.
    • The problem has just arisen; essentially identical
projectors (ie. differences are only in graphics) have run OK.
    • We have used a couple of different xtras to open the
files, for reasons unconnected with this issue. However we have
been using BuddyAPI for a while, so I am reasonably sure that the
problem is not related to this.
    • Ensuring that unnecessary apps are closed, to ensure
plenty of free memory, makes no difference.
    Paul

    Stop press:
It seems the problem is related to the Full Screen option in
projector creation. (While previous full screen projectors based on
the same movie did not show the problem, since the issue came up
non-full screen projectors work OK, and full screen one don't .
Unfortunately I need to use full screen mode as I don't want a
title bar at the top of the screen, and want to use the full
    (re-sized to 800x600 screen area.

  • Magic Trackpad - Pairing Problems Switching Between OS X & Windows

My system has Mac OS 10.6.4 (with Magic Trackpad update 1.0 installed) and Windows 7 (with Bootcamp 3.1 plus the "Magic Trackpad/27" Cinema Display" update). The Trackpad works correctly after setup in OS X with all functions working even after reboots. The Trackpad also works correctly after setup in Windows 7 (with passkey 0000) and continues to work correctly with the supported features with multiple reboots into Windows 7.
The problem is that after using Windows, when I reboot to OS X the Trackpad will not function. It shows as paired but disconnected and will not stay connected. If I un-pair and then re-pair it will work. And the same thing happen when I switch from OS X to Windows - it shows as paired but unconnected and the only way to get it to work is to un-pair and then re-pair.
I had a similar sort of problem with the Magic Mouse and found that if I un-pair in OS X, pair in Windows, and then pair in OS X it will work with both. But the Trackpad won't work this way, even after trying this. I think the problem is that the Trackpad won't allow paring with two different systems (for the obvious reason) but isn't designed to accommodate the Bootcamp scenario.
I really like the Magic Trackpad and would like to be able to use it on those rare occasions when I need to use Windows without the hassle of reinstalling it each time I boot a different OS. Any solution to this problem?

UPDATE: I installed Vista on Bootcamp and tried the Magic TrackPad driver. It has the same problem. I can get the device to work as advertised on the initial install and reboots in the same OS. But when you switch from Windows to Mac OS X (or vice-versa) the device will not work: in Windows is listed as paired and connected, but does not work. In Mac OS X, it will not connect automatically and does not work. If you manually try to connect the Bluetooth icon briefly shows connected and then disconnects.
I sent a bug report to Apple as a "developer" and they state that it is a known issue. I guess we simply wait for them to get around fixing the drivers at some point in the distant future. Clearly they ignore these forums altogether. The experience has left me disappointed with Apple and their slow and inadequate response to problems. I would rather they devote some resources to getting their existing products to work instead of wasting resources to add iPhone-style displays to Mac OS X. If I wanted buggy drivers and no support I should have just stayed with Windows.

  • Problem switching between frames in Flash

I've been having a problem with an interactive Flash CS5 project: when I navigate between frames using gotoAndStop(1); the program experiences the following error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I think this is because the first frame that the function goes to has none of the objects that have event listeners in frame 2.
All I'm hoping to do is go back to the first frame. Would it be best to put everything on one frame and work from there? That seems unneccessarily complicated.

I tried putting my code into frame 1, but then it gave me error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
I believe this is because a lot of my objects are not on the stage until frame 2. I suppose I could have them already in frame 1 and invisible, but I feel like that's an unneccesarily complicated workaround.
Should I be adding my objects using a addChild function, or is it okay to have interactive objects on different frames, such as a start button frame 1, draggable objects frame 2, continue button frame 3, etc?

  • Problems switching between 2 wireless routers

I've got a setup with an Airport Extreme and a Netgear WGX102 running in access point mode (it can also function as a full router). The Netgear device is a very cool piece that has a wireless range extender which uses the house electrical wiring to transfer the broadband connection to a remote wireless access point, and works much better the using the Airport Express as a range extender without a hardwire connection to the Extreme. Here is my problem: After initially connecting to the Netgear device, if I move out of it's range and into the Extreme's range and switch to the Extreme, the DHCP addressing works fine and I can connect with no issues; the problem occurs when I move back into range of the Netgear access point; when I switch the Airport connection back to the Netgear, a bogus IP address gets assigned (169.x.x.x), and the only way it can be corrected is to cycle the power on the Netgear access point (plugged into the Extreme's LAN port). If I pull the power on the Netgear and plug it back in while the TCP/IP prefs are open, a good IP address will pop in within seconds. It's a real bummer. This happens on 3 different Powerbooks running Tiger 10.4.1. Nothing I can do in the Network preferences can cause a proper IP address to be assigned. Rebooting doesn't help either. The only fix is to pull the power on the Netgear AP/router. Cycling power on the Netgear extender doesn't help either. One PowerBook can be running fine off the Netgear AP while another that has jumped back and forth can never reestablish a proper IP address until the power cycle takes place. Very frustrating. Any suggestions welcome.
    Greg

The Netgear is operating in an access point mode, and does not assign IP addresses on it's own, they're still being served from the Airport. The channels are also different, but I'll have to see if there is an overlap issue. I wasn't aware that you had to use specific channels like that (1, 6, 11). The issue with using the same SSID is that it will make it harder to differentiate which wireless device you're switching to, as you'll see the same name twice in the Airport pulldown. Is there a way to get the Airport connection to switch automatically when you're moving from one to the other based on signal strength?
    Thanks.

  • IPod Touch 5g problems switching between Mavericks and Mountain Lion.

My iPod Touch 5G is set up to sync (manually) with my Mountain Lion iMac. If I connect the iPod to my MacBook Air running Mavericks, it works fine. However, if I then connect the iPod to my iMac, iTunes re-syncs all 9,000 songs - taking hours! This can't be right. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried restoring it and copying all my music back to the iPod, but it  still happens. I need to connect it to both Macs, without this annoying issue. HELP!

You can only sync music and videos among different iTunes libraries/computer using the manual method of syncing. Otherwise when y switch libraries/computer, the media on the iPod will be replaced with the media in the iTunes library of the second computer.
The manual method of syncing is included here:

  • IOS7.1 problem switching between iMessage and "send as text" in group thread

Hi I got a 5c a couple days ago, and updated to 7.1 yesterday so not sure which is causing the problem.
I restored my new phone from a backup off my old iPhone 4 and all is working well except this issue.
I have a group thread of 6 friends, who all have iPhones. We have one message thread that has been going on for 18 months or so, all in iMessage. When I first got this new 5c updated with 7.1 and restored from the backup on Sunday, I was sending iMessages normally like I always have.
Today, iMessage stopped working, so I used the option to "send as text message" that comes up when an iMessage fails. But then all my messages on this group thread were going through in green, instead of blue.
Here are the fixes I've tried:
    - I followed older forum suggestions to turn off iMessage, reset network settings, and then reboot my phone. This fixed my iMessage problem within other message threads (with single or group recipients), but all my outgoing texts on this particular group thread are still going through in green. My outgoing messages in other threads are now going through in blue.
    - I actually iMessage mostly from my computer, so I tried sending an iMessage to the group thread from my Air to "jolt" the thread on the phone back into blue. The message from the computer showed up in blue when it came through on my phone, but did not "jolt" the phone back into sending iMessages. They still send in green.
    - one of my friends on the thread sent me a reply, and it came through as a text message although on her end it shows up in blue. this also did not "jolt" the phone back into sending iMessages.
    - I also tried sending a FaceTime request to one of the friends on the group thread, in case that might "jolt" the phone back into iMessage. It didn't work. Boo.
So: is there a manual, thread-specific option for turning iMessage back on? It is working just fine in all other threads, single-recipient or group. It's only this one thread, where I used "send as text message" -- and that was before I did the network settings reset -- where this is a problem.
Please don't suggest that I delete the thread! It is valuable friendship history.
Message was edited by: ebh3777 (i forgot that I'd tried the last strategy on the list)

iMessage will autmoatically turn on if the other person is using ios5 and you have a internet connection when these are not available the message would be sent as normal so it must be a problem with ytour network try settings > general > reset > network

  • How do I fix (Firefox 32 has caused problems) switching between application (without first minimizing) windows and unintended scrolling

When I have several different application windows open I must first minimize the current application window in order to view another application window. Sometimes when I have two windows (for instance a chat window) open, one on top of the other, the top window moves to the back w/o being requested to move.
I also experience unintended scrolling on various applications open in FF 32.
These problems do not occur in IE.

The windows popping may be a system problem. While many users
report this type of problem with Firefox, I have seen non Firefox
windows popping up. Even if the window was minimized.

Can you please try clearning the Contribute preferences?
To Clear the preference, quit Contribute, and then delete the Contribute CS3 folder in C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\ and also run the following command " reg delete "HKCU\Software\Adobe\Contribute 4.1" /f " if you are using Contribute CS3. Reconnect to the site and try the same scenario.
Note that, if you clear the preferences then no connection will be listed in Contribute, you need to recreate the connections. It will be like a fresh installation.
