Problem Syncing Hotsync 4.1.0 to M105

Question

I am using Hotsync 4.1.0 in a Windows 2000 PC.
I have 2 Palm devices  M105 and Treo 650.
Both are set to the same device name since I could not figure out how to make them different.
I have successfully sync'd the Treo 650 to the PC, but when I last did it I added a Treo-specific app to handle ring-tones.
Now when I attempt to sync the M105  I get a fatal error which I cannot seem to get around.
Resetting the M105 and attempting to sync again ends up with the same result.

I have no idea if the problem is due to the Treo-compatible Hotsync version or due to the Treo-specific app or something totally different.
I would like to be able to sync both devices with the apps which work with them but I cannot determine how to eliminate the Treo-specific apps from the M105 sync process.
But I want to include the Treo-specific apps for its sync.
How to I get out of this quandry???

This is exactly what is causing the issue, you cannot sync 2 different models to the same username in Palm desktop. This will cause the exact problem you are having.
You need to have 2 distinct usernames for each device and sync to different usernames in Palm desktop.
If you still have the apps downloaded on the PC to where you can install the apps during a sync, you will need to re-install to each device after the process below.
You need to hard reset your devices and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old
Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
