Problem syncing music library

Hey,
I have my iTunes syncing to AppleTV on a custom sync, All my Movies and TV Shows have synced fine, but when I choose to sync my whole music library, it only syncs 229 items, when I have nearly 2000. Anyone know why this may be?
Thanks,
Oliver

Go to the folder/playlist - whatever....then go to EDIT SELECT ALL...then go to the first item on your list - right click - if it is already selected you'll have to uncheck selection, then do it again and choose check selection. It keeps the 'select all' option

  • Synced music library keeps vanishing!

Since the recent update I have noticed that the synced music library on my AppleTV keeps vanishing as if I don't have any music on it. In order to get it back, I need to go to Shared Music and then back to My Music on the AppleTV menu. The problem happens severa times a day. I have tried rebooting the AppleTV (in fact I usually have to reboot it at least once a week due to the fact in freezes).
Is the instability caused by having a second computer sharing its iTunes library with the AppleTV? It's getting abit irritating when you have listened to an album and then go back to select another album and find the whole music library has disappeared.

This problem seems to have been fixed with update 2.3 which I've been using for a numbers of days now
Pity about some of the other new problems introduced with update 2.3 though

  • Problems syncing music....

ever since upgrading to itunes 7.1 and 7.1.1, i've had problems syncing music to my ipod. When I use the dock and the firewire connection, it is extremely slow to transfer songs from itunes to ipod, then the ipod eventually just freezes. When I connect the USB 2.0 cable, it transfers songs quickly, but then just automatically shuts itself off and ejects itself from itunes/computer. then I get the message that "the device was not put away properly". please help, thanks!

I am having a similar problem. I have not been able to sync my ipod since updating to 7.1.1

  • Having a problem syncing music and I-tunes...please help!!!

    Hello,
I am new to this and will try to explain it best as I can. From what I understand about syncing, the music on my Iphone will sync to the music library once I plug my phone up. It does this automatically. That is fine and what I want it to do.
However, for some reason, I have 173 songs in my library and I want all of them to sync to my phone, but only 135 of them are doing so. I don't know where the problem lies.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Does an error message show that says why certain songs can't be synced? Sometimes it can be because the songs aren't authorized on the computer (if some came from a different iTunes account for example). Try playing one of the non-syncing songs in iTunes to make sure it works. Also, check the size of your files. Depending on who the songs were imported into iTunes it's possible that the files take up more space than your iPhone has available. Example would be if all of your songs were ripped from CD's and were large WAV files. If that's possible try converting the songs in iTunes to a smaller bitrate. If none of that helps you may need to try restarting or resetting your iPhone....or maybe even restoring it. Not sure if this will apply to you but it can't hurt to look at it. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1474

  • Can't sync music library with iPod Touch

I gave my iPod to my son. He erased my music library and put his on. He gave iPod back. I erased all his music and tried to reload my music library. I updated iTunes from Apple website. Could not successfully transfer ANY music.
I searched through discussions and found some suggestions. I restored iPod to original settings, removed everything.
Apps I originally had on the iPod and some new ones synced beautifully. Music library would not. Unclicked manually managed iTunes. Unclicked Sync all iTunes in library. Clicked APPLY where applicable. Uninstalled iTunes on PC and reinstalled. iTunes will not sync.
I cannot put a checkmark on all songs in the library. The checkmarks will only go so far down and then quit. There are too many to do that manually.
it has 59.42 GB capacity, 4.3.1 software version.
So what do I do to syn my music library? And what are the exclamation marks appearing to the left of the column for check marks? Sometimes they appear and sometimes not.
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am at my wit's end. Thank you.

For anyone who might read my post and have the same problem, the above link, second option to try work like a charm. I have my music back. I had to go looking for it and clicking on one of the pieces to play it in iTunes worked. Not all the music was located right away but it was still findable.

  • Problem Syncing music to iPod....PLEASE HELP!!!

When I click on the sync ipod icon a warning message pops up saying that the songs can't sync because all playlists selected to sync no longer exist.
What can I do to fix this problem???

This problem arises when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • Problems Syncing Music - iPod data erased

I have a friend who has a 60GB(?) Fifth-Generation iPod that she purchased a few months back, and she's been having some trouble figuring it out.
The most recent (and only, at the moment) problem she is having involves syncing music. Whenever she goes to sync her new music from he library, her iPod wipes itself clean of all files. It was working perfectly fine before.
How can she go about fixing this situation? She has the most recent version of iTunes and her operating system is Windows XP.
    Thank you.

You cannot auto sync with more than one computer, well yea you can, but you've experienced what happens when you do. You CAN however manually manage your music and get music from multiple computers. Please see this article about doing that:

  • Trouble syncing music library.

I recently noticed that some albums, songs and playlists are not syncing correctly from my Macbook Pro to my iPhone 4S. When I go into my music on the phone, I see some albums, songs and playlists listed, but when I go to play a song, it appears on the list in light grey text and will not open or play. I went to check on my laptop and the songs are still there and play just fine. Previously, these songs were able to be played on the phone and this problem seems to have occurred/coincided with my software update of iTunes. Anyone have any idea what's going on or how I might fix it? This problem seems random and is affecting only a small portion of my music library. It occurs with both songs/albums I purchased directly from iTunes and also with songs loaded from CD's. Last note: I synched manually by connecting to computer and did not sync via iCloud.

Update: After hours of looking for an answer and trying all things Apple, I noticed that at the bottom of the screen on the phone along with playlists, artists, songs, albums, there's also a button that says "More."  I clicked and went to "Shared" and noticed that there's two options: My iPhone and (my) Library. I switched from My Phone to Library and voila! Problem solved. I hope my hours of frustration can help someone else.

  • Nokia N96 - Problem Updating Music library

Hi, I have transferred some music to my N96 and I am now trying to Update my library to show the new tracks. I have done this lots of times without a problem but today I had it refreshing for 2 hours and it didnt change off the refreshing screen. I have tried stopping it and taking my battery out and still no joy.

Since posting this problem I have been able to use the Music Player quite normally.
The problem and solution, I believe, lie in the way that Nokia's proprietary software (in the case of Macs this is Nokia Multimedia transfer) organises music files.
Nokia Multimedia Transfer organises music into folders named A-Z (and 0-9 if applicable) by artist on the phone. It also truncates folder and file names - folder names seem to be truncated to 13 characters and file names to 9 - fortunately, ID3 tags are not affected.
Any attempt to subvert this hierarchy will result in an incomplete scan of the music library. As Nokia and other methods result in completely different file structures it is necessary to remove all previously synched music from the phone and making a clean sync using Nokia's software.
Additionally, I discovered that as I was trying to synchronise multiple media (music, photos, videos, bookmarks) the whole process would become kind of stuck - that's why I tried alternative methods of synchronising my music. I have completely given up on all other media synchronisation for the sake of getting the music sorted out.
This isn't ideal but at least it works and it saved me from jumping up and down on my phone in shear cartoon frustration!

  • Problems syncing music with iPhone

I have an iPhone 5, 64GB running iOS 7.0.4.  Problems with syncing music.  Please read all
For a while now I have been experiencing some difficulty with my music on my iPhone.  There were a few purchased songs and some non-purchased songs (from CDs etc) that weren't going on my iPhone when syncing.
So tonight I tried to fix this and I selected to not sync all music (so all the songs could be removed from my phone) and then re-sync it all.  This gave me a problem as it said 124 of my songs were not copied (these song files are definitely not corrupt or anything, they were on my phone before I synced this evening).  So I tried to do the whole sync once again but I don't know what has happened this second time...
My phone is now showing 20GB of 'Other' data (this wasn't on there before).  I cannot add hardly any of my music as apparently my phone has no space left (I can assure you less than 2 horus ago I had about 28GB of free space, and that was when I had my 28GB of music already on my phone!).
So yet again I try to re-sync my music (when I do this I tick/untick the 'Sync Music' checkbox in the Music tab of my iPhone in iTunes).  I want to try and remove all the songs and then re-add them again.  But I cannot remove the songs.  There are 5 songs (I purchased these songs from iTunes store on my Mac) that will not delete from my phone.  I delete them manually on my phone but as soon as I sync my phone (even with the Sync Music box UNticked) they go straight back on there!
I'm normally quite good with this stuff but I'm at a complete loss.  It has been stressing me out for the past 2 hours and now it's worn me down I just have nowhere else to turn.
    1) How can I remove those 5 stubborn songs from my iPhone?  Perhaps answers to later questions means I might not have to do this but I'm a little OCD and knowing that there are these 5 songs that for no reason won't remove themselves off my phone is annoying.
    2) How can I check or fix the 20GB of Other data?  There is definitely nothing there.
    3) How do I re-sync all my music?  I have 4268 songs but when I tried to re-sync the first time only 4125 went on.  The rest didn't but I don't know why.  The files are fine, they were legally purchased etc.  In fact I have one album with 100 songs, only 4 of them were synced that time.  Randomly 96 of them had no space to sync?  Why would only some of them go on my phone?
    4) Any help whatsoever!  I'm at a loss of what to do   This has troubled me ever since 7.0.3.

If I restore as new will all my music, contacts, apps, message history, etc be deleted?
Okay before I try that I had one more go at syncing...
I went to settings and usage and deleted my music that way.  I re-synced my phone, all my music went on except that the first 49 songs, under Song List, all play the same song.  When you click on any of the first 49 songs in the song list they all play the same song (not the song they should be playing).  I deleted this one song off my iTunes but it has had no effect.  When I uncheck sync all songs then my Music shows No Content (which sounds good).  But when I re-sync, all my music goes on (apparently) but I have these 49 copies of this one song that shouldn't be on there.  The file is even no longer in my iTunes Media folder on my Mac.  I guess there must be something corrupt on my phone, although I'm not sure how it has occured.

  • Problems Syncing music Manually after Disabling Itunes Match

I recently disabled iTunes match and since doing so I have been unable to manually transfer music to my iphone 4 or transfer purchases from my iphone to my itunes... anyone have a clue to how I might fix this? It's very wierd, it's almost like my computer doesn't recognize my iphone as being assocaited with my account..

Now I deleted all settings and data from my iPad, restored from backup and tried to sync all music again. Now most of the titles are synced. But there are still about 10 title, that do not sync.
If I browse for them on the iPad (in iTunes) the information shows the following:
    Size: Stream
    Data rate: 256 kbit/s
The song in my library is an MP3 with 192 kBit/s. So this information is completely wrong.
For me it seems, like the music library on the iOS devices got screwed up. The question is, how can I reset my music library without losing all the other data on the devices?

  • Problems transfering music library from RealPlayer to IPOD

Just bought the 80 gb IPOD. When I transerred my music library, which is very large and (unfortunately) on RealPlayer, many of the songs are cut off when I play them on the IPOD. They still work fine in RealPlayer on my computor. But the IPOD cuts out (and goes on to the next song) when there is approximately 15% of the song left to play. Very strange.
More key facts: 1. library is about 68GB. 2. All of the library was originally saved using the RealPlayer software. 80% of the library is in the RealAudio format (.ra extension); the balance is with the MP3 format. The songs that cut out on the IPOD are all ones that were saved with the RealAudio format. The ones with the MP3 format work fine on the IPOD. So, 80% of my songs on the IPOD end early 3. Most of the songs were saved on the then-current RealPlayer version during 2004 or 2005. So it was not ancient technology. All was saved at 192kb/s whether it was in MP3 or RealAudio format. Any help would be very much appreciated.

"The songs that cut out on the IPOD are all ones that were saved with the RealAudio format. "
That is the problem. That format is not compatible with the iPod.
You need to convert them to a format that is.

  • Problem syncing music to my new iPhone with my new MacBook Pro

    Hi all
I am having some problems syncing my music files to my new iPhone. I get the following message when trying to complete of sync.
"The World" was not compied to the iPhone "iPhone" because it could not be found.
I would note that I am tring to complete the sync on a new MacBook Pro. This message never appeared on my old PowerBook when syncing to an iPod Touch.

  • Problem Syncing Music

    Hello.
I got a 4th generation iPod Touch back in December 2011. It has always synced perfectly, music, apps, etc. Everything was fine, up until about a month or two ago.
It had the music I had previously put on it back when it was syncing fine, but now it refuses to add new music.
Things are all checked. There's room on the iPod. I made sure the music files are not corrupt, and so forth. Everything should work.
What I've found is that when I try to sync new music to it, it just shows up in the "Music" category of my iPod, but it's grey, with that greyed-out "syncing" symbol next to it. I'm honestly not quite sure what this has to say about the songs.
The only way I've found I've been able to add any music to it is to restore my iPod completely. I've done this a few times in the past month, and I assume you can see why there would be trouble with having to do this every time I want to add new music, even if it is just one song.
Other than having to restore it, there have been a few times where if I connect my iPod to my computer after disconnecting it (with the greyed songs still on the iPod), it will sync them in the sync it does when it first connects to iTunes.
However, recently, it hasn't even done that. iTunes will freeze during "Step 4 of 5: Determining Apps to Sync", and if I leave the page, it won't let me access it for a while. When I am able to return to iTunes, the sync is over, but the songs have not synced to my iPod.
Like I said, the songs are all checked. I've tried changing from Manually selecting music, to just Syncing music, and neither work. The music files play in iTunes and are fine. Could it possibly be something with my iPod's software? It's up to date now, with iOS 6.
Can anyone help me with this?

Disable your security software. Reinstall itunes with security software off or removed. Ones that commonly have to be removed completely are Mcaffee, Kaspersky, AVG, Malwarebytes and Free Norton. The others usually cause less problems.

  • Cannot sync music library after download apps from icloud

I just brought an ipad4. I used icloud to download my iphone apps into my ipad. However, doing such, I cannot not sync my music library. Please help! The strange things are that I can do it into my ipod and iphone 5

    Welcome to the discussions,
you can only sync to one itunes library at a time. If you change your computer or replace the HD and install a new OS, itunes will create a new library and the phone will not sync to this one unless it got erased before by itunes.
To get your music back to the phone make sure your new itunes is authorized in the Store menu: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
