Problem syncing sent mail

The "Sent mail" folder on my iPhone does not syncronize with the "Sent folder" in Mail on my mac. I use a .Mac account.
How can i resolve this issue???
Thanks in advance,
J.
iMac 20inch 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Id be curious to know this as well. i've noticed on mine that it tries to send and then pops out of Mail. But when I go check my sent mail on Yahoo it was sent. AND when i've check if the email was recieved...normally...there are like 10 of the same emails depending on how many times I tried to send from the iPhone.

  • Problem with "sent" mail folder-how do I trash the prefs in Apple Mail?

Since no one has answered my original request for assistance regarding my "Sent Mail" mailbox, I'll move the issue aside and approach it differently: How do I trash the prefs in Apple Mail without trashing my inbox and all the other mailboxes? Trashing the prefs works for most apps, but if I do that to Mail, I'm screwed. My real problem remains: I can no longer see or read the email in my "sent mail" box; I can see the info identifying the entry, but I can't read the contents of the email. It's all there in the Mail folder on my hard drive, but it doesn't show up in the Mail app.
So how can I trash the prefs for "Mail" without trashing my inbox?

    Hello b:
I have only had to trash the Mail preference once, and I cannot remember what occurred (except that the application worked OK after that).
Before you trash the preference file, try rebuilding the mailbox(s).

  • Syncing sent mail?

Can iSync syncronize emails in the sent mail folder? Or perhaps less clearly stated, when I send an email using my laptop, the message is saved in my sent folder. When I sync up my laptop with my iMac, can I set iSync so that the previously mentioned message, sent using the laptop, is now also in my sent folder on my iMac? Get it?

iSync does not synchronize mail at all: it is responsible only for synchronizing contract, calendaring and task data between the Address Book and iCal with mobile handsets and Palm devices.
.Mac Sync will synchronize Mail mailbox structures, rules, signatures and smart mailboxes, but only structures, and not content. A forum for .Mac Sync exists here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=957
To synchronize mail, you need to employ IMAP technology instead of POP3 for the accounts you access. You can learn more about IMAP by browsing the Mail & Address Book forum, here:

  • How to sync sent mail from iPhone to MacBook Air mail?

I have sent mail from my iPhone and I want this sent mail to show on my laptop (MacBook Air).  Is there a setting that will allow for this?  I use Apple's Mail on my laptop.
    thanks

    Hi,
To do this, you must be using an IMAP email account type.
If you are using a POP mail account it is not possible.

  • Problem Reading Sent Mail

    Hi There,
When I try to read my sent mail on my computer @ work (20" iMac G5 2GHz; OS X 10.3.9), I see the following message instead of the email I sent:
+The message has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.+
Trouble is that the account is online when I get the message. Also, I've got the prference set to delete messages from my ISP's server once they're downloaded.
If I quit Mail & re-open it, I can read one sent mail but have to quit again & re-open Mail again to read another.
    Any help is appreciated.

You'll probably get a more informed answer if you post in the [Panther Mail|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=740] section of Discussions.
    Good Luck,

  • Problems with Sent mail and multiple accounts on the same server

I have 2 different email accounts that are on the same server. Regardless of the account from which I send the email, all of the sent messages end up in the same sent folder. Is there a way to force the sent messages to go into their correct Sent folder?

In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. With that folder open, do Edit > Select All (⌘A), then Edit > Copy (⌘C), and paste it in your reply to this post, to let me see the names of the files and folders present at the root level of the Mail folder.
Before actually posting that information, you may edit it so that the file/folder names do not reveal any details you wish to keep private, e.g. you may replace any real username with "username" to hide your real email address if you wish; similarly, you may disguise any domain names you don't want to be revealed. Try to be consistent in how you disguise those details, though, as we may need to refer to them in subsequent posts.
Now, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. With that folder open, repeat the process to let me see the names of the files and folders it contains. Again, you may disguise any mailbox names you wish to keep private. Be careful to not alter any suffixes, though.
Finally, for the two accounts involved in the problem, locate the account folders within ~/Library/Mail/ -- their name begins with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. For each account folder, repeat the process to let me see the names of the files and folders it contains.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

  • Problem syncing e mail

I then decided to try outlook2007 which has imported the settings to my PC fine so that all mails to my virgin address appear through Outlook 2007. However I now can't seem to set up my Iphone correctly. I thought I could just set it up to sync with outlook via I tunes. However my contacts and calender is fine but I can't pick up e mails. Do I need to set it up again on the phone. I've tried to do this but can't get it set up correctly. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • AOL Mail - PROBLEMS with sent mail

My mail is with AOL. Quite often these days I have trouble using Apple Mail. Wondering if it's AOL's problem or something wrong with my computer, or if it's my cable internet provider (Time Warner Cable - which tests at 20/1.75 Mb/sec)
Sent messages occasionally take FOREVER to send (regular text - no attachments). The transfer speed goes from very low to zero. The second problem is that occasionally sent messages don't show up in my sent folder. Most of the time it's these messages that take forever that don't show up. They don't show up in my sent folder at aol.com either. As if they never existed. Yet I do know that they are actually being sent and delivered.
    Major frustration.

I have not had any problems using AOL?
Either had I until today. I got a restricted content message when I attempted to post. I had originally used "aol.com" in my message. I assumed this was the problem, so I removed the ".com". Still got the restricted content message. I tried changing "AOL" to "America Online" and it worked.
Strange. Seems to be allowing me to post it now. Don't worry about it.
With the other Sent folder you found, apply Use This Mailbox For and choose Sent. Be sure to first transfer any messages in the one under paper airplane icon to another mailbox it they are not duplicated anywhere else.
When you do this, all should be well. I think AOL sent out instructions at one point to do just this step.
Thank you Ernie! This worked! Bravo!

  • Problem syncing updated Mail accounts to iPod Touch

I updated all my Mail accounts to IMAPs, but iTunes still syncs the old POP account information to the Touch. So when using Mail on my iPod Touch, the settings are old from POP, and on my Mac, Mail is perfectly fine with new IMAP settings. How can I make iTunes realize that those POP settings do not exist anymore and all my accounts are now IMAPs and to sync them to the Touch accordingly?

Thank you both for the suggestion but..., the information that HerelsTom is suggesting, and the website that IIIaass is sharing a link too, I have already tried, (it was the first thing I found and tried). I reorganized the photos in the order I want by re-saving each photo in order so the Date Modified would be in descending order, and the order that I wanted, but it didn't work.
Should I go to the Apple store and ask?

  • Syncing sent mail through the Blackberry device is a feature of BIS

We are using Blackberry Bold 9700 with BIS email plan instead of BES plan. But when we send the emails from Blackberry, and these sent emails doen't  show in the Sent Items in the Microsoft Outlook. We have Exchange 2003 server and Outlook 2003.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
It depends on several factors. First, it depends on how your the email server to which your BB, via BIS, is interfaced...the capabilities (when configured correctly) will be governed by this KB:
KB05133Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Second, it depends on how your Outlook is interfaced to your email server. If it is functioning via Exchange protocols, then it should see whatever the server has for Sent Items. If it is running a different protocol, then it is possible that it is not capable of receiving Sent Items from the server.
    Good luck!

  • Sent Mail not syncing

I have a .mac account and I am using Mail but I am having a problem with syncing sent mail with my iphone. Incoming mail goes to Mail and to my iphone. Outgoing mail is not working properly. If I send mail from my my computer, it does show in my sent folder on my iphone. If I send mail from my iphone, it does not show up in my sent folder on my computer.

Well, at least I know it isn't my phone. Thanks! But why does incoming mail show up on both my iphone and my computer?

  • How to download the "Sent Mail" folder from Gmail to Mail 4.1?

Since updating to Snow Leopard I no longer have any mail in my Sent Mail folder
when using IMAP in Mail 4.1. In fact just a few (258) of all my sent messages (3732)
    were properly downloaded.
I noticed that after configuring my Gmail to work with Mail/IMAP some new folders were
created. They are: [Gmail]/Sent Mail/Sent, [Imap]/Drafts, Sent messages, and Deleted Messages. Apart
from those, my Gmail account has always had standard folders such as Inbox, Sent Mail (the majority of my sent messages are in here), Drafts, Spam, and Trash. Apparently Mail is only downloading the messages from the new "Sent messages" folder and not the standard "Sent Mail", wherein all my sent messages actually are.
Another issue it that the spinning gear next to the Gmail Inbox in Mail 4.1 keeps spinning incessantly as if checking for new messages all the time even though it is set to check for new messages every 5 minutes and all messages has been downloaded. I have another IMAP account for my university's email which is working perfectly (neither problems with Sent Mail folder nor spinning gear). I will post the spinning gear problem in a separate question.
In my old MacBook I didn't have this problem when using Gmail with POP. This is the first time I'm using IMAP.
Is anybody having the same problems?
I appreciate your help in advance.

you can change Your Sent mailbox to "Sent Mail". select Sent Mail mailbox, go to mailbox menu->use this mailbox for->sent.

  • IMAP question - Sent mail not synching to IMAP server

I have several new IMAP accounts (not .mac). They sync fine for received mail. They also sync sent mail fine when I use Thunderbird. But When I use Mail (X.3 - panther), even though I have the box checked to store sent mail on the server, it does not.
--> no sent mail folder is created.
--> mail sent from apple mail does nto show up in Thunderbird
    Is this a known bug?
How can I work around it?
    Is it fixed in Tiger?
Thanks, I have searched the archives. no luck.
    Grant

no messages are ever added to it when I send from Apple Mail. The one email I sent from thunderbird does show up (in both). In another account, the one email I sent from webmail at the Madrid airport shows up, but not the hundreds I have sent in the interim.
    Sorry about the confusion.

  • Delete Sent Mail/mail sync problem

Is there a way to make iPad automatically delete sent POP mail after a time period? I have my apple mail program on an iMac set to do so, and it's working fine. But on the iPad sent mail has not been being deleted. I tried telling iTunes to sync mail accounts, and replace mail info on the iPad with that from the computer, but the sent mail on the iPad is still all there. I could just delete it all, one by one, but since I thought the settings were synced to the computer that all the sent messages were being deleted, and just noticed they weren't. So now I have a thousand or more sent messages on the ipad. This only occurs with POP accounts, Mac.com mail is behaving well, the sent messages delete as they should. Any ideas? Or, how can I mass delete thousands of sent messages on the iPad without having to do it one by one?

I'm pretty sure you can't do what you want. You'll have to just tap on the Edit button and manually select them all. A real pain.
POP accounts are a pain in general as they are designed for use on one device. For example, the only way of recording that a mail has been sent from your iPad (or from any other device/computer) is to cc yourself.
IMAP is the only way to go. Unfortunately, a lot of ISPs don't use it yet.
