Problem syncing blackberry between 2 macs

Good morning all, hope I can get some assistance.
I have a client with 2 macs- an iMac and a macbook pro (both running the latest versions of BB desktop for mac).  While the iMac syncs calendars correctly (2 way), the macbook pro sync (2 way in preferences) does not show calendar changes made from the blackberry reflected onto the iCal.
Any ideas/suggestions.  All of the preferences for 2 way sync are set correctly, and right now I'm at a loss for what can cause it not to write the updates/additions of calendar items onto the iCal calendar

Hi lukegt
Welcome to the world of happy Mac users, and glad to hear you switched.
You've got a host of different options open to you in regards to sharing files, or syncing files.
It really depends on which preference you have. I'll doubt I can even scrape the tip of the iceberg... but here goes:
First, my personal suggestion is to get a second drive for your files. As a matter of preference, I wouldn't want my important files on the same drive that I'm backing up on. It kinda defeats the purpose. If the backup drive fails... all is lost in your case (back up and originals).
To begin to point you in the direction of your answer...
You can either network a hard drive (via Ethernet, or wirelessly via Airport Extreme or Time Portal), or you can use a file sync program like CrushSync (see downloads section of Apple.com page) to integrate your data.
If you're really savvy, you can begin to delve into Automator actions...
If you opt to network a drive, you'll be working in the actual file.
If you opt to sync, you'll be working on remote copy of the file and syncing it later.
Best wishes and happy hunting. With the gurus perusing these boards, you're bound to find an answer you can use.

  • Sync Mail between 2 mac's

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to sync Mail between my two mac's? Using .mac or some other avenue? I am not only using .mac email but also a POP server and g-mail. thanks!

    Hi,
To sync mail between two macs (also with the web browser and iPhone) yo need to set up the email accounts using IMAP. .Mac is automatically set up as IMAP. For gmail account the setup instruction can be found at
    http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=81379
For POP server sync is not possible, you simply can read your email within an email client. Check with your email server, if they offer any IMAP access by any chance.
Read the following thread for better setup of an IMAP account,
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8007668#8007668
Other additional sync can be made using MobileMe in system preferences.

  • Sync folders between two Macs

    Howdy,
I want Mail on two of my Macs to be in sync. I have a lot of rules set up and once the rules are applied the mail is sorted in local folders so it disappears from the inbox. This of course causes it to no longer be available on the other Mac.
Looking for an application that can sync files I select between two Macs whenever a change is detected on either of them, in this case my Mail folder and peferences. This can go directly or through an OS X server that's running 24/7. I don't want to move my folders to the mailserver but keep them local.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had a Macbook Pro for about a year and a half and love it so much that this Christmas I decided to buy myself a second Mac. I got a refurbished 24 inch iMac and just set it up last night. During the setup it occurred to me that there are certain folders on both computers (documents, pictures, audio, downloads, etc) that I would like to have available and synchronized between both computers. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd like to do this. Does this functionality exist in Snow Leopard?
no. not unless you want to use a command line tool like rsync.
If not, are there any 3rd party apps that will solve my problem?
you can use Chronosync or ForkLift. also, you can sync not directly between computers but via a cloud. there are many services that do that. there is apple's own mobileme. another very popular one is DropBox.
    Thank you for reading.

  • File syncing/sharing between 3 Mac Pros

Does anyone know what I can use or buy to sync/share files between three Mac Pros. Kind of like a network, where one file can be opened in any computer and the changes synced throughout.
Example: an InDesign file is opened and worked on and closed in Mac Pro A, another user could open the same InDesign file on Mac Pro B and see the updates done in Mac Pro A?

Are you accounts the same on the mac's in question?  I just tested this at my home.  When you access the shared folder, how do you log into the shared folder?
    For example:
I'm on a Mac Pro, username is xxxx
My wife on a iMac, username is yyyy
My sone on a iMac, username is zzzz
When I access files on the iMac, I select it from the sidebar and use account yyyy (I know the password).  Now I can access any of the files and work on them directly.  When I log in as xxxx, I can't access the files in her account, I can only access the public folder and then to read only.  Think about your strategy to deal with this.  Several come to mind where you don't need to share passwords....maybe a neutral account called homeshare with the appropreiate password.  Everyone just logs in as "homeshare" and puts in the password.  All files are located in the homeshare account.
I also have a 2TB disk on my AEBS (airport extreme basestation).  This drive is setup to allow any of my family members to access it.  It works great as a simple file server.  Just remind people to dismount it when they are done or you'll keep it spun up.  This is method goes by the name NAS.
Look at this picture...see the "connect as" button?  When you connect as someone with an account on the machine, you get full access to that account

  • I got it. Syncing Blackberry Storm using Mac with Missing Sync

I just bought my Storm Sat and have been trying to sync for days. I have a IBOOK G4 running the latest TIGER OS. I read all you guys post and I think it all helped a lot. Im a new BB user so it took me awhile to figure the phone. Ok, so anyway to the good stuff. As mentioned I followed some of the other threads, installing Pocket Mac and the updated driver. Uninstalling and re-installing. Taking the battery out and all that. None of that worked for me either like some of you. Keep getting the error message. So, I broke down and bought Missing Sync. Still wouldn't work. So, tonight I uninstalled PocketMac and deleted all files associated with off my Mac. Then I brought Missing Sync up on my Mac. On your Storm go to Options then Memory. Click on Mass Storage Mode Support select On. Then when you see Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode I selected Prompt or you could do Yes. Save Changes. Then go to Missing Sync just set what your preferences are for sync and click Sync. Boom- you are good to go.
This is what I did. It sync my Itunes and IPhoto and everything else. So, now Im at piece. Hope this will help someone. To everyone else thanks for your ideas cause it did help me with my dilemma, so I guess I will keep the Storm.

i managed to get both music and pictures onto my storm from my macbook, and from my storm to my macbook.
i had to go into options on the storm, then memory, then to "prompt" for auto enable mass storage mode when connected.
then i disconnected and re-connected the usb with pocketmac open on my macbook and it started synching. at first it synched everything BUT my music and photos. then i noticed when i plugged the usb back into my storm once more, two seperate blackberry harddrives appeared on my desktop, Blackberry1 and Blackberry2. I went into Blackberry1, then to the folder "home", then to the folder "user", then to the folders "music" and "photos" and just clicked and dragged music from my itunes library and photo library into those folders. then I tested it to make sure it worked. sounds great on the storm! it has to be done into the folders on Blackberry1 though, i tried it with Blackberry2 and even though it has the same folder names, when i tried to play the music i had dragged and dropped said it was an incompatible format. it's not the format, it's just the wrong drive.
hope this helps someone out, it worked for me!

  • Sync contacts between two macs

I would like to use iCloud to sync my Contacts between two Macs. How do I get the Contacts "On My Mac" to do this?
    Thanks,
    Frank

Thanks. You said: "When you setup iCloud the On my Mac contacts should've been moved to iCloud I think (can't remember what happened in my case)."
Actually that does not happen, or at least it didn't happen to me.

  • Sync iphone between two macs

How do I sync my iphone between two macs. An imac at home and a macbook pro. I want them to work equally if possible
    thanks

I want to be able to sync my iphone to both the imac and the macbook pro. Everything equally. Apps, music, photos etc.
When I updated to ios, using the macbook pro, it wiped everything out. I had to go to my imac and do a restore from a previous version to get things back. I want both macs to be equal when I synch with them.
    Can I do this?
    thanks

  • How to sync calendars between two Macs without Mobile Me?

Is there a way to sync calendars between my wife's Mac and my Mac without Mobile Me? They are in the same house and I don't see the need to go thousands of miles and over the Internet for that purpose. Thanks.

Yes, you pretty much just drag and drop or copy and paste depending on which way you like better. It is pretty much like connecting an external hard drive. Just find the files you want and copy them over to your other computer.
This is one of my favorite features from Macs. It's very simple to do and because it's Firewire even large files transfer over very quickly.

  • Problem syncing Mail between two computers

I know this is a well worn topic and I've read the posts on syncing mail between two computers. Overall, I've gotten it to work pretty well. Whenever I move from one computer to another, I copy my ~/Library/Mail folder to my thumbdrive and sync it w/ the same folder on my other computer before I fire up Mail on it.
But here's the problem: I rebuilt the "sent" mailbox on one of my computers (let's call it computer A). This apparently gives new message numbers to the messages. Things worked great on computer A after that.
Then I synced the mailbox with my other computer, computer B. On computer B, the change in mailbox numbers apparently was not recognized. Every message in the "sent" folder gave me the message that I needed to go online and download the message. So I rebuilt the "sent" mailbox on computer B. Things then worked great.
Then I synced back with computer A and the same thing happened. Every message in the sent folder gave me the "download from server message."
It seems that I'm in some sort of infinite loop. The rebuild on one computer is not recognized by the other computer. Clearly, there is some file somewhere that contains info that's not being conveyed when I sync the ~/Library/Mail folder.
    Any suggestions??

That is interesting. To that effect I have thrown together this Applescript:
(CAUTION... do not run this script, experimental only!
    set flashDrive to "FLASH"
tell application "System Events" to exists process "Mail.app"
if the result is true then tell application "Mail" to quit
-- copy files to mounted disk
    do shell script "rm -r /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/"
    do shell script "cp -r ~/Library/Mail /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/"
    do shell script "cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/"
    --copy files to userfolder
do shell script "rm -r ~/Library/Mail"
    do shell script "cp -r /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail ~/Library/"
    do shell script "cp /Volumes/" & flashDrive & "/Mail/com.apple.mail.plist ~/Library/Preferences/"
Problem is, I don't know how to tell the script which version of mail data is older or newer. If you know of such a way let me know and I'll script it in, otherwise the user is stuck with manually choosing what to copy to where.
And as we all know, any user choices are error-prone.

  • How do i sync note between my mac, ipad to my android device

Hello everybody! I have a question about syncing notes. I have new ipad, macbook pro and an android device and i really want to sync notes between them. Icloud sync and gmail sync work perfect on my 2 apple devices but it doesn't get on my htc, (i use gnote on htc, a application that synce with gmail). When i go to gmail.com to check my account, i saw all notes are there but it just doesn't get on my htc. So is there any resolution for this? Thank you !

Julian why do you need to so unbelievably rude about it.  Clearly he is just looking for help, and he understands that there is an issue with the google, and HTC, and as well as with his Apple products.  The fact is, he is using his APPLE MAC to create the note, so naturally he would come to an Apple forum to look for a solution, not to have someone with a god complex tell him to go somewhere else.  Get over your ego and maybe you can actually try to help him, and if not, then keep your remarks to yourself.  You wasted more time continuosly trying to tell him to go elsewhere when you probably could have spent half the time actually trying to help him.  Oh, and please do not bother responding to this trying to come up with any sort of excuse or telling me how I'm wrong or ignorant, because I truly do not care what you have to say.  Take care.
ngongja, I know it's been a year since you posted, but for anyone else that is having the same issues, there is an app you can get from the Google Play store called iNotes which syncs your Mac and iOS notes with your Android device.
    Hope that helps!

  • All of the Appoints in my calendar do not sync properly between my MAC and iPad

it is really frustrating - some (with no rhyme nor reason) of my appts that I book into the calendar function on my iPad do not then sync across to my MAC Air.
Does anyone know of a solution? Or what might be causing it?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There may be a variety of reasons for this, such as different page set ups or fonts being substituted.

  • ISync.  Syncing calendars between 2 .mac accounts?

Hi. My wife and I each have our own .mac account. Is it possible to sync our iCal calendars through iSync?... so that when one of us adds an event etc. it appears on the others calendar?
Thanks in advance to anyone with an answer or some advice.

iSync is for syncing Contacts and Calendars to mobile phones and PDAs only. It doesn't do Mac-to-Mac syncing.

  • Sync iTunes between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad

    Hi,
I had 1 macbook, iPhone and iPad. I had synched my iTunes with all these devices. Recently i bought one more mac book and i would like to synch my iTunes with the new macbook. When i connect my iPhone or iPad to the new macbook my iTunes are not getting synched.
I had the home sharing option turned on and now I am able to view the iTunes library in my new macbook only when i have the iTunes turned on in my old macbook. If i close the iTunes in my old macbook, iTunes in the new macbook is not able to access the songs.
Without having my old macbook turned on, is there a way that i can synch my iTunes with the new macbook.
Basically i would like to keep my iTunes synched between 2 macs, iPhone and iPad.
    Old Macbook Pro - 13 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    iPhone - 5S - iOS 8.1
iPad Air Mini - Version 8.1
    Old Macbook Pro - 15 inch - OS X Yosemite - Version 10.10
    Thanks
    Srinraj

I've done this manually. Someone may have an AppleScript, who knows?
Turn on File Sharing on both computers (really only needed on the machine with the songs). I presume you have a network connecting the two computers, AirPort?
From Finder on the MPB, select Network (make sure "Connected Servers" is selected in Finder Preference / General). Attach to the source computer's HD so you can see the folder containing the iTunes music.
    Launch iTunes on your MPB.
Make sure "Preferences / Advanced / Keep iTunes Music Folder Organized" is CHECKED.
Select "Add to Library" in iTunes on the MPB, navigate to the mounted folder from the source, and select the albums or songs you want to bring over. I do a sort on "time" to find the newer additions to my iTunes Library.
You can multi-select, etc. using the usual Apple conventions.
iTunes will crank a while, and copy the files from your server to your MPB.
    Good luck!

  • How do you sync calendar between 2 macs now that .me is gone?

Is there a way to do this anymore?

Do I have to select the box "Synchronize with MobileMe" and select "Automatically" to have this happening in the background all the time?
    Yes.
Also I'm very confused about which direction the syncing goes. I synced the iMac to MobileMe and got MobileMe to take on the Contacts of the iMac. If I sync the MacBook to MobileMe I don't want MobileMe to take on the Contacts of the MacBook, but the other way around.
I suggest getting everything available in the "cloud" as you prefer to start with. With the sync function on your Mac, there is an advanced setting that can replace contact information on the "cloud" with what is available on the computer, or replace contact information on your computer with what is available on the "cloud".
After getting contact information on the "cloud" as you prefer, enable automatic syncing with both Macs and everything should work as expected or desired from that point forward.
When enabling push access for contacts with the iPhone, all contact information available on the iPhone is replaced with what is available on the "cloud" to start with, and any changes made to contact information on the iPhone afterwards is pushed to the "cloud", and any changes pushed to the "cloud" from either Mac or changes made to your address book via webmail access with MobileMe will be pushed to the iPhone.

  • Permissions problem copying files between two Macs

I've run into a strange problem when trying to copy files between two networked Macs. Some background facts: We have two Macs at home each with three accounts. Two of the accounts are regular user accounts (my wife's and mine, call them "K" and "B" for short) and the third is an administrator account (we'll call it "A"). I have a .Mac account, which I use to sync between the two Macs. The other accounts do not. The user accounts B & K were initially set up on the second Mac via the Migration Assistant, copying over files and settings. The administrator account was not.
The problem I've run into is that if I am logged in as either user B or K on the local Mac, connect to the remote Mac as the corresponding user, and try to copy files into a folder owned by that same user on the remote Mac, I get a series of three dialog boxes with error messages:
    1) "You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named ..." (stop/continue)
    2) "The item ... contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?" (stop/continue)
    3) "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
If I go all the way through this hitting continue / OK on each, what shows up on the remote computer at the end is an empty file with the name and filetype of the local file that I was trying to copy, but of zero length.
This only happens when I'm copying from (local.B -> remote.B) or (local.K -> remote.K). It does not happen if I try any of the other pairwise combinations (assuming that I've authenticated properly): (local.B -> remote.K or remote.A), (local.K -> remote.B or remote.A), (local.A -> remote.B, remote.K or remote.A). It happens regardless of which Mac is local and which is remote.
I'm a little baffled. I've tried to search for this on Apple Discussions and other forums, but either haven't been using the right keywords or am coming up blank.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Bob

borbye is correct that this will remedy the problem but there is a way to do it and have your account work. after changing the user UID and group UID to 501 you will have to restart. then when you log on your home folder will still be your default but you will not have any access. Since you are still an admin you can change that. right click on the home folder and select get info click arrow for sharing and permissions. Your old UID account will show up as _unknown delete this user and add your user to it giving yourself read and write privilege. click on the cog on the bottom and select apply to enclosed items. A warning box will appear stating that this process cannot be undone do you wish to proceed? click yes and a status bar will come up. once the bar is gone the process is complete. since you didn't have access to your home folder you cannot save your settings, this is a good thing since your account will not look remotely the same as yours most likely. all you have to do now is logout and then back in. Your account will look as it did before the change with all the access settings and so forth as before the change... minus some permissions due to the overwrite. It's a minor repair to the permissions to some shares considering you will be able to now move files to and these shares without the permissions alert that only creates a 4kb file instead of the real thing. Takes 5 minutes at most. Have fun.
