Problem Syncing iPod tough 3gs

Hi. I'm having problems syncing my ipod touch 3gs. When I connect into itunes, my ipod is recognised but my app window is greyed out. What's happening here? I've restored my ipod a few times to get it to work again but then I keep getting this problem. I'm fed up of aiting 2 hours for my ipod to be restored each time I connect to itunes

Yes it is - and I'm using the same login. Have more than one ipod touch - is that what's causing the problem? It's not happened before.

  • Problem syncing ipod classic

my ipod classic, which i have had for 3 and a haf years, has recently had problems syncing the stuff on my itunes to my ipod
at first i re set my ipod & started up again which didnt take to long or take up too much room
however the last 2 weeks its has taken over 2 hours to sync 1 podcast from itunes to ipod which really isnt good enough,
also i have recently been getting my ipod filled up with an "other" section, which takes up loads of room, no leaving any for songs or videos
anyone else got a similar problem to me that could help me out or at least tell me what im doing wrong?

I don't know what's wrong with your ipod, but I have the same problem. I have however discovered how to stop the sync process once it freezes. Once you know it is frozen, click the stop button in the sync boxt at the top (several times). Then put the computer on standby. This sometimes takes a few minutes because the Itunes is using all the resources. Then wait until the ipod disconnects, resets itself and starts up. You can bring the computer out of standby. When itunes starts again - takes a few minutes, it will stop the sync and you can safely remove the ipod. This is the only way I've been able to get music on the ipod for the past 3 weeks. I never had any problems like this before. I have a 160 gig classic that is over a year old.

  • Problem syncing ipod showing error (-69)

tried to put purchased itunes songs on ipod but just keeps saying error found (-69)

    Hello stokie65,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you had a chance to look at this Apple support document? If not, it would be a good place to start at least.
[iTunes displays a -69 error when syncing iPod|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1210]
If the problem lies with a song you purchased from iTunes, I would report it to Apple and request another download of the song.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1351 Am having problems syncing iPod classic 160gb to iTunes within Windows 8. Can you help?

I bought my iPod Classic 160GB from new in April 2012.  For several months, I ran it through an older HP laptop running Windows XP home edition (service pack 3 I think?).  I did however, use a Toshiba external hard drive to store all CDs/podcasts/photos etc.  All worked very well and I put a fair amount of music (via CDs and podcasts) on the iPod via iTunes.  All worked successfully.  I changed computer earlier this year - another HP laptop but now running Windows 8.  I've downloaded the up to date edition of iTunes AND have also transferred all existing material/files from the same Toshiba external hard drive to the iTunes in my new computer.  (think I did this correctly?)  So far, so good.  I have placed some more music on the external hard drive and into iTunes and wanted to sync with my iPod.  I connect iPod to the computer.  It's recognised in iTunes as the window comes up showing iPod's serial number and settings etc etc.  The iPod screen shows 'sync' and the top of screen in iTunes also shows 'syncing' however, after a few seconds, this stops and the iPod screen shows 'OK to disconnect' without having transferred any of the new music onto the iPod.  Although all the existing music remains on the iPod (the stuff that was there before), the copule of new CDs hasn't been transferred over.  Can anyone help me solve this problem?  I hear that there are some problems at the moment syncing iPods within Windows 8.  Anybody else had this problem?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello hindzee,
The acticle below goes over how to sync content to iPod Classics. The section titled "Syncing automatically" will most likely be the most helpful protion of that article for you.

  • Problem syncing ipod nano with itunes after external hard disc install

Since moving the itunes library (without a hitch) to a new external drive we have had a new problem which presumably is linked! When the ipod is plugged in all seems normal at first, the ipod syncs ok, then the system hangs at that point. itunes says "syncing ipod do not disconnect" (Even though the sync icon has vanished from next to the ipod on the itunes screen)likewise the ipod says "Do not disconnect". Windows then opens a "Autoplay" window which is obviously searching for files, with the torch graphic. This continues with the computer frozen. Cancelling the autoplay, leaves it saying "Cancelling" but it doesn't. Ctrl-alt-del is required to stop it, but that causes the computre to actually require a switch off. The fault is obviously with whatever is triggering the "Autoplay", but the ipod correctly lists as drive H, it doesn't seem to be a drive letter confusion. (Unfortunately it is impossible to learn which drive the autoplay is searching, and why, and what it can't find! Is there anybody that can help, as itunes is unuseable with ipod at present. I have tried completely removing and reinstalling itunes/Quick time with no effect!

Recently I transfered my entire iTunes library over to my external HDD
How and what exactly did you transfer?
and completed all of the necessary requirements to be able to play my music back from the new folder location (i.e. changed the location in iTunes preferences and consolidated everything etc)
This should been done before you transferred anything.
Now I have gone to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes and it keeps coming up with an error
What exactly is the error and when do you see it?

  • Always had no problem syncing iPod but now when I connect to computer it says iTunes detects a device but can't verify properly. Nothing is appearing under devices or on right hand side it's not saying "privates iPod" anymore to drag songs to.? Help

iPod not verified properly in iTunes a device is detected. Then on right hand side of computer screen doesn't say privates iPod anymore to drag songs to from my library ? Under devices nothing is ther ? Always had no problem? iPod doesn't even beep when plugged in or automatically backup anymore because iTunes sees a device but not sure what it is? What happened? I've tried 3 different cords too!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - See if another computer sees the iPod in iTunes
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Problems syncing ipod touch and updating all the software, etc didn't help

I went to sync it and itunes would freeze when it went to update a certain song (one which was fine before) so I deleted that song and it continued to sync after I rebooted itunes, etc. Gets to a different song (one which worked perfectly fine before) and then itunes freezes again. So I delete that and it continues. I then tried to sync after rebooting again and itunes freezes before it even gets to the songs. I tried a restore, etc but now half of my songs aren't on the ipod and things are not improving. Syncing just isn't going down here.

I tried part of this - it would probably take three days and a hundred CDs to back up all my music. I did the first part and changed the file. My problem there is that I store my music and podcast files on an external hard drive, so though I changed the file as per the instructions, since my storage area is not my hard drive, it didn't help at all. I did try copying all the music files into the new folder as instructed and did a sync - same problems as before - no syncing, freezing up, no content on the iPod. For some strange reason my podcasts come over just fine and they are in the same file as my music. If it's an iTunes issue, then I think you should replace it with the next older version until this issue is resolved. Very frustrating - this is the third day I've spent on it - I'd much rather be outside in the nice weather LISTENING TO MY MUSIC. Thanks.

  • Problems Syncing Ipod Nano

I plugged my ipod nano in like normal, and when I hit the button to sync it, it said that "songs on the ipod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
when i unplugged my ipod, all of the songs were gone, but they were still in the itunes library on the computer...
    please help! thanks! :]

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod. If the playlist selected is deleted from iTunes the iPod no longer has a location to sync from and you get an error. (Syncing selected playlists by the way is a useful setting to use when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library). However you can make a new one or make use of an existing one.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • Problem syncing iPod click wheel games to nano 3rd gen?

Hi, I've recently encountered a problem with syncing up my old nano with all of my click wheel games. I was hoping someone could help me, as I need to figure this issue out before Christmas. So, here's what's wrong:
I plug in my iPod to the computer, bring up iTunes, and set up all of the games I want to sync under the "games" tab. Once I click sync, it recognizes that the files are missing (I've tried to locate them, but to no avail; I think they've been deleted).
My problem; however, is this: I also have a 2nd gen iTouch. When apps for this iPod are corrupt or can't be located, all I have to do is find the app in the iTunes store, click "Buy" again, and it automatically downloads it for the second time, free of charge.
For the click wheel games; though, it seems that this tactic doesn't work. I tried going to the games section of the app store and tried to download the files again, for free, by clicking "Buy", but then it proceeds to tell me this: "You have already purchased this item. Would you like to buy it again? If you buy it again, you may have duplicate items. If you can't find it in your iTunes library, make sure it's been downloaded by selecting Check For Available Downloads from the Store menu."
And, by the way, I tried the advised method, too, which brought me: "All purchases have been downloaded for this account. You can burn a CD, DVD, or use shared folders on your local network to transfer them to another computer."
So, I'm at a loss. I don't want to buy all the games again, so if someone could please help me fix this problem, it'd be really appreciated.
    Thanks.

Im guessing the game isnt stated for ipod nano 5g so prob' no.
Sorry couldnt be of more help, unless you can find it in games and download it again for this generation ipod.

  • Problem syncing iPod Classic with iTunes

A couple of days ago I purchased several albums from iTunes, but none of the songs will sync with my iPod Classic.  I just purchased some other songs, and they synced fine.  I have the current version of itunes and have never had this problem before.  I have approximately 7,000 songs on the iPod. I have tried everything I know. Any suggestions

    Hey catwoman001,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far! iPod software version 2.0.5 is available for the iPod classic 160GB (Late 2009). If this is your model, you may want to update the iPod. If you are having issues with your iPod, the following troubleshooting assistant may help:

  • Problems syncing iPod Touch (2nd generation) with iMac under Mountain Lion

When syncing my iPod Touch (2nd generation) with my iMac (under Mountain Lion) the entries in my diaries/agendas do not sync. Apps and music sync without a problem. What must I do?

I have this problem.. and after spending time at the Genius Bar yesterday, I discovered that my old ipod touch is obsolete..( the Ipod touch is a 32.bit system, while the newer operating system is 64... so they're simply not compatible.)
I expressed great dismay that my perfectly good ipod touch was now obsolete...  then the genius suggested I export my contacts and calendars to Google..
That was easy to do, and then, on the Google community forum i learned about nuevasync.com, which lets you synch all of this back to your ipod touch via Exchange.
    WOrked like a charm.
Nuevasync. com is free for an initial trial (10 days?) and then costs only 15$ per YEAR.. so I'll use this as a good work-around

I have never come across this problem before but I have the 80GB iPod and I tried to update and sync it and iTunes does not have the sync option available. • Problem Syncing ipod - Otherwise, Works Perfectly

i have an issue and i honestly don't know whether its an iTunes issue or an iPod issue. I am currently unable to add/delete/play anything off my iPod through iTunes right now. Now, this is the weird part. I can ssee everything listed thats on my iPod, but i cant do anything actually with the file. It's like the filename is a grayish color that when clicked on, nothing happens. Now I can unplug my iPod from my comp, plug in headphones or use in my car like i do, and everything works perfectly. What is the problem? What do i do????

*Now, this is the weird part. I can ssee everything listed thats on my iPod, but i cant do anything actually with the file. It's like the filename is a grayish color that when clicked on, nothing happens.*
Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
