Problem syncing movies to ipd - Blue dots??

I have 22 movies (films and clips) on my itunes account but when I sync to my ipod (80gb classic) only 10-12 seem to go on it. More so that the ammount, when I look at choosing the videos manually to go on the ipod, a number of them have a blue dot on the left hand side of them, these seem to be the ones that wont sync! Does anyone know what these blue dots signify and how I can get all the video contents of my itunes onto my ipod?

I think i discovered what it is. I deleted the movies from my c drive to save space, i thought once they were in itunes, that was enough! so when i went to sync, all the ones that were erased from hard drive were still showing up in my library but not available to sync onto ipod!? that make sense?

Problem syncing movies to iPad

For some reason I am unable to sync more than a certain number of movies to my iPad2 64GB it appears that it for some reason arbitrarily limits me to 12 movies.
Any ideas as to why this would be the case?
But I can purchase movies from the iTunes store and it adds them with no problems, but then after transfering purchases to my mac, it will remove any of the new purchases and bring me back down to 12 movies.

I'm somewhat hesitant to suggest this - but have you tried removing all of the movies from the iPad and then try to sync them all back to the device? Unsync and then sync again?
You are using the same Apple ID on both devices and it is the same ID that all of the movies were purchased with - correct? You are signed into the same account on the iPad and the MBP? The new movies are not being purchased with a different account?
Your iPad isn't age restricted for the content on the movies is it? I don't know if you could even download them in the first place if it was - but I'm just trying to think of anything that might be causing this to occur.

Problems syncing movie to iPad

I purchased and downloaded a movie onto my MacBook Air, now it will not sync and put the movie on my iPad, says this computer is not authorized. I've tried to restart both devices, same message. Any advice?

It is the same Air I use for all my purchases, and I sync the iPad to it several times a week. I've synced a gazillion other items -- songs, videos, movies -- with no problem. Everything is logged into the same account, and I double-checked the computer to make sure that it was authorized.

Problem Syncing Movies

I tried a few movies and I keep getting an error saying "could not be copied and played on this device". I tried my own movies, movies copied into iTunes, all work fine on computer and apple TV....what videos are supported on iPhone???

Blue dots next to movies listed in Apple TV tab on iTunes?

When I open Apple TV in iTunes and go to the movie tab, some of my movies have a blue dot next to them and others don't. What does this mean?

The blue symbol means the movie has not been viewed. You can do a search in ITunes that will list that will explain all of the other symbols.

Problem sybcing movies

I'm having a syncing issue. I manually sync ATV and for some reason, the movies I have recently purchased directly on atv are not showing up in my itunes menu so I can't watch them on my imac. However, if I purchase on my computer and then sync the movie is on my imac and atv. what am I doing wrong? This has never been an issue before. I thought it might be because I recently bought an external HD and now store itunes on it but that would mean I should have problems syncing both right?

Podcasts & Movies - No 'blue dot' for marking as new

Now that I've updated to 7.6, whenever I mark a movie or podcast as new again, using the contextual menu, the blue dot doesn't show back up next to the title.
The 'blue dot' works though for my TV Shows. It's just movies and podcasts that the blue dot doesn't show up.
Any ideas anyone?

Yeah. I've repaired permissions both manually and by my monthly Cocktail run, but it still does it. I have downloaded a few 3rd party apps but it's hard to say which ones I've downloaded recently coincide with the problems I've been having. I don't rule that possibility out - thanks for the suggestion.
I wonder if it has something to do with my recent purchase of a new iPod Touch (32gb) though. I've been putting a lot more video in my iTunes since I bought the iPod so that I can watch them and iTunes hasn't been liking that at all. In fact, when I try to open a video (TV Show) in iTunes it's a 50/50 shot that it will freeze my whole computer. Sometimes it does, and sometimes iTunes just pauses for about 10sec before starting to play the video.
The videos sync and play beautifully on the iPod but iTunes doesn't like them at all. Could this have something to do with it?

Blue dot next to some movies

since update I have received blue dots next to movies i've gotton off of itunes and when i try to play them on ATV it tells me not correct format but they are iTunes movies I've purchased from the site is this a glitch or there something else that should have been done after the update? After last update I had a lot of issues like that where in the past all was good.
To finally fix I un paired the computer to the AppleTV (thus it erased the AppleTV).
I then shut down everything. Started modem back up. Waited. Started Router up. Waited. Started computer back up. Waited. Started AppleTV, waited. Then told AppleTV to sync with a computer, got the code. Went to computer and re-entered code to pair up for syncing. Then set all my sync options and let it resync everything back like before. After that all was good.
Now you can just try unplugging your AppleTV and turning off Computer. Reboot computer, wait, then plug in AppleTV. Then try that before going the whole re-setup process. Odds are that will fix it.
Blue dots just means AppleTV and iTunes both think you have never watched that file.

I am having a weird problem with my phone every since it was updated this last time. I can sync movies from my computer to my iphone but any movies I buy with my phone I can not sync to the computer. But I redownload it to the computer and can then sync.

I for the first time since buying my iphone and ipods for almost three years am concedering getting rid of them as I am getting tired of this problem. I can sync anything from my computer to the iphone. I can not sync movies bought on the iphone to my computer. I have tried everything and spent days trying to trouble shoot. I literally have bought hundreds of movies off Itunes but will not buy any thing else until I can figure this problem out. I have uninstalled Itunes reinstalled, troubles shooted using the itunes trouble shooter and reset my phone and nothing works.

You are correct. Syncing should transfer any purchased media, including videos, from your device to your iTunes library provided your computer is authorized for the Apple ID used to make these purchases. You mentioned that you have uninstalled iTunes before, but if you didn't follow this guide exactly, uninstalling iTunes and all of its components in the order specified, it may not have been successful so you should try again: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7.

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Why are there little blue dots that appear next to my movies?

There are little blue dots that appear next to the movies that i have started to download. Also i just started to download a movie, and i am not sure if it is even downloading. Please Help!

The blue dot just means its new (meaning you havent watched it yet). You should see the same blue dots next to Text Messages and Emails that you have not read.
You can check your current downloads in the iTunes Store App > Tap more in the bottom right > Tap Downloads.

Blue dot next to unwatched movies?

Under "My TV show" I can see a blue dot next to my unwatched shows. This feature does not seem available in the "My Movie"....
Is this normal?

The blue dot means the file in question has not been viewed by you yet, either in iTunes on your computer or on the AppleTV. You've probably opened all the movie files already, hence no blue dot. You can mark the files as "New" in iTunes and get the dot back if you really want.

HT4236 photos are syncing without a problem however movies in the same folder do not. How do you sync movies from iPhoto to the iPhone?.

How do i sync movies from iphoto to my iphone? photos in the same folder sync just fine but no movies.

As noted in th article you came from, tick Include videos on the Photos tab.

I have just got 2 new ipad 4, and i have sat them up from a icloud copy from two different iphones. but one of them i cant sync movies to, but the other on does. i have gone trough the settings on both, and they are simmilar. what can i do?
the one that doesent sync movies -
i have sat the settings to manually manage files. And i drag and drop the movie in to the ipad (just lik i do with the other ipad), and it starts to go trough the sync on the top of itunes, but it doesent copy the movie over.
when i klikk the ipad tab, ang go to ipad content i find the movie under "movies", but its greyed outl. and isnt realy there.
what i Wrong???
