Problem Syncing music to iPod....PLEASE HELP!!!

When I click on the sync ipod icon a warning message pops up saying that the songs can't sync because all playlists selected to sync no longer exist.
What can I do to fix this problem???

This problem arises when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

    Hey jt14,
Thanks for the question. I found an article that goes over several reasons why your songs in iTunes might not be copying to your iPod:
Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod

If none of those solutions apply, I would run through the recommended syncing steps outlined in the following article, and check and see if you're following the manual or automatic syncing process:

Ok I've had my Ipod since last Christmas and I've tryed plugging it into the computer the last few days and all of a sudden it doesn't sync. It doesn't show that my Ipod is connected when Itunes is up. I can see my Ipod charging but it wont sync my songs. Please someone help me I love my ipod.

Yeah I have the same problem, only I got my iPod just this past June. I keep plugging it into the computer, and it's being recognized by the computer because it's charging, but iTunes isn't seeing it because it won't give me the option to sync it. I tried turning autosync on and off and I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, but it still won't do anything. Can anybody help?

  • Albums syncing twice to ipod please help

When i download full albums from itunes it syncs twice to my ipod.  I n laymans terms can somebody tell me how to delete them from my Ipod please?

How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to sync with your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.
If it's automatically, you must reconfigure your settings (from under the Music and/or Summary tab) so that the album you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod.  Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents (i.e, the Manually manage music and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab), you must manually remove content from it.  You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will open up a submenu of content, so go ahead and click on Music. Locate the track or tracks you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.

  • BIG problems syncing music to ipod...help please!

    Hi
I am having all sorts of trouble with my ipod – a 4 g mini.
The problem is occurring when I try to load music onto it. It is extremely temperamental, and iTunes will suddenly freeze when I am syncing a track – different tracks, not the same track each time. The ipod then freezes and I have to reboot it and start again – usually losing all the songs on it.
When it happens the screen will say one or all of the following…
“The file or directory \ipod_control\itunes\itunesControl is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the chkdsk utility”
Or, “ITunes cannot read the contents of the Ipod. Click ‘restore’ to restore this ipod to factory settings.” (I did that, didn’t help).
Or, it will the “ipod cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found.”
Or, “Windows was unable to save all the data for the file E:. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
I have tried then to sync the tracks one CD at a time (instead of the whole lot together). I normally get some of the way through before it all freezes up again and I have to start over.
I have wiped iTunes off my computer and downloaded it again, but that hasn’t helped
I have Ipod 7 downloaded onto my computer (which doesn’t have broadband). My Ipod software version is 1.4.1
Have I just got a dodgy ipod? Is there anything I can do? This is driving me CRAZY!!!!
    thanks
    Emma

  • Which songs are synced to my ipod, please help!

Earlier today i played my ipod and it had all the music on it i liked, this evening i added a few more songs to my itunes while my ipod nano was not connected. When i went to sync them together to add on my new songs, my itunes said something about being synced to another itunes and if i wanted to sync my origonal music, i ticked this box thinking it would still have all the music on i payed for and the songs i downloaded. Instead it came up with lodes of old songs that i deleted ages ago. I was thinking it may of been synced to another itunes a while ago and this has happaned before but i did the right thing then. I just really want the music back I have payed for and cant seem to get them by going to the store menu for some reasoon? please help

Your music will only be where you put it.  it should be on your computer and included in your regular backup of your computer.

  • A Few Questions/Problems With My New iPod *PLEASE HELP*

Hello! I just received my first iPod (4th Gen, 4GB, Red Nano) two days ago (Christmas Eve) and have so far been fairly happy with it. However, I'm experiencing a few problems with it and am hoping that someone could help me.
Firstly, a few of the album covers on my iPod are just black squares. I've read other complaints about this on the forums, but haven't seen any solutions. What can I do to fix this?
Second, I can't figure out how to put my songs in order. On iTunes, it allows me to put songs in alphabetical order, but being that most of my songs are part of full albums, I want my songs to be in the order of when they play on the actual albums. When I try to drag my songs into their correct places, I'm not able to.
Also, is there any way to delete the games that my iPod came with? I think they might be taking up too much room for my liking...
OK, well if you can help or add some extra tips to getting started with my iPod, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Big Problem with brand new iPod please help ME!!

Hi, I just today got a brand new iPod. I pluged it into my computer and put on about 700 songs immediatly. Then, I tried to put video on my iPod. It said it would not do this because it's not the right type of iPod. But it is a 5th Gen. iPod and it can play video. Anyway, I installed the latest iPod updater. Now, it says to install the new iTunes 6.01. So I tried but it says my disk is full. It is not full. Also, do I have to keep my previous "iPod for windows" files that are occupying space on my disk?

    Kenny,
If you can back your songs up, and you have not rated a slew of them already, it might be a good idea to uninstall iTunes, then reinstall it and use the ipod updater to wipe the iPod. Just make sure you download and install 6.01 before you plug the iPod in. Maybe that will get you past the disk full problem. Just something to try.

  • Trouble with sync'ing new iPod, please help!

So I jsut spent the last hour plus on the phone with Apple, and the problem I'm having is that I need to Microsoft XP Service Pack 3 installed for iTunes to work with the new nano. The snag is that I'm using my work computer and it won't let me install that new service pack (I'm currently using service pack 2). Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway I can get the new nano to work with service pack 2? I just bought this yesterday so I don't want to bring it back unless I have to.

You need administrator privileges to install service pack 3. If you are not the administrator, i suggest that you talk to someone who is. You said that this is your work computer. Is it on a network? Do you have an IT guy who can help you? Sorry that i cant be of much help, but you need to elaborate the problem.

You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:
