Problem syncing from iTunes to iPod - authorisation error.

42 of 625 songs won't transfer to iPod when trying to sync. I've got the latest version of iTunes, reset & restored my iPod & made sure my PC is authorised, but error window states "you are not authorised to play these songs on this computer". Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi Firefly999,
Have you tried re-authorizing your computer? To do that:
First off, disconnect your iPod from your computer.
From the Store menu in iTunes, click on Deathorize computer....
Enter in your Apple ID & password to deauthorize ths computer.
Then, go back to the Store menu again, and this time select Authorize computer....
This time, authorize your computer.
Close iTunes and any other running applications, and save your data. Restart your computer.
After your computer has fully loaded up, open iTunes, and connect your iPod to your computer.
Try syncing those purchases to your iPod, and see if there's any difference with this problem.

  • Not Copying From iTunes to iPod, No Error Message

I am having a very annoyingly difficult time. I am trying to add music to my iPod like I have been for years now. For some reason, iTunes is simply not letting me. I try to drag and drop a playlist onto my iPod, and the playlist is created on the iPod, but no music gets transferred! If I do the "sync" option, it gives me all kinds of problems with "can't find" the songs. When I show iTunes where the music is again, it still won't copy the songs over!
It seems the ONLY songs it will transfer over for me are ones that I had to convert to AAC because they were WMA format.
I have reset my iPod back to factory defaults, I have done everything I can think of. Nothing works, and it's driving me absolutely nuts!
I would really appreciate if someone could help me find the way to fix this issue so I can keep using my iPod. Thanks!

For some reason, hooking the iPod up to my wife's machine (which it worked fine on) seems to have done the trick.  When I reattached it to my machine, it updates fine from iTunes.
Wish I had tried that first before restoring it.

  • Songs not syncing from iTunes to iPod

I'm in the middle of transferring computers for the fourth time, and each time I run into a different problem. This time, I've successfully transfered my songs from my iPod (5th generation) to iTunes, but I can't sync songs or movies onto my iPod from iTunes. Is this a problem with iTunes or my iPod, and how do I fix it?

Check your update settings. Connect your iPod and click on it's icon in the iTunes source list (the narrow pane on the left). This will bring up the preferences tabs in the main pane on the right. The first tab you'll see is Summary, look for "manually manage songs and videos", if there is a check mark there then the iPod is set to update manually and you have to drag songs from the iTunes library to the iPod to load them on. If you want to update automatically you need to remove the check mark from there (I would also remove the "enable disk use" check mark unless you want to use the iPod as a removable storage device) and click the Apply button in the right hand corner:

  • Help-cannot download podcast from itunes to ipod.  error msg

I have the IPOD video 30gb, 5th generation, and have itunes 7.02..
I am able to download the podcast from itunes into my library, but am unable to download it onto my ipod. an error msg pops up:
"...was not copied to the IPOD because it cannot be played on this IPOD."
I've searched and searched for an answer to this, and it appears to be a somewhat common problem with the itunes upgradeto 7.02
does any one have a solution?!?
HELP! (i'm an ipod newbie-and this is driving me absolutely MAD!!)

    OMG-i just figured it out!!
*first of all, i came across this in the itunes store help area-->
"Why won't some video podcasts play on my iPod?
Some video podcasts, while playable in iTunes, are encoded in formats that are not compatible with iPods. To convert those videos so that they are iPod-compatible, highlight the video in iTunes, right-click on the selection, and choose "Convert Selection for iPod". iTunes will automatically re-encode the video for playback on iPod. Go to the Movies section of your Library to find and play the converted episodes.
*i had converted the podcast previously, but i had just continued to try and transfer it from the podcast section rather than going to the movie's section, and dragging it from there. once i did that, it worked!
hope this helps anyone else out there, as i did come across a few other queries...

  • How to correctly sync from Itunes after Ipod touch

    Hi,
I just got a new Iphone 3G, after having used an Ipod touch. I synced the Iphone from Itunes, and all my existing apps and settings have synced OK, but all the apps are empty and none of my photos, videos etc. have synced - even though I went through every tab on the device in Itunes and pressed Sync. What do I need to do to get my Iphone just like my Touch?
    Thanks,
    Richard

Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes. Make sure you have at least one contact in the contacts list on your phone. Connect your touch, do not sync, rather right click the touch in the device pane and select "backup". Once complete, un-mount your touch, connect your phone, DO NOT SYNC, right click the phone in the device pane & select "reset warnings". Once done, right click again and select "restore from backup". Select the backup you just made. Once the restore is complete, this must be followed by a sync to put your itunes content back on your phone. You should get a popup regarding your contacts, to merge or replace, select merge. All you should have to add to your phone are wifi & email passwords, as these are not copied over for security reasons. Your phone should now look exactly like your touch.

  • Need help with syncing from ITunes to IPOD

Hi. I'm relatively new to ipods but I just got an IPOD mini. Since it only has so much memory(about 4g) I want to sync specific songs, not have Itunes do it automatically. When I clicked on the "manually manage music" I can see it works but only to a certain extent. You have to drag EVERY SINGLE SONG to IPOD in Itunes INDIVIDUALLY!! I cant do that everytime I wanna switch up my IPOD library. I also clicked "only sync clicked items" hoping that in my normal music library, if I click the box to the left of each song that I want to be synced and uncheck the songs I dont want sync'd that would work. Will it? Because that's all I want to do, just sync particular songs without having to drag 1000 songs. Clicking would be so much easier.

Using unchecking to manage an iPod is an option but only if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.
A better option to use when your iPod is smaller than the iTunes library is 'Sync Music - Selected playlists'.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano or Mini). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Some Podcast Playlists not syncing from itunes to ipod

There's no problem with the actual podcasts syncing to my ipod and they play on the ipod.  The playlists are the same in both itunes and the list of podcast playlists on the ipod tab in itunes.  I've reset the plays, deselected and reselected, set them to not auto delete.  I've 'Marked as Watched' and then 'Marked as Unwatched'.  All the playlists are set up the same way.  I've tried sycing using both methods of 1, using the 'File> Devices>Sync xxxx etc and 2, the sync tab in bottom right corner of the 'Podcasts' tab(ipod tab in itunes when ipod connected).

    Just a stab:
The song titles need to have a check mark next to them in order to sync.
    Thanks ... Ken

  • Some videos fail to sync from iTunes to iPod Touch

There are 38 movies (or videos) in my iTunes and total is 3.45GB but when I sync this with my iPod Touch only 22 of these are sync into my iPod. iPod capacity should not be an issue: i still got 4.18GB free space and the entire movie/video library is only 3.45GB (after 22 of the 38 videos have been stored).
When I go to "DEVICES" under iTunes and go to my iPod and then check out the "Movies" tab, I can see the FULL list of the 38 movies but some of them are in black text and others in grey text. Those in grey text are not sync onto my iPod Touch. What should I do? Please don't tell me to reset the iPod Touch!

The videos that show in grey text are not in the proper format to play on your iPod. Select the video in your music or movie library and use the iTunes "Advanced" menu to "Create an iPod or iPhone version".
    Then try your sync again.
The iPod Touch will only accept video formatted as described here: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/specs.html

  • Unknown error when trying to sync from itunes to ipod

Does anyone know what the problem is? Everytime I try to sync music onto my 4GB ipod nano, a message pops up saying:
Attempting to copy to the disk [ipod name] failed. An unknown error occured (-54).
I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I restored my ipod and reset my ipod, but I still don't know what is wrong.

Thanks for you suggestion roaminggnome. I tried typing in 13019 like you said and it gave me a few options to try and fix it but none of them worked (of course). I fiddled around with it for a while some more on my own and some how got it to work again, lol. Thanks again though for offering a solution.

  • Apps won't sync from itunes to ipod

Hi everyone, hopefully someone can help me with a frustrating problem!
As it stands I can download apps (via my ipod) and use them with no problems. However, I cannot sync ANY apps currently stored on my computer to my ipod. Ipod + itunes are both up to date, settings are the same as they always have been (working with no problems for the last year), music and video syncs fine.
If I remove an app from my ipod I cannot put it back on....all relevent boxes are ticked but apps won't appear in the ipod screen viewer within itunes.
Any help would be great thanks.

Have you reset your iPod and rebooted your computer?
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Some cover artwork does not sync from iTunes to iPod

I got the album artwork using the "get artwork" feature, but there are a number of album covers that show up in iTunes, but don't display on my iPod after syncing. Most of the artwork synced ok, but there are a few that for some reason don't display. Suggestions?

There's a couple of things to try.
First, highlight all tracks before using Apple's 'get artwork' feature. Most people already do this.
For really stubborn albums, and I've had a few where there's no logical reason why the album cover doesn't show on the iPod, try removing the offending tracks from the iTunes library (no need to send them to the trash), then locate them and re-import by double clicking on them, and 'get artwork' again, then re-sync.
Failing that, remove the tracks again, but this time attach the album cover to the track's ID tags directly. You can use something like MediaRage for this. Now the artwork is embedded with the track info and automatically shows in iTunes and the iPod.

  • Some music not syncing from iTunes to iPod Touch

I downloaded music from two different artists recently. I created playlists for both. I changed the number ordering on the playlists a bit. And now I no longer have those artist's music on my iPod. I have tried:
    * Restoring original settings
    * Double checked the file types on the music
    * Manually added the music back on to the iPod, then synced
    * Adding ALL of the music library onto my iPod (hoping those artists will be added too)
    Nothing has worked. Any suggestions??

    Just a stab:
The song titles need to have a check mark next to them in order to sync.
    Thanks ... Ken

  • Converting bitrate while syncing from itunes to ipod?

    Hello.
My itunes library is mainly in MP3 320kbit. I would like to have the files converted to MP3 128kbit on the ipod (nano or 5G), but the files on the pc should remain in 320kbit.
Is there a way for this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

The shuffle was (is?--not sure if new version still does this) the only player that could convert song files on the fly. It would be a great feature on Nanos and iPods!
I've saved all of my music as 320 kps MP3s too. The drawback is that these are large song files and you can't get very many songs on a 4gb Nano. I have a very large music library, so I have to make a playlist for my Nano anyway. Occasionally, I'll convert the playlist to smaller AAC files (this takes a while, though). I'm not very patient, so I tend to change the music on my Nano frequently and just live with fewer songs and the bigger file size.
When I have converted the songs to the smaller file size, I end up with duplicates in my library. I uncheck all of the AAC files so I only have one workable version of each song when I play an album in my library.
