Problem Synching Video To Ipod

Whenever I try and load an Mpeg-4 video to Itunes my computer freezes for a long time. When it unfreezes the file does not show in Itunes. Any ideas what would cause this and how to correct it?

Double check to make sure podcasts are configured to sync to your device from under the iPod's Podcast configuration tab.
To access the Podcasts tab for your iPod, plug your iPod in and click on it from under theDevices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will bring you to the Summary tab. Along the top you should see a Podcasts tab, so go ahead and click on it.  Here you can configure how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.
If you do make any changes to do this tab, make sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to apply the update changes to your device.
Otherwise, are you getting any error messages when you sync your iPod Classic with iTunes?

  • Problem synching videos on iPad and iPhone

I just got a new laptop and copied my entire iTunes library from my desktop pc to the new laptop. Everything synchs without issue except for video files in my photo directories. This does not happen with my CBT videos that synch under Movies.
If I uncheck "Include Videos" from the Photo tab, the synch runs without any problems. Only when I try to include the videos does this happen. This is happening on both my iPhone 4 and iPad.
I didn't think to try and synch again on my desktop pc so I'll give that a shot when I get home but I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening. Both machines are Windows 7 x64 (desktop is Pro, laptop is Home Premium) and all I did was copy the entire iTunes Library from my user profile on the desktop to the same location in my user directory on the laptop. When I launched iTunes, everything was there just like it was on the desktop. I never had a problem synching the videos on the desktop.
The only difference between the machines is one is Win7Pro, the other is Win7Home Premium and the laptop has the absolute latest version of iTunes.
    Any ideas?

I also sent an email to a Hotmail account that I gave and received a message that it is not a correct email address which it clearly is. All if this is happening only when connected to Apple's software relating to the IPad and I-phone. I do not see how the settings could be wrong in that I have been using my IPad without a problem for about 2 years and the IPhone for 4 months. Also, I do receive emails now without issues.
When I go to the web based Yahoo email I do not experience these problems or with my laptop.

  • Can't synch videos to ipod

i have a 5th gen ipod, i recently switched computers from windows to a mac. I've synched my music and photos, however my ipod won't recognise mp4 films other than the ones i've purchased from itunes. Does anyone know how to resolve this ?. Thanks.

This usually means that either the file is not in the proper format (MPEG4/AAC LC or H.264/AAC LC) or that the format is not in complicnce with the limitation of the iPod player for the correct format. Try opening the file with the QT Player and check the format using the "Show movie info" and/or "Show movie properties" option. If not in the correct fomat, then use a converter to to make your movie iPod compatible. (The specific application to do this will depend on your OS, the source format, and your willingnes to go with free/commercial software.) If the movie is already supposed to be in an iPod compatible format, then the usual problem is one of your video data rate peaking above the limitation of the iPod to play it. In this case you can try lowering your target video data rate or switch to a single pass conversion mode which tends to "clip" such peaks more effectively.

  • Quicktime Pro, Problem Converting Video to iPod

When I convert my movie files using Quicktime Pro I encounter a problem. After the converting is over the video works on my iPod, but the audio track is lost and there is no sound. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    -Jason

Check to make sure it is not a muxed mpeg by opening the source file in QT Player and looking at MovieInfo in the Windows menu. If it is a muxed mpeg you will have to use something other than QT since it will not export the sound from mpegs. Some people have had good results with this freeware, but there are other Windows programs starting to appear for iPod conversion:

  • Problem transfering video to ipod......HELP PLEASE

i have put videos onto itunes(converted them using videoria)they show up on my itues and in my library but when i try to drag them onto my ipod it doesnt highlight. no response at all. i can only drag them to my "pary shuffle" i know this question has probly been answere a million times but i cant figure out what im doing wrong. im even looking in the folder that videoria saves the transfered songs. still no luck adding them to the ipod. please any feed back will help

I have had this problem, and it deals with the amount of data. It is the Average Bitrate, it should be below 500 kbps. Also try using handbrake or DVD2Pod. I use MacTheRipper to rip the DVD and DVD2oneX to size the DVD to under 4.3 Gig. Also a program that helps is DVDxDV which truns a VOB file to a movie.

  • Problem syncing video to iPod Touch

I am trying to sync a video (.mp4) to my iPod Touch and it will not sync. I tried selecting the video in iTunes and then clicking Advanced>Create iPod or iPhone Version, but that option is greyed out (presumably because the video is already in an acceptable format for the iTouch).
I tried updating both my iTunes software and the software on my iTouch - and retried the steps above but no joy. The option is still greyed out.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Problem transfering video to ipod

I bought some video files (tv episodes) from the iTunes store and for some reason some of them will not transfer onto my iPod. The first few files worked fine and play on my iPod fine too (it's a season's worth of a TV show I'm discussing here). But the last few downloads refuse to transfer. They will play on the computer but when I drag them onto my iPod - a new 160G classic - it tells me "XX was not copied to the iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod."
Incidentally, I am running the latest iTunes version (7.4.2 (4)) and iPod OS.
It's especially strange because only some of the video files have this problem, not all of them. And as I said they play fine on iTunes on the computer.
I checked and made sure my computer is authorized for my account. Rebooting, ejecting and replugging the iPod, or restarting iTunes doesn't help. Any advice?

I had a similar problem once and solved it by coping the items to another folder. I then removed the items using the iTunes interface and said "Yes" to the "remove video and delete file" question. I then closed iTunes. After opening it again I used the File > Add To Library menu option and added the items again. It worked for me, maybe it wil work for you as well. You may end up needing to do all that, only to find out you need to re-download the titles from the iTunes Store again. Good luck.

  • Problem: Uploading Video To iPod

Ok here's the issue. 8 times out of 10 when I connect my iPod via USB, it does not give me the option to upload video to my iPod. I would click on the "iPod Options" where you can select Automatically update this and that... and I only see four standard options (Music PodCast Contacts Notes). 2 out of 10 times, it would give me the other options (Photos Videos) and then I can upload videos no problem. But the majority of time, it does not give me this option. I have to continue to remove the iPod from the USB repeatedly until I luckily happen to land on a time when it will allow me to upload video.
And when, during that 8 out of 10 times when I don't get the option to upload video, it removes all video from the iPod so I can no longer view them! How can I get this thing consistant!
Why is this happening? How can I get this thing to be consistant in allowing me to upload videos?

    hiya!
... okay ... this might be a symptom of a USB connection issue. if your USB connection is flaky to precisely the right degree, itunes can sometimes actually see a video ipod (or a nano) ... but it misidentifies it as an earlier version of ipod (without some of the capabilities of the nano, or the video ipod). sometimes, for example, this can cause the photo tab to go missing in the ipod preferences in itunes.
does the ipod icon in the itunes sourcelist look any different during the times you do get video capability from the times when you don't? if so, you might have one of these weird misidentification issues.
if so, some of the general ipod/USB-troubleshooting techniques might be useful:

  • Problems transfering videos to ipod since installing itunes 6.02

So, i just upgraded to itunes 6.02 and now i can't transfer videos onto my ipod. It tells me they aren't in the correct format or a format the ipod can play. Before i upgraded i had absolutely no problems. I have tried taking off files that uploaded fine with the previous version of itunes and uploading them with the newer version and they don't work either. I've got the latest updater software and that's made no difference.
I've used both Videora and Apollo ipod convertors and neither make any difference. I've tried both mpeg4 and h.264 formats, but that doesn't work either.
Why do apple bring out software that creates new bugs?!

I just bought a 5th gen and cannot transfer videos.
The videos are a computer format (could not play on TV) and I converted them to play on Ipod like help file stated. It stated that I can drag and drop to Ipod icon that shows when I connect the Ipod and use ITunes. Well no can do! It transfered to ITunes and will play in ITunes but cannot get to Ipod. My Ipod has a video section so I know I can have them on it. I tried with manual and automatic update selected.
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks

  • Problems with video on ipod touch 64GB

    hi,
I just got the last ipod touch version 64GB and also installed the latest software 3.1.2.
But some videos (mp4 format) wont play. you either have a frozen image (sound plays) or a green screen (sound plays).
the exact same videos play find on my older generation 32 GB ipod touch (the one without the volume switch)
    any ideas?
    thanks

    I have a 3G (3rd generation) 32GB ipod touch . I am running into the same problem.
I have a 6th gen ipod classic, and also a 8gb ipod touch 2nd gen, my videos work fine on both of those.
However, when I put the SAME videos that work fine on both of my other ipods, unto the 3G iTouch, all I get is a green / semi-frozen screen with working audio.
I contacted Apple, they told me it was a hardware issue and to bring it back to the store which I got it (Best Buy) and swap it out. I did so, and my new one does the exact same thing. (At least I got a free set of headphones and usb cord by swapping it out and not putting the old ones in the box, haha Apple)
The only support I am getting about this problem is from online posts such as this one. So far no one knows the problem and Apple reps insist that this is a 'few and far between' hardware problem, however through swapping it out, and reading posts of other people who have swapped it out, I have concluded this is not so.
I prize myself on being computer 'savvy', I can fix almost anything, however with this problem I am stumped.
For now I will just try to wait it out and either hope they fix it with an update or sit on this semi-broken ipod for a year until the next one comes out....

  • Problems converting video to iPod format

So I just finished setting up my new video iPod, new firmware, latest iTunes version, etc.
I subscribed to several new video podcasts and they were delivered as .mov files. So I right-clicked, selected "convert to iPod" and waited.
Everything went fine (mostly, one podcast kept telling me the file wasn't found, but I could play it in iTunes).
But when I tried to sync any and all of the videos to the iPod, iTunes told me that it was in an unsupported format!
Heck, I even ripped a movie to iPod format (the H.264 codec) with Instant Handbrake and iTunes doesn't like that. Or the video that I created from iPhoto.
Reading here, it sounds like the only option to fix this is to use iSquint or one of the other converters. That's a real whip, since it sorta kills the concept of "easy updating" that is a podcast.
Have we just written off the Apple functionality? Is there a way to make it work? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a problem with the iPod?
    Thanks!
    Jake

I can be of minimal help. Some Video Podcasts are downloaded ready for the iPod (example: NBC Nightly News) and some are meant to be watched on the computer (Example: MacBreak).
I personally use Quicktime Pro for converting movie files to the iPod. Quicktime Pro has an "Export for iPod" option that has, of course, worked flawlessly. The reason I say minimal help is that you'd have to purchase Quicktime Pro for $30 or whatever the cost is these days. Another advantage is that it'll play your videos fullscreen. Which isn't necessarily a good thing though depending on the video quality.
I personally haven't converted any non-iPod Video Podcasts but this is how would probably do it. Drag it out to your Desktop; open it in Quicktime; Export for iPod and save to your Desktop; Drag the new iPod friendly Video back into iTunes. Could be a better way but that'd work and be my first attempt.

I have a similar problem, only I've never been able to get videos on there, before or after.
I downloaded videora, converted the videos, and now they're not even recognized on iTunes as videos, just as music. -_-'

  • Problems Getting video onto iPod

    Hey everybody-
I have a feeling that my problem is a composite of many peoples' problems. Here's how everything breaks down: I have a Powerbook G4 running the latest version of OSX and a new iPod 60 Gig 5G (christmas present!)
-I read on the apple website that it is perfectly legal to rip your own DVD's for personal use.
-Therefore, I downloaded Handbrake and used it to rip the movie Freaky Friday which I own, to my desktop.
-The file showed up as an .mp4 on my desktop.
-I tried everything: importing it from iTunes, dragging and dropping it into iTunes library, dragging and dropping it directly onto the iPod icon in the iTunes source list.
-It showed up in the Video section of the iTunes source list, but when I tried to drag and drop it from there onto the iPod i got the same error message that everyone was getting, that it 'wasn't in the right format' with the link and everything.
-I followed the link, which basically instructed me to buy QuickTime Pro, which I did.
-In QuickTime Pro, I followed the instructions for 'movie to iPod' but the progress bar freezes up at 10%, every time.
-I tried changing the original .mp4 file to a .mov file, and it still froze during exporting.
How do I make it export into iTunes, then make it copy to my iPod without error? Pleeeeease help! I am willing to download anything and follow complicated instructions!
    Thank you SO MUCH!

Your Handbrake "rip" may not meet the requirements for iPod use. Anything from the wrong dimensions to too high of a data rate could cause it to "fail".
QuickTime Pro isn't "freezing" at 10% completion. You are too impatient for the conversion. It could take a day (slower machines even longer) to convert a DVD rip to iPod friendly specs.
Plenty of lawyers in D.C. (I lived there for 50 years) would conclude that you don't own the right to "convert" the DVD to iPod format because the conversion creates a new product not intended by the copyright holders.
I doubt the police on the Metro would enforce (copyright Police force?) would take notice once you do get the film onto your iPod.
Test the "Export to iPod" setting using a 5 minute "cut". Open the Handbrake rip and copy 5 minutes of the file using QT Pro. Paste this cut into a new player window and save.
Time the export (you may be disappointed) and then you'll know how long the entire file will take to export to iPod settings using H.264 video codec.

  • Strange Problem exporting video to iPod MP4...

I purchesed Quicktime 7 Pro last night, because I have been eager to put some video on my brand new 5th g iPod. I decided to start with a 23 minute episode of a T.V. series I have on DVD. I ripped it to my hard drive, then followed Quicktimes exact instructions to export it to iPod MP4. I did this at 9:30 AM this morning, and it is now 4:25. The progress bar says it is only 22% done!
My computer statistics; 2.26 Ghz processor, 512 Mb ram and an 80 gig hard drive only filled with about 30 gigs worth of data. It is virus free and runs like a dream, so why is this export of a 23 minute video taking so impossibly long????? Does exporting naturally take this long? What is the normal exprt time of a 23 minute show?
Thanks for any help or advice you can offer, I will really appreciate it.

I too have had this issue. It takes me 45 minutes to convert a 3 1/2 minute trailer. Videora freeware works infinitely better for me because it stretches video rather than letterbox it and it zips through files when converting them.
    Hope that helped you out.
